Don't know if this is out of place, but since some people are nervous when roleplaying, or have trouble getting their characters personalities off correctly, I figured I'd start this thread

I'm taking requests and I wanna encourage other anons to do the same. Lets see if we can't define your characters a little more.

http://vocaroo.com/i/s0RaXyole8gk

im decent at impersonations and accents too
>>
Haven't seen one of these in a while. I'm up for shit too, if anyone's got something to read. I know these threads usually get requests for gruff raspy stuff but my voice androgynous and nasely, so keep that in mind.

To get the ball rolling, how about:
>¡mientras tanto, los MAGOS del TIEMPO!
Preferably with multiple voices and/or people that are synced, so it can all be compiled into one audio file to be played at the table when needed.

and so we are off to a less than illustrious start!

Might have a go here.
Would some kindly anon consider this request?

The line is simply this in a sibilant voice.
'Hello little one, it is brontosaurus time.'

To make a very long story short, in a game of Dark Heresy, the party wanted to maneuver through a sizable crack in a bulkhead door, The biomancer decided to shape flesh and extend his head a full two metres through the hole. The hapless cultist on the other side had half a second of stunned silence before the psyker delivered this line.
>>
>>43919782
I can't say the word brontosaurus anymore it just comes out gibberish baby noises.

It's for my Angel Law character in Broken Worlds. Just do a deep and booming voice, like you would a paladin.

I can try to sounds as my inquisitor from Dark Heresy, but it will be kinda hard since he has mask on his mouth in order to help him breathe. (He was exposed to a dangerous gas from a Kroot when the Kroot hunting pack ambushed the party).
So I petend that he sounds a bit like Bane

“For optimists, human life never needs justification, no matter how much hurt piles up, because they can always tell themselves that things will get better. For pessimists, there is no amount of happiness—should such a thing as happiness even obtain for human beings except as a misconception—that can compensate us for life’s hurt. As a worst-case example, a pessimist might refer to the hurt caused by some natural or human-made cataclysm. To adduce a hedonic counterpart to the horrors that attach to such cataclysms would require a degree of ingenuity from an optimist, but it could be done. And the reason it could be done, the reason for the eternal stalemate between optimists and pessimists, is that no possible formula can be established to measure proportions and types of hurt and happiness in the world. If such a formula could be established, then either pessimists or optimists would have to give in to their adversaries.”

Read the first line in your normal voice, no extra flair. I'm gathering a collection of voices for use as subplot hooks. Each voice has a story of its own once my players decide to pursue it.

If you want to go further, you may read the poem after it in the mood of someone who knows they will die within 24 hours.

---

None shall die alone or unknown.

Straying from the straight, their eye with no ire,
the Confidant is called by the flickering fire.
Chasing the Wisp by its whispers
just to collect the cold cinders,
they trace their trail to know without fail
how to best serve their desire.

"I see you. Trapped within your shell, an unsound mind within a fading vessel, forever in search of a truth you cannot bear to understand. So fragile. So flawed. Driven to waste by basest sin, desires of the flesh, etched upon your wretched heart, and thus you run, moving too fast, through lives too short.

You hope to master your fate, when you cannot master your mind? A fool's task. But I can help, timeless and eternal, I guide you down the righteous path, steward to your dreams. I give you clarity, I give you time, I give you perfection, clad in red and gold.

All this, for but a trifling price. You. Your mind, your life, your love, and all else that you are, mine evermore, till creation fades and darkness falls. With you and you alone I treat, so take my hand, submit thyself to me, and I shall show you greatness without limit."

In a faraway land, more far-flung in credibility than in kilometers, there was a secluded forest.

I've got something that might work here. A bit of trail-worn exposition, from a hard-bitten man.

"We thought little of it at first. Long winters, dry summers. Rivers ran thinner, grasses yellowed. We tried to move to greener pasture, as we always had, but found other tribes doing the same wherever we went.
Then the shadow fell, and with it came the orcs. It crept into the land itself, darkened what few waters were left, and poisoned any life it came to. The orcs- they were more cunning than wolves, crueler than the north wind on pink skin. Our home became inhospitable.
So we fled west, chasing a tale of old, fleeing the shadow, only to find here your war with the fire that cast it."
>>
>>43936249

I assume he's referring to the vocal fry you used in that take. In my opinion, it was a little intense and the strict regularity made it sound unnatural. It's definitely a good tool for getting that "old storyteller" vibe, but I'd recommend applying it with more variation.

I'm glad you liked my reading of your poem. It was pretty neat, and if you had another way or two you wanted it read, I'd be happy to do so.

"Perp's got a pretty consistent pattern. He finds a handsome guy, typically dark haired, physically fit, then stalks them a while. Eventually, he kidnaps them. He's a psychic, one of those mind-controllers, so he has a pretty easy time of it. Tries to induce Stockholm Syndrome, keeps them from leaving. Sometimes they've got powers, sometimes they don't. When they do, he takes them with him on jobs. Starts to get affectionate after a few weeks and start trusting them enough to relax the overt control. Then they try to come to the cops, he murders them, gets depressed and vanishes a few months. Comes back doing normal robberies for about a year, then latches onto another guy, convinced it'll be different this time. Your friend's the fourth one we know of. Fuck knows how many others there have been..."

"'Boiling water'? God, you're such an amateur... Here's what you do. Mix sugar or chocolate into the water until it is thick and syrupy and most importantly, molten. This is so not only does it severely burn the victim, it also sticks to their flesh instead of quickly evaporating like water - we want maximum damage here, damage that will make them regret their mistake every minute of their life. When properly thrown, it can scald to the bone. I call it napalming."

"you are not lost who are loved. For I am the egg whose mother has died; rest in my shade"
Spoken by a giant sandworm of all things. I'm thinking something along the lines of a James Earl Jones type voice? Prominent NPC gives all kinds of cryptic advice, and occasionally gives minor aid.

And this here's from my paladin, in a bar, telling about a quest he took a ways back. He's different in that he's as bro and relatable as possible while still being lawful good:
Alright, so I took a job saying there was a necromancer going around raising skeletons and building an army, so I go out to stop them. Now, you picture a necromancer: some old dude, right? Maybe even a lich as ugly as his skeletons. But no, this was a pretty hot chick. I get to her secret lair, bust up her minions, and confront her, and the bitch tries to convince me to join her side! She must've gone on for a full ten minutes about how much power and money we'd get, and ruling the world and blah blah blah. So I'm like "alright, sure" and I go to shake her hand, but as soon as we touch I toss her over my head to the center of the throne room (I assume she ordered her undead to build it) we were in. Man, the look on her face when she realized how bad she fucked up asking a paladin to join her evil ranks was just priceless. She tried to send her zombies at me, but I'd already shredded them all, so she tried fist-fighting me, but come on. She was a mage. Mages can't fight. To make it more interesting, I tossed her my axe and had her fight me with it. Yeah, that's right, I took her on bare-handed. She actually did get a lucky swipe in and I got a gash across my chest, but I really didn't care. I can (and did) heal it right back up. She's in the prison now. Right where she belongs.

Running an elder scrolls tabletop next week, if possible could someone do this request, maybe in a emperor/urial septum voice?

t is the end of the 3rd Era. The Oblivion Crisis has been averted thanks to Martin Septim and the Hero of Kvatch with the banishment of Mehrunes Dagon and the ending of the Septim line. As the Jaws of Oblivion close shut, the dawn of the 4th Era rises, coming with it new tales of adventure and heroism across the lands of Tamriel and beyond. It is Tirdas, 11th day of First Seed, fifth year of the fourth Era, and the true beginning of your lives.

It's one of my favorite things to come out of /tg/
I'm working on some expanding of the universe on my own time. Well, not really expanding so much as getting details down for all the ideas that popped up, and fixing up some of the things that clashed. For example, in my canon, the world is an artificial planet; it doesn't orbit anything and is going in a straight line to who-knows where. Self-heated through internal mechanisms, the sky is fake, showing a sun that doesn't exist and various moons that also don't exist. Originally some people wanted it to be a planet while others wanted it to be a space-ship. Compromise.
>>
>>43975357
Ha, I was actually in the Spaceship camp. I wanted to say that the ship was in orbit around a gas giant with a bunch of moons, which is why they were always changing.
>>
>>43975357
I actually think I was the one to say "fuck the topic, it's worldbuilding time."
>>
>>43975394
This is what I have written down (from the perspective of a team of space explorers stumbling upon the place)
Something that we checked out as soon as it was spotted under suspect that it was artificially created. The planet (unnamed by the natives, dubbed Sinai by the council) is divided evenly into quadrants simply referred to as "desert", "stone", "glass", and "swamp", the borders between which are straight lines. None of the quadrants appear fit for colonies, though life was found in the desert and swamp sections. In the event that we need to make a colony on Sinai, the desert is recommended, as the swamp is full of poisonous fungi and insects bigger than we are (the smallest are about the size of house-cats meanwhile the biggest are building-sized and damn near indestructible). The glass quadrant is just that: glass. Perfectly smooth and impossible to tell how thick; curious, but low priority. Stone quadrant is, as the name implies, covered in mossy stones. Our Geiger counters were going off the charts here; further study warranted using the best radiation protection we can get our hands on. Desert is where things are interesting. It's enough that I'm making a full section for it, and it's where my team and I spent pretty much all of our time on the planet.

Huh, I didn't actually mention the lack of orbit anywhere yet. Well, at least I have the bit about moons written down in another place
>>
>>43975582
and for that, we are thankful

No moon: standard
Violet moon: "Festival moon"
Once a year, like clockwork, a large, violet moon appears at dusk and lasts for a week, ending at dawn. This moon doesn't rise or set though, it just kinda fades in and out of existence and stays in place. The natives keep track of when the moon is going to appear and set up something comparable to a carnival that lasts for the duration. Beyond the standard market stalls selling sweets and keepsakes, there's a lot of musically themed things going on as well: singing and dancing and drum-circles in particular. It's also traditional to have a storytelling competition on the third day. Apparently nomads keep track of the festival moon as well, and will seek out spire communities to join in. Festival moons often have a high concentration of 3-month old children.

Blue moon: remember the fallen
The blue moon is, ironically enough, is not the rarest. Though you probably already guessed from the miracle moon. Actually, the blue moon is the most common, appearing once every fifty days. I actually got to see this one. It's relatively big, appearing about two or three times bigger as the earth's moon as seen while on earth. The blue moon, according to the natives, ferries the souls of the dead on to the next realm. And during its appearance, everybody gathers around to honor those who've passed, old and new.
Green moon: bad omen

(I don't have anything else for green moon yet. A lot of this just has placeholders)
>>
>>43975682

Don't forget that every Odaryje has died when the Red Moon was in the sky.
>>
>>43975682
>Golden moon: "Miracle moon"
The "miracle moon" is a time of celebration, similar to the violet moon, but with an emphasis on making wishes. it's a lot rarer than the violet moon, supposedly appearing once every 75 years, give or take, though there's apparently some inherent randomness to this one, with a 10 year error margin, assuming it shows up that cycle at all. How the miracle moon festivities work is that throughout your life, you keep a "wishing scroll", which is essentially a christmas list, though not restricted to material things. One of the children showed me his wishing scroll, and though I couldn't read it (seems the auto-translator doesn't work with writing, and to decipher it without knowing the actual native language is beyond my abilities. Acquiring writing samples to bring to the specialists would likely be better than the other way around), he was happy to tell me all about it. His wishing scroll listed:
>a baby sand-lizard
>A girl from his community about his age
>to grow up big and strong
>a toy that he had lost when he was younger
>to listen to sandworm sing
>his grandfather, who had passed away three years ago
Talking to others, it seems that not many remove their childish wishes as they grow, as something to look back on. Once a wish comes true, put a mark next to the wish signifying as such. During the miracle moon, everybody gets together to try to help eachother with their wishing scrolls. It's considered bad luck to not have at least one wish granted by the end. A common wish seems to be to actually see the moon, which I guess isn't just a cop out for the bad luck; assuming the stories are true, it could be 85 years between miracle moons, and the average age of death on Sinai seems to be about 50. So it's a once in a life-time event at most where your wishes come true, and I heard that the moon is big and beautiful. Hell, I wish I had gotten to see it during my stay.

(oh yeah, the planet has an auto-translator too)
>>
>>43975723
Damn, that's actually a really awesome tradition.

>Want to just shout this with muffled knocking on the door

I've got a slightly longish one if anyone feels like reading it. I envision the speaker as being slightly bored, but go with whatever you think feels right

"Now that you have been properly sorted, welcome to Bunker Seven. You are now a kilometer below the earth's surface. There are two ways out. One is a long, winding passageway, sealed at both ends with two-meter-thick blast doors and filled with traps. The other is death.

Do not become too attached to your fellow prisoners, as many of you will be reassigned shortly. Skilled workers such as doctors and scientists will be given extra rations and privileges. Unskilled workers will be put to labor in necessary areas. Those who perform well will be given extra rations and privileges. Those who lie about being skilled workers will be placed on a starvation diet and set to hard labor for a week. Those who refuse to work will have rations withheld indefinitely. Attempted escapees, revolutionaries, and other assorted troublemakers will be executed as an example to the rest of you.

Now. Are any of you going to be troublemakers?"

There's a very in-depth manual on the audacity wiki, you can find it here:

There's also tons of good youtube videos, googling around for audacity beginner tutorials should get plenty of results.

Ultimately you just need to look at the noise removal tool and exporting your recordings.

You can use any voice you like, so long as it sounds breathless and spur of the moment. Preferably something like Master Shake from ATHF, although you don't have to do that if you don't think you can pull it off.

"Alright kids, the lesson just transitioned into 'Hunting S-rank Criminals 101.' First thing you gotta do is keep calm. If you panic you're dead. No, I'm not panicking, just excited. Next thing you need is to keep the hell away from that giant salamander summon. I'd bet your asses that thing has poison breath or poison skin or some crap; and even if it doesn't it's big enough to swallow us all in one gulp...

Oh fuck me, she's coming this way. Alright, Ryota, you jump out to the side, throw some swords or something and distract her. Then I'll try and tip that lizard over with an earth technique. That leaves you two to perform the finishing blow. Don't mess this up now kids; if we don't ace this bitch fast, you can be damn sure she'll punch back with something deadly."
