What if the events of Metal Gear Rising happened in Shadowrun?
>>
>>43864422
Just another day in New York City.
>>
>>43864452
Isn't New York City an orwellian hellhole?
>>
>>43864422

Raiden would be dead because that degree of cyberization isn't supported by the rules.
>>
>>43864517
Remember that Armstrong in Shadowrun thread we had a bit back? Fake blood means it doesn't mess with essence, but he needs fuel or his soul sods off.
>>
>>43864517
4th edition cyborg. It's just a brain in a jar.
>>
>>43864452
Didn't MGR literally start with Raiden flipping over a building sized mech?
>>
How many dice would be needed to represent an attack from Raiden?
>>
>>43864422
>Denver is fucked.
>Narobi is fucked.
>some lab in Azlatan is fucked.
>If Pakistan still existed it's fucked.
>but Denver is super Fucked.
>>
>>43864825
None. Just say "If he hits you, your fucked.".
>>
>>43864883
But in Giant Japanese Kanji
>>
Raiden quickly goes insane from the sheer loss incurred in making him into a Cyberzombie.
Despite his best intentions, his mind irrevocably shatters.
Deep in the throes of Cyberpsychosis, he goes on a murderous rampage slaughtering many hundreds or thousands of people.

It takes many, MANY lives and millions upon millions (or possibly even Billions) of Nuyen to finally stop him.
Or if they don't, he runs off into the wilds where he lives for a short while before the cancers in his dying body end his life.

Augmentations are not pretty in Shadowrun.
Awakened master race!

A Metal Gear Ray, Yeah. About 1000 Tons.
>>
>>43864634
It's the 'chump' boss of the game. Raiden takes it apart with no effort.
>>
>>43865587
...does sam have geth/commander Shepard armor on his right side?
>>
>>43865587
I feel the need to point out that Sam had that Muramasa before he joined Desperado.
It had been in his family for quite some time.

Full body prosthetic cyborgs exist in 4th edition.
>>
>>43865099
cyberzombies are such a dumb part of what is ostensibly a cyberpunk game
>>
>>43866361
That's kind of the whole point, cybermancy is a very dumb idea, and only idiots sign up for it.
>>
>>43866394
>we put you in a robot but your body died somehow??? and also you get like supercancer because
Was honestly disappointed to see 5e step back from full-on cyberware again because 4e was the closest Shadowrun game to actually letting people fully use the technology present in the setting.
>>
>>43866361
Casterfags can't stand losing to a jock.
>>

Nnno, that's his prosthetic right arm.

Are there any cyberpunk games where becoming a cyborg doesn't carry some kind of crippling risk?
>>
>>43864825
Just roll the whole bucket

Although honestly it's not so much that he does incredible damage, it's that he does jacked up augmented Street Sam damage but ALSO ignores all armor.
>>
>>43865121
They're both wrong.

Raiden has literally replaced like 95% of his body, that's terminal essence loss unless you go full cyberzombie. Armstrong's blood may be endowed with bullshit nanites, but Raiden has not such a luxury.

He's also not a Full-Body Cyborg, as he has more than his brain remaining. That is a specific requirement for Shadowrun cyborgs, it doesn't work if there's anything more than the brain.
>>
>>43867021
Wouldn't the semen blood be assumed to be Raiden's essence loss mediation factor? It takes fairly minor fucking with his blood in MGS4 to drop him.
>>
>>43867021
>He has more than his brain remaining

No he doesn't. Maybe a bit of spinal cord, but his whole head is artificial.
>>
>>43866874
Does Eclipse Phase count?
>>
>>43867142
You could indeed assume that, especially from all of the nanomachines and electrolytes present in military-grade cyborgs artificial blood, yes.

>>43867165
Don't forget the one remaining working eyeball he's got.

Literally nothing changes, except Senator Armstrong is a dragon.

He's called Senator Fafnir or some shit.
>>
>>43866296
Holy shit, Sam is such a Mary Sue.
>>
>>43866881
>ignores all armor
Only with the Grey Fox sword, and the Armor Breaker once it's leveled up enough.
>>
>>43868758
It is tied into a history of Brazil having cultural exchange with Japan at one point. Also, the sword's called Murasama by his family, which was an in-joke by the creators about weeaboos getting Japanese names and culture wrong.
>>
>>43868641
That actually sounds pretty great.
>>
>>43868797
>which was an in-joke by the creators about weeaboos getting Japanese names and culture wrong.
Because that doesn't happen with westaboos, right?
>>
>>43866394
>very dumb idea
Tell that to the anti-magic murder machine tearing Spirits apart like they're made of wet paper.
>>
>>43868758
>>43868797
Brazil has a fairly large japanese influence and population, it's the largest center for Aikido outside Japan itself.
>>
>>43868848
Not saying it doesn't, but that was the intention.
>>43868861
Yes it does.
>>
>>43867810
Why does it glow?!
>>
>>43864422
Even ignoring the retards complaining about Raiden not being able to exist in the Shadowrun universe, he's on a completely different tier of ability to what Shadowrun brings to the table. Nothing short of the heaviest hitters could pose even a remote challenge to him. We're talking about a guy who tosses 1000 tons with what appears to be merely moderate effort. The events of MGR are analogous to a single man taking down an entire AAA corp, ie. something so insane that it doesn't really gel with Shadowrun. Honestly MGR's tech is more posthuman stuff akin to Eclipse Phase than cyberpunk.

That said, I'm not as familiar with Shadowrun lore as I am with MGS. What's the biggest blow a AAA corp has been dealt by a single entity or small group? Anything major enough to knock them down to AA or legitimately hurt them?
>>
>>43868758
The thing about Sam is he does the whole badass anime character routine but ultimately accomplishes nothing. The real players outmaneuver him at every turn until in the end he dies in the middle of nowhere wondering how he managed to screw up so badly.

>What's the biggest blow a AAA corp has been dealt by a single entity or small group? Anything major enough to knock them down to AA or legitimately hurt them?
Closest I can think of is JOHNNY SPINRAD

It would be shit, as is Shadowrun.

>>43864517
... Yes it is. Even without brain jars.
>>
>>43864517
we found the NFA anon in this thread.

Brain in a Jar, fancy looking Deltaware, Full-conversion package... there are tons of ways in 4e/20A Shadowrun. Which is the superior edition, by the way.
>>
>>43870224
Virt? Evading the ban you caught here because your little hugbox kicked you out? GB2Leddit.
>>
>>43870224
Oh hai virt. How's being a cancer ball treating you?
>>
But yea, there is one reason why this would work in SR4/20A... It's called WAR!

That book will enable any wanna-be Raiden be the bleeding edge ass-kicker they wanna be. That and there's ways to make armor super-light, allowing some pretty crazy combinations.
>>
>>43870224
Hi virt!...Bye virt!
>>
>>43869781
Not really, Sam's whole character is supposed to represent how empty your life is if you dedicate it solely to revenge.

He did avenge his father but then he finds himself without purpose, and fights for fighting's sake, as his theme song goes.

It's not really about being outmaneuvered by Armstrong as much as it is him accepting to work for him simply because he doesn't even know what the fuck he should do at that point.

And in the end, his death isn't a real screw-up... he probably figured out that Raiden would've defeated him (or maybe he wanted to be defeated?) since he told the cyberwolf that the block on his sword would disactivate a few hours after his death.
>>
>>43869714
That would probably be Art Dankwalther; a former AAA companyman who was left 34 billion dollars by Dunky who turned his newfound fortune to laying ruin to the company that fired him.

He did significant financial damage to Novatech before the Corporate Court declared him a threat to the global economy and dropped an orbital kinetic bombardment on him. Novatech's still a AAA, but I think it can't ever not be short of being completely bought-up.

Like Denver being fucked is a novel concept in Shadowrun
