How much of an impact on society would a dearth of families have?
That is, consider a setting where the vast majority of sapient creatures are born from the spirits of the dead, aspects of nature, ancient objects, magical energies, or what-have-you, much like the outsiders of Planescape. They can still reproduce the old-fashioned way, but only a small fraction of the population is born in such a manner.
How different would society and its values be due to this one factor alone?
>dad's aide of the family are essentially golem spirits of determination and integrity
>mom's side is just some batshit insane water nymphs
Eventually everyone would be so watered down it would be pointless, but pure lines would be incredibly powerful.

dynastism would probably never been a thing, so no kings, princes or emperors (by bloodline inheritance). it would be all democracys and military juntas

>What are nondemocratic republics

It's true, though.
I mean, after gay marriage got legalized, a number of political lesbians even came out saying as such. They are against the very idea of families because of patriarchy.
Gays are actually fine. It's just political lesbians and feminists that are the problem, really.
Because women are gatekeepers of reproduction. And they are also gatekeepers of family.
Anyways, the largest impact on society that a dearth of families would have is that YOU NEED A WAY TO RAISE ALL THESE KIDS.
Children need guidance and education. Without some way of educating kids, you end up with people who have few ties to each other, and even fewer skills.
Even if the children aren't helpless, acculturation, socialization, and education are going to be important.
You'd need something like the Israeli kibbutz, or the Boy Scouts, or the Soviet or Nazi Youth programs to take up the slack.
For that matter, who's even responsible for the kid? Does some feral child just pop out of nowhere? If you find a baby like that, are you responsible for them? Can you just toss them in the trash? Are there places you can take them?

You saying that Oliver Twist is a 19th century fantasy novel, like Salambo?

The general assumption in fantasy for such creatures that spawn from:
>the spirits of the dead, aspects of nature, ancient objects, magical energies, or what-have-you
Seems to be that such entities are somehow capable of independently and instinctively acquiring the abilities and knowledge they need to thrive in the world, take care of themselves, interact in society, and so on.

What if you come from a line of spirits devoted to a virtue? Like spirits of intellect or creativity.

Even a workhouse qualifies as a valid child-rearing strategy.
After all, English workhouses were required to provide education on writing, education on religion, and education in job skills, nutrition, and healthcare, which definitely made them a better proposition than life on the streets.
I mean, as far as Oliver Twist goes, it shows the bullshit way that orphans(and all paupers in fact) were treated.
But it does show at least one valid method of childrearing, wherein Oliver goes from workhouse to apprentice to criminal accomplice.
There is nary an opportunity where SOMEONE isn't willing to teach the boy a lesson(even if that lesson is that the world is a barbaric one in which people are valueless aside from being a resource to be exploited for the gain of others, and the lessons are all hard-knock).

If that's the case, then you don't have a society at all.
You have a loose gathering of autists who have no need for one another, and probably live solitarily.
Most organisms that have young that are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves upon birth are solitary, don't gather too often, and are often in conflict or competition with each other.

No, I mean that in the sense that street urchins should not even exist in a pre-feminist society.
