I don't have any pictures, but one of the first times we played D&D, we screwed up calculating the weight of the drow player. Being British teens, we didn't really have a grasp on lbs. as a weight system. That drow was a 400lb. motherfucking rogue. Looking back on it, that's hilarious.

If you're seriously fat in a fantasy setting, you either have a cushy job, or you're well off enough that you don't have to spend your time risking life and limb on stupid adventures.

Thick-set and heavy-built player characters are obviously all right, but seriously overweight adventurers just seems stupid.

They went for an adventure via a portal in somebody's office in Last Continent, I think.

They fought a Mall in Reaper Man

Ridcully is his own special case, but he's still a big man.

The Wizards do stuff in other books, but these are the ones I can recall doing the most traditional "adventurer" stuff.

The most "fireball, fireball, fireball" wizard in the series is the Dean. His nickname is "two chairs"
>>
>>34131628

yeah, but that's not really an adventure, as such. It kind of came to them.

For a Discworld wizard to reach the rotund state, they've usually been sedentary for decades.

Mostly they know better than to do shit, and sit around cranking out magic shit to play with. They make the special locks and technomancy imps.
One student was hired by a criminal gang for a run on the tooth fairy's castle to hack through the magic protections around one of the doors, and I recall the watch discuss the possibility of a gang having got a wizard to help them in turf wars being a possibility.
When Weatherwax first entered UU, she got into a hardcore wizard duel with the Archchancellor, shape shifting style that seriously started to weaken the walls between worlds.
And then there was the whole sourcery... thing. And the krulls. But aside from their hydrophobes giant floating disc dudes, not sure what they can do.

If Discworld wizards really want to, they can summon death, teleport across continents, fold space and fireball shit they dont like. But that's tiring and messy. Easier to just flip a switch in someone's head to make them a frog.
>>
>>34131950

>>
>>34131886
They went into a sentient building and blew it up.

And pre-Ridcully they got into all sorts of assassination, poisoning and trap finding/laying shenanigans.

Discworld wizards may look like fat lazy old men (because they are), but they have minds like razors and can seriously fuck you up.

Liking healthily thick women is a preference. If you actually prefer fat, as in unhealthily fat, girls, then, well, it's still a preference but it's not exactly a mentally healthy one. Same with people who like disgustingly skinny girls. Each to their own, but don't try defending it saying it's normal like tome tumblrite.

Hm, I guess. It's also hard to define where exactly to draw the line between just chubby and actually fat. It can vary from person to person and some have other optimal body weight standards than others. You can be chubby and healthy or 'normal' and unhealthy. Though it's hard to be healthy if you're like this >>34130856
>>
>>34130347
>overweight characters

That doesn't make any sense. Are you playing as a bunch of characters who play an MMORPG? There's no other way a fat character would have enough energy, willpower, or drive to lug their gigantic body around instead of lazing about eating food.

Well...You could do some kind of WoD campaign about fat people in mobility scooters running into trouble at grocery stores.

Not bad, but from a technical POV he can't hold a candle to Lockwood or Franzetta imo.

Lockwood is just amazing from a technical standpoint. You can genuinely compare him to the old masters, he's that good imo.

Or like... you know... magic or just fantasy supernatural stuff.

A gravity warrior would pretty much be able to just ignore the weight. This way they can even fight in an agile way, dancing around the battlefield.
If a barbarian can lift two elephants and carry them around, he can pretty much go around with his own massive weight.
A fat wizard can go around warping reality while flying.

You know, this thread has actually made me a little ashamed of myself. I have very few character portraits of overweight people. And the ones that that I do have portray them in an especially grotesque fashion. The only fat most of the characters in my portraits have is in the ass or breast region. Perhaps I have unrealistic standards for beauty? I have the sudden urge to SJW on Tumblr. I can't help but wonder if that is what OP wanted all along.

Ridcully sent wizards on missions in case of emergencies (like when they manipulated Roundworld to make sure Darwin wrote his book, and with the rock music), and they got sucked into adventures more than once (the elves at Lancre, the football, the Mall, the moving pictures, the elves in Roundworld, etc)

But it's true that their usual state is lazying around, or lost in a new project (for the younger kind). But that just mean they only move for the big stuffs.

Well, it is overweight. Not obese, but absolutely, bmi above 25, overweight. And don't give me this nonsense about bmi being inaccurate if the person's a bodybuilder or similar. They aren't a ripped muscle person with 5% body fat here. We've reached that point where overweight is "a little chubby", obese is "kinda fat and only people above 300lbs are considered full blown fatties.

Rant over, these are some excellent pieces of fat character artwork.

Like the most mentioned pic here >>34132381
sure she might be "overweight" on the BMI scale, but the word "overweight" is usually a negative word in common use indicating unhealthy levels of overweight, whereas on the picture in question her hip-waist ratio and general body status indicates healthiness. Though when it comes to cases like >>34131950 or >>34132238 it's pretty clear we're in a territory of unhealthy amounts of fat.
tl;dr: BMI is retarded, anyone who knows anything about the body will tell you so.

This is the greatest Detective character ever.

OK, let me lay it out for you.
There's this guy, he grows up in the Balkans. War comes, and he gets drafted into the Austrian Army. The war, of course, is awful. He survives the war, but the peace isn't any better. He's still starving. He looks after an orphan who's starving. Once he's certain she'll survive, and have a family, he's done with this. He is so done.

He goes to America, land of opportunity. He finds his opportunities and he takes them. But he doesn't care about money, or success or power. He does like money, and does pretty well, but what he only wants what it can give him. And that's comfort.

That's all he wants. He has an apartment, he has a chef, he has an orchard garden. And if he was able, he'd do nothing but attend to his orchard, eat food, and read fine books all day.

But life doesn't work that way. He's gotta get paid. So he does what he needs to. And what he's damn good at is being a private investigator.

He never leaves the comfort of his apartment, if he can help it. And he usually can. He's the head of a private investigation team you see. He wants to talk to someone, he sends out one of his employees, usually Archie Goodwin. If somebody has something important to tell him directly, they come to him directly.

He doesn't do the Sherlock Holmes helping the police thing either. He's in this for the money, and most the time he's solving a mystery that simpler men would have solved, but might uncover compromising information in doing so. Or sometimes, because he just fucking hates the police.

Speaking of ways he's better then Sherlock Holmes, he doesn't do this pulling a conclusion out of his ass based on some lose evidence and being proven right thing. He starts from the probables and works his way out. Someone got murdered? Who were they fucking? Who owed them money?
>>
>>34133576
I know what my next character is gonna be....
>>
>>341
He's got an ego even bigger then he is, but it's not from being the worlds greatest detective. He doesn't really care.

But that lack of caring is what keeps pulling him back in. He will just coast through life, and when the time comes he'll put in the minimal effort to get back to what he wants to do.

And you might think he's soft because of this. I mean, the man acts like a giant baby sometimes. He will have a shouting contest of the EXACT number of berries that will go in his tart.

But he's not soft. In a lot of ways, he's the prototypical Noir Detective: He's given up on everything except for what's important. Except rather then women and your masculinity, he realizes it's a good beer and a book on an afternoon, and principles.

He's not an ethical crusader, he has a professionally calloused attitude towards murderers. But if you do something that offends him, that is really gets him at a personal level, he will bring down hell on you.

You lie to his face, you treat him like a simpleton, you abuse your power and authority, you do something to make you stand out from the pack of murderers, and he will get Mad. And getting properly mad and people who are wrong is one of those essential luxuries he lives by. Alongside his beer, and his books and his comfortable house, nay, ahead of all those things, is the simple luxury to say something is "flummery" and speak the truth.

He's Nero Wolfe.

Fat is actually an important catalyst in developing muscles, and acts as a cushion against blunt and slashing damage that would otherwise tear into your muscles and organs. Being slightly overweight or rounded isn't too bad for an adventurer, considering some of the strongest power lifters are almost ball-shaped.
>>
>>34143002
More like partly leader skill monkey. The other PCs made characters with good athletics, good combat stats, maybe one or two social skills.

He's just got social, investigative and knowledge skills out the wazoo. He stays in his nice safe stronghold, gives the party instructions and directions and let's them do their thing, and then brings it together and plans how they're going to bring down the BBEG.

>>
>>34140946
You know, since this is basically a party member of mine, it's story time.

This is Fantasycraft, so Drake is the base race, and here's the story.

This Dragon, was born a malformed runt. It was tiny, and it's wings were to weak to even support that. The only reason it managed to survive getting eaten by it's siblings was, being smaller, it was able to hide in the deepest parts of the swamp where it was born.

This started two trends in this dragon's life: First a incredible napoleon complex. Most people look at it and see a fucking Dragon, but she's always worried about being thought of as a runty dragon. This goes kind of well with the attachment to the concept of predator and prey being very important. Those that are successful in life do the eating. Those that aren't get eaten.

Second, while most Dragons are intelligent, they don't rely on that. They rely on being powerful, majestic creatures. She actually had to live by her wits.

Some of her earliest efforts were by trading knowledge with the local swamp farmers for food and such. She'd point them towards stocks of fish or peat, warn them about bandits, that sort of thing. The sort of thing most Dragons would find demeaning, but she was just happy to be surviving.

Eventually, this sort of behavior got her into a role as a psuedo-familiar to a senile, retired wizard. That Wizard would mistake her old Iguana familiar, and that's how she got her name: Pitch.

The Wizard provided a great opportunity for her to grow safely, and learn many things. She learned to read. She learned the theory of magic, and of the planes and of the gods.

The Wizard didn't adventure, or even work, or even pursue much in the way of studies. He was very happy just for the company of someone to talk to, and was happy to answer endless questions.

She even managed to learn a few spells with her time there.

In the course of these, Pitch learned about the Chaoskampf, the primal struggle against the Dragon that would devour everything and return it to a state of chaos. Pitch thought, for some reason, that the Dragon in the story was obviously her.

Eventually, age overtook the wizard, and Pitch was alone again. She tried doing the "proper" dragon thing, kidnapping princesses, hoarding gold. But there was two problems: she didn't like gold all that much, and she wasn't much of a threat to pull of the powerful, mighty dragon act.

But she still had her wits, and she still knew how to work people, and she was TECHNICALLY a dragon. So she set herself up as the shaman of a local Lizardfolk tribe. And being practically immortal, eventually as their goddess. A few generations of work, and Lizardfolk couldn't remember the time their tribe didn't worship a dragon the size of a horse.

But, centuries of labor can be wiped out in an instant when adventurers come knocking. And she didn't miss a beat when she found out all her underlings had been killed handily by a lone warrior.

She knew not to challenge such a superior opponent, and instead smelled opportunity here. So she cooperated with, and joined that warrior.

They became a riding duo, with Pitch being the mount, and built up a modest amount of fame, and fortune, boosted by the novelty of a warrior riding a dragon.

But, Pitch is always looking for new opportunities to advance herself and her power. She's parlayed fawning nobility who love the idea of a heroic dragon and numerous favors in a metropolitan center for the high and mighty to offer a unique deal to them.

She's going to deal with their Lizardfolk problem. The poor, impoverished, often violent lizardfolk squat in flooded ruins and the sewage system of the city.
>>
>>34145651
And she has now convinced the city officials that she alone can keep the Lizardfolk from starting a major rebellion. They accept her as the voice of God, and she tells them to respect the city authorities, and the city authorities back up the idea that she's the voice of god (at least for lizardfolk).

On the other hand, she's got the Lizardfolk legitimately under her thumb now. In secret, in private she talks about the destruction of the surface world, of the humans and elves. In parables, in apocalyptic terms, but the message is clear.

And is it true? It doesn't really matter. The party is getting it's hand on power in other ways, positioning themselves for a takeover, if they need to. And if they don't they'll just keep using the city for their own ends.

But if the takeover comes, it doesn't matter what side the lizardfolk are on. Either they'll obey the avatar of their goddess, or they won't, and she'll be able to offer the trouble makers up to the city on a silver platter.

Yeah, she's gotten really damn fat sitting around, playing diplomancer and spending the loot on meat. But what does that matter? She diplomances all the same. She's like a draconic Kim Il-Sung, building her personality cult and playing the factions against each other.

And the kicker to all of this? She's finally in a position where she can engage a plan to have all her siblings killed. And then she's going to eat them, in an act of revenge 6 centuries in the planning.

He is and interesting character concept as he is an example of a character with lots of "disadvantages" or "flaws" (large, unfit, really rather posh, quite OCD in many ways and a general grump really) but is brilliant and very mentally capable.

Meanwhile the guy who works for him, Archie, is good looking, charismatic, athletic, can shoot, and has good perception and ability to report back to Wolfe.

It is an good example of two really different, interesting characters that work well together.

Sorry, what were we talking about again?
