Give me some inspiration as to what it might look like. Character is a ranger.

What's their personality and style like? You want something that matches them in some way that they'll be happy to wear.
If your ranger is more long-range oriented, more simplistic designs would work better. The enemy won't be close enough most of the time to see or make out any real level of detail.
If they are more close-range oriented, then detail can come in handy. Realistic designs might provide more of a psychological edge, implying to the enemy that this is some kind of creature or monster rather than a person.

I'm usually within 30ft of my enemies, paladin in the front hacking away, me firing through him to pincushion the foe.
My ranger's personality is more or less a brooding quiet type - kinda like Geralt.

Alright. Basic levels of details would work at that kind of distance. Contrasting colors, wrinkles/creases in the mask, etc. You're gonna want something with some larger than usual eyes so your ranger can properly aim without the mask getting in the way.
Overall basic oni masks like in the OP would work. They're very obvious designs but also very simple. As long as you don't go with something like a tengu mask with a massive beak-nose, it would work pretty well.

That's because that's Dagoth's personality. He's not some cult leader super villian, he's a caring patriarch who's just trying to get down to business and protect the interests of his people. Not because of some burning hate boner, but because its his job and he want to do it swiftly and professionally. Add in the fact that reason he is treating you thusly is because, to him at least, he's basically saying high to his brother who decided to visit from out of town.

You could do that but bigger horns will also draw more attention to you. More attention means guys might try to home in on you rather than go after your more subtle teammates. Plus big horns might catch on something while you're moving around.

Not that getting their attention is inherently bad. While they're focusing on getting to you, you can be shooting at them. And if they're distracted by you your teammates can either pick them off or at least hurt them.
