Question /tg/

why doesnt WOTC to get more profit just print out some old sought after cards, but also make it look like they're the original sets?

so they sell like 10 or so black lotus that probably cost them $5 to make for $100,000. that seems like a good deal.

WTC cares more about collector than people who play this game /thread

Because that's killing the goose that lays the golden egg.

The black lotus being so expensive is like free advertisement. If anything, they'd rather buy up some of the black lotuses out there, so that the price of them would rise up.

They would have to kill everyone in the print shop to prevent the secret from leaking, but removal is too expensive these days.

10/10 post right there.

They don't even need to print them. They have a bunch of unshipped cards laying around somewhere. That's where the zendikar treasures came from.

This explains everything you'll need to know about why WotC does/does not reprint cards. It's all about moving shipments and keeping collectors happy.

the main reason? They'd get sued for so much money so fast that even if they WIN all the class-action suits, wotc would be bankrupt. And if, god forbid, they LOSE one of the suits then that opens up an ENTIRE new can of worms, where collectible card game makers can be held accountable for secondary market price fluctuations.

When a person goes into a LGS and buy a Black Lotus for $5,000+ (or whatever it's at). It does not get syphon magically back to WotC. The LGS pockets the money.

Wizard's get money for selling booster pack boxes. Which is like $140-$150 ish?
Stores get the money for up selling any packs or sought after rares.
