Salt. Can be delicious or deadly, as required.
>>43933562
I've always been fond of magma, ice, and ooze/mud.
>>43933562
Shadows.
I've always liked the idea of being able to control shadows as a physical force.
>>43933792
Correct
Metal or nature (as in plants, poison, etc.)
Light
>>43934061
I like light when it isn't necessarily Good either. Light can be cold and blinding and horrible. Anyone who's been hung over can tell you that.
Sand

Most people don't even powerlevel enough to get access to the Meat Competences. It's all about that sick Metal/Smoke/Plastic action.
I would have to do with darkness, unholy powers and shadows have always appealed to me.
Void, easily.
>>43933562
Virtual H+ bosons, or blushes.
Heart is the best.
>>43933836
I'm torn between either salt or dust, leaning towards salt though. No idea what it is with me and small particle themed elements.
If I had to a top five, in no particular order:
1 - Salt
2 - Dust
3 - Smoke
4 - Force, especially when played as creating translucent walls and such rather than firing bolts
5 - Chaos
Honorable mention goes to void, which is probably the coolest conceptually but has the problem where the concept is rarely what is actually implemented in the setting. So often it's just "darkness" with another name.
>>43933562Uranium.
>>43937186

The Element of Surprise!
>>43938847
Nothin' beat surprise - 'cet rock.
>>43938135
How does that work? Like you erase part of the world and make it impassible? If so... that sounds pretty fucking awesome, actually. I might steal that idea at some point, maybe even put it in a system with sanity so that anyone looking at actual nothingness is forced to make checks trying to comprehend it, really push that flavor.
>>43933562

>>43939397
The hell are you playing?
I've always loved the idea of having power over apathy. Being able to instill complete apathy in my targets. If I could I'd choose Emotion, but that seems a little over the top for a secondary element.
Otherwise technology has always been really nifty; like technomancy
>>43933562
Light
> Lasers [x]
> Illusions [x]
> Raves [x]
> ...Light [x]
Not my first choice, and a few people have already answered heart, but I've always liked the idea of love as a tangible power.
In 8-Bit Theatre there was Black Mage's whole ability to siphon love from the universe and turn it into destructive force.
And I think in Breath of Fire IV, the mid-villains built a god-killing weapon which was empowered by love the human battery had towards the target.
Less lasery, I like the idea of a villain whose power is to make people fall in love with others. It brings up some interesting scenarios, like how it'd be used effectively, what other drives in a person could over-shadow love, how would less stable characters deal with a suddenl inexplicable yearning.

I quite like abstract elements like surprise or determination. I've gone as far as using theft, information, fog of war, as elements
I've found theft elementals to be quite dangerous.
similarly, I find it fun to try and assign entire stand powers a single word and use that as an element. sometimes you get straightforward ones like fire and water, occasionally you get nonstandard ones like speed or gun, and then you get weird ones like prognosia, flesh, and IT JUST WORKS
>>43956092
Best way to play it, honestly. I've done the whole "BLANKmancer" schtick and you get some really fun results. One guy rolled a generic Pyromancer, but another guy made a Rubbermancer
>>43934117
I like darkness when it's played for good.
Like promoting courage and overcoming fear.
Respecting the natural order or things.
Invoking emotions and just not keeping things black and white.
>>43956092
>>43956161
while the theft elemental was very powerful, I'm pretty sure the prosopagnosia elemental was actually unbeatable.
left side ataxia elemental was at least easy to understand the encounter. I don't know how anyone was supposed to solve for prosopagnosia.

Well let's see, Metal Gear Solid (only the first one and only in that one scene), that one VN game that never got a translation, that one MLP indie game, uhh. . .People who complain about a relatively rare video game feature being overdone are the worst.
Nuclear and Gravity are pretty cool
But the king crown goes to Explosion elementals.
There was a /tg/ thread where I made up an interesting bismuth elemental, that's cool too.
All of you are choosing the objectively wrong answers. The only true element that matters, the only one that affects EVERYTHING is the simple element of Authority. How many ancient civilizations had a god of Kings and Rulers? Did they have to use fire or water? NO. They walk in the room and everyone HAS to kneel, because they rule over their very beings.
The elementals of Rule, Law and Authority win every time, because everything is subservient to them. Spells like Command or Power Word may be mis-classified as Holy or Divine, but it all stems from KINGS.
Cept the elementals of Rebellion and Disorder. Screw those guys.
Element of WAR
OP's a fool for ignoring lightning. Electricity is a powerful and useful tool in many situations - you can smite an enemy with the power of a thunderstorm or leave him unharmed, but helplessly writhing on the floor. You can overload a machine or blast through a wall too - and it strikes so fast, who could stop you?
>>43956092
>and IT JUST WORKS
Ooh I'm interested in this, how does it work in your interpretation (aside from how it just does)

Most powerful God of my homebrew setting is one of light and knowledge. He's also fiercely uncompromising and holds little regard for the lives of the ignorant. He made a race gifted with the ability to carve and grow crystal with extremely knowledge heavy, holographic language, which he directly instructs them to make through divine intervention... They're all fucking blind and actually are aware of about a tenth of what they write. Meanwhile the goddess of darkness is more forgiving and offers respite. The life and death gods aren't related to light and dark.

So the elements of being loud and shitting everywhere?
>>43965484
If stupid shounen and cape comics with amusingly specialized powers being made to work well have taught me anything that might be better than it sounds.
Being really really loud can deafen people, and if you were loud enough, cause damage to stuff.
And shitting everywhere, while disgusting, might also have real, disgusting utilities. Everyone would hate you and roll their eyes when you showed up, but your clever use of shit would be surprisingly useful.
Partially because people didn't want to deal with you and your shit powers.

I could see a world based on ___mancers bring pretty fun, especially when you take your standard fantasy classes through a mancer lens.
