Resources:

OCTGN (for playing and building decks):

http://www.octgn.net/Home/GetOctgn
https://boardgamegeek.com/wiki/page/OCTGN
http://octgngames.com/installing-games/

Installation process is explained in the third link. There are two feeds for Duel Masters, TCG and OCG. We're starting by playing TCG but will likely move up to OCG once more anons participate.

I rate it terrible. Lack of speed attacker kills it.
>>
If a 6 mana creature doesn't do anything the turn it hits the board then it's garbage.
>>
>>43595123

What about the many support cards for armored dragons? You could conceivably cast it for 3 to 4 mana and any support cards that perish along the way strengthen the overall power rating.
>>

Most dedicated Dragon support in the TCG/early OCG is junk-tier.

I don't understand why you just wouldn't hold off on 1 mana and just play Boltemeus Steel Dragon, Galklife Dragon or Velyrika Dragon instead. If you HAVE to use a 6-drop Dragon then Magmadragon Jalgazor is probably a much better option.

Pic related is a good game but there is a serious problem. Let's look at the final AI decks in the order they appear in the menus:

>Blue/Red Astral Reef deck
>Mono White
>Mono Black
>Blue/Green/White
>Blue/White Astral Reef deck
>Mono Red
>White/Red
>Blue/Red/Green Mana Destruction
>Blue/Red Astral Reef deck
>Mono Green
>Green/Blue/White/Black Innocent Hunter deck
>Blue/White Astral Reef deck
>Blue/Green/White Astral Reef deck
>Blue/Black Astral Reef deck
>Green/Black/Blue

So 6/15 decks are all based on the same fucking card and the only way to beat one of those Astral Reef decks is to use Astral Reef yourself.

>>43597053
That's because Astral Reef is broken. It's a good job it's not in the TCG then, isn't it? Not to mention, if we ever do eventually switch to the OCG, which given how dead these threads are is doubtful, we'll either use the official banlist or make our own. Either way, Astraf Reef bullshit won't run rampant.
>>
>>43597901

Astral Reef IS in the ocg, but the number of available cards probably lessen its impact

I've actually seen a lot of people playing the OCG on OCTGN, though I don't think many of them were fa/tg/uys.

The TCG isn't the same thing as the OCG. Astral Reef isn't in the TCG because it was never translated into English, so you don't have to worry there since we only use the TCG right now. Astral Reef is in the OCG as well, yes, but it's banned, so you won't see it there either. Either way, you're safe from Reef bullshit.

Now let's try to drum up some activity in this dead thread, shall we?

Guess not.

>pay 2, draw 3
What drugs were they on when they made that?
>>
>>43609207
None. It's just because it was created in the early game when card draw was severely underestimated in its usefulness, much like early Magic (where you had bonkers shit like Ancestral Recall, Timetwister or Braingeyser). Now it could be argued that, since WotC designed the game and had the experience of Magic in their belt they should have known better but there are really 2 points against that school of thought.

1) Given that you actually use up your hand a lot more, aggressive card draw wasn't likely seen as a problem, but rather necessary.
2) Evolution creatures were a whole new way of looking at the game. Evolution is the very first mechanic that pushed Duel Masters into its own territory and not simply "weeaboo Magic-lite", so they didn't quite know how to cost them either.

All of this added up to brokenness as inexperience with card game design usually does. Luckily, as has been said quite a few times now, they came to their senses and banned the fuck out of it for a little bit. It's now back (and has been for a while now) but it's still restricted to 1. The fact that it's restricted alongside Aqua Hulcus, the fact that Liquid People just aren't really that good any more AND that decks are now not only faster than before but much better equipped means that, while still powerful, it's not as utterly dominant as it used to be.

Reef still gives you a +1 at the end since it's the thing you evolved+Reef, it's absurdly cheap too, should have been like 3~4 mana to be balanced. Wish they still made DM games, the PS2 and GBA ones were pretty fun.
>>
>>43609472
Then whatever you do, do not look up Astral Super Reef. Or Paradise Aroma. Consider this a warning.
>>
>>43609740
With Astral Super Reef you can lay down 4 Paradise Aromas and draw 12 cards for free???
>>
>>43609844
Well, no. Paradise Aroma only has Gravity Zero if you have a Cyber LORD, not a Cyber Virus. However, if you already have one and Super Reef, then yes. Alternatively, it can be used as super-easy evo fodder to go into Super Reef.

Although, pair those cards, some cheap-ass Cyber Lords and this motherfucker and enjoy having your whole deck in your hand.

Jeez, man. If you're going to imagebump, at least imagebump with competitive cards.
