One day while you are sitting around fapping, the God Emperor himself bursts through your wall! Behind him are thousands of Space Marines and a fleet of immense power.

He tells you that you are his second son, and the second he has found. He has found you so that you may take control of the II Legion, and fight for him in the Great Crusade.

The II Legion is a bunch of generic failures at the moment, known officially as the "Generic Faggots." If you had not been discovered, they might have been wiped out or something equally bad.

He asks you what you call yourself, what you will rename your Legion to, and what you will have their specialty be.

So /tg/, what do you do with your own Space Marine Legion?
>>

The Marines Redundant. We may not have any specialties when it comes to specific forms of combat, but there will be such a vast number of us, that none can stand against us. My name is Trayzin The Singular
>>
The Other Guys.

We specialize in fortifying shit, garrisoning shit and protecting supply convoys.
>>
The Scions.
Only legion that managed to preserve ancient military tradition dating back to times before the Age of Strife. Basically the Reasonable Marines, but less "realistic", with heavy usage of firepower superiority, high-technology devices and all that.
And without that noblebright bullshit, well within Imperium mindset.
>>
>>43558397
So operating like a modern military, then?
>>
Another good question is,
Would you go Traitor, and if you did not would your Legion willingly break up into chapter, or would you pull a Dorn (Except go through with it).

I am Squeeps Genericus Fappicus, and the II Legion shall henceforth be known as... uh... the Betamarines!

Since they don't seem to already have a good track record genetically and militarily, their specialty should be getting things done in a suitably retarded/outlandish/"creative" fashion and failing that, we'll drown the enemy in ceramite-clad astartes-size bodies.

As for allegiances, they shall stay loyal. Probably out of peer-pressure because the Big E has some serious aesthetics. The Betamarines would object to the breakup of the legion into chapters; asthey're already incompetent enough as it is and a breakup would just be suffering. I suppose you would need to make the Codex Beta to keep these guys from crashing their battle-barges into each-other.

The last time we had something like this thread the Hektor Heresy was spawned.

Are you sure you wish the same repeatfaggotry to happen, again?

I will be Bahamut, the Strider. We will be the Mastodontii and we will specialise in mobile tank warfare and heavy scout support. Our tactical squads will deploy together with a razorback or a rhino, each, as if they were an inseparable crew. This will ensure that each squad has proper fire support in the field and sufficient options to retreat. Together with this, additional tanks will be fielded as heavy weapons platforms, allowing to crush enemy fortifications to mere rubble in mere moments. Scouts will deploy for Urban Warfare and sabotage of enemy anti-armour weapon systems, as well as pin-pointing weakspots in the enemy's defenses which we will assault with a stampede of steel, fueled by furious promethium and accompanied by the roaring of our engines.

All the primarchs knew that the key to making a successful legion was having a gimmick of some sort.

So with that in mind and without getting too outlandish I'd make a legion of Apothecaries or some shit. An entire legion devoted to medicine, defense, surgical precision, purity, and maybe virology.

They'd be among the genetically purest legions in the imperium, but a section of them would absolutely have to splinter off and become servants of Nurgle because it's just too obvious not to do it.

I'ld start by not wasting power armor no the new guys so the stupid remove themselves before I've put too much into training them then I would work on getting them ready to work as independent 10,000 strong chapters. I would have them form a web around the edge of the IoM that can bring in more fire power and body's as they are needed.
Finally I would got a "We are weapons of humanity" thing going so I can leave them to not screw up if left alown.

Still male marines I think, since the issue is that the way emps built the gene-seed makes it incompatible with women.

At most, futa-marines but even that is highly unlikely

Red Sappers

Former Diggas of the Orks, I call myself Warlord Ironspade and our specialty is salvage, constant fighting and a reverence for war. From our knowledges imparted from the Orks, our legion believes in quantity over quality. We work our machines hard and adorn our tanks in the color that suits the purpose of our mission.

Prefered Enemy is Orks and Angron's boyz, who is the most warlike of them all. No hard feelings with the Orks but that is just how it is.

TL;DR: Ork Marines.

I certainly hope that the Emperor understands allosomes because I'm not quite 'son' material.

Though it certainly goes a long way to explain why the Generic Faggots are such failures.

Assuming my geneseed allows recruitment of double x allosome individuals then I guess I'm taking the name 'Electrix Leta' and leading the 'Celestial Valkyries'.
If they must be male, my gender notwithstanding, then the Legion will be the 'Einherjar'.

Our speciality will be rapid strikes from flyers and hover bikes and tanks.
On foot, we mostly employ close quarter fighting, rarely utilising long ranged weapons.
Also, we employ Dreadnoughts in more then the usual numbers.

Finally, we tend to do a bit of battlefield scouring afterwards, not just to reclaim our fallen but also to find to corpses of the more heroic of our allies that may have fallen to be interred into the Hall of Memories.

Our Banner is a winged maiden holding a spear and shield standing with a foot on a skull.
A raven in flight above her.
Our symbol is the Valknut.

My name shall be Atum, and I shall lead the Onanist Legion to glory.
In remembrance of the circumstances in which the Emperor found me, all members of my Legion shall be equipped with Power Fists on their right hands. Their salute shall be two shakes with a closed fist at groin level, then flinging outwards with an open hand, known as the "yank yank toss".
My legion is dominated by Tactical marines, as they can use Power Fists far more effectively than Assault or Devastator marines. They are primarily close range fighters, but are also decent at ranged combat, using a weapon in their off-hand. Due to the massive demand for Power Fists placed on the Adeptus Mechanicus, they are reluctant to help us any more than they have to, and we are always under-equipped in other areas.
Their recreation time is mostly spent jerking off.
>>43558539
Oh, yeah. Soon as Horus kicks everything off we go straight to Slaanesh, every single one of us. Chaos Champions of the Onanist Legion are known as Seed Spillers, and delight in slaughtering Loyalist marines, and harvesting their Gene-Seeds for sacrifice.
Meanwhile I've ascended to Daemonhood, my right hand that once heralded the Emperor's coming transformed into a twisted fist of great and terrible corruption.
I spend all my time alone in my palace in the Eye of Terror, but at least I've got an excuse.

As heretical as it would be, I'd make use of the abhumans of the Imperium. Let's see their respective advantages. Squats are innovative scientists and hard working, we'd get a technological edge over our other Battle Brothers. The Ogryns are already very physically superior to the average man and would be even moreso with augmentations. Surely they'd all have their downsides like the Ogryns lack of intellect but that would be a top priority to modify. We could end up with the most diverse & multitasking Legion there.

A legion with out a name.

But our Legion operates outside the light of the Astronomicon, using an ancient Pharos to guide our fleet through the Halo stars and beyond in search of long lost technology and records from the First Human Empire, and anything that came before that.
Our search never ends, and we return to the Imperium once ever 1,000 years to offload our discoveries for research on Terra. No one sees us come or go, save the men and women of Terra who catalog our discoveries, and The Emperor him self.

Who we are does not matter, who leads us does not matter

all that matters is our discoveries.

First things first I'd fuck off to the Gothic sector trying to put as much space between my legion and the impending heresy and codex reforms as possible, setting up recruiting worlds along the way, as well as trying to buddy up to as many forge worlds as I could.
After I had a decent infrastructure and substantial fleet behind me I'd make war on the major ork empires that threatened to invade the Imperium.
For a battle plan, I'd set up a front line of Assault Terminators in fireproof armour and dreadnoughts, backed up by a phalanx of marines equipped with Storm Shields, flamers, and various close combat weapons. A few dozen yards behind them the bulk of my legion would be set up in a firing line, equipped with larger than standard caliber, semi-automatic bolt rifles so they can pick off high priority targets without hitting the front line troops. Annihilator pattern predators and marines equipped with missile launchers would be interspersed to take care of enemy armour. Back all that up with a few whirlwinds to break up the ork charge and I should be able to give my legion a high survivability rate. It should at least make the battle draw on long enough locate the warboss and send in a kill team with the best equipment that I could provide to kill it and break the waaagh.
I'd topple progressively larger empires until I had a legion of 30,000+ veterans and a few titan legions commissioned from forge worlds in exchange for captured territory. The endgame is to have a chapter that could be dispatched to halt the largest waaaghs or hive fleets.
As for my name, I'd ask the Emperor to keep me an unknown primarch and erase records of my legion. Hopefully it'll keep Guilliman from hassling me about his "great idea". As for the name of my legion, I'm going to keep calling them generic faggots/failures until they impress me. Fuck them, if they don't like it they shouldn't have been so pathetic

I, Primarch Estoc Von Perth, take the helm of the Gray Wardens Legion and specialize them for urban combat and boarding actions, the best dudes around for taking a hive basically. Lots of power armored infantry supported by gunship transports like Storm Eagles, early Valkyries and Vendettas.

Terminators, a few Dreadnoughts and air strikes serve as the heavy hitters. The odd Scout squad for recon and raiding. Whatever human soldiers I had under my command would surround the hive and keep everyone inside while my Legion cleansed it from the inside.

And suddenly I want to repaint all my marines...

Can a dreadnought & terminator focused Legion work? They'd be one of the smallest, either seconded to another Legion, or greatly assisted by auxiliaries (Legio Titanicus/Cybernetica preferred), as well as using whatever Knight forces available/offered. I'm thinking of calling them either the Bone Lords or the Iron Bears. And their Primarch is called Mal'Grand Ursis, because I thought of that a while back and it sounded great.

Probably not, they just can't have the numbers of an actual legion.

The Imperial Apostles (or Apostles of the Imperium)

Just like Jesus had 12 Apostles, we differ first of all in that we have 12 Companies instead of 10 (or however many companies there were during the Legion days) each lead by an Apostle who are similar to Chaplains but more charismatic.

Like how Blood Ravens specialize in having Librarians, we do in Chaplains.

Being that the Legion was just a bunch of generic failures, these Chaplains and Apostles are the ones that have boosted morale and motivation to a level never before, making them maybe still failures, but determined ones.

If the army had an RPG stat that epitomizes them, it's CHARISMA! Apostles of the Imperium are masters of communication better than other Space Marines. As a result they are sent for a wide variety of tasks. Boosting morale, getting involved with politics, missionary style work for the Emperor in unknown places, agreements like trade ones and treaties, etc.

We also as a result have made friends in many places who often supplement the Legion army in various different ways.

Is it obvious how much of a Word Bearers fan I am yet?

What did you write originally?
I think if you write 'to be honest' as initials it gets altered.
Lets test. desu

---

As for colour scheme, don't know.
Valkyries are oft associated with ravens and wolves but I'd want to minimise colour confusion with Luna or Space Wolves as well as Raven Guard.

The colours I'd likely choose between would be black for ravens, grey for wolves, white for both corpses and for swans there is some overlap with Valkyries and Swan Maidens, red for blood and maybe highlights in gold to represent wealth from being daughters of Odin/The Emperor and also blonde hair and silver for metal armour.

Maybe a black helmet and white armour, black left pauldron also because I like asymmetry colour schemes. Grey highlights are a maybe.
Another idea is red helmets, white bodies and silver highlights.

Einherjar on the other hand would probably be silver helmet and chest, white arms and legs and maybe red highlights or one arm in red.

Not to sure how that last one will look, actually.

And I'd definitely keep female marines. No tit-plate conversions but the odd bear head would be female. The manager of my local would get a laugh out of it and screw what other players think. If they can't handle it then it's their own problem.
I wonder how easily you could slim down a marine to give it a more female figure?

Plot wise, similar to what >>43570480 said.
They're the missing legion and we STILL don't know who and what they were. Why not female?

If you had a mutation in that most hopefuls survived the Marineing process and Geneseed matured much quicker, coupled with a forgeworld pretty much at your beck and call then it's not terribly far-fetched you could keep growing and supplying your numbers in secret.
Though with such a beneficial mutation there would need to be some major drawback to why Ultramarine Geneseed is still the preferred one to use.
Maybe they live shorter lives, a century at most?
Many of the implants just are not compatible?
Suspected or proven Xenos or Chaos tech heresy went into altering the geneseed and the only reason you are yet on the exterminatus list is because you are perpetually thrown into the fight head on with secret hopes you get wiped out saving them the troubles of what could be a very bloody war were they to take action personally?
>>
>>43570158
True enough but their benefits are still great. Even mindless drones have purpose in battle. Their strength would overpower just about any other ordinary infantry. Others do the planning and they just fight.

Just this to be honest, I'm pretty unoriginal and I fucking love psykers. I will call myself Aquarious and the legion sons of Aquarious and make them all fish themed psykers (the ebb and flow of the warp being an ocean of the mind kind of analogy) and keen explorers, being as weird and anti-social as I am they avoided all the other chapters and fucked off to the edges of the imperium and thus learned to rely on their psychic powers and bare hands to conquer their enemies. As for a gene seed defect maybe give them blue skin and large weird ears that looks like fins.

They avoided Horus, chaos and most of the fighting until the war on terra so imagine they won't be very popular with other chapters ESPECIALLY the Space Wolves due to our similarities to the thousand sons. However due to being extremely technophobic they've ironically great friends with the mechanicus due to handing in all the technology they find over to them and get nice supply of special force weapons.

For chapter tactics something like:
Psychic Tide: for 30 points they can upgrade any non-psyker infantry unit (excluding tech marines and chaplains) to be a level 1 brother hood of psykers (taking their powers from telekinesis, biomancy and pyromancy) and equip any characters in the unit with a force weapon for free (including the power fist listed below)
Tidal Surge: Once per game you may sacrifice any number of warp charge dice during the psychic phase and may nominate and equal number of units, these units gain fleet and move through cover for the rest of the turn.
Aqua power fists: A special powerfist with the force special rule, any power power fist wielded by a psyker is automatically upgraded to this force powerfist.

Ok, how many snowflakes out of ten do you rate them /tg/?
Would you use them on the table top?
Are they competitive?
>>
>>43572277
you could try and make them more focused on the xenos aspect

I am Lord Samerin Enkidu of the Razorbacks. Our Livery is Green and black, and our chapter mascot is the ferocious boar. Razorbacks admire belligerance and tenacity over all; we deploy from orbit, making extensive use of Drop Pods, cleanse the area and then hold that area until others can hold it for us or we are dead. When all is going well, a Razorback does not retreat. He does not advance. He holds.

Razorbacks never remove their armour, except in great privacy and secrecy. We are not men any more, we are marines, weapons of the emperors will, and a marine is not a marine bereft of his armor. No doubt rumours of mutation may arise. We will make no effort to confirm or deny such rumours. That is not our job. The emperors will is our job.

You mean I'm not related to that adulterous sack of shit? Fuck yes, and I'm Emps related? Neat.
Okay, made something up to contribute.

Fortuna's Host. Symbol of a hand holding aloft a set of scales. Speciality is close quarters fighting and urban combat, which translates into boarding and combat in ships, considering they're floating cities half the time.
Chapter discipline is based around mastery of the self, which is split into three categories. Mastery of the body, mastery of the mind, and mastery of the spirit. Body mastery is family self explanatory, but added to the mix are shaolin monk shenanigans where you can control your own heartbeat and temperature. Philosophy being that the Emperor granted you this great weapon and body, so you must understand it and use it completely before you can do the gift justice. This is where the cqc shit comes into play with fucking kung-fu marines with jump packs rushing you down a corridor.
Mastery of the mind is basically just a shitton of meditation and self reflection. Librarians also do bonus psyker control shit for this. Now it's more bhuddist monk with marines trying to attain an island of true peace no matter what. Probably translates into a modest buff to daemonic resistance.
Then mastery of the spirit. Half of it is just falling to pictures of the emperor and more meditation because marines do that. The other half is a chapter belief. Luck, or karma is something spirits or souls produce. Bit by bit it builds up until it's "spent" to create a piece of good fortune. With complete self control one can even control this process. Hoarding, Releasing or Burning their karma at will. Hoarding makes the marine unlucky, but saves the karma for dire need. Releasing allows the karma to be used up continuously, allowing a fortunate life. Burning uses up karma reserves to become unusually lucky.
Burning can't ensure victory or be targeted, but it does grant some benefit, even if unseen.

Remained neutral in Niket, and was Loyal if not particularly notable in the Heresy. Their tiny Primarch being either the Crippled or the Enlightened depending on whether you asked someone inside or outside the Legion. Spent much time after the Heresy doing the whole ascetic monk thing pondering the Warp. Legion split into rough thirds, one companies going to become Imperium Chapters, another protecting their Primary at their super secret monastery and the rest grabbed the ships of importance and now fly around kicking ass and taking names as Astartes do. The flagship of the Gambler's Ruin basically acting as their headquarters the field.

Seen from outside, the Legion as a whole is oddly lucky. Fatalities lower than expected, near-impossible odds survived with strange regularity and the like.
Nothing impossible can be done by merely being lucky. Skill will near always beat out luck. But when the scales are equal, simple luck is all it takes to unbalance it.

Basically though I wanted shaolin monk marines doing zero-g space kung-fu and I made up weird shit to go along with it.

All survivors released into the jungle and ordered to murder their brothers until only two chapter's worth is left. Take that remainder and run headlong into a Waagh, victory or we retreat when half is dead. The cocksuckers remaining are the first and last excessive marines. Battle cry is "Let's get fucked!"

My glorious chapter shall be called the Reptilians. Why? I like reptiles.

Our specialty is weaponized failure. We're just SO bad, we fail at everything we try. This has lead the chapter to develop a combat doctrine, where my mighty warriors actually actively work with the enemy, their best efforts effectively ensuring the total annihilation of the enemy force.

And these magnificent failures of mankind shall be led by none other than myself, Ilephas the Inferior!

>> and what you will have their specialty be.
Victory.
Specifically, we're not going to fuck around, we're not going to fight in parade colors, we're not going to derp around in melee:

>>> The chapter colors consist of effective camouflage appropriate to the terrain being fought in.
>>> All sets of armor in a given squad will be manufactured to be visually identical.
>>> Absolutely no rank markings of any kind when in battle. Without access to our IFF, you won't be able to tell any of us from anyone else in the same squad.
>>> No fancy bullshit. We're here to win wars, not to strut like preening peacocks. Combat uniforms are battle armor in camouflage. Non-combat uniforms are fatigues.
>>> Legion emphasis is on victory through combined arms tactics, especially air and space support, but also big on armored units. Infantry's job is to prevent enemy infantry from ruining our tanks and fighting in close quarters, not running out in the open and getting shot at.
>>
That's a good question. I guess I would look to how I play RTS games for an answer. I turtle, focusing entirely on defense and building my strength until I can crush the enemy with overwhelming force and firepower, generally short to medium range but also artillery.

So I'm yet another siege regiment I guess

I guess that could be my thing, combined arms with the IG and fulfilling whatever strategic shortcomings they have in hand. Infantry support for armored regiments. Assault support for light infantry, air support for artillery, etc.

Primarch Kahuna Alaia will lead the Legion of the Emperor's Grommits to victory on waves of the blood of the enemies of mankind.

We specialise in naval, both space and marine, and amphibious combat.
All my brothers are given training in the ancient Terran martial art of Lua and often carry weapons studded in our own sharp teeth.
The elite among the legion are taught to ride special Jetbikes in which the rider stands atop, surfing above the flotsam and jetsam of our enemies. Naught but death in their wake.

We also make extensive use of the Grav-Rhino for transport and many of our vehicles are specifically modified for amphibious use.

Dreadnoughts included.

The Heresy was long and gruelling, facing enormous losses in defence of Terra.
When the legions were cut down, we couldn't even find enough to make a full Chapter. Nor have we ever founded a successor since.
Rumours associating the Carcharodons to us are unsubstantiated despite the similarities of our Geneseed defects.

I met my own fate a century after the Heresy defending a spaceport as it evacuated against a tide of Orks. Attempting to stay afloat in seething rip of green.
What remained of the body after the bombs were detonated was cremated. What could be salvaged of my armour was incorporated into the arms and armoury of the Company Captains and Chapter Master.
My skull itself is fixed into an obelisk that watches over the ocean, forever staring towards the twilight lit waves I once surfed as a child.

We hail from the Fortress of Pikinni on the world of Psamathe, of endless beach atolls constantly forming and sinking back into the seas, watched over by towering mountain volcanoes.

Our Banner changes regularly, woven by the native islanders of our world given to us as gifts, they consist of patterns of significance to naught but themselves.
They, however, are draped over an ancient surfboard that belonged to me.
Our Symbol is a Surfboard standing erect. Many fish and tribal designs are also worked in.

We also have a bit of a habit in stealing any alien tech lying about. Tied up, hidden away, bolted down.

Methodist Marines. We take a shit ton of combat drugs and cut off our hands to replace them with weapons, instead adding a prehensile tail dendrite for manipulating things and wiping our asses. Also we go through a LOT of serfs. When we aren't fighting we're going through constant intense psycho indoctrination to deal with the come down and the fact that half our scars come from forgetting our hands are axes/guns. Or junkie shuffling with hands made from axes/guns.

We have a high rate of mutation as well, but that rarely comes out due to our also high rate of turnover.

We also have captures psykers that we drug to the gills with Datura equivalent and drop on enemy formations. About half the time this results in Chaos Demons but we're fucking too high to care.

TL;DR Part time autistic Eversor Marines.

In fact, that's likely why we were struck from the records.
Our tendency of escalating conflicts beyond sustainable means isn't the best.

That doesn't mean we are gone, though. We still maintain a Fortress Monastery among the asteroids that were once our home and we have squads operating across the galaxy as small teams on loan to many commanders. Astra Militarum, Adeptus Mechanicus, Adepta Sororitas or even other Adeptus Astarte Chapters alike.
It's rare we ever have anything even approaching company size present in one location. Last time that happened was fighting hive fleet Gidorah. While the Tyranids were stopped, the Edo system lost the world of Chuo.
The High Lords gave us a lot of grief for that one.

Get discovered and handed a Legion and all the toppings that go with it.

First things first.

Fortify the homeworld. Fortify the shit out of it. I've just seen the reports on shit like orks. FORTIFY ALL OF THE THINGS. build stock piles. Build self sustaining infrastructure to make world siege proof.

Set up recruitment stations.

Go to next closest human inhabited world. Take it under my wing. If they won't join my protection willingly even after showing thm the reports then we crush them flat. Then we copy ands paste what we did to the homeworld.

Then we find the next world and so on and so forth. after 5 worlds we start doing 2 at a time. After 10 we are doing 3 after 15 we are doing 4 and so on and so forth.

Just the closest ones to our ever expanding border.

No trade ships go in or out. We maintain trade stations at the gradually expanding border. If you want to trade you take it to them and the trade happens there. If you try and come into the territory you get shot at.

Emperor can bitch and moan all he wants that we are slow as shit. When he sees the defences second only to Holy Terra he can shut the fuck up or send soldiers to anoint them in blood.

Just keep slowly building a diamond hard empire.

Horus Heresy, Russ being sent to "retrieve" us, Chaos Incursions, Black Crusades, Dark Eldar raids, Ork WAAAAAAAAAGH!!!s, eventually Necron and Tyranid invasions and it all just slides off.

And we just keep fortifying. All you can do is slow us down. You can't stop us. If you are at our border you can choose join us or you will join us anyway.

Although most initiates survive gene seed implants, roughly 1 in 7 will be rendered irreparably blind. No amount of medical technology or implants will be able to fix this. However, most will still have a place on the battlefield as part of the phalanx. They'll be the flamer toting marines, as you don't really need to be able to see to set everything in front of you on fire.
Those that don't serve on the line will be drill instructors and will modified to produce more gene seed than your average marine, allowing more marines to be recruited.

I'm gonna call myself the Lady and them Red Tigers. They'll be armoured up to brim - as many Termie armour as I can get, doubling and tripling of every system, huge shields. We're gonna be bloody slow, but it doesn't matter, because we'll abuse the hell out of teleporters.

We'll specialize in sacking cities, shipboarding and fortress-taking - basically, everything that hides behind walls, but we're not gonna go through walls, we're gonna bypass them altogether. I'll get the best Mechanicum teleportation specialists out there and we'll enter combat by teleporting straight in enemies' midst. We'll butcher everyone and teleport back when it gets too hot. This last thing will probably get us called cowards, but female geneseed will probably not be compatible with too many people, so I probably won't be able to afford losing too many men/women. My Librarius will be good at transporting people through large distances as well, in case teleportation will be screwed up or teleport blocks will be worse than we've planned for.

Our symbol will be a striking tiger and our colours will be black with red.

>Only recruit from Judges, Bankers, and Propaganda artists
>Keep original beakie helmets
>Wear large hats, cloaks, representing our shrouding from a world in defiance to the emprah
>Guard merchant ships, economic centers of forgeworlds and hive cities
>The Curse of the Gilt affects the most senior of Marines, manifesting itself as an intense, quaking hunger to invest money and invest it well, physically causing the affected marine to rub his hands together. These Marines crime effective centers of knowledge due to an eventual absolute knowledge of trade routes and money flow, some able to figure out what a coin was used for just by looking at it.
>Rarely direct combatants, but when they are, they're masters of disguise

>Legion Name
Star Wights

>Specialization
Naval Combat in all its forms. Boarding actions, ship to ship combat, air superiority, and paratroops. The legion would focus on ranged combat, as such Sergeants would not wield a melee weapon and pistol, but rather two pistols or a special ranged weapon.

Weapons with high levels of collateral damage would similarly be used sparingly. Preferred weapons would be the Autocannon and Melta-Gun.

There would be elite squads who specialize in crippling or hijacking enemy ships mid battle.

My legion would forgo Terminator armor as it would be too easy to get stuck in a bulkhead or fall victim to a teleporter mishap.

When forced to deploy planet side, the Star Wights enter combat in masses of Dread Claw Pods or Para-dropping directly onto the enemy with orbital and air superiority.

My personal retinue would be designated as the Genies, for when a ship sinks into the gravity well of a planet it looks like so many falling stars as it falls.

Due to my Legion's fondness of ships of all kinds, we would have a friendly relationship with the Adeptus Mechanicus and a larger than average contingent of Tech Marines.

Pro-Psykers, so I'd be on Magnus and the Khan's side when it came to the Council.
Also, I would turn traitor when Horus started his bid for the Throne. Afterwards, Daemon Primarch of Chaos Undivided with my legion operating as splinter fleets all over the galaxy. The hijacking of enemy ships becomes more important as that is the primary way how we grow our fleets.

Dirk diglet primarch of the molemen

Specialist in underground warfare.
Legion tactic involves the deployment of droppods that drive into the ground and then turn into / deploy tunneling vehicles. While the marines are moving into position below more droppods are deployed around enemy hard points containing sentry guns / aaa.

Legion wears plain brown power armor with bonewhite helms with the only marking being a pickaxe denoting a "digging" or the taking part in the conquest of a planet.

Have a high amount of terminator armour but no jumpacks. Only vehicles are specifically designed land raider patterns that can burrow.

They can delve as deep as necessary, the vehicles designed to take immense pressures; most of the time they will only delve far enough underground to protect them from artillery / give themselves the element of surprise.

When assaulting hives they will delve to the very bottom and cause mass slaughter driving the inhabitants skyward ( causing mass riots and exodus' as the hive scum flee into the upper parts of the. Hives like the huns drove the germanic tribes before them to soften up the hives defenses)
>>43583477
If they encounter a water world the equipment is viable underwater but not as efficient; they will tend to go around / conduct orbital bombard the planet with meteors ( no need to waste valuable ammo) letting the admin recolonise the world.

Droppods into the hive?

And mainly so that the causalities on the marines is lowered, by using the population against itself. They also love using poison gas which is harmless to them. Micromanaging would be my gimmick.
I spend a inordinate amount of time personally overseeing everything, with autonomy and independence granted only to those who have my unwavering trust.

I personally oversee the logistical side of the development of worlds, training of armies, establishing of supply routes and more. Every planet micromanaged as if I were playing a game of Total-War or Civilization. An eternal leader who cannot die and can oversee the development and growth of planets over many lifetimes.

Soldiers supplied with uniformly masterwork and artificer Armour because of how many forges I have dedicated to that specifically.

Conquering worlds and bringing them into the Imperial Creed en-mass with carrot and stick approach trade agreements, cultural saturation, strategic assassinations of problematic figures and tactical military actions.

A thousand planets micromanaged and built up to my ideals of perfection, handing off the continued development of unproblematic worlds to my loyal servants whom are welcomed to consult with me about anything that bothers them.

Dude, ever hear of knocking?

I am Mhi Myysulf, and my legion will be called the Interrogators. Since they aren't exactly frontline material, they will investigate the Imperium and beyond for any worship of gods (we'll tolerate ancestor worship for now, and if you have to worship the emperor, you WILL acknowledge that he is not a god, just the outer limits of human potential) or other plots directed at the Imperium, in addition to managing relationships with other powers.
Our insignia is an open eye, and we behave in the most gonzo manner possible in order to get the information we want.

I'll probably be a Psyker specializing in telepathy/divination type stuff. Probably stand up for Magnus at Nikea, while remaining wary of sorcerery. It needs to be understood to be contained, and as far as gods are concerned, the cat is out of the bag. What we can do is explain to people what the Chaos Gods really are and why they suck.

As to the Horus Heresy - either we blow the whistle on Horus, or he blows the fuck out of us before we can.

As to the Codex Astartes - I've always hated Gulliman, so i'd take his copy and throw it in a fire while flipping him off.

The Bald Marines. The Codex Baldstartes shall be our guide, our tactics shall be to reflect the suns rays from our mighty bald and fewlish heads into our enemies eyes. Then we shall stomp them under our bootheels and blast them with our bolters. We will destroy them with simultaneous devastating, defensive deep strikes. I am the Primarch, Indrick Boreale. We shall not die this day no.
>>
>>43585988
Also the flaw in our geneseed is that we are all completely incapable of growing body hair or not losing half the chapter in each major conflict.
>>
My name shall be Jarius Logan. I will lead The Wight Lords. Our legion is specialized in suicide missions, going to Death Worlds and battlefields where the environment itself is trying to kill you.

Our home planet would be an icy Death World where the only hospitable part is the fortress monastery.

We'd have access to unique types of weapons which are basically flamers but instead of flames they shoot really fucking cold winds or some shit like that.

We'd be a weird lot to outsiders and other legions, being quiet and focused for the most part. When we do speak though, people listen and likewise we listen back if they're worthy of attention. Although we'd seem cold(Oh god) at first, a complete loyalty will be formed should friendship take root between us and others.

As for traits, each brother would have some sort of temperature control inside their armor to stay comfortably cold (Which would be very cold to others.), should this be shut down, it gets very uncomfortable for the brother in question. Basically meaning if we get too hot, we just can't handle it. Our numbers would also be very few due to the low pop of our planet, the recruitment process, and the fact that we go on numerous suicide missions. Armor would be kinda white and blue, no idea about the symbol.

Hope this was alright but yeah I think I saw an anon post some idea similar to this earlier and I thought it was cool so I kinda built this off that somewhat.

I am Charles 'The Great' Rolandus. My marines shall all take faggy french names and we shall be the most chivalrous of all. Our steeds shall be our ships, and they will be better taken care of than any horse of chivalry. My marines shall be the Knights of the Nebulae, and we shall destroy the enemies of man before they approach landfall on the planets of the Imperium. Basically, rather than have 100 000 redundant people running a starship, and a few capable people stuck in the bridge, we have 16000 serfs, 4000 techpriests and 50 marines to command, operate the weapons, and generally run the things. Precision orbital bombardment and extensive use of air-to-ground ordinance bombers followed by Thunderhawk assaults and jump-pack death-from-above tactics, as well as extensive use of power lances. If we must be deployed without air support, we use bikes and hit-and-run.

Basically, White-Scars level speedy, close-range shooty armada of hundreds of ships who see it as the greatest honour to use their massive, pointy power rams to plow through enemy capital ships like they're a jousting lance. Chivalrous in the 'dont be a dick to your lessers' sense, but not to the bleeding heart levels of the Salamanders. Emblem of a purple spiral nebulae with sparkly stars in it. Good relationship with the Mechanicus, who they treat like Arthurian wizards.

So long as it's simple to make, resources aren't that huge an issue. All the complex stuff will the be shock absorbers and stuff in the ship proper that the techpriest maintain. Hell, so long you win you could pick the ram back up and tug it back to s forgeworld to recycle it into a new unfucked ram.

There actually are drop pods designed for carrying tanks in the background.
But they don't exist in miniature form, possibly for balance* reasons and most stories are written off of what exist in the minis so they just never get mentioned much at all.

Also Thunderhawks can go from Orbit to ground in just a few minutes, just slightly slower then a drop pod.
You could always have the drop pods take out the immediate anti-air then they get Thunderwahk and Razorback support straight after.

*Balance, Ha!

I'll name myself Reinsvald Feroces, and become the Primarch of the Steelbound Rangers. We would specialize in anti-marine warfare (heavy bolters, lots of armour-piercing ammo, etc.).

Loyalists to the end, yet unsatisfied with the current state of the Imperium, the Steelbound Rangers would make it their duty to try to bring renegades back into the fold, by force if necessary. Heretics are put down on sight.

Troop transports are used extensively, but by no means are they relied upon.

This most likely will lead to an above average relationship with the Mechanicus. For obvious reasons, the Inquisition and the Ecclesiarchy would disapprove of us attempting to be friendly with renegades (perceived as heretics to them). Civilians, the Guard, and such would be secondary concerns for us, getting in our way more often than not.

As for flaws, a resistance to indoctrination can cause many Steelbound Rangers find themselves questioning the Imperium too much, and may turn renegades or heretics themselves.

>> Specialty?

Air superiority(gunships, fighters, bombers, assault squads, thunderhawk transported tacticals and dreadnoughts, with halo jumping scouts with grav-chutes, and sometimes some special "conscripts")

>> preferred Tactics?

Never fighting alone, as our name sake we never start battles we find battles already at their hottest.

We use our air and space fighters to open holes in the enemies air defenses. we then proceed to strike where the enemy can least afford and where ever the most to gain can be had.

When the enemy falls we vultures scramble to grab everything we can including the enemy troops (zenos or rebels just so long as they aren't orks, necrons, or demons)

There are multiple reasons for this "mercy".
1. All human children of the Taken, as we call them, are trained as child solder guard regiments so that we can later take the strongest as marines and the rest as serfs and servitors.
2.adult traitors and zenos(likely tau, and other Small races) are fed chems and are to be used like a penal legion.

3.Any taken that is of use (heretics, tau earth cast, etc.) as more than cannon fodder will be used to maintain or captured tech.

4.Scout marine training. when not being sent to their slaughter against our enemy these taken are moved to special planets where our younger marines can sharpen their beaks in live fire exercises.

>> Chapter colors?
the shoulder pads show a black vulture resting on a branch in the middle of a field of red.
The rest of the armor is changed from black, brown, gray, and white or any combination of the 4 depending on the terrain.
And of course everyone needs to where Mk VI corvus armor because beakies rock.

Surrendering enemy combatants are treated well, as are surrendering civilians, to give the enemy a reason to yield.

I posted this on /r/ Warhammer 2 years ago, but this is the story of my swashbuckling piratical Primarch.

Far on the fringes of the Imperium of Man lies the Barbados Sector, known for three things: fortune, glory, and piracy. Upon one of its smaller planets, Carribb IX, located in an insular solar system towards the middle of the sector, a child unlike any other was delivered. Where his brothers resembled Father, he did not. As a boy he was endowed with the strength of many and the flesh like that of ancient Terran carcharians, grey as stone, and rough as honing parchment. He was perfectly adapted to his adoptive homeworld; a biosphere largely comprised of oceanic reefs, deep sea trenches, sporadic desert islands and mega fauna the likes of which have not been seen outside the most warped reefs in the Eye of Terror. The environment bred its own caste of humanity, one that favored travel on the seas, and given the limited resources, a life of constant piratical upheaval. It was on this planet that the boy would become man. And it was on this planet that its human inhabitants would come to truly know what it meant to fear. As he grew his human visage became more and more distorted; his skull broadened, and flattened into an awful visage, his smile gaped into a cavernous pit filled to the brim with jutting saw-edged daggers, his eyes dulled, recessed and grew spheroid, until no cornea remained visible. When blood was drawn, that was when all terror broke loose upon the denizens of Carribb IX. His eyes became black. No soul left, no remembrance of the seafarers who took him in and taught him their trade. Only thirst. Lust. Need. A need for sanguine floods, a need for immersion in gore. The last many men on Carribb IX saw were those blackest eyes and his descending maw.

>>43601929 continued.

By the time The Emperor of Mankind reached the reeling planet of Carribb IX, few survivors held out; fewer still spoke any sense. And the Emperor knew the presence he sensed was indeed on this planet, and now knew him to be one of his lost brood. But the atrocities, the tales of mangled millions; it couldn’t be. The demonic presence emanating from the polar region was undoubtedly belonging to his son and what his cult of blood had brought down upon this unsuspecting world, the Emperor knew Khorne’s presence now. He understood it. One of his own had brought his greatest enemy, the greatest threat to mankind into real space. There was only one thing left to do, beat Khorne’s minions back into the warp and send in The Wolves and their mighty King to clean up the rest. When the Exterminatus order came down, the Emperor shed a single tear, knowing the horror of his own creations.

I'll be Gaudin, the Bold. The legion will be the Crusaders. They specialise in mechanized infantry assaults, supported by artillery and air support. Tanks support APC and infantry in the open, from other enemy vehicles and fortified positions. Infantry and APCs support the tanks in urban or close quarters combat.

Companies in the legion will be split into two main roles, close quarters combat, and support. CQC companies will be made up of four platoons of tactical marines. Each platoon will have sixteen marines, split into two squads of eight. Platoons are commanded by a lieutenant with a sergeant as a second in command. Support companies will have three platoons of support marines and one CQC platoon for security. The support platoons will be armed with motars, autocannons, lascannons and anything else they need.

The Ironclad, "IF VIOLENCE DOESN'T SOLVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS YOU AREN'T USING ENOUGH OF IT"

Negotiations with humans who might rejoin the imperium:
>w-we need to time think about this... compliance of yours, lord "whatever, sit the fuck down"
>COMPLIANCE? FUCK COMPLIANCE, FUCK YOUR PLANET. YOU HAVE 3 FUCKING SECONDS BEFORE I VIRUS BOMB THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR ENTIRE CIVILIZATION! AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FO' COMPLIANCE, I'VE GOT ELDAR TO KILL

Negotiations with human mutants and other demi-humans: PURGE IT WITH FIRE, LET THE MECHANICUM SORT THIS SHIT OUT

I'd hold the record for most compliances without a doubt. Including repopulated planets that is.

Fuck that. You're now nautical pirate themed. Imperial edict. CQC involves chain cutlasses and power hooks, company captains have Servo skulls that repeat "Pieces of eight" as nauseum and your heavy weapons look a lot like old timey cannons.
Your battle cant is "You are a Pirate". And you get on well with Rogue Traders.

Fuck you and your unrelated pictures.

Anyone has that image to roll for names?
I need it for a cat looking partner. (Not a furry, an actual cat)

I'd probably give my actual name, because i'd forget what I wanted to be called.

My chapter would be the marines Trivium, and would focus on maximizing enemy casualties while minimizing our own.
I mean, even more so that normal battle, as in, we would retreat from battles that didn't look favorable, and just fuck up whatever we lost so badly that it was pointless for the enemy to even take it.
Not that we'd make it easy for them to take it. We'd barricade ourselves into the enemy objective and booby trap the hell out of it, and as soon as shit went south we'd just fuck off.

We'd also attack the most pointless of objectives, only if they were poorly fortified, just to increase enemy casualties. Because fuck you.

Oh, and the Marines Trivium would be ludicrously petty.

"CHAPTER MASTER, BROTHER OBNOXIOUS HAS TWO MORE PURITY SEALS THAN I DO!"

"SHUT UP, BROTHER IRRITATUS!"

"BUT-"

"I SWEAR BY THE EMPEROR I WILL TURN THIS BATTLE BARGE AROUND"

I like these guys, i'd accept them as an actual legion.
