Oh fuck, /tg/. I'm DM'ing tomorrow and I've spent all week ignoring my duties to play Fallout.

I need quests. Simple town quests to give to my PCs until they level up and take on their first dungeon. Gimme some ideas that don't completely suck.

I have to sleep for now but I'll read them all when I wake up.
>>
Take a quest from Fallout 4, change names and creatures and location. Add or remove what is needed. Stop posting on /tg/ asking to GM for you.
>>
>>43635945
Never fear, /tg/ is here, to fix all your GMing fuck-ups.

A rebellious child has wandered away from the village. The players must find the young vagabond and escort him back home. There's all sorts of variations you can tack onto that premise.

>Several guards tired of low wages and long hours have taken an entire tavern hostage.
>A tiefling orphan compulsively kills and tortures small animals, and needs either a good home or a stern talking to so they walk away from the path of evil.
>Otyugh in the sewers, players will have to position themselves carefully so that it doesn't get a chance to hit them.
>Several farmers in the fields have been infected with tetanus.
>A critically wounded demon falls from a gate in the sky, and begins to rampage. The only cold iron weapon is at the museum, and is the only thing for miles that can kill him.
>A ghoul who works an honest gravedigging job is tired of being harassed on a nightly basis by a zealous cleric.

>>43635945
The 3.5 and Pathfinder DMG all have a handy-dandy d100 chart of plot hooks. Don't roll on it, because most of them are mid-level stuff, but look at them for inspiration.
>>
>>43635968
Do this only if your players haven't YET played Fallout 4, so you can spoil the juiciest twists and ruin their fun when they realize what you did.

Important Information:

The city is a trade hub for the local area, with numerous merchants moving through its gates each day to set up market in the square and resupply before moving on towards the center of the nation. Two of the most lucrative things to come through the city are furs brought in from Vertmist, a smaller community on the edges Dorhill forest. The city is ruled over by Viscount Hopyc and his family, who rule from their fortified manor house. Rumors persist that the Hopyc family has some form of magic blood running through their veins, but these are merely whispers spread from drunk men to naïve boys. Their enforcers are lead by a man who does not use weapon or armor, but has in the past wrestled a man twice his size to the ground putting him in irons.

The local Druid Circle and Church are at odds. The clerics of Helm are lead Ralphye Wake, an old Halfling with a long running animosity with elves. The druids, who call themselves the circle of trout and tail and lead by a haughty wood elf named Quennasaer. Though their distaste for each other has not yet come to blows it could at any time.

On the edge of town the tanneries constantly dump their putrid chemicals into the river flow down towards the sea. Among them are the more poor of the city. Living here is an old man named Narder Giles, an spiteful senior who has in the past brought in on multiple occasions for starting fires and casting spells illegally. Occasionally the young and ambitious go to him asking to be taught magic, but nearly all are turned away.
>>
>>43636075
Additional Information and Gossip:
The halflings under the leadership of Ralphye do not like the elves of the city. The elves do not have a strong similar animosity.

Viscount Hopyc is respected as a just ruler, keeping the peace in his city at all costs.

In the center of the town a massive statue on an elf holding a branch stands, eroded and chipped from time. Rumors says it was part of an ancient elven city that stood in this very spot. It has been graffitied multiple times as of late.

The merchants are known to be greedy and squeeze every penny of the citizens that they can manage.

Lately there have been several deaths of men on the edge of the city, this corpses seemingly mauled by a wild animal. A few people have claimed to have spotted an enormous owlbear.

The black dog is a quiet bar often frequented by off duty guards who want to enjoy some drinks before stumbling back to their homes.

The Weary Toad is a large loud bar right next to the druid’s lodge on the south side of town. It is often visited by merchants and men seeking work as guards for the wealthy travelers.

The town’s two brothels are The King’s Pinkie and Quivering Hills, one in the merchant’s quarter and the other in the slums. The former is rather high end with a clientele including the fatter merchants and occasionally, it is rumored, the eldest son if the Viscount. The other has a shadier visitors, thieves and vagabonds, and supposedly connections to a smuggling ring
>>
>>43636078
Massive owlbear been mauling people on the edge of the slums. Rumor has it that it is supernaturally large. People are blaming the druids for meddling with nature, and in particular the priests of Helm are supporting this theory.

Traveler came into town recently claiming something has moved into the old mill upriver and has been dumping things into it. I'm gonna have the tanneries (big buildings near the river) dredge up a course a few days into the campaign.

The township of Vertmist has been taken over by a gang of bandits that are now forcing the trappers that live there to pay enormous protection fees. This in turn is driving fur prices up as they pass through Ostston. Several merchants have come together to offer a reward for the gang leader's head.

To the east lies an abandoned fort, which once stood on the boarder between the empire and another country. However after the last war land grabs have caused its once strategic location to lose significance and it has fallen into disrepair. A messenger from the capital has come with a missive, offering a reward for whoever can clean the place out of what ever had taken up residence and restore it to working order.

I've had some fun with this one.

The leg-breaker of a local moneylender drunkenly offers them his cut of the proceeds if they'll go to the local family of troublemakers to collect this months repayment and find out whether they were involved in the recent disappearance of his employer. The moneylender disappeared under a week ago and the leg-breaker strongly suspects their involvement but doesn't trust his own temper enough to verify it himself.

The local law is aware of the leg-breaker's concerns but doesn't share them and are pursuing other avenues of investigation. The family - an extended household of dirt farmers and inter-married siblings - will resist paying with every excuse under the sun (the family member responsible for the accounts is away right now, they already paid this month, etc.) and suggestion of their involvement in the disappearance will result in indignant rage directed at anyone with the gall to impugn their honor.

Possible Outcomes:

A. The moneylender was killed by a relative of the local law and it is being covered up (in this scenario they are looking more closely at the family as potential patsies, but not letting on to the PCs). As things progress they may decide the PCs look like better potential suspects.

B. The leg-breaker killed the moneylender in a spur of the moment murder when he was caught skimming money by demanding larger payments from customers he figured were less likely to dare complain. The moneylender's body is currently hidden in a disused privy in an alley near his house which has been nailed shut. The leg-breaker will follow the PCs and try to use their actions to implicate the family without exposing himself.

C. The moneylender has been kidnapped by a third party who intends to ransom him. When the demand for payment comes in after the PC's initial actions, the family catches wind and will attempt to scoop the ransom money and sour the trade, hoping to rid themselves of their outstanding debt simultaneously.

That's sidequest material, I guess.

>Dwarves threatened by serial barber.
Alright, an adventure hook, something to get them started on the path of the larger campaign.

>Fledgeling Lich captures our hearts with his story of ambition, hot blackguards and flying zombie sharks.

This is it. It's perfect. I know exactly how to make this happen.
All I need to do is find a nice picture for the hot Blackguard, add in a young inventor-mage to invent cinema and film everyone's exploits and a way to convince the players not to try to kill the lich on sight.
