"That would be most excellent. You see, we're a bit of a stubborn folk, you might say. We don't believe anything until we see it with our own eyes. We always make sure for ourselves, you see. So when you tell this court of your dwarven lands well, there isn't a single one of us that isn't fighting the urge to run off North right now and catch a glimpse. We'll trade for anything and everything you can offer, too. All kinds of experiences to be had, there. It's just how we live our lives. We want to taste every kind of food, see every kind of land, and nothing stops us. But enough about us. We are dying to know about you. Please, tell us."

''The best way to learn of my peoples, as you pointed out, is to see them for yourself. But I can tell you a little. We are a proud, boisterous people, industrious too, and we honour our ancestors and nature for they have brought us to where we are today. You will find there is a place at the hearth for those whom deal well with us but for those whom would wrong us there will be little mercy. If you wish to know more, I would suggest you send some people to our Winter Festival that they may write of it. There we will speak our histories, with a talker from each clan offering stories of the Ancestors, and we will feast.''

"Our tale is one of a common dream.

We are a people banded together not under any political banner but under the banner of rationale and progress.

Men, dwarves, even elves, halflings and orcs of many creeds have come together to establish this East Venicia Company that we might combine the best and brightest minds to furthering the cause of intelligent society.

We are a people hungry for knowledge and are willing to go to the ends of the earth to meet other peoples, to learn from them and teach when we can as well."

"Our company is ruled by the Board of Directors, but Giácomo Medici is our current Chief Executive Officer. His position was elected via the board, to act as chief decision maker, and carry out the boards mandates.

A trader and man of business previously he was elected for his meritorious history and was found most suitable to the position to manage the company on behalf of the Board, and he represents the spirit of our people to adhere in honesty and faithfulness in all dealings and contracts.

If there is one thing Venicia values highest of all, it's our contractual word. Debts are paid, and deals are carried to the limits of possibility. You can always rely on Venicia to stay true to our documents and deals."

"We have one major idea at the moment.

Our scouts have reported that somewhere near our lands are at least two other kingdoms, although the envoys have not yet returned and we can only guess their location.

Alas, we do not have a local map so all we can suffice with is a crude one, but it serves its purpose well enough.

We believe that Venicia is in a prime location to unite in diplomatic contact and understanding it's neighbor states, and act as a facilitator of trade.

Our main goal is to establish ourselves the naval resource and capability to conduct this, and we are most interested in your construction prowess to help, perhaps by building ports, docks, depots, and be paid for your services of course."

We are not a military inclined people and are not very enthused to the idea of being dragged into a war.

However we do value the importance of friendship and mutual protection and will join such an alliance, and provide in what means we can via supplies and logistics.

If your are a peoples are inclined to help defend those that cannot defend themselves, and to wrong no one that has not wronged you, then we would be more than happy to come to a defense agreement. Provided we are able to work together on proper documents."

Ah, you have a rare and exotic fruit, we are intrested in that.

We are however, most interested in your ability at seamanship, and would like to ask for your occasional assistance in developing superior naval trading vessels.

The ambassador considers. "Wish I could answer yes to that, but I haven't seen the latest maps myself yet. But you certainly seem a fine potential partner for future business. Perhaps for arranging a pact of mutual defense, too; I'm no one for bein' dragged into anythin' overtly aggressive at an ally's whim without them fully explainin' the cause, but I'm thinking anything in a position to threaten one of us would threaten the other of us quite rapidly. But, early days yet; and our acquaintance is new. Perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself. I'm sure we can agree to open markets to each other, at the very least?"

>5. Vassels
___________________________

Vassels: There will come a time when a nation is destroyed or where there simply isn’t enough room for a new player. This is where the Vassel system comes into play. A vassel is a player who can be given a number of provinces(hexes/squares) in an existing nation. Courtiers start play with the stats of their parent nation. He gains a 2d100 roll to develop his province along the lines he sees fit but otherwise plays like any other nation. The key difference is that a courtier has no independence, and must do what his nation demands of him
>NOTE: A Vassel cannot declare their own wars
>NOTE: A Newly conquered nation that becomes a vassel cannot attempt to overthrow their new liege lord for 5 turns.

So, a nation wanting you as a vassal would have to give up hexes and resources of their own state to make into your vassal state.

Though it might be easier to hang around for a bit and see if there's any early droppers among current nations who who can move in on and take over.
>>
>>44251167
[You forgot your trip bro]
''I thank you for your hospitality. He is a man of honour, having been a leader of men before taking his position and having taken it through an honourable duel. If you wish to trade, you will find he will honour agreements unless it is impossible to do so and he will make reparations when he cannot. Our lands are rocky and hard but hard won and prized for their resources. We dwell in our ancestral homelands and we are proud of this. And what of your peoples and lands?''
>>
>>44251313
Malacai nods."Strong people are needed to tame the lands you have made your own and an even stronger leader. Strength too is what our faith demands of us, as well as greatness wisdom and honor. Our people seek the ways Sulis teaches and guides us too, with every action we strive to become a paragon of his virtues.
Thus it has been in our lands for centuries and Sulis has been kind to us. Milk, meat, bread and fruits you will find in our lands a plenty, our people flourish under divine guidance.
Our ways and beliefs might differ, but I believe our shared honor can lead us to a common goal."
>>
>>44251831
''Indeed so. And trade will benefit us both in the long term I feel. Have you the means to trade? We as yet lack a trading post in our lands, though we intend as such shortly. Your wealth of foods and such would make for great trade goods and we have great quarries and mines, the produce of which I think you would find agreeable.''
>>
>>44251912
"I agree both of our nations lack resources we possess respectively. If Sulis is kind we will have finished our trading post before the next spring."
>>
>>44252278
''Excellent. I am sure my lord Oghren will be pleased with this. Perhaps in the future our relationship may yet develop.''

>>
>>44253476
A quick paper is drawn up, and shown to the king of the dwarves.

-- THIS THE TREATY BETWEEN THE HONORABLE EAST VENICIAN TRADING COMPANY WITH THE DORVEN KINGDOMS –

Clause of Mutual Defense

In the event that either/or the states of the East Venician Trading Company or the Dorven Kingdoms where separately or collectively attacked by a hostile power, or threatened with violence by a hostile power, or otherwise acted upon in a detrimental and disruptive manner, both states pledge a mutual defensive pact to immediately come to the aid of the other in the purview of military or industrial support as far as is possible by either state, such as but not limited to the sending of allied armies, supplies, or transportation aid.

Clause of Treatsie Entanglements

In order to prevent the conflicting entanglements of different mutual defensive pacts or other such treaties, such as in the case of one member of a pact attacking another member of a pact, or through third proxxy create a similar conflict by attacking another nation to whom also has a different defensive pact with, the following agreements are to be adhered to by both signatory states:

1. Any additional defensive pacts signed by either/or the East Venician Trading Company or the Dorven Kingdom to a third party are to be respected. Neither state is to attack a fellow nation with such a third party defensive contract.

>con't
>>
>>44253739
2. Full and fair warning can and should be given to any signatory power that either/or of the aforementioned states are seeking another defensive pact, alliance, or obligation contract which could potentially result in hostility. Signatories are capable of reviewing said future contract proposals to review and then choose at their discretion whether or not they wish to assent and honor them. Such that we can avoid situations where a signatory state signs a pact with a hostile power or previously hostile power which has conducted a great wrong.

3. Violations of the contract do not constitute immediate or retroactive dissmissal, nor do violations of third party contracts. Whenever a breech or potential breech is to be complained of, those signatory powers will gather in a neutral grounds to discuss and rectify as far as possible, ensuring with every ability that the nation in breech returns to a state of compliance with the contract.

4. When it is found that a a signatory willingly engages in aggressive, disruptive, or dishonorable against the spirit and/or letter of said contract, unrepentant and unwilling to return to compliance, it will be deemed void.

---

"If anything in this paper does not seem right or fair to your Majesty, we humbly ask you tell us of an egregious or erroneous wording has been spoken.

We shall also inform your Majesty that our envoys are likely seeking a defensive pact with another close neighbor, and will respectively inform you as thus before you so graciously decide to sign. I believe they are called: 'Gloiningen'"
>>
>>44253770
>4. When it is found that a a signatory willingly engages in aggressive, disruptive, or dishonorable against the spirit and/or letter of said contract, unrepentant and unwilling to return to compliance, it will be deemed void.

"Admittedly. . .even we can see potential errors in our own writing.

I believe, this most importantly is a major error"

ADDENDUM:
4. When it is found that a a signatory willingly engages in aggressive, disruptive, or dishonorable against the spirit and/or letter of said contract, unrepentant and unwilling to return to compliance, it's status in this defensive treaty will be deemed void.
>>
>>44253770
''This seems amenable. We will do all we can to avoid breaching said contract, with the addendum you have mentioned. However, I should like to add a clause, if I may. I believe our term for this allowance is ''Force Majeure''. It states that allowances should be made in cases of utmost need. For example, if one of us is to suffer extreme detriment due to the action of an ally of the other, actions against said individual shall be considered acceptable provided they are within reason. And I can tell you now, as you are to be the first ally of my administration, you will be given precedence where applicable.''
>>
>>44253953
"This is acceptable. We do not wish to see our treaty be used to hide or protect a nation that willingly engages in a dirrectly detrimental manner, but again remind that clause #3 enables and requires that in such extenuating circumstances diplomacy will be used to the end of its ability, before actions are taken."
>>
>>44254269
''Of course. We are not unreasonable, after all. We simply do not assume that everyone else is reasonable. Prepare a final write up then and I will gladly sign it.''

[Im gonna save a copy, Id suggest you do too. You can do a final write up with the Force Majeure clause if ya like but it isn't vital. Be nice for fluff though]
>>
>>44254335
[Yeah, I'm also going to be proposing a parallel treaty to Gloingen. I may even ask that your diplomats meet at some point.

When both of you say yes, or if it turns out Gloingen doesn't want one, we can sign it official in fluff]
>>
>>44254461
[Cool. Ill hold off on saving a version then in case it needs to be amended or something.]
>>
Boy, I wish someone would invent some sort of Internet Chat Relay so me and my bros could discuss what is going on in our game. It would be really cool if it had multiple channels so we could even have private conversations.
>>
>>44254494
Please try to remove your head from your anus before posting again. Might help you be more clear.
>>
It isn't that hard to create an IRC room for this for the purpose of PM's or small chat, I could create one right now event.

There is an older nation-building channel, though GK isn't an explicit part of that community and the games there are kinda full and most aren't on /tg/ right now

Having public official fluff conversations in the general thread is great. It provides a means for someone to fluff and for people to get an idea of their nations and for it to be seen by others. Generally encourages better fluff too. You see less of it when people just make deals in the IRC.
>>
>>44254624
[Aye. And besides, its another way for people to get into the game if they're interested.]

[Id say something about some quest threads, the ones not /tg/ related but I am literally using this to test how a Dwarven nation might go for the benefit of my DMing and its fantasy centric.]
