In my setting Wood Elves are Brown, High Elves are very pale shades of Pink or Yellow, and Dark Elves are Black. All elves can get tanned or become paler due to various exposure to sunlight, but never enough to be confused for another type of elf.
Crossbreeding between the three types is very rare and will always lead to banishment or execution, since their people have hated each other for millenia.

The artist wanted to do a shounen from the word go, but because his last manga was a harem love comedy, the publisher demanded he do the same genre again. So he rebelled, started slipping in more and more shounen elements and getting away with it.
Eventually, someone in head office realised that there hadn't been a 'hilarious' misunderstanding about panties in ten chapters or something and they threatened to give the title to someone else entirely.
Cue the author deciding, "Ahaha, you fools! If I'm going down, I'M TAKING THIS WITH ME!" and rushed out an ending that gave EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF THE CAST a very definite, final and concrete happy ending that no-one could continue from. He effectively nuked the setting and peaced out. The ending was rushed and a bit haphazard, but it saved it from being passed off to a less talented writer.

And then /tg/ would go on a quest of some kind, depending on character chosen. The "dwarf" would be looking for a way to save her home, the rogue would have to lift a curse on her, etc. There would also be a soldier (proper armor and everything), a mage/sorceress, and so on.
