/tg/ I have finally been blessed with the rarest and greatest boon that could ever be bestowed on another by a GM.
A wish, and I want /tg/'s help to make sure I don't waste it.
The character himself is a knight, chivalrous almost to the point of parody but in all other ways a completely normal knight who's been caught in an adventure involving bastard Queens and Gods and magic beings and demons and is basically way in over his head but still desperately clinging to Arthurian knightly values and mortal concepts such as "Honor" and "Renown" even as they are increasingly made irrelevant by the elevated beings around him.
He wants to prove himself as the "greatest and most honorable knight that ever lived" because he has a few family issues but also has a genuinely noble heart full of all that "smite evil protect the innocent stuff" that good and true knights are made of buried underneath his '2noble4knaves' surface of quixotic goofiness.
Also if it helps the God giving it to him is an Elf God of trees and nature and all that jazz.
Any help appreciated.
Sacrifice the wish for the good of the world or something, it's the ultimate chivalry!
Wish for true love.
>>43702863
Don't make the wish.
Anything you could get with that wish that's worth getting? You can get that without shortcuts. Work hard, defend the innocent, uphold justice, and do it all on your own terms.
I think the answer is obvious OP
Wish to take on all the peasantry's problems
OR
Wish that the peasantry's problems are never resolved.
Both will give you infinite renown in time.
>>43702863
Wish that somewhere else, a young child in a bad situation gets the miracle they needed to survive and grow up to be as chivalrous as your character, when you were not otherwise there to help them personally.
Maybe that character ends up being a PC if the world's reused later?
Wish for a waifu.
>>43703208
Don't ask for shortcuts then, but for the long road.
Ask for more time in this mortal plane, to make things RIGHT.
>>43703093
>>43703214
Well, I don't know if he could end all strife in the world or anything. He's powerful, but not omnipotent.

That would actually be pretty funny.
>>43703215
This is interesting. Consider this considered.
>>43703208
>>43703237
I like these. I've been thinking of something along the lines of "If there's one boon that you could grant to make me the greatest knight and man I could be, to serve both The Gods and my fellow mortals, I wish to have it."
>>43703350
Your character sounds wonderfully knightly and just.
10/10 would crusade against evil and protect the innocent with.
>>43702863
>Point at great evil in the setting
"I wish that evil was not bound to be evil, but could become good simply through effort and atonement for their actions, and become good. I am not wishing that they convert to simply beings of positive energy, but that the option for redemption and integration into a just and right society exists for each and every one of them."

>My character isSir Launcelot
Grails before females.
>>43703444
That's beautiful.
>>43703571
Might be out of the power scale of the Wish, though.
Which would be dangerous. I could see that Wish going both ways, and the PC having to deal with a converted/corrupted LG god. As a GM, that plot is incredibly worth following, even if it's a bastardization of the Wish intent.

The problem with this though is unfortunately that the God is not omnipotent, and the evil in the setting is sort of poorly explained. I think it's not so much a fallen angel then it is just a being of pure evil, and asking it to do good would be asking water to dry itself.
>>43703699
This is interesting, and I will also consider this. Because if there's one thing I like just as much as quixotic knights of glorious honor and chivalry it'svillain knights whose virtue has become corrupt over time, eventually seeking to ruthlessly purge the world of whatever they perceive to be 'sin' in the name of their warped values
>>43703738
Wish for a understanding of its weaknesses to be given to those who seek to stop it
>>43703738
It's that way in all dndlikes; atonement doesn't work on outsiders normally. Your first attempt at a wish should be to make it work on only evil outsiders.
>>43702863
Wish to be connected to the land so that your purity and honor is a weapon against the corruption and forces of sin, excess, greed as they spread across the land and devestate it

>>43702863
Wish for something that isn't something you can or would even remotely feasibly get otherwise, for other's benefits. Be it for a miracle to happen to save others, lives to be given back to someone, making some evil somewhere have the chance if not turn towards good and honor, grant some chance elsewhere.
>>43703889
Not with a immortal mind and soul. A mind that will last through the stress of ages and a soul that will not tarnish from the ages. He must stay true to his quest and he will one day achieve the impossible dream.
>>43704339
Doesn't matter if it's immortal. After a long enough period he'll want to die. Be tired of life.

wish for a fully general solution to the coordination problem.

>>43704947
Maybe for all paladins in setting to get full caster progression. It's going to be a brave new world of smiting.
>>43704678
He was courting the queen.
It's kind of similar to waifuing, except with an actual goal to work towards.
He would dedicate his tournament victories, train harder, and try and be a better person for her honor and approval. You know those 'do it for her' things? Like that, but actually doing something.
The problem was that he was so popular and could probably beat Arthur in a tournament fight.
The only knight who had what we would call a normal relationship was Tristain. It didn't work out for him.
>>43705376

>not wishing for a magical badass sword
come on dog
>>43706811
But Anon I already have a badass sword.
It's something out of a Power Rangers episode, it shoots divine energy in bolts of fire/lightning whenever it detects something evil, and I can shout at it to change it's shape/properties as a weapon. I've already killed a shitload of monsters, one big monster, and an actual factual demon with it.It was actually revealed that it made as a letter opener of the second most powerful god in the setting, and every single time one of those immortal beings notices/mentions it they all act amazed and bewildered that I'm using it as a weapon. I think the implication is if I got some real divine firepower on my hands I'd be incinerated because of my pleb mortality.
>>43703699
I think this is the most poetic. I imagine him campaigning against evil for thousands of years. From sword to musket to rifle to assault rifle and beyond. He will outlast his species, but he may still find evil in the universe. Eventually he will outlast evil itself. And as all matter breaks down around him in the end of the universe, he will remain. I beakon of light in infinite darkness
>>43703659
More like:
>goes to fight corrupted LG God[MER/ /CY]
>>43707067
Holy shit anon this post might have single handedly convinced me.
>Eventually, his world has died, and all evil within destroyed.
>He has done his job, and rests until the very planet itself erodes to dust and casts him to space
>He wanders the stars aimlessly for eons
>Eventually, by fate or coincidence he crashes to a new world, with new evils, and resumes his eternal crusade.
I would probably have to prove my worth like >>43706607 said, so I don't end up like >>43703738
>>43707293
After many trillion years alone in the void he sees a brilliant point of light that slowly expands until he sees galaxies and nebulae zooming past him. The universe has been reborn, and with it the rebirth of evil. For his quest is endless and eternal
>>43707580
>The Universe goes dark another time as the final stars begin to die
>Sir Knight remains, no one left to remember his name.
>He is the matter preventing maximum entropy.
>He is the single point of light in the darkness
>He is the will of Law and Good keeping the universe alive.
>And the next universe is born, Sir Knight knows that there is evil inside of it, and knows that by existing he has created it.
>He is responsible for it.
>And he is responsible for destroying it.
One problem with the immortality dealio
He's not even close to being the only immortal :P There is an entire land in the West that is full of them. He'd not be alone in his fight against evil.
He'd have buddiiiies.
>>43708624

>>43702863
Oh god, a wish. This can go so fucking wrong... You say this god isn't the most powerful in existence, but is giving you one shot? How about you refuse it with a cheap excuse?
>So, what you want?
>Nothing. Life is good.
When gods are literally in front of you granting wishes is because shit is about to get real. Want eternal life? Boom, you're now a tree man.
Be really careful for what you ask for. Alternatively just ask for a bag of choc-dick.
>>43702863

If it makes you feel better, Immortality works differently in this setting than just "Living Forever"
Most Immortals are basically Gods/Angels, most of whom live in Paradise. To become elevated to immortality is basically apotheosis. There's no ethereal plane or ethereal beings (Besides actually being dead, which isn't really an elevated state of soul either), even if there's a God that exists in between all dimensions or whatever he's still material.
Immortality is Sir Knight's means to, over infinite life, purifying himself of all sins to become Divine, and that's literally the best thing anyone could ever become in the setting.
>>43721314
He's the one who created Elves and Trees, he's not enslaved by them.
>>43719827
>to their surprise, the figure rises

>we begin to edge away, terrified of its new abomination our foe has summoned, when it pulls out a sword and charges into battle. It pauses sometimes, its head cocked as if trying to discern something, then it will charge towards a new foe and smite it with the power of a strange god.
>It's been twenty years since that day. The creature wanders the land without rest, determining targets by a process we can't divine and hunting them relentlessly to death. Sometimes he's on our side, sometimes he strikes down one of our great generals or politicians without a word of explanation. They seem to be flawed individuals by a moral code we've only begun to see the rough shape of.
