He's Finnish. A friend of mine in fact. He's done a ridiculous amount of armies, usually with a lot of conversions. Aside from the Necrons and Space Sharks, he has a Kroot army (using DE rules) and some Emperor's Children (with a daemon prince converted with a lot of Talos bits; I'm also pretty sure he borrowed the design for its base from me since it looks suspiciously similar to what I did for one of my models and showed him shortly before he built it. His looks better, though), plus some less converted but still really nice looking Marines.

I actually know someone who did this unironically after I explained to him why it's never a good idea to throw away the leftover bits.
Later, when I introduced him to the wonders of greenstuff, he literally stuck bits into it to make even more monstrocities.
He finally realized his calling and went from space marines to orks. Sometimes his figures lost arms, so he blobbed GS onto the shoulder, and then didn't even paint over it, because it's green.

Tau commander as Farsight. Cut moving the left shoulder forward to cheat this pose. Cuts on left elbow to rotate it, significant portion of the right shoulder is shaved down to let the right arm bend that way.
Probably going with the regular thrusters and am working out how to make a sheith for the sword on the right shoulder with farsight's shield generator on the left.

I've made these guys to use to represent the characters in a RT game. I'm still missing a navigator since I haven't found an easily availeable figure to conver one from (I did find a suitable figure online, though, and should probably order one at some point). Not all of them are converted (the astropath, scribe guy and navy guy are metal models that haven't been altered in any way), but the rest have at least minor part swaps.

No. However, the looted rules were bad anyway (you payed the same cost as everyone else but suffer handicaps so unless you have good luck a firefight between a looted vehicle and the exact same non-looted vehicle will end in the looted vehicle being destroyed) and the ork fluff is still the most conversion friendly of all the factions. Now looting can very easily be represented by counts as. Your looted knight could either count as a Stompa or a Gorkanaut/Morkanaut.
