Pretty cool, senpai.

I'm tempted to use them in my Macross game, but I don't know if I want to go all out with the giant aliens.
>>
I think Chiss and Arkanian offshoots probably both count. So yes.
>>
>>43701736
No, but now I'm going to go masturbate to some blue space elves. Thanks OP.

Yes.

They were ultra-capitalist space assholes who had managed to almost wipe out and enslave the remnants of the biggest military threat species in the galaxy in the time it took for humanity to realise said race were massing for war and assemble its fleet. By the time humanity's "first strike" reached the victim's homeworld they found a well-established colonial government and an invasion fleet pointed at human worlds.
>>
Sort of. Typical medieval fantasy, they were aliens that crash-landed on the planet and couldn't exactly leave so made their own small civ. It was a pretty interesting mechanic the DM had in the setting. They weren't blue though.
>>
>>43702029
Oh, my god. THAT abomination is why he stopped the comic for so long? Jesus christ, did he at no point stop to look at his super special 3d shuttle and go "Wait, this looks like SHIT with the art" and go back to doing it properly?

Muh dick is let down.

Cool your turbines there, Maverick. I'm pretty sure that's an extremely generic, fast-to-slap-together The Original Series Star Trek background, very fast and simple to do. I highly doubt he put as much time into that as he puts into the sets he's using for the main comic.

Here, have a blue space elf laying the mack on a very surprised human bean.

I don't think draenei or whatever the best girl was supposed to represent count as space elves though.

Chromatic babes in general are quite commonplace though.

Yes, along with a whole host of rubber forehead aliens, but it's justified by human genetic engineering and one faction who consider "morphological freedom" and "genetic self-determination" to be fundamental human rights.

iirc they have a disparity of male to female heavily in favor of females. I don't know if they are dykes or not but their males don't see military service or much of anything dangerous so females tend to actually spend a lot of time without any males around. Though that's like one of two things I know about those comics, that, and it updates slowly/irregularly.

Isn't that diluting the term "elf" when it doesn't have any meaning anymore, except maybe "looks human, but is not quite so"?

I'd say definition of an elf should have more to it. Like pointy ears, sophisticated civilisation, arrogance and/or respect for natural environment.
>>
>>43705127
It sounded more like Autonomists in general, but yeah.
>>
>>43706867
It's more shorthand for a cluster of ideas
>>
>>43705127

I decided to make up my own setting for my group's Traveller game because [s]Aslan are dumb[/s] I just enjoy worldbuilding that much, and I ended up having Eclipse Phase transhumanity fill the same role as the Ancients. Funnily enough, EP's (relatively) hard sci-fi justifies Space Opera implausibilities pretty well;

>The galaxy is full of 'alien' species that are clearly just humans with some adaptations to different environments and a lot of cosmetic changes, to the extent that Earthlings can have viable 'half-alien' offspring.
>Females from these species always look like attractive human women even if the males look like Admiral Ackbar.
>For some reason.
>Even the species with meaningfully different physiologies usually have basically human values and mindsets and can articulate human languages reasonably well.
>Alien species that do have strong psychological tendencies almost always fit into some human wackjob's political agenda or idea of 'utopia' (warrior race guys, harmony with nature guys, free love and drugs guys)
>Humans can go to alien planets and eat/be eaten by native organisms.

And for aspects of the Traveller setting in particular;

>A fallen civilization genetically tampered with other lifeforms and spread them to a bunch of planets for no discernible practical purpose.
>The leftover scraps of that civilization are incomprehensibly powerful technological marvels that can start or end interstellar wars.
>Uplifting semi-intelligent species is common practice.
>A lot of societies have strong cultural and legal prohibitions against technological immortality and intelligent AI because they're convinced it'll go too far and fuck everything up.
>Psionics are apparently still a thing. Unfortunately.
>Damn dirty megacorps!

Clearly the standard sci-fi setting is transhumanity building its way back up from a Second Fall. I'm going to have a faction that worships the 'Precursors' as gods find a scum barge still going strong after 8,000 years.

What happens when technological immortality goes strong?

Bitch, what happens is fucking.
Not "fucking [bad things]." Just fucking. Folks BONE. They recombine into new and interesting configurations for BONING! Lots of groinal action.

And if you try to start shit with them, out come the Reapers and the plasma cannons.

Really, just leave them to do them. Or go join them in doing them. It's best for everyone if they go unmolested, though. I mean, unless they're into that sort of thing.

Nah.

I'm not a big fan of humanoid aliens, be they of the rubber forehead or blue space babe variety. The idea a sapient alien organism would look like a human, act like a human, and be able to fuck a human just doesn't impress me. It's just not plausible or interesting, and really makes things too goofy for me.

I remember reading the Forever War, and the main character internally dissects the indoctrination he went through to make him hate the aliens he was fighting. He dismissed things like them being interested in raping human women or being capable of eating and metabolizing human flesh as ridiculous.

The sci fi game I've been running does involve aliens, but they're not really humanoid and people have only had contact with them through their army of killbots.

Overall I've just found it harder and hard to really enjoy "soft" science fiction. Things like lightspeed hyperdrives and civilizations of sexy green aliens just don't do it for me anymore.

Huniepop.

It's a dating sim match-3 puzzle game.
>>
>>43712862
It would only be implausible if the universe around it suggested it was. Common route of ancestry millennia ago? Essentially same genetic starting place and mutations happen separately forming very different lifeforms later.

Its only implausible if you want to make it implausible.

The draenei are actually the same species as demons, just not evil or teeming with evil energy.

They are still corrupted though, just by a primal force of good rather than one of evil.

Huh. I was just struck with a really bad setting idea.

Suppose an advanced race of aliens with a culture spanning hundreds/thousands of solar systems foresaw their inevitable ruin (Seldon that shit, who knows) and decided to engineer some lifeforms that could eventually evolve into intelligent species. Each system developed their own, but the one commonality they kept was that all these species could interbreed. Or at least it would be very difficult for them to lose that compatibility.
