Err, wave 8 I mean.

Rumour has it that the non-TFA Wave 8 ships weren't past licensor approval for some reason, which is why we haven't seen any painted models as late as, I think mid-September? They're

The T-70, TIE/fuckoff, and Gozanti have been on the boat for a while, though. Should be here end of the year, and it wouldn't surprise me if we get the rest of Wave 8 before February.

FFG's games get plenty of discussion here. d6 and Saga less so, but they've got their share of players, too.
>>
Also, I'm starting to get into the X-wing miniatures. I got the core set [non-TFA, I heard it's not as good, but I like familiar faces], and haven't played a match yet, still learning the rules.

Is it better to focus on perfecting a single faction, or just kinda expand evenly? What are the pros to each faction, and cons of course. Is it gonna end up costing a fortune to get well placed in tournament environments?
>>
>>43567340
>Is it better to focus on perfecting a single faction, or just kinda expand evenly?
Buy based on the ships you like. After a while you might want specific expansion for specific cards, but really anything is flyable with the right upgrades. Game are usually played at 100pts, so you'll probably want at least that much of a faction at a time.

>What are the pros to each faction, and cons of course.
Rebs: lots of shields, very good faction-specific crew. Tend to have more synergistic abilities, plus more regen options than any other faction. Downside is they're not necessarily that maneuverable, and they have comparatively low evade values.

Imps: Generally high evade values, nastier abilities, VERY maneuverable. Trade that for generally less shields/hull, so you have to be a better pilot to do well with them in general.

Scum: kind of a midline in terms of toughness and maneuverability, have a lot of wierd abilities and beneficial anti-synergies. Cons are minimal defensive crew, and they were added late so they're still catching up on ships and don't have as many shoices.

>Is it gonna end up costing a fortune to get well placed in tournament environments?
Not really. The winning list from Worlds this year was under $200 I believe.

Flying skill differential will almost always trump list selection, so while there's a few build options that can get expensive it's generally not the case.

>I got the core set [non-TFA
The TFA core set comes with an updated (see: more punishing) damage deck, which you'll need if you plan to play competitively.

>Is it better to focus on perfecting a single faction, or just kinda expand evenly?
I would say play a couple games with any of them (most players are nice enough to lend models to a newbie in a casual game) and decide the playstyle you like the most.

>What are the pros to each faction, and cons of course.
All factions are variable, but in general Rebels are expensive with high hull/shield, Empire are fast and fragile, and Scum do tricky shit.

>Is it gonna end up costing a fortune to get well placed in tournament environments?
Not at all! Upgrade cards aside, most tournament lists only run 2-3 ships. Cards you need to play competitively can usually be traded or borrowed once you make friends in your local playgroup.
For example, 2 IG-2000s is a common tournament list, but to make the most of them you'll need Autothrusters and Heavy Laser Cannon cards.
>>
>>43567597
>which you'll need if you plan to play competitively.
They retracted that, although we'll see how it is for major venues going forward.
>>
>>43567556
Any recommended sites for getting the ships?
>>
>>43567702
Depends on where you live/how shitty the exchange rate is.

Miniature Market or Bookdepository are my go-to sources
>>
>>43567340
As others have mentioned, just buy and run what you like. And get the Rebel/Imperial aces packs, if you like those ships (as well as the blister itself). That will get you all the pilots and specific upgrade cards for those ones. For example, the B-Wing blister has Fire Control System, and Ten Numb. But the Aces pack has Keyan Farlander, and the E2 modification (crew slot).

Miranda Doni (35)

The other option would be to drop Miranda and an upgrade for the Warden and squeeze in 3 naked B-Wings. Her shield regen is pretty dope though.

$US

I seen the First core set for about $27 on amazon, I was thinking of getting one just for the extra ships and dice
>>
>>43566947
What're you flying X-Wingers?
I picked up the Imperial Raider for $53, so I've been using Vader a lot. Here in the next week I'll be trying a Whisper, Soontir, Vader on Lambda build I'm kind of excited about.
Any tournament players want to give me advice on how to move my shit efficiently from table to table without breaking it all down? I'm trying to find some sort of tray with a decent sized lip on it, but all I can find is cookie sheets and WH40K display trays.
>>
>>43567597
As far as the -more punishing damage deck- is concerned, that is only true if you fly a lot of generic pilots, or ships without weapon upgrades. The new deck is friendlier if you fly mostly aces, or frequently turret/ordnance/cannons.

But either way, the difference is minimal. Crits suck, and WILL usually be bad, no matter which deck you use.
>>
>>43567828
Try MniatureMarket, then, they usually undercut Amazon slightly.
>>
>>43567828
I've gotten crazy deals on Massdrop and Miniature Market and Amazon all have decent prices. Support your LGS if you can, but this doesn't mean turn down insane deals.

Small PLANO boxes work great for tokens and cards and shit. Bigger ones work good for transporting ALL THE THINGS!

I've been trying to build a competitive scum list, and settled on a phat Guri loaded with 40-something points of shit. I also took a scapegoat Latts Razzi, and a cluster-missile stimmed PS 3 Z-95. In each game, the YV-666 got butchered quick, the Z did it's job, and Guri killed everything. But two games isn't a solid indicator, and I realized that Latts' handy ability isn't needed for Guri to shove an Advanced Proton Torp down an offending ship's throat...
>>

I realise that her ability feels like it's built for this, but it's really not that much better of a shot than the 4-dice primary.
>>
>>43568071
Yeah, I've got a plano angled tacklebox for everything that I take to league or friends' houses, you know, place I don't have to worry about it walking off. And I use one of the small side compartment boxes to hold my dice and tokens that i just pop into my tournament kit. My tournament kit is just a backpack with a plano box to move my ships, dials and templates to the place the tournament is, but I want a tray to move my stuff from table to table quickly during the tournament that also fits in my backpack and is ideally about the size of a medium plano box.

I ran a rad scum list kind of like that at league and did really well. It was
Guri - predator, autothrusters
Trandoshan Slaver - Greedo, Bossk, Gunner, anti-pursuit lasers
2x Black Sun Soldiers

Finally manipulating the Decimator the way I want to (won today with Daredevil Oicunn!). Trying to find the sweet spot for Han without making the rest of the list pure cheese. Want to just stick with Imperials but Poe is busted as fuck and the Outrider and Ghost look like too much fun.

My collection is still small, so I just use a $15 fishing box from Walmart. At the store I can easily transport it in the open position with my current fleet assembled.

Captain Jonus.
>>
>>43568896
I've got 12% here, LGS runs small ships at ~$18.

The problem is MM's shipping can be crazy. Take the Raider example, 40USD of that is purely shipping on a 60USD ship, and their smaller shipping is just as bad.

In contrast, Bookdepository runs free shipping on absolutely everything, so a Raider's only like 90CAD.

I was told I'm too autistic for the /co/ /swg/ so I came here.

I'm working on (don't expect it for a long time, but) a dynamic campaign generator for X-Wing (the sim game, not the tabletop) and TIE Fighter. And I was wondering if you guys have any insights as to what should go on outside of the missions.

Basic run-down (if anyone has played the old Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe this should be familiar)

>game is a big starmap
>planets hold bases, carriers can also be mobile bases
>bases hold a roster of pilots and an inventory of craft and munitions and supplies
>factories that generate craft and supplies, losing them makes bases restock slower
>randomly generated missions which gain/lose you bases, supplies, inventory, escorting supply convoys or attacking enemy convoys, capship strike missions, intercepting enemy fighters, interdictions, so on
>pilots gain experience and rank up (or die) from flying in missions
>campaign victory either by starving the opponent of resources or capturing all bases

Is there anything else more interesting I could add? Perhaps things I could adapt from the tabletop X-Wing? I haven't played it so I'm a bit of an outsider here. I like the concept of aces and having unique pilots with special abilities or so on could be something to work from.
>>
>>43569588

How are the other T-70 pilots? We don't see some of the new named ones, though. That makes sense because Disney is actually being really tight on spoilers and they have to be careful with them in their new product lines.

Rip off Wing Commander. Branching mission paths depending on which missions you fail, how many missions you fail, and off-mission decisions like whether to pursue a traitor at the cost of leaving your carrier undefended. Wingmen have unique flying styles, skill levels, and personalities.

Also, there's a co-op XWM campaign floating around called Heroes of the Aturi Cluster which has some RPG elements. XWM in general also has a lot of different ship upgrades, droid types, and ordnance which can be useful.
>>
>>43569792
What I meant was something more in the vein of IL-2 or Falcon 4 BMS's campaign modes, it's a totally dynamic generated campaign with generated scenarios, something like Wing Commander's would be handmade

It's just something to add replay value really, it's something most flight sim games have that X-Wing/TIE Fighter doesn't
>>

Every other T-70 pilot is comparatively trash, mostly because so far only Poe has both a pilot ability and an EPT slot. I'm sure they're still arguably playable (between the ship itself and an astromech), but the difference between Poe and the other pilots is a sheer cliff.

Imagine a TIE Advanced roster with Darth Vader, but without Juno Eclipse, Maarek Stele, Zertik Strom, Commander Alozen or Lieutenant Colzet. That's what it feels like choosing a T-70 pilot.

My problem is on the flip side, only one TIE/fo pilot with an ability misses out on an Elite, and that's because Epsilon Leader is still great without one. Is there any reason the generic-named pilots need to be trash?
>>
>>43569783
I hope Ello Asty makes it in from an expansion.
>>
>>43570007
He was even worse the next game when I basically beat 150 points with 100 points mostly due to dice rolls. The last straw was when Fel got two hits and two Crits on an unshielded Boba Fett and both the crits were Direct Hits.

I think he's meant to be the "Ace" for the expansion.

Either way we'll know in a couple weeks

>>
>>43570143
Two Epsilon Squadron Pilots are good enough to pull their weight in any list where you'd normally use two Academy Pilots. The problem with TIE/Fos vs. TIE/Lns is that replacing your /Lns with /Fos is a diminishing returns issue. Beyond taking two or three, you're not getting any more bang for your points than /Lns, while the extra shield /Fos have is only going to matter the TIEs that actually take damage.

So don't take more than two or three and you're fine. The rest of your list should be /Lns if you want to make a swarm list.
>>
>>43570126
Sure, there's definitely a balance, no argument there. I have no interest in picking up a K-Wing, regardless of how well TLT's are doing, for instance.
I don't think meta necessarily refers to top players either. Regardless of the quality of the players, a ~265 player tournament is going to shake out a decently accurate picture of what you'll run into at a given tournament.
But we're talking about T-65's, and 0 T-65's in the top 32 means something.
>>
>>43570347
Fluffwise, the T-70 was introduced to replace the aging T-65. Can you really blame the rules for mimicking the fluff?

Just bought an Aggressor and a HWK-209 on Saturday.

I am absolutely in love with Guri. She is so much damn fun, and her upgrade bar allows for some great times. Huge Kavil fan, too. Y-Wings are already tanky, and he is just a blast.

Buddy let me borrow a Firespray last week which I ran as Kath and she didn't really do much. Granted it was my first time with a large ship so she spent two turns just running into shit and not getting into good firing position.
>>
>>43570717
First time my buddy and I used Firesprays against each other this happened and both our firesprays died by crashing into asteroids in the same turn. Good times.
>>
>>43570503

Damn, classic X-Wings are some of my favorite. I do hope they don't outclass the good old classics. The new stuff is more expensive, though, but you can skimp on the options to get that much more out of it with a few strategic builds.

Might be okay if the older ships could stuff themselves full on upgrades and get more versatility in builds for it. Makes sense for older ships to be souped up to compete with newer craft.
>>
>>43570797
Yeah, they've printed fixes a couple times for ships that are falling behind. I'm sure they'll do it again.

It's nice but the T-65 could probably still do with upgrades to its maneuverability. Maybe via a card that fills in the usually worthless torp slot.

Yeah, that's hopefully a fix. The people that are better at theory than me seem to be split on whether it'll actually bring the T-65 up to speed.

BB-8 is pretty good.

IA actually makes X-wings tougher than B-Wings.

I run this list right now, and I am doing pretty well with it:

https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Scum%20and%20Villainy&d=v3!s!135:-1,-1,128:-1:-1:;101:-1,-1:16:15:U.43,U.-1;120:27,135,116,-1,118,-1:-1:-1:

I have 2 points to mess around with, but I usually put Vet instincts on Guri, and something like lightning reflexes or crackshot on Cobra Commander. I figured out how to fly Guri at PS 7, I am still having a bit of trouble with her at PS 5, though. I used her before to eat through 75 pts of TLT Gold squad Ys, though, having Cobra and Kavil both eat it by turn 3, and only taking 1 down.

I have great luck with Guri at PS5. She usually activates middle of the pack giving me time to assess the situation, and she's able to get around easily enough to keep out of most danger.

I also don't have Vet Instincts, yet, so I've never tried her at 7. I do usually slap her with Glitterstim, Hull Upgrade and calculation. Makes her pretty brutal, especially if she gets into range 1. That free focus with Calculation is good times.

The Assault Gunboat in the DOS game at least was like the Y-Wing (less ameuverable, but has good shields, 2 lasers and 2 ions), except it had missiles instead of torpedoes. So not much of a superheavy.
>>
>>43571300
She's normally my clean up crew, I outflank her behind Cobra, and people tend to freak out at Kavil with TLT, and Cobra in general, so they are the first targets. They tend to trade blows pretty well, and soften the enemy up, usually (and hopefully) leaving the last of their ships there for Guri to follow behind and take range one shots. She's won me a good few games, just scraping by, I'm not the best flyer yet, but I am getting there with her.
>>
>>43571324
Krassis Trelix+Laser Cannon comes out to 2.5 hits at range 2 or 3, no bonus evasion die for being at range 3, and a chance of crits at range 1. I've gotten good results using him to pick off TIEs and other light fighters.
>>
>>43571324
Don't have Lone Wolf yet, haven't tried pred on her. Used it on a Talonbane Cobra and that was a good time.

I just wish there was a place to get upgrade cards individually. There's some I really want, but have no need for the ships they come with.

>>
>>43571327
In the game it's slower than the Y-Wing but more maneuverable. In lore it was designed as a defensive craft, to defend against the quick rebel hit and fade strikes, so its niche is that its a slow cannon and missile wielder that is pretty good at dogfighting
>>
>>43571441
It's probably closer to the B-Wing than Y-Wing, just swap the torp slots for missiles and give it 4/4 hull/.
>>
>>43571467
How about a System Upgrade slot too? Phantom is the only small Imperial ship with that I think
>>
>>43571345
Played a game last week with Kavil and my opponent was so terrified of him that he gunned for him early, leaving Kath and two Headhunters virtually untouched to start ripping him apart. Kath didn't get to shoot until the last two turns basically, but Kavil and the Headhunters did quite a bit of damage to make up for her.

Don't have a TLT since I have no K-Wing(nor need one), but damn do I ever want one.
>>
>>43571498
TIE Advanced as well, I'd actually NOT give it a system slot, but Tech.

Can somebody explain to me how exactly Admiral Ozzel fucked up at Hoth?

He attempted to surprise the Rebels at which point they put up their shields, right? But if they -were- able to get their shields up so quick, wouldn't it have not mattered how they approached? Emerging from hyperspace -farther- from the planet surely wouldn't have helped.
>>
>>43571582
It's not really "usefulness" so much.

Okay, so there's Torpedo, Missile, Bomb, and Cannon slots. 4 different ways to add damage/damage effects to a ship.

EPT, crew, astromech all add "pilot" effects.

Modification adds ship effects, but goes on ANY ship in most cases, and has to be balanced for such.

Illicit only goes on Scum.

System is currently really the only slot for "ship" abilities (other than titles, which are far too specific and each ship usually only has one).

Tech is just a new way to balance ship effects when you don't want a ship to have access to the System upgrade abilities.
>>
>>43571618
From my understanding because he went in too early the fleet wasn't able to finish setting up a perimeter to catch escaping ships, and as a result most of the rebels escaped
>>
>>43571618
He lost a fight. That's failure. Sith don't tolerate that.

Hyperspace decanting detection.

If they'd dropped out farther, Hoth might not have picked up the energy flare, and they could have come in masked against the asteroid field on sublights, harder to detect.
>>
>>43571633

Shit, that makes sense. Especially seeing how easy some of those transports were able to escape a small fleet of SDs.

The way it's presented in the movie is a bit confusing as it implies it has something to do with the Rebel shield but that explanation makes sense.
>>
>>43571618
>>43571669

The idea was to creep up on them at a crawl. Busting into orbit right out of hyperspace sets off ALL the alarms.

But either way they're going to be detected and the Rebels are shown to be able to get their shields online almost immediately. Unless those hyperspace sensors can detect things before they happen they're giving a warning of a few seconds maximum. There's no way that gives the Rebels more time to prepare than if they detect the ships coming into to orbit in realspace.

Hyperspace detection systems have a limited range, and the rebels don't have enough to seed the whole region.

>Exit hyperdrive close to planet, get caught by sensors, get easily detected
>Exit hyperdrive far from planet, sensors don't detect, slowly approach under low power, locate shield generator by passive sensors and destroy it in first volley.

Because for a Scum HWK, Palob synergizes infuriatingly well with literally any ship that can take Opportunist! Even himself, if you give it to him and take an Autoblaster Turret or Blaster Turret. Palob is one of the best, most goddamned fucking hideous Scum pilots. And thankfully he dies quite easily.
>>
>>43572744
Current X-wing meta is pleasantly diverse, a far cry from the cookiecutter two ship builds of a while ago. Twin Laser Turrets are kind of the new hotness, but they're not unbeatable. Of the EP7 ships, Poe Dameron has been well received, but the others aren't nearly as common. Wave 8 is coming out sometime in the next 3 or 4 months probably, which will liven things up considerably.

Porkins is (IMO) best with the bot that repairs on a green roll. Burns an action, but lets you do hilarious shit like Stay on Target, for a damage roll instead of Stress.

Blue Ace + R7-T1 + Autothrusters

No idea what to spend my last 30 points on.

>>43570347

K-Wings are actually a lot of fun to fly.

But I respectfully disagree about Worlds. Just because the most WAAC of the WAACfags doesn't run them doesn't make them any less viable.

In fact with the rise of TLT Y's, I'd be putting Wedge comfortably in a lot of lists that fit him as he reliably goes like a hot knife through them.

The only reason Wes isn't seen anymore is he used to be a primary stressbot carrier, but there was a retarded ruling that you could make a 26 point Y-Wing that triggered the droid 3 times. Seriously, what the fuck.

Luke got superseded by Poe,as Poe does virtually the same thing but on both O and D.

Hobbie, as I replied above, is a great stressbot carrier if you just don't like Y-Wings.

And Tarn with a regular R7 is a great 25 point stopgap. In fact, I'm very surprised how we didn't see him considering he attacks before most TLTfags and can also re-roll his defence dice against them.

I'm not saying ALL T-65's are good. In fact, most are horrible. I mean, why but a rookie when for one point more you can get a B-Wing? But the ones I've listed are still viable *if* you build them properly and give them decent wingmen.

Alright, so I just finished KOTOR 2 and I think I'm going to cause a shitstorm with malice aforethought.

Here's my review; it was alright, I guess.
Atton actually grew on me as a character, so there's that. Canderous and HK were old returning favorites, but everyone else is only of interest to me in how they will augment my kill-machine character.
And speaking of kill-machine characters..... look, I get that everyone says this game is so groundbreaking for its take on the Force and commentary on rpg mechanics, but it's not. Not really. Off the top of my head, Morrowind has the same sort of commentary and in fact makes it a central tenant of the universe. There's even a character in the game who is aware that none of it is actually real along with the fact that technically there is no difference between him and anyone else because they're all part of the same program. There are probably more examples, but I can't be arsed to look them up.

Really, KOTOR 2 felt like a slog the whole way through. Quest objectives were rarely clear, suddenly getting Force visions of ambushes that I could often actually SEE with my own two eyes, the long and terrible slog that was the HK-50 facility, choppy AI, maze-like maps with far too many dead-ends that have absolutely no purpose (not even an aesthetic choice like a bathroom at the end of the hallway).
The times where big battles would require me to split the party and then let me play those encounters was fun.... when the AI would actually work. Nothing like a big battle where one party member just stands there and half the enemies don't respond for thirty seconds.

The twist that Kreia was a bad guy was actually really stupid given the sheer number of cutscenes where she does something creepy and I think the most interesting part of it was learning about why she did it, even as insane as it is.
>>
>>43573290

Proton Torps are for large ships I've already stripped shields on with Clusters, or for High Agility opponents.

I don't like Assault Missiles on Redline, as I'll probably kill something with clusters anyway, and he really needs help hitting AGI 3+ opponents.
>>
>>43573319
The bit with Atris was stupid (why the hell was she stockpiling Sith Holocrons oh my god what the fuck why even), the entire 'Find the Jedi Masters' plotline turned out to be, you guessed it, ENTIRELY POINTLESS.

Most of the game, more than half of the main plot, and it's an exercise in spinning my wheels when they are murdered the moment I gather them together. Nothing like spending a few days accomplishing nothing for that self-worth. Also, solo missions for party members can go suck eggs

Also, some of my party members felt highly unnecessary. I get that it has more variety than the first KOTOR, but do I really need two soldiers, Bao-Dur (who disappeared from the game at the end for.... some reason), the fucking not-Interrogation Droid, two Jedi, and two scoundrels?

But I did say that I thought the game was alright, so let's talk about the good:

I did kind of like the HK-factory setting in concept if not exactly execution. HK-47 is right; being a mindless murderbot is worthless. As unsavory as his purpose can be, it has a definite artistry to it unlike 'herpaderp weer gonna kill the galaxy and then moove on to the next'.

Since the level cap was higher than KOTOR, I got a real opportunity to become a true Force Wizard and by the end there was nothing aside from the final boss who could resist the Stun-Shock combo. And even then, I probably didn't min-max enough to get that option.

Canderous as Mandalore and his plan. I liked how he suggested that the Mandalorians don't have to be the knife at the Republic's throat, that they could work together. I also liked his 'gather the mandos' quest even if I wish there was more to it. Three guys on Nar Shaada? Are you kidding me?

Pulling one over on Czerka again. Rot in hell, you soulless corporate drones.

Using Atton's ability to punk out encounters that were too strong for me. Running far enough away to not be targetted and just let Atton live, die, and live again!
>>
>>43573319
>>43573365
(continued list of what did I like)
Coming to accept that the voice actors for this game have mostly taken Vicodin before their recording sessions.

Realizing that I don't need Bao-dur to punch through force fields when I can just stick a lightsaber through them.

Getting to pay back Kreia for putting the hurt on T3 for whatever batshit reason she did that for.

Using Speed. USE IT TILL YOU LOVE IT. Because not only are the maps maze-like, they are BIG and you'll need it to get anywhere at a decent pace.

Influencing the party, weirdly. After awhile, you don't even need to bother with appeasing them because apparently I've been brainwashing them because I'm a 'wound in the Force'. Didn't get Mira to be a Jedi, though.

That one Jedi Master with the earrings. Like yeah dude, you live that life, you do you.

That the creators of the Restored mod even made it. Buggy as it sometimes can be, it was interesting to see some of the concepts that were planned.

I do wish there'd been some sort of epilogue though, not just the Ebon Hawk flying off from the second destruction of Malachor V (which, given the damage that ship took, would probably be everyone suffocating).
Though I guess the developers wanted what just happened to linger.
That said, aside from this game and probably TOR, where does it ever say that Malachor V was blown up? In 1, Canderous talks about the battle of Malachor V but he also mentions that he and his bretheren were stripped of their armor, weapons, and droids on the surface of the planet. That implies that it DIDN'T get ripped apart by whatever the hell the mass-shadow doodad does. Hypergravity? Artificial black hole? God's own Anti-sonofabith Machine?

Whatever, like I said, the game's alright, but I don't personally think it's the greatest thing ever. It seems weird that Nihlus, Sion, and Kreia come out of nowhere when the Sith Academy on Korriban had, to quote Jolee, 'twelve, no thirteen' students on it.

This gorgeous thing was spotted in the cancelled Star Wars Level 1313 game trailer and I wonder if you elegan/tg/entlemen can identify it.

The difference is that the Imperials were detected *before* they were ready to engage. Think of it like DnD, as long as the Rogue stays in the shadows, he can take advantage of a surprise round, and his opponent remains flatfooted. But if he bumbles out into the light before the rest of his party is in position, everyone rolls initiative as normal.

>>43573700
your list is kind of all over the place. you have a beefed up Z, a regular Z, an arc dancing Viper, and a flying brick thats going to try and do some control and damage. id switch out the Zs for 2 stock pirates to get cheap blockers, then instead of the Thug, take the named PS 7 Y-wing dude with TLT and some EPT to help him lay damage on dodgy ships with like 4-5 dice, then maybe add more stuff to the Viper so it does its job better, or ditch it for a tank like the YV-666 or agressor
>>
>>43573319
Some of the art was just downright lazy. G0-T0 looks practically identical to the interrogation droids (as you noted), and the Mandalorian Basilisk looks the same as a StarViper. And the BBEG flagship is... a star destroyer. It's more than just design similarities, it's straight up copy-pasting stuff from the Rebellion era into the KOTOR era, especially considering how UNIQUE the art assets were in KOTOR 1. Everything looked suitably Star Wars, but *none* of it looked like anything we had seen before.

I'm pretty familiar with transport designs, and while I can't speak definitively, I'm pretty certain that's an original model that hasn't appeared elsewhere. It's likely been scrapped with the rest of 1313.
>>
On the RPG side of things, which of the statted ships do you like the most? I've loved the YT-2400 hundred ever since Shadows of the Empire. It's my go-to group transport when it comes to GMing.

So something like this.
Unnamed Squadron (100)

Kavil — Y-Wing 24
Marksmanship 3
Twin Laser Turret 6
Unhinged Astromech 1
Ship Total: 34

Guri — StarViper 30
Calculation 1
Advanced Sensors 3
Inertial Dampeners 1
Autothrusters 2
Virago 1
Ship Total: 38

Binayre Pirate — Z-95 Headhunter 12

I like sticking them with something a little more obscure, and letting them make it home. Part of the appeal to me, of the Falcon, Serenity, or those kinds of tramp freighters is the "You fly THAT thing?" impression. Not looking like much but having it where it counts kid.
So I avoid models like the YT-1300, 2400, the generic Ebon Hawk and the like. The final choice is usually made by looking at what's statted for the system, what has (not shitty) deckplans somewhere, and what's the right size for the party.

That being said, my favorite transport design in all of SW is probably the YU-410.
>>
>>43573903
What's so appealing about the ol' 410? Admittedly I've never given it a second glance.
>>
>>43573544
The one the characters are in looks sort of like a HCT-2001 Dragonboat, but for the 2nd, that's nothing I've seen before. About the closest I can think of is maybe something like the old SGS-45 Quarrel- so might be a Republic Sienar Systems era ship

the YG-4210 is a pretty solid hunk of junk that's been kicking around since before the clone wars.
>>
>>43573961
I don't know if I can justify it more objectively than simply "I like it" but I'll try

It's like a pit bull of light freighters. Compact, but built. Relatively sleek compared to other CEC freighters. Built for toughness rather than speed, but still definitely a freighter first rather than a military vessel and as such has plenty of cargo space and room for customization. It looks imposing without being threatening.

I think that about covers it. Incidentally, a lot of what I like about it are things I also like about the Ghost, which is a new favorite of mine.

2. Was there a separate archive of spaceship deck plans somewhere? I don't think it was specifically Star Wars, but I thought you guys might know.

So /tg/, I need some advice/guidance.

Anyone here have some experience and/or rules for managing a space station?

> It seems weird that Nihlus, Sion, and Kreia come out of nowhere when the Sith Academy on Korriban had, to quote Jolee, 'twelve, no thirteen' students on it.
Could be that the sith killed each other, Sith tend to do that a lot because they usually aren't big-picture thinkers. I mean shit, of the Triumvirate Sion isn't much of a big-picture guy either. He mostly just wants to make Kreia suffer and fail.

Different poster here... Don't worry too much about N'Dru and Lone Wolf. Thst's one of the most efficient 19pt ships you could ever hope for. When he's on his own, he's like an X-Wing with rerolls and 1pt of damage already. Give him Cluster Missiles, and he's throwing two volleys of 4 dice. Give him Glitterstim with Cluster Missiles, and hes the best damn 25pt battering ram you could hope for, and he's likely to kill a TLT Y-Wing on his own. He also makes an amazingly deceptive cleanup ship during end-game. I've had opponents think that "little Z" kicking around could be saved for last, only for him to decimate their last few ships.

He's worth using if you've got 19 pts to spare, and he's a contender for the 25pt slot. But if you're running a swarm or 5+ ships... Then you'll probably want something that doesn't mind being around his friends all the time.

Whisper, Vessery, and doomshuttle is my latest project. I've done some roaming on the kitchen table and I think the defender and phantom can really work well together. Doomshuttle because fuck the FAQ, all Fels and Jaxs must die.
>>
>>43569980
That's cool and all, but I really prefer to drop them on high agility/bullshit enemies. Watching them succumb to the will of my red dice with no tokens or poppa palpatine to protect them gets me rock fucking hard.
>>
>>43576148
Technically it's the will of THEIR red dice...

>>43576052
Vessery and Phantom aces do work pretty well together, so long as the phantom has a FCS. Vessery also works really well with Advanced Tie X1s that took the FCS or ATC, as well.
>>
>>43573207
Bomb loadout on the Thug is useless since you didn't give him any bombs.

I've not used any of the named Z-95 pilots for my scum, I usually just run my two as either Pirates or Black Sun Soldiers. Usually without upgrades, just good little harassing ships. Maybe in a bigger game, and when I have the upgrades, make them into little missile boats.
>>
>>43576298
Yeah, Whisper with FCS, VI, ACD, and I think IA because I had 2 points left and wanted a bid. I may drop IA if it doesn't excite me for crackshot on Vessery.
>>
>>43576375
bomb loadout is 0 points. So it's a funny thing just to have an extra card in there.
>>
>>43576424
That's 0 points you could spend elsewhere, anon!
>>
>>43576375
N'Dru is actually worth using... Unlike the Rebel Zs, where Cracken is wasted points and a temptation, and Blount exists to shutdown Stealth Devices, Scum Z aces are actuall pretty damn useful. N'Dru's awesome on his own, and doesn't take up much space in a list. While Kaato is probably the best candidate for Bodyguard you could ever hope for, and ties in nicely with Xizor and a pile of throw-away Zs.
>>
>>43576621
I've never done the Xizor + Z swarm thing. It doesn't sound like any fun to me.

I mostly haven't used them because at 100 points I would rather put those points into Guri, a Talonbane Cobra or Kavil(although now I have some more options with my recent purchase).
>>
>>43576704
It's okay, though I think Xizor with two TLT Ys and a Z could also be fun. Maybe swap a Y for a tactician HWK for control for a bizzarro scum Pheaver list.

>>43576794
I've yet to run Xizor, always been going with Guri. I also have no TLTs available to me.

I do look forward to doing a big 400 point team game with my buddies though. Each player gets 200 points, and I plan to run double Aggressors along with other goodies. Just need a second Aggressor now.
>>
>>43576704
Guri, if flown right, is a terror. But you have to be on the fucking ball with predicting your opponent and setting up your positioning when against higher PS aces. Advanced Sensors is the way to go for her, IMO.

Xizor is actually pretty fin, but he flies completely different. He's like a moustache-twirling Saturday morning cartoon villain, throwing his minions out to die in front if him. He works good with Lone Wolf, Sensor Jammer, Veteran Instincts, and Fire Control System. You can also sub in something beefier if a mini-swarm of Zs sounds dull. A YV-666 Slaver (or Latts), and/or TLT Y-Wings give him a nice HP pool to soak damage with.

>>43576794
Scum HWKs are pretty awesome. If you want cheap control, go Torkul Mux and drop their ace to PS 0. If you want to combo shit together, take Palob and put Opportunist on Guri, Kath, Xizor, Kavil (with something other than TLT), etc. Tacticians are a solid choice, but so is the K4 for free target locks.
>>
>>43576934
To elaborate, by the way... Before anyone goes "Lone Wolf on Xizor, what the fuck is wrong with you!?" Xizor with Lone Wolf is setting yourself up for a late game closer from hell. The kind that makes Luke with R2 look like a walk in the park. The idea, is Xizor (with Autothrusters for thise pesky TLTs), is constantly throwing damage down to the minions. By end game he should in theory be the last ship in your list to die. At which point you can go all "This wasn't even my final form!", and begin rerolling hits and evades like the bastard end-boss that he is.

This is what makes Xizor fun to fly, IMO. He works best when you look at him as a stereotype BBEG.
>>
>>43576996
yeah, Xizor with lone wolf is actually a staple. Most people don't even shoot at the clown prince of rape until his droogies are dead.
>>
>>43577048
And if you throw Sensor Jammer on him, he becomes a rape-train closer with no breaks. Even better, TLT Y-Wings fucking HATE ships with 3 evade dice, autothrusters, and sensor jammer.
>>
>>43576934
>Kavil (with something other than TLT)
Wait, what? Judging from the conversations I've been seeing you should only ever take TLT with anything because it's such a common card in so many expansions.
>>
>>43577133
If you're running Palob, and want to make the most of his ability, then Kavil shouldn't have TLTs with Opportunist. Although you can certainly run him without Opportunist and give him the TLT.

With Opportunist, and Palob, the better turret options are (surprisingly) Blaster and Autoblaster. Blaster requires the Focus to fire, but paired with an R4 Agromech you immediately get a target lock by doing so. Opportunist means you'll take a Stress token to get an extea die on anything Palob stole a token from, and Kavil gives you an extra die against anything outside his front arc. The result is a slow-rolling Y-Wing that focuses every round, spends the focus to fire the turret out of arc, gets a target lock, and throws 5 dice rerolled at whatever the fuck he hates, gets a stress, and then slow rolls forward again to repeat.

The second Palob build for Kavil, is Unhinged, Opportunist, Autoblaster Turret, and Engine Upgrade. Everything boils down to that delicious Range-1, and Uhinged gives you the greens to do it without worry for stress-shedding. Engine Upgrade gets you into that Range 1, and Opportunist + Kavil's ability means 4 red dice, unstoppable hits, and a focus or target lock on turns where you don't need to boost to get in range.

Either build is fucking hilarious to fly, especially when your opponent first sees it and is like "that's fucking disgusting!"
>>
>>43577423
It was more of a crack at the "only ever take this upgrade with this ship, otherwise you're playing the game wrong!" thing.
>>
>>43577475
Ah... Well... Muh bad. In any case, those two Kavil builds are my favorite, and are a lot more fun than Kavil + TLT.
>>
>>43577613
I've had fun with Kavil with Autoblaster Turret. Range one and he becomes a pain in everyone's ass. Throwing three dice in all directions, and being a Y-Wing he's a tank.

I want to run a Thug with Ion Turret, and Ion Torpedoes one day. All the Ion.

I HAVE A DREAM! That every person in this Republic will FULFILL THEIR DESTINY! A GALAXY OF THE TRULY FREE DAMNIT!

An Empire of passion, not serenity! Ruled by FEAR, not FAITH! Where the Will of the Force bends for the user, NOT the other way around! Where power and justice are back where they belong... IN THE HANDS OF THE VICTORIOUS!

Where every man is free to rage and hate for THEMSELVES!

Fuck all these Limp Dick Jedi and Chicken-Shit Senators! Fuck this 24/7 Holonet spew of Twi'lek and Corellian BULLSHIT! Fuck Republic Pride! Fuck the Mandalorians! FUCK ALL OF IT!

The Republic is diseased! There's no saving it. We need to pull it out by the roots! Wipe the slate clean! BURN IT DOWN! And from the ashes a new Empire will be born! Evolved and UNCHAINED!

The strongest will rule, and the weak... they will die. Free to live as I have forseen, we will make the Galaxy GREAT AGAIN!

Only now, at the end, do you understand. I'm using war with the Seperatists to get elected... so I can END war with the Seperatists! In my new Empire, people will die and kill for what they believe!

Not for credits! Not for Bacta! Not for what the Jedi tell them is right! Every man will be free to have UNLIMITED POWWEEEEERRR!

Try Panic Attack 2.0. Not what you would expect from a K-Wing, but it ended in the top 8 at Worlds nonetheless. High mobility if you SLAM properly and an unholy amount of control.

>>
>>43577728
For 32 pts you could run Ion Turret, Ion Torpedo, Extra Munitions (or Bomb Loadout + Ion Bomb), and R4 Aggromech. BTL-A is optional. Basically you focus, shoot the turret, hopefully the ion sticks, get a free target lock regardless, and the use the target lock and focus next turn to slam an ion torpedo in them, and Ioning everything. If you take the bomb instead of the Extra Munitions, you can drop an Ion Bomb when you reveal your maneuver, for extra swag.

32 is rather pricey, and this is a Y-Wing that WILL become the opponent's primary target. So pair it off with Torkul Mux, TLT, and Tactician.

>>
>>43578008
For 42pts, you could just use Extra Munitions. As retarded looking as the K-Wing can be, the Punisherest has it too.
>>
I just ran into a seemingly disgusting combination the other day in an escalation event.

2x Black Sun Ace
-Crack Shot
-Cluster Missiles
-Glitterstim

60 points, but I was running a Y-wing and a T-70 and it flat out erased the Y-wing and put a massive amount of hurt on the T-70.

I'm wondering if this would work at 100 pts with something else to fill the 40 point hull.

I'm toying with those two Kihraxz, then adding:
Transdoshan Slaver
-Bossk
-Gunner
-Tactician

Brings the point total to 98, leaving room for a inertial dampener or maneuvering fins or just going for the initiative bid.
>>
>>43578008
Why Kavil?
>>
>>43578166
Kavil with Ion Turret is a fairly reliable way of getting an Ion to stick while tolling 4 dice.
>>
>>43567059
>Tfw you see the BBEG's character sheet
>>
>>43578157
Speaking from experience, Bossk/Gunner isn't as solid as people think. A lot of the time, you end up putting up subpar hits. For my money, K4+Outlaw tech (with tactician) is typically superior to Bossk and Gunner. If it's worth doing, do it right the first time.

That being said, if you really like Tactician and Gunner then Bossk is a valid way to go.
>>
>>43579015
The plan with a slaver, Bossk, Gunner, and Tactician, is usually plan on missing your first volley, hit them with the stress, and then have Bossk and Gunner trigger the second. It also works well with Latts if you spend your action to target lock and then give it away to reduce the ship's agility before she attacks. Although Latts does usually want an weapons engineer instead.
>>
>>43579088
No, anon, I get it. The problem is that it's hard to force a miss. That's my point, you can plan to miss all day but the second that missing is advantageous is the second you can't rely on it.
>>
>>43579336
Indeed, which is something I realized when I built a Morello with HLC, Gunner, Bossk, and Tactician... He never missed. An unmodified 3-dice primary does however have a good chance of missing at range 2 or 3, against anything with a 3 evade.

But yeah, it's only really worth attempting on the slavers, because they're so cheap to begin with.
>>
>>43579336
There's a ton of Soontir's in my meta. So I can usually bank on missing 3 unmodified dice attacking them.

So then the end result is landing 2 stress on a (usually) Soontir with 1 stress already. Neuters their ace for a few turns.
>>
List Juggler is collecting the Worlds' lists. Interesting how Nathan, who lost to Paul in the final round, ended up in 10th place due to margin of victory.

http://lists.starwarsclubhouse.com/get_tourney_details?tourney_id=803
>>
>>43579429
Well, neuter's his action economy and stops his infernal turtling. It's easier to deal with Stealth Device and Autothrusters on Soontir once he no longer has a focus and/or evade.
>>
>>43579429
>There's a ton of Soontir's in my meta.
Soontir's what?

Chirpy + Whisper in 5th...

Does anything combo better with a Decimator than Howlrunner and Epsilon Leader? Forcing the opponent to pick off the escort ships or die even with the Decimator sitting pretty in Range 1 is glorious. At the end of my last game Howlrunner had taken 2 damage, Epsilon Leader had taken one, Cirno lost 3 shields and my opponent had 24 points of ships remaining.

To be fair, Howlrunner took 13 shots (6 with focus) at range 1 and lived. That helped a bit.

40 points for PS7, 4 Attack, 10 Hull, 6 Shield, 2 crew slots, a turret slot, a system upgrade slot and the ability to change your maneuver dial from any red to any other red, or any green to any other green. Its 4 Straight is green.

>>
>>43581215
I'm liking it, but it's feeling like the Rebel version of the Decimator to me. It can't dodge worth crap, and so C3P0 isn't going to help it worth shit unless at range 3, or through debris. Two crew slots means you can pair a recce spec with Jan Ors for an Evade and Focus, but you can't put PTL on it for 2 Evade tokens. Overall, I think the usual rebel defensive gimmicks aren't going to help it much. Unless it's crew cards have some hiddrn gems.

Still, it looks fun, and will have a fuck ton of firepower. The turret upgrade is practically unnecessary.

The Jumpmaster and Mist Runner are whar I'm most excited about. The Jump Master's fucked up dial looks fun, and Dengar's ability is beastly. And the G1-A Mist Runner is pretty much going to be the Scum B-Wing.

Only thing in Wave 8 I'm "meh" about, is the Inquisitor Tie Advanced Prototype.
