You'll deny portion of the biomass but not all of it.
Because we then would have to waste precious cargo space for gasmasks that could be used to transport ammo. It depletes manpower at a faster rate when you guardsmen fail to put on your masks in time and we have to fly in even more guards. Again, space that could have been used for ammo.
