Let's suppose, for a moment, that fauns were capable of settling down for long enough to build a city whilst otherwise retaining as much as possible of their original culture (I mean, they'd have to figure out that growing one's own grapes is easier with permanent settlements, right?)

How would a fairly large/central faun city look? Their capital, or something like that?

Maybe one of those natural JRPG cities? Thick, fast healing trees that function as city walls. They could probably double as apartments.

Roads would look like animal trails.

Would it feature lots of rivers?

The place would reek of pussy and cum.

Where else would they be keeping the nymphs?

Some kind of public baths/whorehouse?

Oh lord. I'm now imagining a pimp named goatback, with the purple jacket and everything.

About as believable as a setting where gypsies don't steal.

I once had a post-Satyr civilisation based around 5 arts: Smithery, painting, poetry/music, sculpting and war-craft if I'm not mistaken...
Each form of art had a dedicated city which they called 'gardens'. Each 'garden' was composed of stone walls and halls with green plateaus and free growing trees. The architecture was more about the natural aesthetics than the practical use. And each Garden had peaceful Satyrs theorising and practising their particular art.

At present day, the cities were in state of decay since the Satyrs had vanished for unspecified reasons. The humans living there tried to uphold the ancient Satyrs' traditions and restore the former glory. They are ruled by a counsel of remaining half-satyrs who display their small horns proudly but hide their malformed legs.
The garden of war-craft remains a mysterious ruin.

Post-Satyr Civilization sounds like some kind of apocalyptic thing.

>It's been 4 years since the satyrs invaded... Earth has not been the same.

Ps: I took my inspiration from a romantic idea of ancient Greeks. So sex and wine was a small part of it, but supposed sophistication, diplomacy and vanity were a bigger part.
And feedback is welcome

It was more like an ancient-elves thing, but hopefully less cliché.
Although marauding satyrs are also not a bad idea.

Maybe something they created together with their dryad waifus and other fey.

And some magical way to provide enough wine and mead.

Is the best world-building you can do borderline magical realm? I really like Faun, but shit like this ruins it.

Are you familiar with Greco-Roman mythology?

One of Tolkien's (vast) criticisms of Narnia was that Lucy meeting Mr. Tumnas would have ended in a "rape, not a tea party"

Yes I am. But do you actually take a race centred around 'pussy and cum' to your game group and justify it by "this is how it originally was portrayed"?
Are your wizards like Merlin? Are your dragons still giant serpents?
I'm not saying you should censor the origin of Faun, but if you are actually building a setting you could try to get beyond "It's a race about sex!"

There's always hamadryads and oreads and such. Fauns'll bone any sort of nature spirits they lay eyes on.
>>
Planescape had these as a default race, I think.

They were everywhere in the art.
>>
Outside of forests, would they show up in Plains, or even Cities?

What is the difference between a Faun, a Satyr, and a Centaur? Can they live together?
