>Chad and Niger kind of look like a dude eating a drumstick

>all those coasts that look like dicks
>>
>>43405802
Well, not exactly. The orchid need to be fucked by the bee because the bee will be covered in pollen from another orchid, thus transferring the "sperm" from the first orchid to the "ovaries" of the second (remember that many plants are hermaphrodites, so it dosent matter which plant is visited first or last). A dryad analogue would be a male/hermaphoriditic dryad tree that in some way got their equivalent of seed onto a human, who then in turn wanted to fuck the female tree nymph plant, and in the act would transfer the male dryads seed to the female dryad (and whoosh! dryad kids!)
An idea coming to mind could be a complex life cycle where the "male" dryad was living parasitic in humans, maybe transferred via air as spores to the lungs, and then lived in the male humans testicles. When the carrier gets aroused by the tree, he'll fuck it and not only his own seed, but the dryad seed gets transferred as well, and gets the female dryad pregnant.
>>

>all those coasts that look like dicks

And it's the fashion capital of the world too. What dumb worldbuilding. I'm guessing the "really dangerous animal" place has, like, a spiky bit and a bite taken out of it.
>>
>>43405909
Many parasites are not overly dangerous to their host as a dead host equals a dead parasite. Many parasites, from fungi to bacteria, can infect and change the nerual system of their host. This parasite could give you a tree fetish... but we're getting dangerously close to a magical realm. (it could also change your social behaviour, making normal human females less attracted to you, thus ensuring the host wont spend his infected seed where it shouldnt go)
>>
>>43404599
>Lizards can't have tits, it's unrealistic.
It's a bipedal, reptile who can speak human language and perform higher thought. Milk glands on a bipedal creature that came from the same evolutionary ancestor is not fucking impossible.
>>
>>43405959
It is a shame there's so few symbiotes in the world.

But that's evolution for you, it wont take you to the best possible place but it will take you places of varying excitement.
>>
>>43405959
When you think of it, all worker bees are generally female. Now I'm not saying that this would devolve into some kind of fut~whatthefuckiswrongwithme
>>
>>43405924
Definetly! Even though boilogically speaking, there would be too large a difference in the genomes of the male dryad seed and the human female egg to make it happen, I suppose...
>>
>>43405984
>Magic.

>Dragon blood.

>Magic dragon semen.
Pick your poison.
>>
>>43405967
Yes, however, many relationships that are either considered symbiotic or parasitic isnt very well examined. Take the birds on the backs of gazelles/gnus/whatevers in africa. It was previously thought that the birds and beasts had a purely beneficial win/win situation thing going. Recent research has revealed that the birds sometimes keep the wounds on their "host"s back open, to allow for more maggots and such they can eat. Its never really a binary thing, and the symbiose/ parasitism border is quite blurred in the real world
>>
>>43405934
>a setting where the shape of a region dictates the strengths and weaknesses of its native culture
I would play it.
>>
>>43405984
Even if the dryadspunk isnt compatible with human eggs, maybe it changes the genome of the human seed? So it's like, both dryand and man spunk in a load, and the manspunk is genetically different from the fathers genome
>>
>>43406008
I guess... I'd just really like to world-build a fantasy world which adhered to the rules of evolution and biology, just tuning the possibilities a bit... Like, cross-speecies vira can carry DNA from one organism to another, so if we imgained that the organisms were a bit more robust than what they are today, we could explain a hippogyph via a horse/eagle viral infection
>>

ahhh yes, that could be an explanation. Actually, instead of elfs being the mistake, they could be a stage in a dryads life cycle. Parasitic life cycles can be as convoluted as you want them to. (pic related)

So some kind of reverse foocubus? Could work, I suppose.

(Referring to the idea of succubi stealing semen from men, then turning into incubi and knocking up a lady with that man's semen.)
>>
>>43406143
depends on how many human males are infected, and secondly, the dryad-elf-parasite would not be "interested" in the extinction of humans, as it is their primary host. It has spent millions of years of evolution perfecting the trip through a human body and infecting the human sperm cells, why kill off humanity and waste all that work (or, evolutionary speaking, if it HAD done so, it would itself have gone extinct, and thus today we would see another (fitter) virus which didnt kill off its host)
>>
>>43405924
You get a spriggan.
>>
>>43406176
Gender being a static thing in nature is a very mammal way of using the sexes, loads of organisms are much more loose when it comes to this
>>
>>43406182
Yeah but thats my point, it isn't like malaria where the different stages are carried by different hosts, for an elf to be born, you need to remove the human being born.. And as we know, species aren't as logical as their initial "plan" was, so ofcourse the dryads would breed themselves to extinction.. So would I come to think of it
>>
>>43406202
True, it could bring the number of actual human births down, but many things could make this a "balance of nature" thing - if we imagine that it isnt every human male that is infected and that the infection isnt 100% certain everytime there's intercourse, humans being more slutty would sav them from extinction.
Or, the human females could've developed a sense of whether a man was infected or not. Subtle things in hs behaviour, physique or whatevs. A human female who could pick out the infected males in the village would have a larger fitness than the other women, thus producing more human kids (and no elven) who in turn would inherit her ability.
>>
>>43406198
So you're saying we shouldn't disenfranchise non-mammalian hermaphrodites and androgynoids?
>>
>>43405802
>>43405892
But the main reason plants rely on the bee as an intermediary in their reproductive cycle is because plants are immobile.

If we're saying that a dryad gets her pollen all over a human when he's fucking her, which he then transfers to the next dryad he gives the dick to, one has to wonder why the dryads don't just fuck each other.

>>
>>43406325
They can't leave their host trees of course. Maybe they are actually physically linked to them by some kind of stalk. Dryads would be basically a really highly specialised, articulated flower.
>>
>>43406325
The life-cycle symtiotic relationship thing could've been evovled first, and mobility secondly? Like if the orchid in OP's picture evolved legs of some kind

What if only a "dryad-spermcell" can infect only one sperm producing cell, till it dies a natural way it produces dryad spermiums. After this the body repair itself and the human produces human spermiums.
If the human dont constantly fuck a dryad, he will produce some human again.
Maybe if infected with dryad sperm cell, the male is eagerly to fuck and maybe more attractive, via changed pheromons.

1. think it depends on which dyad we talk. A tree nymph ot dyad could be an inmobile tree race.

2. maybe its a fetish for them or its the ancient way, a religious way? Like their religion tells them this was the way their race did it since first creation. So its only straight to use a human host. Doing it directly is just gay.

3. maybe the dryads are mostly female in form. And doing it directly by rubbing, it doesnt work well enough. To get pregnant human = 100%. By rubbing together 50%.

Self-pollination due to reliance on a species of solitary bee that is near extinct in some areas.

Self-pollination is the last ditch effort of a species to cling to existence. Every generation of self-pollinated flower is weaker than the last and the extinction of the species has become an inevitability.

There's a sci Fi setting where this is a thing. Whenever two members of a species fight, the loser ends up wounded and infected by the DNA of the winner. When humans arrive, they are attacked by the species, and pregnant females are wounded and left alive. A few months later they give birth to a hybrid. It's called a "kekoo" virus, tricking the mother into taking care of young not quite that of their own species. And presumably the hybrids can pass on the virus.

Some are full tree race. Others are limited by the tree which is their main bodypart.

Bees actually do eat small amounts of fungus. They have even been observed to farm it in their hives. They take the fungus with them when establishing new colonies. It's a food supplement for them when flowers are hard to find.

As for the danger side of it, people like Monsanto and the wider pesticides industry really don't give a flying fuck. Last time a link was made between collapsing colonies syndrome and over use of pesticides the Monsanto company bought up the leading research group and..... WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT!..... they discovered that they were actually wrong all along and that there was no link at all.

maybe they are some evolved reptiles. Like pidgeons, flammingos and emperor penguins evolved a milk they produce in their throat.
Or just very primitive reptile mammal ancestors? Maybe they evolved from mammallike reptiles?

But to be honest, if they are reptiles, i would prefer that they evolved some mating things like breast, but without feeding. Like we humans would should have nipples in the belly region like most animals, but thx to a evolution process got breasts.
>>
>>43406244
But what if elven children are to their parents much more desirable? So that a human child is not preferred, but still a must for the continuation of the species
>>
>>43407375
That's the thing, it doesn't need 100% control, just to be a small peristant thought.

That makes total sense. Human breasts don't need to be so goddamn big and perky to still produce milk, just look at floppy tits of chimps. They are here for sexual display.
>>
>>43407508
Maybe it's part of growing up? All Dryads start out as bipedal, mobile little creatures, kinda like fey, but when they mature, they have to root to become fertile, hence needing human help, and then in old age they will grow to wise old trees, like grandmother willow

well from a biological/evolutionary viewpoint the answer is this: If an elven child is more desirable i.e. have a higher fitness than the human child, the humans will just slowly turn into elves. Is this extinction? Hard to say, I mean, in that scenario humans would evovle into elves rather than die off. Remember, that this is in the "proper" biological world where this whole scenario would take millenia, if not millions of years. "Human" or "cultural" selection (like chinese parents only wanting boys) could, in theory I suppose, lead to an extinction event, but it seems unlikely that it would ever come to that.
One could even imagine the dryad/elf child of the humans could behave like a kekoo's chick and fool the parents into treating it better than its siblings, but still these kinds of parasitic behaviours have a tendency to create a sort of "balance" (though I hate that word in nature) - simply because, as mentioned earlier, if the dryad/elves whatever HAD to go through the human to successfully reproduce, it would be their own downfall if they "outbred" humanity to extinction
>>
>>43408956
Then the real question is whether the elves can reproduce without us, or if they are sterile/ can just reproduce with dryads...
>>
>>43406696

>>
>>43409022
If they can, we're fucked. Many parasites however are completely dependent on the survival of the host - atleast the "end"/reproductive host
>>
>>43409087
yaay, symbiosis... Maybe the elvs are just a byproduct of the true means, dryads mating, and so are infertile, but live 100s of years, so are still very beneficial to the parents
>>

Fae don't actually live in the woods. The woods are actually fae at various stages of life crowding together for protection.

Fae start life as tiny insect like creatures, traditional faeries, and are the most common fae observed, while still being recognizable, by humans. They don't understand the dangers of contact with other creatures and are curious and playful. They have wings to travel away from their parent trees much like the seeds of some trees species.

Young fae have lost their wings. They are more cautious at this stage, rarely seen. They dance and play in the deep woods. Traditional fae-elf or Dryad like creatures.

Young adult fae are spriggan like creatures. Their skin has become hard and wood-like by this stage. They are aggressive towards outsiders and defensive of their home. People who damage the trees are hunted.

Adults have become slower and bulkier by this stage of their development. Tree-like hulks and the traditional ent.

The oldest fae make up the bulk of their population. Humans, unless they understand where they are looking at, will not recognize them as fae. Every tree in the fae woods is a fae that has taken root. With every passing year they grow quieter until they are effectively in a living-death state. Though technically immortal most fae will die from falling, due to weather damage or disease, but will be reabsorbed by the roots of their kin and allegedly reborn as a fae podling.

Something like that, I don't know.

There are no male fae. Fae are effectively clones of their parent tree without cross pollination. You can either go for:

1: animals/birds/insects pollinate the fae by drinking from the flowers that grow on adult trees/ent/spriggans. This is the PG version that would be used in games.

2:Humans pollinate the fae by drinking from the.... uh..... flowers of Dryads and Spriggans. That is to say that during a journey through my magical realm you're going to find yourself pinned down once to cover you in 'pollen', then chased and corralled deeper into the fae woods, then pinned down a second time. Then probably killed and/or chased around and driven into different areas of the woods until you die of exhaustion. This is the version that gets you banned from DMing and starts all of those rumours.
>>
>>43409570
But there has to be a male fae... or a male plant
>>
>>43409591
Yeah I dropped the ball there. I guess they would be sexually plant like. Neither male or female by human standards. It's all about getting the pollen from one plant/fae to another.
>>
>>43409682
Noo, not by human standards, both may sexually look like human females, so that human males will want to reproduce with them, and carry the spores of one to the other, and ofcourse the receiving plant should only want to "mate" with a human thats already been infested with the male dryad seed

What about an extra stage in a life cycle, or different patterns, like dryad possibly getting different genders from different mixes-something like male always leading to male if introduced into anything but a dryad, for example, and needing a chromosome only the dryad carries to produce more females. Could also spawn after growing inside someone for their lifespan, something like using them to protect the infant stages or nurture the fertilized seed so, after host death, it grows a tree where they died.
>>
>>43408293

Well just because they don't have to be doesn't mean they shouldn't be.
>>
I hate it when people complain about things that were never said, shared by people who don't exist, from games that were never run. This is /b/ level. It's stupid.

What if the dryad is not there to "receive" anything, but rather to infect the human male?

>Dryads are parasites with a multi-stage life cycle
>In a tree, it produces the woman-shaped body typically known as a dryad
>Human males fuck the dryad, get infected with the parasite
>Human males fuck human females, transmitting the parasite to them
>The differing hormonal environment of the human woman's body allows the parasite to transition to the next stage of its life cycle, in which it can produce spores
>Infected women unknowingly shed dryad spores, which infect nearby trees, spreading the dryad to new areas

Or for a more convoluted life cycle, you could have the parasite transmitted from an infected woman to her children, altering their development to produce changelings (in the traditional sense of a faerie child replacing the normal human offspring, not the doppelganger-lite shapeshifter you have in D&D), needing to influence the host's development from birth in order to produce spores.
>>
>>43411862
That's pretty cool but begs the question of why it doesn't try to fuck the human females, since nothing happens in the male carrier
>>
>>43405967
That's a crapton of symbiotes in the world.
They're inside your body in the literal millions, we just no longer consider them symbiotes as we've long evolved to just support them all the time.
Little bugs in your eye lashes keeping that shit under control, a ton of bacteria that are relatively recent evolutionary speaking in our digestive systems making that work.
>>
>>43411995
Maybe it's not just the female hormonal environment that allows for sporing, but the sequential exposure to male and female hormones. It needs the male environment first, then the female.

Or maybe it's just a weird fluke of evolution. Natural selection is not strictly rational or optimally engineered, weird stuff pops up all the time.

Exactly anon. I had a father which produced and sold those, he would spend hours making those mixes. Later his pals would try to guess which species was mixed with which.

If I remember well, the number of hybrid orchid species already outnumbers the natural ones about 3-1.

Because of that background, I had a brainstorming somewhat like what's happening here. I wanted to make orchid-like dryads become the female gender of ents, including the propensity of orchids to be epiphytes.

It would be more efficient and widepsread is the dryads and their seed is adapted to both genders.
Additionally, the seed may not necessary be spent in one shot.
So the seed could adapt to being planted into a female carrier, for example growing on the vaginal walls, until a dryad with a penis-shaped organ (but still actually a female seed-gatherer) detaches it from the walls and absorbs.
also yes we are getting into seahorse territory here
>vagina having dryad expels seeds and is thus male
>penis having dryad gathers seeds and is thus female
Although, they both also hermaphroditic and both organs function as both

There's a species of tree (Acacia cornigera) that hires ants (Pseudomyrmex ferruginea) as mercenaries to protect it from herbivores and leaf-cutting ant species. These ants release a repugnant pheromone and viciously attack anyone who gets near the tree. In exchange they live in its hollowed-out thorn system, being given generous amounts of nectar to live off.

There's also a species of ant (Sericomyrmex) that hires another species of ant (Megalomyrmex) as mercenaries to protect them, as the first species is of a kind that is ineffective at combat but effective at harvesting, and the second kind the reverse. When other ant species invade the colony of weak Sericomyrmex ants, the hired Megalomyrmex will charge into battle despite not actually being a part of the Sericomyrmex colony. In return, the Megalomyrmex's presence is permitted (ants usually hate ants of different species) and they are allowed to eat from the Sericomyrmex's fungus farms.
