>Hollow Die

I wish death upon he who hath created this monstrosity.
>>
Wouldn't that be unbalanced?
>>
>>43712380
Is that shit even legal? That either seems like it would be loaded or useless.
>>
That looks like it would bounce like crazy. What are your gripes with it?
>>
>>43712425

It's basically a skeleton die, like dice are little crustaceans and those are its shells.
>>
>>43712425
Unbalanced center of gravity. The one side will be heavier than the 6.
>>
>>43712859
Theoretically, you could machine it with non-uniform wall thicknesses so that it actually was balanced, but I doubt that's what actually happened.
>>
>>43712889
That sounds pretty hot, actually.
>>
What about air resistance?
>>
Many dice have pockets of air inside them that affect their balance, got a set of clear Skaven dice from GW themselves that had visible explosions of air inside and they roll 1s 90% of the time

>buying GW dice

You pretty much have only yourself to blame. GW dice are notoriously shitty.

Do you want the creator to die?
>>
>>43712889
Underrated post
>>
Are these printed or what? You can't mold that in one piece.
>>
>>43714176

Kill yourself.
>>
>>43712889
Or just make the holes larger the fewer there are.
>>
>>43714262
>You can't mold that in one piece.

Dice are not typically made of fungus. This die is no exception.
>>
>>43712889
>>43714292
The non uniform distributions of mass on the sides, regardless of wall thickness, would affect the moment of inertia of the die.
>>
>>43714671
How about its actually a whole object and the inside is filled with a super clear glass?
>>
>>43714729
Then clear dice are also an option in the first place I feel.
>>
>>43714729
It's not a uniform cube regardless, so the different distributions of mass thanks to the holes would still affect its rotation.

Keep in mind, this can be mitigated, but I doubt the die makers (and me) care enough to do the calculus for it.
>>
>>43714671
I doubt it'd matter much.
>>
>>43714783
What if the plastic weighs exactly as much as the glass?
>>
>>43714792
>Implying there aren't grognards autistic enough to actually calculate the error resulting from it.
"I did the math, and your die theoretically favors sixes by 0.05%, I won't allow it"
>>
>>43714805
Firstly, it'd have to be the same density, not weight; secondly, the glass would have to fill the pips. But yes, that would work.
>>
>>43713920
>You pretty much have only yourself to blame. >GW dice are notoriously shitty.

GW doesn't manufacture their own dice, they rebrand generic ones. MOST dice are shitty.

Basically every kind of dice where the pips give unevenly distributed results.
The companies who make them don't give a shit because the plastic saved from having hollow pips instead of solid ones like casino dice, is enough to make 1/4 of an extra dice or whatever. They don't care that you roll ones more often more than they care about saving on material cost per dice.
>>
Use casino die, roll in a felt lined box.
>>
>>43712401
If you varied the sizes of the holes you could have a balanced hollow die.
