Getting back into the game after a 10 year hiatus. I want a cheap-ish deck that will stand up to the current meta. I've been eyeing the Monarch structure deck that will be released at the end of January, but I want to get into locals in the meantime.

Currently I own a Six Samurai deck, and a bunch of older structure decks (Spellcasters Judgement, Warrior's Triumph, Invincible Fortress, etc.) and a shitton of old common cards.

I see a lot of Bujin cards in my area and I hear those are a solid deck for the budget player.

Any ideas?

Also it's worth mentioning that my Six Samurai is essentially the SD straight outta the box, plus the synchro Shi En, so there is no 3 kagemusha + asceticism that makes it the tier 2 deck it used to be.

it was fun. I quit playing about the time that Abyss rising came out, because it was just getting too much with XYZ and Synchro bullshit.

Is it better now? or does everyone use whatever the newest thing is? Pendulum summon or what it was called?

Bujin would be relatively cheap to buy and or easy to trade for.

You could also buy a bit more for your Six Sam deck by either investing more in the structure decks or getting singles by buying and trading for them.

Six Sams can be pretty solid first turn if you can drop 2 Shi Ens or a Beast and a Shi En. Especially in a Pendulum heavy format.

Synchro has become literally irrelevant over the years, and is now only good in Synchro heavy archetypes instead.

Xyz is still around, and due to being generic in the sense of "X Level Y monsters", they will keep going strong.

Pendulum are literally the in thing right now since Konami is pushing for them, and it's an easy way to drop a bunch of High Level monsters at once.

So at the current time, it's one of the most degenerate summoning methods in the game right now.

hell, I used to have a field-day for ages with my EVIL HERO deck, even up until I quit. Most people didn't expect me to use such a dated deck, and therefor didn't have any "proper counter" towards it.

You could run Masked HEROes.

It's literally Elemental HEROes, but with quick play spells that only use 1 monster to special summon a Fusion monster from the extra deck of the same, respective Attribute as the monster used.

You can also incorporate cards like Miracle Fusion to just skip over running any Pendulum/Synchro/Xyz monsters in your extra.

Monarchs are also getting a Structure Deck in January in the TCG, they don't really need an Extra Deck either since most of their support prevents Special Summoning from the Extra Deck or needing you to have absolutely no cards in the Extra Deck for it to work.

Technically speaking, Mega Zaborg is one of the best 3 Monarchs right now.

Mobius is kind of useless until Pendulumemes become cancer, and Raiza is complete garbage compared to his original self.

Caius is still top tier, and Theslatos is up there now that he lets you look at your opponents hand.
