I was reading thread related on /m/ (https://boards.4chan.org/m/thread/13599023) and I was thinking, how would /tg/ make their dream mecha game. Anything is fair game.

Well, the first and most important part is deciding if the game is either Real (Gundam, VOTOMS) or Super (Mazinger-Z, Getter, GaoGaiGar, Gurren Lagann), and make sure your players know which genre it is. I wanted to have a Super Robot game and I ended up with one player using a power armor.
Don't be afraid to homebrew weapons and abilities. Also, I recommend using Battle Century G. It's not hard to get into, pretty simple and building a mech is easy.
If you want to run a 80's style show, don't be afraid to run tropes completely straight instead of making subversions. For mecha, trying to subvert will more often than not make it worse when all a player want is play in a heroic game.

It does, though you'd have to limit what players can use, since some weapons and abilities are clearly made with Super in mind.
Alright so like Spec Ops The Line, but with mercenaries, in the 90s, with mechs and they're fighting in the Yugoslavian Wars. Either that or Operation Desert Freedom. Gonna use Battle Century G. Going for Real Robot game.

A 40k battle simulator that would allow you to choose the battlefield, battlefield conditions(rain, snow, muddy ground), factions, force composition(50 tactical marines and a dreadnought etc), state of the participants(attacking/defending or if they are dug in or not) and so on.

More like the general story and theme. A bunch of guys go do a bunch of stuff that they weren't prepared to do and reality ensues. Although I don't think that my players would fall for the obvious war crime bait.
