So I've been thinking of a plot for my EotE players. I've never done a Star Wars or any scifi game, so how's this:

Mostly different membership, maybe, but there were still several members confirmed to have served the old Empire as well. The Empire of the Hand, while technically different from the Galactic Empire, was still founded and ruled by Thrawn, who was himself a pretty villainous dude under Palps' command. Then there were assholes like Turr Phennir still running around in high-ranking positions, too.
That brings up another issue as well. A massive chunk of the Imperial brass hate the Alliance. If things ever broke out into open war, whose side would she take?

I think it sounds good. Maybe put a pin in the Jedi plot until you get through the Hutt part of their adventure. Their characters and backstories and interactions up to that point might give you other ideas for their main quest. Provided they don't refuse the deal and make a big enemy of the Hutt in the process.

Just bought the X-Wing TFA Core along with Rebel Aces, and a Z-95 while my friend picked up the OG Core, Imperial Aces, and a TIE Expansion. We're gonna trade the opposing faction contents of each Core to each other.
Anyways I'm looking forward to playing my first game of X-Wing sometime this week. Got any tips? I've watched a few vids, read some articles, and learned the basics of the game, but any advice would be appreciated.

As a joke, we were going to do a one-off game of a band of Sanyassan Marauders going to Endor and slaughtering Ewoks. Our GM was even going to give us a sexy milf nightsister to direct our quests. On our junk freighter, we were shooting the shit, developing our characters before we landed on Endor for some Ewok murdering, trying to differentiate our 4 Sanyassan and build up some NPC minions. Make it an enjoyable night. GM asked us to roll navigation, we failed, and we thought our witch boss' response of disappointment was just a joke and we were going to Endor anyway. We landed on a heavily forested planet just like we expected.
Except we landed on Kashyyyk, home of the wookies.

So of course our dumbass marauders go balls-out and try to murder some wookies because we think they're ewoks. And our GM is rolling hard, and we're getting our asses kicked. We laugh our asses off at our dumbass Sanyassan PCs going full-ork on these wookies who are just butchering us in self-defense. And somehow, 2 of the PCs and one of our minions survive the fight and we retreat, crashing our ship to end the night.
It was so much fun, we kept pulling it up every now and then for future sessions. That surviving minion became a PC, and our 4th player rolled up a Trandoshan, and gave us new lizard mercs to fight wookies with because they heard of our foolish exploits. Only 3 sessions in, but we're trying to get as many laughs out of it as possible.
Just for shits and giggles I want to plug this into a list.

Just be sure to remember that Tactician only works if they're in your firinf arc.
It does however work with extra fire arcs, such as the Hound's Tooth or Firespray's extra arc(s).

What type of bounty hunter? Range or melee? Talky and scummy at all? Any prestige classes you're aiming for?
Best way to start would be scout for skills and maybe evade, then switch over to soldier and focus on talents that help with your signature weapon.

Focus and Evade have two very distinct purposes. Focus is for when you don't know whether or not you're going to want to buff your attack or defense. But you want something... It's probably best for low PS Generics, for both survivability and for increasing damage if they get ignored.
Evade is like a free extra shield for that turn only (or a single +1 result to stave off a TLT attack). It only helps your defense, unless you're using the soon to be added Juke. It's generally better on higher PS ships that will be priority targets, or on ships that can't normally dodge well.
The two combined is called Turtling, as you're shoring up your defenses and sitill giving yourself some potential offense if needed. It's also why Soontir Fel is so good, as he can get boh off a single PtL action. I've started refering to it as "Sand Bagging" when somone is piling a bunch of tokens of either/both type.

I feel they go pretty well with the TIE Defender. Get Alozen and Strom up in there with the ATC and shove them down the opponent's throat while Vessery sits back and snipes with a HLC and all the re-rolls he could ever want.

Dude, I know you're regretting paying that much, and you will until you finally use the Raider. But the Tie X1 Titles are worth it, and the Advanced Pilots are pretty fucking awesome.
Vader with Advanced Targeting Computer and PtL or Vet Instincts is pretty solid right now. And a lot of the target lock shenanigan pilots are good if flying around the shuttle that can target lock anything and hand out target locks.
But my personal favorite pilot out of the Raider is Juno. Run her with Advanced Sensors, PtL, and either the Tie MkII Ion engine or Engine Upgrade. If you're savvy with her, and know your maneuver placements, she's practically unblockable. The only downfall is the limited offense, which can be supplemented with a 3pt Procket.
Another fun one is a bunch of low-skill Advanced pilots sporting free Accuracy Correctors. Don't even need to fucking bother with anything other than barel rolls or evades. Your shooting basically boils down to "did I get at least a crit and a hit? No? Ok, 2 hits it is!"

Just muddy the actions of the two parties to make it less obvious who's good and who's evil. Put the Jedi in a compromising position where they make questionable decisions (Clone Wars, Mandalorian Wars, etc) while making the Sith scheme unintentionally beneficial to the Galaxy.

Eh... I found that while Epic does take longer, X-Wing is so back and forth that it stays interesting. It's not like other mini games where you're waiting for your opponent to finish their entire turn. Also you can always do "mini-Epic" games, by just limiting it to 200pts a side.

Depending on how much piloting your character is doing and how close range you're going to be in combat, you might want a level or two of scum for starship talents and point blank shot. I'm not at my house so I don't know the prereqs for bounty hunter but you'll need to keep those in mind as you level.
What's the rest of your group like? Saga is one of those systems were you can make a fun character easily. However it's almost as easy to break the system.

Admittedly it was outdated by the Rebellion, but the Arc-170 was built as a heavy fighter. The rear-fire arc, 3 man crew which could give it a crew upgrade slot, and astromech slot might make it an interesting ship to play.
Somewhere between a Y-wing and X-wing in terms of maneuvers and firepower.
Though making sure it doesn't outshine its successors while still being a viable choice in X-Wing might be a challenge.

Are there "best buddies" lists in X-Wing? Ones where the team is build to synergize with every other ship, using actions and abilities on each other to trade tokens, relieve stress, and otherwise make the team strong as a whole? Or is it mostly lists build to support a strong heavy starfighter or two?

I don't think PTL is very good on Vader. His dial has very little greens, so he has a hard time clearing stress unless you give him the mk. 2 engines, and that means no engine upgrade. Predator's better for him.

Doesn't sound too power gamy or Jedi oriented. I'd go 3 levels for the prereqs in scout then take soldier weapon talents, hit dice, and attack bonus. If you go more into scout evade is a must and you can make yourself damn stealthy if want to make a sniper. Focus on things that will either drop your opponents on the condition track easier or make it easier to hit their damage threshold to get boom headshots.
This probably isn't optimized and is mostly off the top of my head but should get you a competent character. Also

I could not recommend this enough. Virtually everything about it is perfect. A VSD fits snuggly in the bottom tray slots and the top part has more than enough small trays to organize literally EVERYTHING.

PtL is a bit overkill on Vader, but it does allow him to barrel roll and still Focus and Target Lock for his Advanced Tageting Computer. I agree however that there are other really good alternatives, and not everything always has to have PtL. Predator, Outmaneuver, Veteran Instincts of going for PS security, Crackshot, and Juke can all be solid picks for him.
PtL does work well with Engine Upgrade, but the other guy's right about the lack of greens. Still, if you run him with some Wingman EPT generics, who the fuck cares about your greens at that point?

It came out a while ago, nobody's really talking about it. I keep hearing it has good ship/vehicle list but it's not like FFG posts an index online or anything. More adversaries are cool, but I'm always interested in what more stuff options are out there.
Today i learned what a fucking troll choice Dark Curse can be. He was the top scorer in a list consisting of PTL-Auto Fel, ACD-VI-FCS Echo, Dark Curse and Night Beast VS fully pimped Jake, BB-8 Wedge and a Gold Sq A2-TLT Stressbot
Dark Curse & Night Beast were the only survivors, both unhurt, when all was said and done.
Well, I was willing to give EA the benefit of the doubt, but after playing Battlefront for a few hours I'm gonna have to agree with the people predicting it would suck.

Dark Curse is a complete fucking troll, much like Carnor Jax. That said, you *can* kill him, you just need to focus fire and one-two punch, much like Super-Fel. But yeah, if you're playing Empire and have 16pts to burn... You'll be hard pressed to find a better choice than him.

Soldier hit die and attack bonus are the two draws to it as a class. It also gets the most bonuses to specializing in a weapon set through talents. Scout is solid and has more versatile, all around talents that encourage creative play.
It's really up to you-do you want to be a tricksy bh or tanky bh. You will be able to do both later-saga out of all the d20s makes multi classing easy to do and incorporate into builds.

I lost Dark Curse on the first turn today to Bossk. He rolled 3 natural hits, used Merc Copilot to turn one to a crit, I rolled one evade, and he turned the crit into more two hits. I still won the game, but losing 16 supposedly survivable points in one volley sure dragged down morale.
We got our latest Return to Hoth preview (pic related) for Imperial Assault today, and it is underwhelming. I honestly think his best use is with probe droids, so they can use his stun or focus surge abilities. Blue/yellow/yellow/green is a pretty powerful attack.
The rest of the pack is pretty underwhelming, though.

They're a huge threat, but I don't think they're efficient enough in skirmish play. In campaign missions where the Imperial player doesn't have to pay to play them, and they just show up as part of the mission, they're great.
His vehicle synergy is probably better with the upcoming speeder tank, honestly. But it still has the problem of being so big that it has trouble moving around.

I've been running 3 ship lists-not a lot of mooks for my rebels. But I do use a lot of B-wings and Hwks. B-wings are one of those ships that require another b-wing on the field or another group distracting the enemy to help split fire away from its 1 agility. Otherwise they can be focused down pretty quickly. Hwks work best when other ships synergize-I run a pretty fun Wes, Wedge, and Jan list. Wes has veteran instincts, shoots first and strips tokens, Wedge has opportunist, and Jan boosts Wedge's attack from 4 to 5.
With your list as is, it looks like you're running the a and z to block/distract while Luke and Corran joust. Given how offensive you're going with Corran, you might consider switching Luke out with Wedge and dropping that munitions failsafe. Luke tanks best when he has more upgrades on him, like R2-D2.
If you feel gutsy and your meta will allow, you could drop the headhunter completely, buff Corran and Luke, and get Jake or Tycho. Corran and Jake/Tycho flank and annoy, Luke tanks, and you can probably still fit that assault missile on the a-wing if you feel like you need a swarm deterrent.

The guy next to him on the far right, is Zuckuss. He's going to be the PS-7 top-ace of the same ship, as the two work together a lot. Zuckuss' ability is to allow you (if you choose) to add 1 red die to any attack he makes. If you do this, the opponent adds 1 green die.
As far as the ship itself goes, it's the Scum B-Wing. 3 Attack, 1 Dodge, 4 Hull, 4 Shield, Focus, Target Lock, Evade. Upgrades are Crew, System, Illicit. If you take the Mistrunner Title (0pts), you gain a cannon slot that MUST be filled with a Tractor Beam (1pt), and you gain the Barrel Roll action.
