How does the cyberarm gyromount work? Does it reduce recoil by 3, 6 or 18?

It gives 3 RC when active. Blame CGL's poor wording.

Reposting from last thread:

Question for GMs. For the sake of Banishing, how many services do you typically have for your enemy spirits?

Also, anyone have ways to make Banishing not suck?
>>
>>43609087
1: Given to spirits summoned for spontaneous combat encounters.

2: Given to spirits on site at low priority locations.

4: Given to spirits on site at high priority locations.

Force rating: Given to random free spirits.
>>
/srg/ I need your characters. I'm going to run a filler mission for my party and I'm going to assign them each a new character. Standard runner: priority, sum-to-ten, karma anything goes. Our party likes more flavor less crunch.

The missions idea is to run LAN tournament for Shadowrun Online, where they get to play assigned shadowrunner for a mission. Party is street level teen gangers, so I figured I would let them have a taste of real shadowrunning.

Any specific power level or archetypes? Do they need to be tied to a specific area or group.

I imagine that the game's default characters are the obvious: Goblinized muscle, elf face, etc.

Anyways, here's one: Troll adept from a bad town, walking the line between being a good Catholic and working for the Mafia. Priority build, nothing fancy.
>>
>>43609614
To clarify, by 'power level' I meant 'die pool size'; even at standard you can find a wild swing based on the chargen method and amount of minmaxing. >>43610004 is at about 15 dice for their main abilities.

So Ive been thinking about CFD and the matrix;
Now I may have missed it but it seems like when you are jacked into the matrix, more and more of your mind is somewhat external to your body; especially if you make it to the Foundation (I also realism that astral projecting may be similar, but that's not my field).
Now from my understanding CFD is a virus similar in function to HMHVV but as time progresses more and more of your personality and mind are taken over.

So my question is: If your mind is divorced from your body via the Foundation or Astral Projection and you get infected with CFD what occurs; would your body be able to walk around despite being link-locked; could it be used to delay the infection until the new personality possibly calms down or to just delay the inevitable

If your mind was in the Foundation (or any other part of the Matrix) I would say that wouldn't particularly matter to the virus; it still has access to your wetware, which it will reprogram as necessary following the directions of the nanites burrowing into your brain. It takes a while before it has any level of control, so unless you're hooked up to some life support system while your mind is out in the Host of Blackjack and Hookers until the virus takes over and unplugs you (at which point your mind shatters, leaving at best an e-ghost and most likely with it dead and gone) it's not likely it could happen. Still, if your particular CFD personality was crafty enough, it could hide out in your brain until it was fully assembled, then take control while you are jacked in.

Then your e-ghost finds the PCs and offers them every cent left in it's bank account if they can track down the 'person' who stole their body and get revenge.

For the astral, it's a bit more tricky, because they haven't fully explained the rules of how CFD reacts with Essence, and if losing your soul/life-force/whatever your astral projection will kill your body outright if there's another mind in there.

Guys, help me out.
I want to build a heavy-weapons guy who relies on Vindicator and its supressive Fire to deal Damage (Vindicator does 1.5x Base Damage on supressive Fire with an optional german rule).

I'm probably going for an Orc, but i have no idea what to do next, since i don't want to end up with a one-trick-pony.
Should i go Adept or Cyber? Probably need to take a backup Weapon, and some sort of second specialisation, but what? Help me out here, /tg/.

Drive up to the Sioux border. Make it stop raining on their side of the border, while keeping the rain (and the plant growth) for yourself. Play racist country music from your gas-guzzling truck as you wave both hands in the air, one with an American flag and the other with a middle finger.

I was thinking about something not related to combat, but punching people looks like a good backup in combat, since i already gave him bone lacing.

Russian sounds also good, but wouldn't that one shy away from using evul murikkan capitalist weaponry like vindicator?

Maybe i should make him Austrian-American with a heavy accent?
Still, any input for a non-combat occupation is appreciated.

Omae, please, tf2.

Anyways, for non-combat, you might want to tailor your non-combat roles to fill in gaps your squad has empty.

OR, you could do it by flavor. Maybe he likes to brew beer. Or maybe he has a passion for weapon design and manufacture.

Okay Guys, take a look at this.
Its still WIP and i have a shitton of Skillpoints left (14), as well as 8 Karma.

I think he will be an Ex-Russian Army Guy living in Seatle, working for the Vory.
Of course he is a Vodka-Addict and loves combat, the typical "russian soul" should be doable via "bipolar".

Regarding Knowledge Skills, I'm thinking about russian literature, Army, Gang Warfare and Gambling.
Any other ideas?

I'll stick with the Vindicator though, building something around its unique rate of fire was the original idea for the character.

Hey Yekka, "Jack of all trades" is broken again.
It applies the reduction during chargen, and fucks up the amount of Karma counted for positive qualities.

Weapon accesories on restricted gear also don't work, they are counted as restricted items themselves, preventing the char from being created.

Electronic firing doesn't seem to add recoil compensation to some Weapons
>>
>>43618885

Russia has mandatory drafting, not accepting ex-military would make the Vory pretty much unable to accept any Russians

Black Magic, specializes in intimidation/interrogation and making people's lives unpleasant. A decent shot with revolvers; I decided to go for "trick ammo" with the biggest cylinder available and ammo skip. Spell loadout is similarly focused on making things vastly uncomfortable, though sustained Illusion spells could put a target down nonlethally.

Pay .1-.3 essence for the connector to be added to your body, then pay the cost of the cyberlimb in essence when you attach it on. When you remove the arm/foot/whatever, it creates an essence sink that you can fill in with a replacement part. If the new part costs more essence than the previous one, you lose the difference.

My first character was a decker/rigger (it was 4th edition so he could get away with it). He was born and raised in Texas, and his entire family, including himself, are all elves. He has two older brothers, a middle brother who is Awakened and is a talented gunslinger adept with a cowboy motif, although he's not very bright, and an eldest brother who actively suppresses his Texan accent in favor of a neutral, "generic" American accent. The middle brother is a Shadowrunner who fights the good fight against megacorps and organized crime, while the eldest brother is a corporate spy working for Saeder-Krupp. They don't get along at all, but they both seem to love their youngest bro unconditionally. Middle bro wants the youngest to join him in the shadows, being the brain to his brawn, while the eldest brother wants his youngest bro to get a real job, make some real money, and most importantly, stay out of danger.

>Foldingstock + Shockpad

Nope, needs a rigid stock

You could also ditch the "improved accuracy: Automatics", for now, since your Dice Pools are way to low to even hit Acc 8 remotely, not speaking of your 9.
I'd get one level of freefall with it, being able to jump an additional 3 Meters down somewhere without hurting yourself is always usefull.
>>
>>43620032
>>43620186
I'm not sure if you can add a shock pad to a folding stock, but Run & Gun says that the two don't stack if you have both.
>>
Quick idea for 5e houserule:
Firearms use Physical Limit in place of Accuracy.
Accuracy is now a slight bonus to Limit.
Accuracy stats reduced to one-third or one-half currently listed values.

Y/N? It just cheeses me off how useless Physical Limit is in this one case.
>>
>>43620259

Eh, then you will have holdouts with accuracy like sniper rifles. Reduce accuracy of 4 by 3 (rounded up) and it's +2. Take an accuracy of 9 (my current SVD), divided by 3, and you get +3. 1/2 doesn't help much either.
>>
>>43620259
I still maintain that your Limit should be your Skill, and gear should just increase the limit.
>>
>>43620259
I don't know how that'd work out mechanically, but wouldn't that make strength and body be super important when you're firing a light pistol or holdout or whatever?
>>
How do Securetech PPP pieces from Run & Gun work? I guess that being unusable with full-body armor means any full-body armor, not just the item from the core book, but the Vitals Kit also cannot be used with Armor Vest and Armor Jacket, which is oddly specific. What can it be used with?

Also, do those pieces have their own capacity, or do they take armor capacity when you put them on?
>>
>>43620259
Why the fuck would you even introduce your physical limit to Shooting?
Just because you are a fat fuck or a skinny dude doesn't make you better or worse at shooting single shots on a target. And for recoil, strenght is already factured in.
>>
>>43620259
Nah.

Even a wimpy person can, with a bit of training with the gun, line up a single shot and shoot straight.

Strong Mc.Huge will only have an advantage when it comes to keeping the gun on target with fast follow-up shots/burst fire (and FA), not for a single shot.
>>
>>43620340
No hard rules on the former, just use common sense.
Since the Vitals Kit is useless in combination with Armor Vest and Jacket, the same should probably apply for every heavy chest protection.

Regarding the latter, they don't take up any capacity, they are extra pieces of Armor, like Forearmguards or a Helmet.
>>
>>43620365
Oh, that makes sense. I just realized that armor jacket is not the piece of armored business clothes.
>>
>>43620340
You see R&G? It has two broad categories "Armored Clothing" and "Specialty Armor"?

The easiest ruling is that it only can be combined with items from the "Armored Clothing" category.
>>
>>43620186
Wouldn't improved accuracy help with the dice pools?
>>
>>43620317
Well, it was just the quick and easy fix. I wouldn't mind rolling out a new table of adjusted Accuracy stats. Hell, I could just do it by weapon class.

>>43620332
>>43620343
>>43620347
STR is a dumpstat as it is, pardon me for wanting to improve on it.
>>
>>43620393
No, it improves your Limit, not your dice pool.
>>
>>43620415

Every archetype has their own dump stats. But, strength isn't one of them, else they'll have dice pool penalties after the first shot
>>
>>43620393
Nope, Accuracy only affects the number of 5&6 you can count, not how many you'll throw.
Since you already need more than 21 Dice to reliably run into 7 Accuracy, 9 is realy a waste of PP.
You can always get that one later if you have higher Dicepools after a few runs.

>>43620415
Strenght already covers Recoil and Close Combat.
Try moving Gymnastics from AGI+Skill to [AGi+STR]/2+Skill
>>
>>43620446
Meh... Depends on what type of gun you use exactly, but it's not that hard to get a decent RC from gun mods alone.
>>
Hey guys, is it just me, or are voodoo and the Jewish tradition (cabbal?) The weakest of the traditions?
>>
>>43620628
>he doesn't know about Possession
>>
>>43620647

I know about possession. But it's kinda like... you will only ever really get 1/2 the force of the spirit when possessing things
>>
>>43620654

Follow up: it also makes summoning anything past force 8 seem redundant because you'll venerable be able to augment your stats higher than 4 anyways.
>>
>>43620672
You can always use a higher level spirit to blast any dual-natured critter/projecting mage from the Astral. (And other non-physical tasks.)

Yeah, they can't materialize on their own, but that doesn't mean the spirit is useless.
>>
>>43620909

I get that, and sure, they're equivalent to others. For simplicity, I'll be talking about Voodoo, because I recently made one.

They're a tradition that focuses on charisma, leading them to be a summoner focus, or at least be able to be a summon focus more than others.

But, while any other charisma base can spam spirits as necessary, with voodoo you cant. You have yourself, and even then you're left with vulnerable because you don't gain immunity when a spirit is possessing you
>>
>>43620948

They're equivalent to others in Astral combat*
>>
>>43620948
Don't inanimate vessels alleviate that somewhat?
>>
>>43620948

Golems and Zombies are your friends there.

Shove some spirits in corpses and prepared golems and you're golden.
>>
>>43620963

They need to be prepared, and preparing inanimate vessels is an advanced school of magic (meaning you have to initiate), and even then, the actual preparation is artificing (or alchemical, I can't remember which. Just that it's in the Enchanting skill group).
>>
>>43620968

Putting them in a dead body requires Necromancy, and golems... possession specifically states they can only move things designed to move. A shaped rock that looks like a person or Animal is just that: a rock. No moving parts.
>>
>>43620979

No they don't *need* to be prepared, it gives the Spirit a huge bonus on the possession attempt.

If you want the spirit to inhabit a vessel (i.e. make the possesion permanent), then you absolutely need a prepared vessel. But in a pinch, any dead body or articulated doll will do.
>>
>>43621017

My DM said they required Prep. Give me a bit to ask him about it, maybe it was a misunderstanding
>>
>>43620995

Well, yes. A good golem has joints. It's not just a statue. More like a heavy, scary marionette.
>>
>>43620672

Higher force spirits have a better chance of possessing their target. Especially useful if that target is, say, your opponent bor your opponents full body armor. Or a random suit of empty heavy mil spec you are using as a golem think outside the box, anon.
>>
>>43621030
He is mixing up "Inhabitation" with "Possession".

Check Street Grimoire pg. 197. If the vessel is prepared, the spirit gets a +6 dice bonus on its possession attempt. But it can try to possess anything.
>>
Alright just got a message from my GM. Apparently what it was, was he houseruled it that, manditory, it has to be a prepared vessel for a spirit to possess it. He said he felt it was way too cheap, as a force 4+ spirit could easily possess just about anyone out there not geared for fighting spirit possession. The exception would be my character who will always be a "prepared vessel" for my spirits.

How boned am i?
>>
>>43621141
Not terribly boned, you can still grab spirit buffs for yourself after you learn Channeling.
>>
>>43621210

Do I learn channeling first, or do I try to work on getting inanimate object preparation? And I'm still screwed with only being able to have one spirit active on the physical plane at a time (and uses my body, which is then, as a result, vulnerable to being shot, since I don't have immunity

Possessing yourself once you have channeling is still a pretty potent ability. I assume you are still a full caster as well and not an specter Mage, so it isn't like you'll be useless your first couple missions until you can initiate or anything.

Full mage. Street level. DM forced us to use Life Buy... wasn't too big a deal, I snagged 6 in Sorcery and Conjuration, but only 1 in enchanting, which sucks since it means I need to soak a large amount or karma into enchanting if I want to prepare my own vessels.

Do I need to pick one type of environment when using gear with Custom Protection, or can it work like armor mods, where you pick whatever you want?

It seems to be limited to one type the way it's worded, but EVA suits in the same book have this feature for 4 different environment factors at once.

How do you notice if a window or door is alarm wired? Perception test?
>>
>>43621751
Most likely. I think Hardware+Intuition or Locksmith+Intuition test should also work if you are looking for something specific, since that's how you discover sneaking targets in lieu of Perception in the core book.
>>
>>43621751
>>43621811
Actually, never mind, it's Perception:

>A wire is one of the most basic types of security scanners. Breaking the beam or wire is often tied to some sort of alarm system to notify security personnel, but can also trigger other kinds of automated security systems (see below). In some rare cases, the wire may have a more lethal purpose and is intended to harm the target. Stringing monowire across a potential intrusion point is a common choice for this purpose. If a character fails a Perception Test (p. 135) they will run into the wire and trigger its effect. This could be activating the alarm system, or taking damage. For wires intended to harm, use the damage listed in the Fencing Table (above).

/srg/, I think I need help.

My group's current Savage Worlds game has reached a conclusive point, so we're taking a little break, and I volunteered to run Shadowrun 4e. However, I've never GM'd anything before ever, so I'm kinda panicking.

Is there anything I NEED to make sure I have with me? I think the plan so far is just a one-session thing and I'm gonna be doing Food Fight, so I figure pre-gens would work better than running each player through character creation, but I often hear about how horrible the Shadowrun pre-gens are. Should I make up some new ones? And if so, should I give any character to them, or let the players make up fluff?

The 4e Starter Kit should have some pregen characters included. It's the sample characters in the corebook you want to stay away from.

Rolling up pregens yourself would be a great exercise in learning the system yourself, so I'd suggest that, since it's important for you as a GM to become familiar with all the potential your players should and will have, and also guiding them towards it. This includes both mechanics and story; consider giving your players a few options in either vein to help them understand what's expected of them. If your Savage Worlds group was mostly high-fantasy murderhobos, you might have a bad time adjusting to SR's intended atmosphere.

/srg/ is here if you need anything.

The stay at home decker was a problem from the get go which 4e did more to fix than 5th ever did by actually making it so decking wasn't a so retardedly expensive investment that you couldn't do other shit.

Being able to cross-specialize is a good thing but for some reason, it becomes a problem when it's about hackers, whose entry cost should be by far the lowest and the dependency on having the shiniest, most expensive Apple ideck doesn't even fit neuromancer despite the obsession the 2-3e devs had for early "has never seen a computer" Gibson.
>>
>>43622763
2/3e matrix or bust faggot
>>
>>43622794
Problem is 4e addressed remote decking by obliterating the archetype itself. No attribute dependencies, low Karma investment, and far fewer returns for deep Karma investment compared to other archetypes. It's still kind of an issue for 5e because it's even more nuyen-dependent than 4e, just has a nominally higher barrier of entry.
>>
>>43622794
>the dependency on having the shiniest, most expensive Apple ideck doesn't even fit neuromancer despite the obsession the 2-3e devs had for early "has never seen a computer" Gibson.

You do realise that the developers now have nothing to do with guys who developed 2/3e, right? 15 years and at least 1 studio removed means very different sensibilities.
>>
>>43622863
If you want to be wholly dependent on agents and your tools and have no way out when things go to shit, sure.

I honestly don't see the problem, 4e script kiddies can't do shit against a proper hacker.

The stay at home hacker didn't exist in 4th either and the idea that 5th did anything about fixing it is literally a fantasy by people who didn't read the chapter on wireless in 4th or were too hopelessly groggy to play a system that actually fixed a lot of 3e's worst design decisions.

Besides being that one metatype of human with four arms, is there any way to get more arms? You can't just get additional cyberarms, right?
>>

I think multiple arms is a metagenic quality, so you can get that. You'd need to use SURGE rules if it's a positive quality, though.
>>
Question, specifically for 4e, but I don't think edition matters.

Say I have a character with all attributes at 3. I take a customized cyberarm where my character's dominant arm is, customized for agility at rating 5.

As it's only one arm, my agility will still average to 3. Would I then be using agility 3 for shooting, or would I use agility 5, as the dominant arm has a rating of 5?

I find it all a bit confusing.
>>
>>43624296

5 agility when shooting with a gun thats purely using that arm.

4 when two handing, since thats the average between the two arms.

Okay, cool, thank you.

If I make up some pre-gens, should I use BP, or Karma? And how much of either, to balance it with Food Fight (or is the default okay?)
>>
>>43624699
I suggest Karma since it's the gameplay standard and uses the in-game progression system, so that will help you familiarize yourself with the scaling of the game. Read Runner's Companion for Karmagen rules, and use a "street level" Karmagen of 500 Karma or so. Use only corebook features for your pregen characters.
>>
I'm a bit confused on how cyber limbs work in 5th, they start at 3 agility and strength and you have to pay to customize it up to your racial maximum, and then you can enhance then above it?
>>
>>43624865
Yes, anything past your racial maximum also costs capacity
>>
>>43624865
That's pretty much it. Enhancements go up to +3, customization up to whatever your racial max is.
>>
>>43624765
Okay, a lot of people do seem to prefer karmagen in general from what I read.

Thank you.
>>
>>43624888
So if you were say, a human, you could have a cyberlimb with 12 in its stats?
>>
>>43625035
No, cyberlimbs go up only to your augmented maximum.
So your cyberlimb would start with STR 3, then you customize it up to 6, and enhance it for an additional +3 for a total of STR 9 in your cyberlimb.
>>
>>43625035
Racial max for human is 6, 6+3 is 9
>>
>>43625073
Olay I read that wrong, I thought you meant that customization went up to your cybernetic max, and you go beyond that with enhancement
>>
>>43625108
The augmentation limit for any given stat is its racial maximum +4. However, you can't use a limb customized beyond your racial maximum and your limb can't exceed +3 in enhancements, so you'd have to get the last point elsewhere.
>>
>>43625139
You sure? Every edition I've seen has the max at racial max +3
>>
>>43624886
Ahh, so customization doesn't cost capacity, but enchantments do. What about availability? It's just the cyberlimb + 1 per point of attribute or just the cyberlimb +1 by itself?
>>
>>43625230
Pretty sure it's +4, at least in 5e. ...And there we go, found it:

>First, when purchasing augmentations such as cyberware and bioware, each attribute rating (Mental and Physical) can only receive an augmentation bonus of up to +4. If the attribute being raised has not reached its natural maximum limit, the attribute can be raised naturally with Karma; but at no point can augmentations exceed the +4 bonus cap.

>>43625242
It's +1 per point.
>>
>>43625278
Oh, 5E is weird and dumb. They limit you to one attack per turn, and now +4? That's just funky
>>
>>43625325
You know that there is a multiple attacks free action right?
>>
>>43625344
Then why is there an optional rule in Run and Gun that allows you to make more than one attack action per round? That obviously means by default you can't.
>>
>>43625278
>First, when purchasing augmentations such as cyberware and bioware, each attribute rating (Mental and Physical) can only receive an augmentation bonus of up to +4. If the attribute being raised has not reached its natural maximum limit, the attribute can be raised naturally with Karma; but at no point can augmentations exceed the +4 bonus cap.

So, let's say I have 1 Str and 1 Agi. Does that mean I can't even use a cyberlimb customized to 6 Str / 6 Agi? Or does that limb get to ignore that rule, and can be freely increased to 9 Str and 9 Agi?

>>43625577

>>43625544
Not to sound like an ass, but you haven't been great at communicating what exactly you've meant. I was originally referring to the fact that you can't do two shots in semi-automatic anymore (Unlike every other edition), and then apparently it went from using one weapon to two?

>>43625582
And if that's the case, why did they even mention it in Run and Gun as an optional rule? Or was that just because they made firing two shots its own action instead of the original "You can just fire a shot twice, each one being a simple action." That seems like an unnecessary addition.
>>
>>43625512
>Okay, so, apparently I don't have the dexterity or reflexes to shoot the same dude twice
Extra squeezes on the trigger are abrstracted as defence penalties. Burst gives -3, Full Auto gives -9, etc.
>>
>>43625630
No, because bursting and going full auto is holding down the trigger. I'm talking semi-automatic hammering my finger on the trigger.
>>
>>43625656
What is Semi-Auto Burst.
>>
>>43625673
But why oh why is that its own action when the other editions just had the simple "You aren't limited to one attack per turn." It seems like an unnecessary rule and an unnecessary addition, when it makes nil difference from the original and is just another special thing to memorize?
>>
>>43625673
No such thing as a halfway-burst.
>>
>>43625706
It's a balancing concern. It's not too hard to understand, allowing someone to attack the same guy twice makes ranged weapons way too good.
>>
>>43625706
>The idea of keeping the attacks to one Simple Action per Action Phase was based on keeping the action spread out across all the players and keeping combat moving. If a gamemaster wants to increase the number of shots a character can take on their turn, and thus the number of rolls and amount of table time they get to use, this rule option can be used to ignore the “One Attack action per Action Phase” attached to most ranged attack tests. This optional rule eliminates the limitations on the Simple Actions that can be taken. It’s highly recommended that if this option is taken, Cumulative Recoil should be given extra attention, as the modifiers will add up fast and act as a balance to nonstop shooting. This rule has no effect on melee combat, as melee attacks require Complex Actions.
>>
>>43625753
Well, considering melee weapons are really more of a specialist weapon than your run of the mill handgun, that would make sense. There's a reason why 9 times out of 10 people would pick up a handgun for a fight as opposed to a Katana. It's just how it is (And as someone who loves their Shadowrun Katanas, I'm more than fine with leaving it as a specialist weapon.)
>>
>>43625817
Fine and dandy for real life, but in a game there's no reason to make similar options outright worse than one another appeasing someone's autism doesn't count. The problem already exists with Holdouts and Assault Cannons being useless, I'd rather not add more and more weapons to that list.
>>
>>43625873
Holdouts are great for when you want to conceal a weapon.

Assault Cannons are... Well, they're heavy 12-20mm cannons, no idea how they're bad (Except maybe that you can't carry the things around in public without having C-SWAT on you)
>>
>>43625909
>Holdouts are great for when you want to conceal a weapon.
Small pistols do their job better than they do.

>Assault Cannons are... Well, they're heavy 12-20mm cannons, no idea how they're bad
Assault Rifles get very close to their base damage, but they have FA to make up for it, the ability to use specialized ammo, and some of them are even Restricted, not Forbidden. Taking an Assault Cannon is a fluff choice, sadly.
>>
>>43625965
So a 5.56mm Rifle nears the damage of a 20mm Cannon? Oh shit Shadowrun what are you doing. Assault cannons should blow people away, send bits of them everywhere. I'm only really familiar with assault cannons from the old edition where they had damage codes like 18D (Target number 18 to soak, Deadly damage (Which was more or less an instant kill))

And why do small pistols do the job better?
>>
>>43626019
>Assault cannons should blow people away, send bits of them everywhere.
To be honest they do have very high damage, but shooting an assault cannon with 18P with 12 dice against 9 dice(5REA+3INT) vs shooting an assault rifle with 13P with 12 against 0 dice (5REA+3INT-9 from FA), you can quickly see why one would out-do the other.
>>

>>43626077

Hard Targets.

>>43626102
>Doesn't full auto give recoil penalties anymore?
Yes it does. Of course you want to stack some Recoil Comp before you go around shooting full-retard-like into a crowd, but the benefits usually outweigh the costs so it's very worth it.
>>
>>43625965
I can still see a good reason for some of the holdouts. The Tiffanis and the Elan are fashionable, the Streetline is stealth (although an Ares Light Fire is too, I think).

I tend to be a bit on the infiltrator side, though, so I tend to have a list that's almost every legal handgun in the game just in case I have a disguise for one that fits better.
>>
>>43626128
Thanks chummer
>>
>>43626128
Well, Assault Cannons do still seem somewhat useful for taking down large targets from long ranges (What they are intended for, afterall.) They seem like they are very much a specialist weapon, so, I guess that's the choice you make? It's in the same tier as grenade launchers, MGs, and Melee
>>
Since Chrome Flesh says that cyber genitalia might well be considered a cyberlimb, does it mean you get another condition box if you install it?
>>
>>43626212
Melee is somewhat better nowadays. The damage code change helps, you don't split your speed across passes anymore, skimmers and skates can have you easily slide into melee range, etc. You don't feel as bad for playing melee as you used to.

Read the whole question man. Did they get it by buying it, or by seizing it? I doubt renraku would be willing to let go of a multi-billion dollar property like that without a fight.
>>

Renraku already lost it to an entity that threatened the world as a whole. They could not hold their own souvereign territory, which was grounds for an intervention of a larger military force. Renraku may have poured billions into the arcology, but they do not need, or want, the negative publicity of clinging to the arcology of robot doom and reminding everyone it was their mess. The UCAS taking control of it solves that dilemma nicely and allows them to foster a better relationship with the country and get extraterritorial zones in more profitable areas.

So what is the ucas doing with all the tech, r&d, and crazy data they left inside?

Infusing resonance into people using cybermancy, or something else like that.

Hey, /srg/, Thought Experiment: What news clips would you use to open the Shadowrun TV show?

I've been turning over a script, and I'm having trouble thinking of the snippets you'd need to introduce the average viewer to the world, the compressed info you'd fit into the first 100 seconds via cuts of reporters talking about events to give them the basic primer.

I figure you'd start with the Shiawase and Seretech divisions, compressed into a blurb about how corporations can now be their own countries with their own armies and laws; then something on UGE, then the Awakening (complete with a flash of Big D saying, "Magic has come back to the world"), a couple shots of mages, the signing of the Treaty of Denver (with reference to the Great Ghost Dance), cyberlimbs (through that violinist), goblinization, and then...

I don't know what's next. They can't put too much in there, and there is stuff that would be better left to be unpacked through exposition in later episodes (like SURGE and the general global situation), but I can't help but feel that it leaves out too many years.

What other stories are important enough, and can be compressed enough, to make it into the opening scene of the Shadowrun show?

Hrm. Give the nightly build a crack. https://github.com/chummer5a/chummer5a/releases/tag/Nightly-v1.0.540

Just for the cyberpunk vibe, include scenes from riots, clips from war correspondents in exotic war locations (Corporate war, maybe?), various televised terrorist acts, some Unsolved Mystery type things about corporate espionage, etc.
>>
>>43632272
Good point. Sprinkle in a bit of Bogata and Berlin to get the heart racing.

I didn't say in >>43632222, but the last clip would obviously be the longest, from Sixth World Dateline about shadowrunners. "Who are these men and women who go out and commit such acts? Murder, corporate espionage, extractions, even bodyguard duties... Nothing is beyond these highly skilled mercenaries of the streets, who will work for anyone from a AAA corporation to your neighbour, so long as they have the money..."

EXT. SEATTLE IN THE RAIN. ARCOLOGY VISIBLE IN THE BACKGROUND

I'd watch it.

To elaborate on the corporate espionage thing, perhaps some amateur footage of corporates doing back deals? Reports of a corp releasing a designer plague in to the public?

Maybe some stuff on the rise of violent crime. Security cam footage of gang shootouts, robberies, etc.

Also, a cool thing would be to show the world getting progressively worse. You start from some happy stuff in the early 2000s and things start going down hill. It starts with "Cyberlimbs help amputees walk!" and "______ develops bio-interface chipping!" and maybe a bit of "Cold war over, the world can rest easy!" From there you show the decline of society, ending with a near constant stream of murder, riot, espionage, corruption, etc, reports.
>>
>>43632457
I don't want to overplay it too much on the happiness, though; it would include stuff like the violinist and her arm, and then a bit later you'd see someone with a cyberlimb ripping apart an opponent, but keeping it a bit subtle. The normalization of amazing technology into the mediocrity and filth of humanity would be implied, rather than stated clearly. We've only got a couple minutes, after all.
>>
>>43632222
You could have a snippet about vampires and HMHVV. Roaming packs of ghouls, amateur footage of someone getting essence drained in an alley, etc. Throw in a Chicago reference while you're at it, too.
>>
>>43632499
Maybe don't overplay the happiness, but I do think the descent of humanity would be a good thing to show. Maybe start it with slightly positive stuff, then go to more neutral and questioning things (Rumours of Cyberpsychosis, Possible unrest, whatever), then straight up hell on earth maybe?

Eh, I'm just shooting ideas out here.
>>
>>43632628
Cyberpsychosis is a good idea.

>>43632597
I thought about HMHVV, but that's more corner-case enough (people understand the concept of vampires, for example) that I don't know if it deserves front-loading. There would definitely be an episode where the main characters fight ghouls and learn that some of them are OK, but the issue of HMHVV can be safely put off until then, I think.

I like the Chicago idea, though. Instead, why not Boston, as that quarantine is still going on? The Sears Tower going down would make a great image for talking about the reaction to goblinization, but the bug spirits are again something that deserve room to breathe.
