To the guy asking what can DE do against a WK I have found 2 options that work.

Reavers with CC get 2d3 + 1d6 rending attacks that auto hit on average this will be 7.5 hits.
After rending and saves per 3 guys it is .37 wounds (assuming 5++ with a re-roll and then FNP).
In a 9 man squad this is going to be 1.11 wounds per squad.
You then next have 3+ squads who will attempt to do this every turn with hit and run and between that and some poison shots you may be able to kill it by turn 4 (sooner if you can kill the farseer).

The next option is ofc the coven formation of 5 talos with the instant death attack on 6 and assuming they can make it to combat they can kill the sucker in about a turn.

Variant Dark Eldar consisting of all the Eldar who were in the blast radius of the fall.

The Eye of Terror slighly more subtly is just a huge region of tainted space where reality is thinner and the Dark Gods have influence.

The Dark Eldar had their souls sapped away, and now do the canon thing of feeding Slaanesh other people whilst resenting her, only on a much broader scale and with all the resources of the Eldar at their peak.

> and now do the canon thing of feeding Slaanesh other people whilst resenting her

This doesn't happen. Dark Eldar do not feed other people to Slaanesh; consuming the pain and suffering of other creatures heals the damage Slaanesh inflicts upon them. It isn't an offering designed to make She Who Thirsts look the other way for a while, it's a band-aid. This has been made abundantly clear in the fluff since the DE codex was re-released in 5th edition; why people still think otherwise is beyond me.

>>
>>43792579

That is literally just semantics.

Patching your own soul so slaanesh can eat more of your soul so you have to patch your own soul again so slaanesh can eat more of your soul without killing you is functionally the same end result as just making sacrifices.

Only, y'know, begrudgingly and with resentment instead of direct worship. So what I said in the first place nitpicked a bit.
>>
>>43792639
>That is literally just semantics.

No, it isn't. To directly treat with a Chaos God by specifically offering sacrifices in exchange for favours, even if that favour is simply a brief reprieve from punishment, is a world away from healing the damage said God inflicts upon them. Remember that Dark Eldar are not Chaos Eldar; the Harlequins deal with them as openly as they do with the Craftworlders. If the Dark Eldar were deliberately empowering Slaanesh by offering her mass sacrifices then this wouldn't be the case.
>>
>>43792200

That's the whole appeal. You don't have to put them down. You just send them in to do the hardest fighting and either the enemy takes care of your mental illness problem for you or they skull fuck the battlefield clean and you get the Chaplain to stick em away to do it some other time. Do you even seek redemption and honour? It's like you don't even want glorious death in the battlefield.

I have a few questions.

I'm returning to 40k from a hiatus. I buy stuff from time to time but I finally moved and found an area I can play in.

Are landraiders any good now with the new formation?

Are bikes the best SM troop option still?

Are Iron Hands still a "tier 1" space marine chapter?

What are the top 5 best crunch space marine chapters, FW included?

Is it worth taking a Master of the Forge if I have a Fire Raptor and Sicaran?

What type of formation/decurion or whatever the shit it's all called now would make best use of bikes and tanks?

Apologies for all the questions, fat gentlemen.

Power mauls? Just take swords, maybe axes. Same cost. If they are tank hunting then fists/chainfists
Take more chosen, that way your plasma stays alive longer.
Cultist champ can't take autogun.
No gifts on the possessed, take 2 more possessed instead of rhino.
Take more possessed instead of raptors. If you're using the supplement book, possessed can become beasts.

>>43792626
Does the shooting attack say it auto hits? Beams do, says so in their entry.

>>43792714
Are you returning simple to table people and win games? You won't get help if that's what you want, you'll also just be wasting your time and money.

You can pretty much run anything you want in SM aside from landspeeders and expect to do well, using their gladius strike force thing. Top stuff right now is grav guns, which will be getting nerfed in 8th edition so don't be butthurt when they are if you use them.

>>43792804
What? You only roll to hit at one point, not twice. If you power has multiple shots, you test power, roll X dice to see what shots hit, then resolve.

>Are landraiders any good now with the new formation?
Not particularly but if you were taking 3 as dedicated transports anyway it's usually better. Unless you're using crusader squads for objsec LR's.

>Are bikes the best SM troop option still?
Scouts now give them a run for their shekkels but best SM list uses the formation now. It's apparently the best but I've yet to see anyone run it as not many people have 15 Razorbacks.

>Are Iron Hands still a "tier 1" space marine chapter?
IIRC only dreads have IWND now, not all vehicles, though I might be wrong on that.

Salamanders are probably the best now, not including supplements.

>What are the top 5 best crunch space marine chapters, FW included?
I'd say in the following Order:
>Ravenguard
>White Scars
>Iron Hands
>Imperial Fists
>Raptors

This is purely because they are all the ones with their own supplements though, baring Raptors.

>Is it worth taking a Master of the Forge

>>43793010
Just snipe the bright lances and use Thule as a way to just wreck the banshees.
Or have your commander take them out.
>>
>>43793049
Any Chapter can take the Hunting Force as a formation unto itself
But only White Scars can incorporate it into a decurion-style Detachment
>>
>>43793090
There are individual machine spirits. Guardsmen knock on the hull of Hydras to 'rouse' the machine spirit inside. Its a token for good luck.
>>
>>43793010
You can solo the game with just Cyrus. Use him to snipe Banshees.

Avitus is your main DPS, so make his DPS stat and get good weapons for him. Heavy Bolters shred mooks.

Tarkus is your tank, so buff health and whatever else, energy or damage is good. Veteran Squad unlock is cool, I dunno if you also get Terminator Armour that the Terminators become Veterans. I don't think they do. Use his grenades and drawfire.

Captain Hairgel (funnily enough GW did a model based on him, the new assault marines. They also have the two guys from Space Marine modelled too in Tacticals) use him as a melee beatstick. So Melee + HP. Thaddeus is great with max HP and max melee as he can spam jump slam which is great. Though he is also decent as a Terminator due to TH/SS equip.
>>
>>43793228
Right so the Void Dragon can't go "fuck your shit, you didn't worship me enough, I'm going to make you misfire"? It'd be cool, especially because C'tan hate the Necrons, so it makes sense that they wouldn't want them to misfire there.

But they're not trying to get penance. Blood Angels are only second to Ultrasmurfs in honours, heroics and defence of the Imperium.

They do what they do BECAUSE of their flaws, to prove they're not Chaos. Death Company don't survive battles. They die. If they don't die, then Astaroth appears and kills them. But that's so rare that Astaroth only appears when there is shit loads of Death Company to lead. Which, based on how shit the codex is, is basically table top canon now. As DC + Astaroth is a great mix.

Games Workshop have come up with a new type of super-formation that gives you free benefits for taking from a list of formations instead of a CAD.

I mentioned that too. The thing is, even if they survive, they're so mental they can't be re-used, so they're locked up until Astaroth arrives and kills them.

But, since Lemartes exists, I'm sure fluffing that ur dudes are re-used isn't far-fetched. If I was playing them, I'd give them all names and record who survives.

You can't do Death Company Captains can you? Only Tycho is one, right? Tycho is the worst kind of character.

1. He's some OCDONUTSTEAL from a White Dwarf battle report that was put into the Blood Angels 5th edition (it was in the white dwarf one 18 months before iirc)

2. He's dead in fluff. No other special character is.

3. He takes up two slots in the codex

4. He's completely terrible on tabletop. Oh, great, a melta... not bad...

>no power weapon

Okay... nothing to worry bout...

While the whole retractable giant tonfa design is odd/overdesigned, charged melee weapons capable of parrying lightsabers have been fully canon in Star Wars for a decade now.

40K doesn't have a claim on weapons with energy sheaths, much less any other sci-fi trope considering how much it has borrowed over the years.

Terminator droppods, full space marine biker army, rhino and tactical marine spam, assault marines and rhinos and bikes, psykers and such. Dont feel bad about playing something generic, its generic because GW actually puts love in the space marine codex because its what let them be where they today, and they respect it for that.

>>
>>43795158
Bastions have fire points for models inside. If a flamer template overlaps a fire point, the "no escape" rule for template weapons kick in. The unit inside is automatically hit d6 times (randomly allocated) with the S and AP of the weapon. So a Baleflamer hitting it would inflict d6 S6 AP3 hits, and Electroshock grubs will hit d6 times at S5 AP5. per template.

I wish the 5++ acted like a ward save, or something. Termies are way too weak against massed fire for their cost.

No matter what, youre going to get shot for one round atleast as whatever you are unless your target is locked in combat.
Id also argue that deep striking into rapid fire range of a unit that has no priority targets is dumb, distraction scouts or bikers work well, or deepstriking near the end of their line so you get shot at by only a squad or two instead of in the centre and eating shit.
Dont deepstrike tau gunlines. bad things happen.

You can probably get away with a generic chapter master on bike with TH/SS. White Scars and Ultramarines are preferable over IH unless you are playing some kind of vehicle list with actual tanks and not just Rhinos, which isn't recommended because marine tanks aren't that amazing. For everyone else, Ultramarines grants Tigurius, Red Scorpions grant superior FnP with Battle Company and Sevrin Loth, and White Scars grant the amazing gamebreaking Scout and Hit and Run.

Raven Guard are also good if you use their reserve cheesing formations.

Iron Warriors, Iron Hands, the Guard, and I feel like Tau being a good answer.

Well, I have a Sicaran and Fire Raptor, my plan before was Smashfucker, bike squads, Fire Raptor/Sicaran and a techmarine on bike and I didn't get much further than that.

Limit the squad size to five and bump the price up a little. Compared to other things currently in the game, it's pretty fucking tame. Especially since they'll only get a re-rollable 5++ against AP2.

Making things high toughness or bloating them with wounds as a way of bypassing small arms is extremely lazy.

My other plan was triple landraider spam with less bikes and scouts inside.

You know I used to thing buffing toughness with armour made no sense but...

The Tau do it.

The Necrons do it. (The fanciest bodies are more armoured and higher toughness)

So nyeh I guess Termies can do it.

Posting that image without also stating that it's from a time where even lasguns gave a -1 modifier to your armour save is a bit disingenuous.

Could an unmutated Chaos Marine just kinda...

Go "Fuck this", wander off and start being loyal again?
