Because nobody over 18 ever says that. If you're in college, you're on your own for hours at a time. If you're in grad school, you're snowed under with work and don't have enough free time for 30-40 minutes at all.

Even a HS teacher isn't in this situation. She's either grading during lunch or trying to hit on the hot new untenured chick they just hired. Or doing faculty lounge politics, which is a never-ending source of cattiness.

The only people in this situation are kids in grade school. Ergo, you're either underage for this website. or very nearly so.

Not really, he just made a gross over generalization.
I'm in grad school and I always have things to do, but a large part of my process doesn't require too much thinking and I usually listen to radio while I'm at it.
