Ever met a female Wargamer? In any wargame of any kind? I'm not making any assumptions; I've just never met one and I was curious.
>>
>>43540397
I've never seen a girl inside a games workshop store, I guess we won't ever have female space marines as long as thats a thing.
>>
>>43540397
She plays Orks
>>
>>43540454
>She
She, errr he. Um. It. Plays Orks.
>>
Thus Emprah saith:
"No girls allowed"
>>
Yes. They're usually as bad as the average male wargamer.
>>
>>43540397
>Ever met a female Wargamer?
probably plays slaanesh .
>>
I have never met one that came to the hobby on her own accord. All have been accompinied by a boyfriend or husband.

The manager of the GW store in Lexington, KY is a 20 something chick. Not bad looking. She is annoyingly upbeat, positive and sales oriented.

I drug my old grognard ass in there to get a plastic scraper. I buy GW stuff used and haven't played their games in 15 years. Played 40K back in the early 1990s in the rogue trader days.

"What army do you play?" she asks in an annoyingly perky voice. "Space Marines" I mutter. "What chapter?" She says.
"Criminsons Fists" I say trying not to make eye contact. 'Oh awesome! Crimsons Fists! high five!" She exclaims holding up her hand.

Me: GTFO

what is this female you're talking about?
>>
>>43540397
I know a girl playing Mordheim and my Infinity group has 3.

My gf likes to paint miniatures, but she don't like the game aspect.

> I have never met one that came to the hobby on her own accord. All have been accompinied by a boyfriend or husband.

Basically this. I know a couple girls that play warhams though, usually Tyranids, Chaos, or Sisters of Battle. Some are good players, some are bad. Most enjoy the hobby aspect (converting, painting) more than the wargame aspect, they have a slowly growing army and literally never plan to play or take it to an FLGS.
>>
Played Malifaux with a friend's girlfriend yesterday. She was interested in a few of the models and got hooked after we played a big 2 vs 2 with along with my friend and another friend of hours. She was rocking a pretty solid Arcanist crew for a first timer fuck Corphee Duets.

At some point I wanna try selling her and my friend on Frostgrave so that he can use his Warmahorde models and still play a game with her.
>>
>>43540397
Theres a girl employee at my local GW, shes nice
>>
>>43540965
>>43541154
She does it for money.
>>
>>43541194
Most girls do. Your point?
>>
>>43541123
>and got hooked after we played a big 2 vs 2

This. Girls usually aren't interested in 1vs1 competitive games.
Find/play something cooperative if you want to convince girls to play.
>>
>>43541209
I want true love(((
>>
>>43541292

But she did just fine in the 1 vs 1 game though. The only reason we did a 2 vs 2 was because we had 4 people and only one of us really knew how the system worked. Now that she has her own minis we probably won't play anymore big group games anymore.
>>
>>43541337
>But she did just fine in the 1 vs 1 game though.

I never said girls are bad at it, but in my experience is the chance of doing bad/the possibility of losing what keeps them away from trying it in the first place.
>>
Not wargaming, but a girl I know loves Dark Heresy and all the other 40k rpgs to an extent I find boggling. For whatever reason she's run through the entire system, decided it's perfect in every way and will hop on a chance to play it in an instant.

Can never bring herself to GM though, apparently she believes that she would be terrible at it and wouldn't have any idea what to do.
>>
>>43540965
I taught my GF to play 40k

We don't go to shops, just play at home on occasion.

She just uses one of my 4 armies, and would have no interest if not for me.
>>
>>43541587
>and would have no interest if not for me.

Thats usually the case when it comes to girls and "hobbies".
They do what their boyfriend does, and if the relationship ends some day, she will stop doing that hobby and start whatever her new bf likes.
>>
>>43541662
I plan to one day teach our kids to play, regardless of gender.

Who knows if they'll end up liking it or not caring tho.
>>
>>43540965
You sound like a real ray of sunshine.
>>
>>43541194
I usually go later in the day a couple of hours before they close because thats when im leaving from work, im known there so they dont push sales on me as much and we just chat and hangout for abit
>>
>>43542363
Fuck her right in the shop after closing. That's what I call roleplaying.
>>

Up in Seattle-ish,

Two women frequent the shop and play war-games. One plays Hordes (circle and legion) and the other some kind of historical that has a small following in the shop. I'm a faggot so I don't play historical and could not tell you more.

The Hordes woman was a pain to play against, she'll spend every last second she can spare deliberating and insisting there there is a play that will grant her victory there-and-then. after a two games i demanded a clock.
>>
Every since my FLGS closed down I haven't been able to meet many wargamers. One actually opened up that was in my hometown, but it was more oriented towards boardgames and cardgames with no real room for wargaming. Which is sad, because the owner's put some effort into getting GW stuff and is a very nice guy.

Anyway, I don't think I've ever personally met a female wargamer, I've only heard about them second hand, and most of them are Malifaux players that my Dad knows while I work with Warhammer stuff - which probably means that they're just college students he's enthusiastically recruited for a local game club with Malifaux as the focus.

I really wish I could say differently, because I have met some real women who play RPGs and even one or two that I enjoy playing with, and I'm sure that I could meet such generally good people in wargaming too.

>>43541746
It could help - my dad taught me about Magic when I was a kid. Even though I don't really keep up with the newer sets anymore, its what first opened me up to going to card stores and other nerdier hobbies. It also means that I can pull out my old magic deck and play a friendly game now and again. Just don't shove it down their throats - half the reason it worked was because I could play with my brother and that made it more fun.
>>
>>43540397
I met two girls in a GW store once, although it was in Glasgow so they were probably in to huff the solvents.
>>
One of the female sales reps creamed her pants and was all over me like a cheap coat when I walked in and bought 500 worth of Warhammer shit once.
>>
>>43540397
I met one right outside my games workshop.
She saw me buying Skitarii, started talking about the hobby, possibly hit on me, and frankly, I had too many late shifts to properly flirt back plus I was already running late because of traffic so I didn't want to lose my job.

Sometimes I think I imagined it.

But it was too vivid.
Shirt dyed red hair, petite build, black glasses, jeans and a Disney Oswald shirt.
Had she had freckles, I think I would've called my boss up and quit right then and there because I would have MADE time for her.
but alas, too groggy to think clearly.

I think she played Tau, but maybe she was talking about how bullshit the new models are? It's been awhile.

Lame excuses, and you know it.
>>

I've never met any wargamer. Are you guys even real?
>>
>>43546999
It's hard to find them physically, trips. Especially in the midwestern US where there's almost no wargaming presence or large cities to gather in.

Yeah, two 40k players.

Take out the boobs and they would be 100% indistinguishable from males.

She's only a casual though
>>

How fat is she? It seems to be a requirement to work there.
>>

>oh there are so few wargamers in X part of the USA.

Try living in France.
We have like three people playing RPGs or Wargames here.
>>
>>43541746
My dad got me into the hobby when I was very little, and when he had less work. I started again on my own in Uni, and I think I'll try to teach my children as well, instead of putting vidya in their hands.
Didn't have a great effect on the long term for me.
>>
>>43543760
Another anon had the same kind of encounter of buying skitarii and meeting a girl like this, although in his story she said she wouldn't mind a bit of metal in her men, even though she digged BT more.

The Omnissiah guide the hearts of the true.

Is /tg/ stuff really big in Germany?

I might be moving there to help a friend with his startup company.
>>
>>43548566
I'm in the middle of my country. I'd have to drive for days just to reach either of the coasts were RPGs are more popular. Not really practical unless I want to move.

You, you live in a much smaller country in the middle of the EU. Passports are easy, money is easy, and it's a much shorter drive/ride. All you have to do is make sure you know the language of the country you're going to and you're set. Germany is right there, England is right there.
>>
Played one in a Hordes Event yesterday.

ALot of emotions and frustrations, and cussing out her Bf for not giving her advanced knowledge of what list she should play against mine.

Every event gets fucked on so hard, just a nightmare of negativity when her "Carefully laid plan" fails spectacularly.
>>
>>43548884
I've seen more rule sets in german, and a few friends that have traveled have shown me pictures of gigantic game stores.

How fucked would I be having no prior experience in speaking German?

If this gig becomes a thing I'm more than happy to start learning the language, but it'd probably be a while before I'd get even ok at it.

well, english is of course germanic but they diverged a long time ago and the normans dumped a lot of french in it. if you're immersed you'll be forced though so expect a few months to shed the drooling retard phase if you supplement it with actual book learning
>>
There was a chick that used to play Warmachine in my lgs. She used green stuff to sculpt little bunnies and shit the hang out on her warjacks that were all hot pink and had tutus and shit glued on to them. She played Khador. Haven't seen her since that store closed down. She was okay.

Not here they don't

several actually. if your not autistic and only hang at game stores youll find them

ran into one a WFB tourney. she was running DEs...good looking. Not a hambeast. had on a nice leather and latex outfit in theme with her army. ample cleavage to distract the guys...cause-you know-most of them ..have never seen a girl. didnt work against me. my GF was with me at the time and she had bigger tits

used to be a female model that used to play Flames of War...ran soviet tanks. she used to post all the time on battlefronts forums

Ive even ran into the ocassional one that plays old school hex and counter games
>>
>>43550582
If guys were to dress up in theme with their army, 90% of the time we'd call them insane autists. Especially in the case of Sisters of Battle. Still sounds kind of bullshit that anyone would dress up in theme with their army beyond a colored t-shirt or something.
>>
>>43550945
Meh. I can't say cosplay is any weirder than hex-and-counter wargaming, as hobbies go. I gotta say I've never seen anyone combine the two, though.

And no, I've never ever seen a woman who was into board wargames. This might possibly be, in part, well--it's an old stereotype but if you've ever been in a casino you'll see it in action. Women don't like games that (appear to) involve skill. Women don't like blackjack. Women don't like poker. Women like to feel lucky. Women love slot machines. Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em, just plug the coins into 'em and yank the handle.

Go to a chess tournament. Do you see a lot of girls? Not at any I've ever been to.

Possibly there are too many people making the same "clever" remark about "attacking your flanks," too, but then again a girl would actually have to be there to play before that could happen.
>>
>>43552197
I think both sexes like to feel lucky. I mean, come on. Dice rolls.

As for the chess tournament thing, it's been a while since I was last to one, but I distinctly remember there being several girls there. One of which I lost to.
>>
>>43541373
probably because if we lose even one game when we're learning to play, in a public setting, we get to hear the most cliche "girls can't game" bullshit or, possibly even worse, we get a bunch of horny wargamer guys trying to "show us how to play" in the most thinly veiled attempt at getting to spend time with a girl ever.

That said my local game store is actually full of mostly guys in relationships already and is pretty cool. I haven't entered any tournaments yet because I am poor and can't afford to sink myself in just yet, but I plan on eventually accumulating an army capable of competitive play.
>>
>>43548884
They encourage weekly board game nights for the family. For board games, the term "euro" stems from the German style mechanics of the 90s.
They /tg/ plenty.
>>
>>43548653
It would help if you stopped raping children while you talked to them about war games.
>>
I know a couple of grills that are into malifaux
>>
>>43540397
Of the five girls who frequent my FLGS(out of some 80 people) one plays Orks, two play Nids, and the other two play Malifaux. There's probably some Magic players but since there's a wall between them and the wargamers I wouldn't know.
>>
3 Types of female wargamer:

1.) Friend Wargamers 5/10 annoying girlfriend

2.) SJW PC police who is looking to show up just to complain

3.) Girl legit into it, not pleasant to the eye
