Well, to help me come up with character concepts, I'm normally inspired by playlists on Youtube/Soundcloud. As a result, I tend to save it as the character's "theme" and play it to myself whenever we're in a crucial roleplaying moment, just to keep me in that feeling of that character's inspiration. As for everything else, music, if done right, can set the mood much better. Generally, unless there's something super heavy (IE boss fight, character death, etc) or there's absolutely NOTHING happening, I like to play psuedo ambient tracks like this
