Become The Vampire Quest 11

You sit around at the bus stop trying to piece together a rough plan for the afternoon and evening. A quick trip into town to go shopping with Sammy is on the agenda, followed by a quick break to get changed, though more likely by being picked up by Blake and taken to the party. It'll be wild and crazy, but when the full moon is at its highest you'll need to find a safe place to light your black candle, spill your blood into a cup and chant from your spell book so that you can summon the demon that will give you your first taste of real magic. Everything else is a perk. You just wish you knew what sort of demon you were summoning. If you had more time alone with your book you could try to figure that out.

Sammy arrives just in time to disrupt your train of thought, wearing short shorts, a tank top and a loose jacket. Her hair is down and she's wearing a baseball cap, fussing a little bit with the hat to get it to sit properly. You try not to stare at her legs or her chest. An effort is made. Sammy doesn't seem to notice though, and you manage to tear your gaze away before things get awkward. As if you need more reasons for Sammy to feel embarrassed around you.

“Hey there. I guess you're changing things up a bit then?”

Sammy smiles brightly at you.

“Yep. I can't wear my hair like that all the time, people would get suspicious. Plus I like this hat.”

She leans down a bit to show you the writing across the front. It says “Wild Child”, and she seems pretty pleased with it. She's almost anything but, but at least she's proud of her heritage. Either that or her dad got it for her, which seems likely now that you've met him.

“It's pretty cute on you. And you look good with your hair down.”

Sammy punches your shoulder gently as color rises to her cheeks and she chuckles.

“Flattery will get you everywhere. Well, not everywhere, but... You get the picture. I like it when you compliment me...”
>>
You rise to your feet and adjust your bag.

“You're always making me look under dressed though. When we met up yesterday you were all decked out for it, and today you got dressed up for me while I'm still in my uniform.”

Sammy nods and shrugs.

“I felt like it. And we're getting you some new clothes in town anyway, so it's not like you'll be wearing that for long. We'll get you equally fancy.”

You reach into your pocket and toy with the two golden coins, debating whether or not to hit up the Bizarre again or just get normal clothes. You could afford normal attire and not risk being the only human in the Bizarre for the second day in a row, but you can't spend too much before you have to start considering... alternate methods of income.

>Rules
Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.

Most Important Rule:
Have fun.

>Let's head to the fashion district and have a look around, I wanna look good tonight.
>Let's see if there's a thrift shop or something, I don't need anything too fancy.
>Have you heard of the Bizarre? I went there yesterday for clothes, and I wanna go again.

We're not out to impress them, we're out to make Sammy proud to be seen with us, among other things. She's our in to werewolf allies, so not embarrassing her is important, completely aside from the whole "she's ours" thing.
>>
>>44009627
There's nothing to refute.
>>
>>44009655
We're spending money we set aside for good reason in order to try and impress people we're very likely not going to impress with clothes. That's stupid. Refute that.

I sincerely doubt us not wearing aberzombie and witch will embarrass her. Our clothes were more than good enough last time.
>>
“Let's hit up the fashion district. I've got some money I can spare, and I want to make sure I look good for tonight. I may as well get some extra stuff while I'm there too, if there's anything I particularly like.”

Sammy pouts a bit.

“I've never actually been to that part of town... It's contested territory. It's not like we'd be in danger or anything, but we'll have to be careful about where we go and try not to wander too far away from the main streets or open areas. Right now the Collins clan and a vampire family are competing for control of the area. I think it's almost confirmed at this point that they're either lust or sloth vampires, under the control of one of the main vampire families.”

You check your bag briefly. The gold coins might not serve much use on this trip, but the book suddenly seems like a bit more of a burden. Still, you're resourceful, and if Mark's family let anything happen to Sammy then that ruins their standing even more. Plus you have the chant mostly memorized by this point anyway, and your phone could probably piece it together for you if you wanted to reveal to it and potentially Meliora that you're learning blood magic. In short, there are options.

The bus arrives and you climb on with Sammy, heading for the back. The ride isn't particularly long, but Sammy seems pretty tired, and she rests her head on your shoulder as you travel. You wonder how late she was up last night, or if this is a side effect of the oncoming full moon, a natural desire to sleep before the coming night of frenzy. You gently jostle her awake and lead her off the bus, holding her hand as you venture into the fashion district, looking at the various buildings.

“Alright, let's see...”

Most of the stores look like they're on the bleeding edge of fashion, with all the styles that the popular people will be wearing next season. You're not after quite that level of style, although some of the outfits would look pretty good on Sammy.
>>
>>44009343
Also, BTQM, we should discuss the video of her fiance with her, and find out if showing it to her dad will have the effect we want. Because it's possible her dad will take it as an indirect insult that we humiliated the guy he had chosen for his daughter. Even if he normally would be reasonable, tonight his anger might get the better of him.

You turn to Sammy and smirk a little. She looks like she needs some caffeine, and for a brief moment you're reminded that you need to get those coffee beans for Angie at some point. It's the wrong part of town for it, but still.

“I don't really know what to get. This is all pretty high-end for me. I don't think I need something quite this fancy, right?”

Sammy nods drowsily.

“You'll probably have to hunt again at some point, and there's probably going to be wrestling competitions and races and stuff... and then the main event... You really only need to be dressed up for the first part of the party, after that you can wear whatever you like.”

With a nod you glance down one of the streets.

“How about we head to a cheaper area and try there then? I can get some decent clothes and then some cheap stuff I don't mind getting torn up.”

Sammy laughs a little and nods, her head sinking a little lower with each bob, and you gently pull her along, trying to suppress a joke about it being that time of the month. You want to save that for when her mom acts like a complete bitch tonight, it'll probably be a hit with the more inebriated werewolves.

“By the by... I have some footage of Mark from this morning. I got a recording of what happened after you left. He transformed and tried to kill me in broad daylight. I was planning on showing it to your dad.”

Sammy perks up immediately, her eyes wide.

“I-I wouldn't recommend that tonight... or talking about it here... His family is trying to control this part of the city, remember? But... At any rate, if you show him tonight, he won't be able to control himself. It'll lead to a big fight, and then when both clans are weakened, the vampires will close in... The balance is really fragile at the moment, everyone is being careful.”

You head around one of the corners and spot a few shops you recognize, ones with brands and not just super-fashionable specialty shops that don't have chains. You're heading in the right direction.
>>
“Got it. I'll hold on to it then. He knows I have the recording though. Mark, that is. I'll keep it safe for the time being. I also don't know if he remembers what happened. One of the school security... golems? I think it was a golem. Anyway, she beat the tar out of him when he transformed. I think she made him forget what happened, too.”

Sammy looks over her shoulder suddenly and clings to your arm.

“Don't look now, but I think we're being followed... I saw something in the shadows...”

In addition, if they get closer, turn and confront them. Nothing upsets an ambush predator more than its prey facing it full on(that's how you deal with tigers)
>>
You continue to maintain the same pace and try to keep up the illusion that you're not in any sort of panic at all. All the horrible possibilities cross your mind one after the other. A vampire stalking you and Sammy, eager for you to wander into a less populated area to strike. A Collins werewolf who overheard you talking about Mark and is waiting for you to be vulnerable enough to confront. Some other sort of monster not directly involved in the territory dispute, sizing you both up as a meal. A simple human mugger you could deal with pretty easily, but it's still a possibility. You slip your hand into your pocket and smile at Sammy.

“If anything goes wrong, I promise I'm not abandoning you if I run away.”

Sammy quirks an eyebrow at that but remains silent. She said that she trusts you, and that seems to be holding true. You pass by a few more shops, heading towards cheaper brand name stores that fall more comfortably in your price range, though there's hardly anyone around. In this town, it seems, only the poor or the unfashionable venture this far out. You hear a single footstep behind you, a careless slip up on the part of your pursuer, and duck into the nearest shop with Sammy.

The store seems to specialize in skater attire, and while you're not much for boarding, it's comfortable for parkour and doesn't limit your movement much at all. As you head further into the shop to start putting together an outfit with Sammy you hear the door open and close, but there's no trace of the person who entered when you look.

Wonderful.

You start sifting through the t-shirts while Sammy checks through the pants and shorts, and you hold one of them up. It has a logo for a skateboard company that you don't really recognize. As you lower it down you see a brief movement out of the corner of your eye, and you pause, looking around. You set the t-shirt down and turn towards Sammy, only to find a girl of maybe thirteen or fourteen between you. She looks at you inquisitively.
>>
“Are you the boy who's stealing Auntie Sammy away from my brother?”

Sammy turns to look at the girl and almost jumps out of her skin in surprise.

“S-Sophie! What are you doing here?”

Her voice is a mix of shock and an attempt at a soft, motherly tone that just makes her come across as more startled than she actually is, and given how she looks ready to panic, that's pretty bad. Sophie keeps her eyes locked on you though, passive and curious. It's really unnerving, and you know it's likely just an act.

>Yep. Sorry about that. I just really like her a lot and couldn't help myself.
>Your brother is a jerk and doesn't deserve her. I'm not apologizing.

He was hurting her, I didn't like that, she didn't like that. Stealing away implies that your brother didn't push her away himself. Sammy is my friend and when someone hurts your friend you stop it. Friends watch each others backs.

You look at Sophie for a moment. She's analyzing you right now, and whatever you say next is going to speak volumes about who you are in her eyes. Fortunately, you know exactly what to say.

“He was hurting her. I wasn't a big fan of that, and neither was she. All I did was help her get out of a bad situation. Sammy is my friend, and when someone hurts your friends, you stop them. We watch out for each other. I'm not saying that your brother is a jerk in general, but when it came to Sammy? He did a lot of stuff that I wasn't a fan of. If you wanna call it stealing, go for it, you're entitled to your opinion on the matter.”

Sophie nods slightly and turns to Sammy, walking up to her and hugging her while Sammy looks like she's trying her best not to pass out from fright.

“You have my blessing.”

She sticks her thumb out, gesturing to you and ignoring the confusion on Sammy's face.

“I'll bite him and make him part of the Collins clan so you can still be my Auntie when he knocks you up and claims you.”

Sophie grins and turns towards you, her canines lengthening slightly. Sammy blushes, still trying to piece together what's taking place. Sophie seems like a pretty dangerous kid, and you really hope you're not about to have to fight a werewolf in broad daylight. You reach for your phone.

You grab the t-shirt you were looking at and walk past Sophie, taking the pants Sammy was looking at and comparing the two.

“This outfit should work pretty well... Yeah, I'll get this.”

You walk past Sophie towards the register and offer her a smile.

“Sorry, but I'm already an honorary member of the Wolfe clan. Plus I'm pretty sure that sort of thing should be my choice, right?”

Sophie hides her fangs and sighs.

“Literally no fun allowed, big bro? Not even a hesitation? A fearful glance? A tremble? Something?”

Sophie follows you to the register, Sammy trailing behind you, and as you put the clothes on the counter and grab your wallet, Sophie latches onto your arm and starts nibbling at your wrist, looking up at you. The cashier does a good job of keeping a straight face as Sophie playfully mauls you until your wrist feels a bit sore, and you just sit there and let her have at it. She pulls away and wipes her mouth, frowning.

“I'll have to try better tactics... Don't go anywhere, I'll be right back.”

She runs out of the shop, and you accept your bag of clothes from the cashier. Sammy moves to your side.

“That's the most emotional I've ever seen her... She's normally so quiet and... fussy. She likes pranks though. I think she just wants you to act scared or surprised, even if you're not. Honestly, I was worried she really was going to pull something bad... Last full moon she shoved someone down a flight of stairs and sat on the top step watching to see who would come help them first... They kinda deserved it, but still..."

If we try to leave her behind, it'll just make her throw a tantrum, and she'd probably be able to track us anyway. Plus, it'd help to have friends in the Collins clan, to undermine Mark should he try to make a move against us through them.
Also, if she's with us, we'll have the protection of her security detail that's undoubtedly looking after her.

“If she wants to see me scared, she can earn it. I'm not that easily spooked.”

You head for the door with Sammy and adjust your shopping bag, slipping your new clothes into your book bag for convenience and to better conceal your hemomancy tome. Sammy looks around a bit as you step outside.

“I don't see her anywhere... She might have just run home to prepare something big.”

You nod and glance around. There's no trace of Sophie as far as you can see, not even lurking in the shadows along the path back to the expensive shops. You turn and start heading for the nearest grocery store to grab the chocolate-covered coffee beans and black candle, and pause. You take a sudden step to the right, away from Sammy, and Sophie falls between you both, landing flat on the ground face down. She lets out a muffled groan of pain, and you look up. She had scaled up to the sign and clung to it, then dropped down to try to pounce on you.

“Sorry about that, Sophie. Instinct and all that.”

Sophie whimpers quietly and Sammy kneels beside her, helping her up slowly. There's blood on her lower lip, and her eyes are watering, and it looks like she bashed her knee pretty badly. She looks like she's about to cry.

You look at Sophie for a moment and kneel down next to her. You can tell from how she's holding herself where she's hurting, and you hug her slowly and carefully to avoid hurting her further. She leans in you a bit, and you pat her on the back.

“It was a good effort, and you had good form. Next time I'll teach you how to tuck and roll so that even if you miss, you won't hurt yourself. I'm gonna go get some stuff from the store. Sit tight, I'll be back with some ice for you.”

Sammy smiles at you as you let go of Sophie. Maybe she thinks it's cute to see your caring side or something. Well, there goes your shot at being the aloof coolguy in her eyes. Oh well. You get to your feet and turn to walk off.

“Sammy, wanna help her over to one of the benches? I'll only be a moment.”

Sammy gently starts to help Sophie to her feet.

“See you in a sec then.”

You head into the store and look around. It's not Walmart-size, but it's pretty big as far as stores go, and you make your rounds as quickly as you can. Ice cream, chocolate flavor. Chocolate-covered coffee beans. Black candle. Small first aid kit with the instant ice pack. Your little basket isn't super full, but it's getting there. You'll need to be careful how you pack your book bag with the surplus.

You glance at the packs of collectible cards while you wait at the checkout and spot a set for that game Meliora is always playing, and you snag a pack of those, debating between stealing them, putting them back or buying them. You could use them as a gift or bribe for sure, or she might want to play the tabletop version with you.

You put the card pack in your basket and pay for your items as quickly as you can, grabbing the bag from the cashier and heading out with it. You spot Sammy and Sophie talking to a tall and rather imposing man with messy black hair. He looks homeless, if you're being honest, but Sammy is talking to him like she knows him, and he seems to regard Sophie with something approaching sympathy, or at least the closest his callous expression can muster. He barely glances at you before walking off, heading for a nearby alleyway.

You sit down on the bench and glance at the man as you unpack the supplies, packing away the black candle discretely and handing Sophie the ice cream while you prep the first aid kit. She takes a big bite out of it, and you pass Sammy the alcohol swaps while you figure out how many bandages she needs and pop the ice pack, giving it a shake to get it to start chilling.

“S'really good...”

Sophie takes another bite, wincing as Sammy begins to clean her cuts and scrapes, and you apply the ice pack to her stomach where you know her bruising is worst.

“I got you my favorite brand, and it's chocolate, because chocolate is great.”

You bandage her leg and give the ice pack over to Sammy while you wrap her knee and check her palms, bandaging her hands as well. Sophie holds her hands out and smiles.

“I look like a mummy...”

She takes another big bite out of her ice cream.

“Nex' time I'll scare you properly... And you better teach me, promise?”

You nod and pat her on the head.

“Promise. Now run along, little ninja. I've gotta head home.”

Sophie leaps to her feet, wobbles a bit, and scampers off, limping a little while trying to maintain a brisk pace. Sammy laughs as she gets up and sighs.

“You're gonna be a good dad one day.”

You watch Sophie run off into an alley and nod.

“Teaching girls how to scale buildings and ambush people. Yep. Great dad. Say, who was that guy who was here a moment ago?”

Sammy tilts her head slightly.

“Oh, that was someone from Sophie's clan. He saw her and wanted to check on her. He's... undercover, or something. I think he's her bodyguard.”

You look around briefly.

"I'm gonna get changed. Wanna give Blake a call and see if he can pick us up?"

Sammy blushes.

"In public?"

You look at her for a moment, then at the shops.

"Actually, I was planning to use a restroom. I mean, if you want to see me topless so badly then sure, but I would have thought you'd want me all to yourself."

Sammy blushes brighter and you narrowly avoid a blow to the face with a smile, heading for the grocery store.

"Be right back. I promise not to be too long."

Sammy nods and sighs, smiling at you.

"Alright then... jerk."

You turn around and walk backwards.

"Excuse me, but I'm a Magnificent Bastard. I've snarked a lot of people to get this title, and I deserve to be called such."

Sammy sticks her tongue out at you, and you make a mental note to tell her later that a lady shouldn't stick out her tongue unless she intends to use it. She's just really cute when she's extra flustered. You head for the restroom and get changed into your clothes for the party. It's not your best look ever, but it's affordable and you could care less what happens to these clothes.

When you walk out of the grocery store you spot Sammy on her phone, probably talking to Blake. As you approach she cups her mouth, trying to conceal her words and lowering her voice a bit, but you can still make it out. Whoever is on the other end, they're needling Sammy for information on what she's been up to, and you vaguely recognize the voice on the other end as Marie, Blake's sister. You briefly hear her ask Sammy if she's made a move on you yet, and Sammy holds the phone in front of herself.

"Ride. Now. Please. Thank you."

She hangs up, red in the face and unable to meet your gaze, looking off to the side.

"They shouldn't be too long... We should meet them by the bus station."

You pull Sammy in for a hug.

"That was Marie, right? What did she say?"

Sammy leans on you, resting her head on your shoulder.

"Mostly she was poking fun at me, calling me a little girl, that sort of thing... I could tell my mom was in the background making her say those things... trying to make things awkward between us..."

You stroke her back softly.

"Is that going to be an issue tonight? Marie and all that?"

Sammy pauses for a few moments, as if unsure, before shaking her head.

"No more so than last night, I think. My mom has dirt on Marie for something so she makes her do the dirty work, but Marie does what she can to be nice to me and make up for it. Everyone else will be too wild and drunk to really pay us any mind."

You release Sammy and start leading her to the bus stop.

"I know that earlier things got out of hand, but I promise you that I'm not going to use the full moon or whatever happens tonight to trick or coerce you. If something happens, I want it to be genuinely what you want."

Sammy looks down, squeezing your hand gently.

"...I... kinda wanted what happened earlier, I just... I don't want you to think I'm easy or a slut or anything... I'm a little scared that if you stay until the full moon reaches its peak I'll do something that's gonna make you think of me that way... I think things are gonna get really wild tonight, and while I don't mean to be culturally insensitive, I don't quite think I'm ready for everything that'll take place. Plus it means we don't have to worry about things spiraling out of control between us."

Sammy falls silent, but she holds on to your arm all the way to the bus station, and she doesn't relinquish it for an instant until Blake arrives, racing over to the bus station at top speed and skidding to a halt right in front of you. He honks twice and lowers the window.

"Hop in the back, it's party time! Whoo!"

Sammy lets go of your arm as you get up, taking your hand instead as you help her up and into the car. Blake watches you in the mirror for a few moments before turning to face you.

"I have one rule. If you're going to date Sammy, be responsible. Something goes wrong? Own up to it. I don't care what you guys do, but don't try to weasel out of stuff."

"That sounds more like the kind of thing her dad should be telling me."

Blake shrugs.

"We're family, we all look out for each other. It's how we Wolfe's operate. Heck, if she wasn't being promised to Mark or claimed by you or whatever, I'd probably still be telling this to whichever member of the clan she ended up with."

You nod slowly and smile.

"In that case I better make sure I give this the importance it deserves..."

You turn towards Sammy.

"I swear that no matter what happens, I will own up to it and do the right thing. I will be responsible, and treat things with the gravity and importance they deserve instead of making light of things that truly matter. You have my word."

Sammy glances at Blake, who nods, and she hugs you tightly. Blake grins.

For the ritual. But like another anon said, maybe taking a bit more time with that in general would be a good idea
>>
You stroke Sammy's back gently as she gets comfortable beside you.

"So what typically happens at these parties? More of what happened last night or is it going to be wilder?"

Sammy shifts slightly, yawning softly and taking off her hat.

"Wilder... Much wilder... Lots of shapeshifting, drinking, wrestling... other stuff..."

She blushes softly, and you immediately get the gist of it. Frenzied, naked drunk people acting on their most primal instincts? Yeah, that's bound to happen at least once.

"Is that what all the new construction is about? These sorts of parties?"

Sammy nods drowsily.

"Mhmm... Mom wants to redo the bedroom and I think... I think this will be her excuse..."

Her eyes drift close and she mumbles against your chest, her tail emerging and wagging slowly. Blake stiffles a yawn of his own.

"When we arrive it'll be pretty subdued until the sun goes down. Almost everyone will be napping, so if you've got any homework for tomorrow, last chance before morning."

You lightly pat your book bag.

"I might do some light studying, yeah. But I guess we'll see what happens."

Blake turns on his music and bobs his head to it, and Sammy nuzzles your shoulder a bit, out like a light. Well, there goes the conversation. You could try to message Meliora again or maybe attempt to nap and bug Angie. Or you could just get out the book.

>>
>>44019473
What kind of demon is summoned in the ritual to mark our soul

Are there any physical(that can be seen by the naked eye or smelled) signs that we are marked
>>
>>44019473
What this Book is actually about?
>>
>>44019473
Is this supposed mark something that can be detected by other supernatural creatures?

Does this damn us to hell?
>>

What the soul mark will signify to the myriad supernatural beings who can see it
>or
Make sure it doesn't bind us into anything else, aside from what it laid out. Demons are tricky, after all.

>>
>>44019473
What kind of creatures/monsters/people can sense the mark that will be placed on our soul?
>>
>>44019473
In what way we can create a protection against the demons we summon? Can we seal the demon if needed to trade her freedom for what we ask? What usually the demon ask in exchange for what we ask of him?

>>44019473
What is to mark our soul?
>>
>>44019550
>What usually the demon ask in exchange for what we ask of him?
A cup of blood for this ritual. Anything else is the demon trying to deceive or trick you.
>>
So the biggest concerns seem to be "who can tell we're marked", "what does the mark do", and "what are the risks involved in the summoning". Is that about right?
>>
>>44019620
I guess sp, yeah
>>
>>44019620
I think the risk is more of a worry that there's fine print we haven't seen yet, than the mechanics of summoning itself, but basically, yea.

And anons, I REALLY REALLY think we should consult our friendly Angel of Death before we go through with this.

For me? Yes.
>>
>>44019671
I don't want to start dealing with demons if we can manage to become some kind of mordern alchemist i would be okay with it.
>>
>>44019671
The Mark itself might do something more, but the book seems to have gone to lengths to avoid fine print. It details a very simple, static exchange and even encourages the reader to not make any deals with the demon, and that such arts are not hemomancy.
>>
>>44019700
All the more reason to ask Angela about it, since she's probably our most reliable source, we'll just owe her a favor, which is okay. This is important. The book seems almost too easy, and those things in math class were creepy as hell, literally. Not to mention the teacher said she was feeding them students. We aren't that desperate to bring the folks back. We'd be better off making a blood oath than serving demons.
>>
>>44019802
Nobody has, at any point, said to serve demons. Hemomancy is only related to demons insofar as this ritual, which requires only a cup of blood, summons one to give you the ability to use it. No further.

This attempt at fearmongering is doing nothing for your argument.
>>
>>44019802
You're nuts. The whole goal of the character is Get Our Family Back.
We can deal with the teacher when we're stronger and bring it up with Angie, but it's day 2, we can slow down on the mortal enemies front.
>>
You adjust your pack and carefully extract your book, using your school clothes to keep it concealed as you peruse it and using your phone to help make your own translations more concise. It's more of a follow-up, but you feel it's warranted. Better safe than sorry.

The first thing you check is the mark. You could swear the passages on it weren't there the last time you looked through the ritual, but here they are plain as day. A magic book on magic. Classy.

The mark itself is an etching on the soul, visible and obvious only to those capable of viewing your soul. So probably just Angie from the look of things. It's like a painter signing his work. The summoned devil, low in rank and power, makes an investment by unlocking a small trickle of magical power and signing your soul so that if you should fall into hell, he or she has first dibs, assuming the devil is still alive at that point.

The cautioning against deals with devils is there because the ritual is an invitation of a very specific kind, and offers no protection of any sort if you so much as genuinely consider an offered bargain. The devil will appear, complete the task, perhaps make some minor offers and leave. What it wants is for the ritual to not go as planned, and it has up to three offers it is allowed to make before vanishing. Accept even one, and the devil will remain summoned until the task is complete, though frequently they simply devour the summoner and walk the earth without a time limit.

You slip your book back into your bag and glance ahead. The house is coming into view, and Blake looks like he's barely managing to stay awake. He pulls up in front of the house and reclines his seat, yawning softly.

And we're putting a permanent brand on our immortal soul that proclaims to anything that can see it that we do blood magic. We don't know if this will be like waving a giant "smite me" sign or what. Blood magic is not common, remember? I'm all for going all beyond the Boundary with our blood control, or even d&d tier blood mage, I just think we need more information first. Hell, even a phone assisted Internet search would help.

>>Wake Sammy up and head in with her

Fuck this ritual. And fuck the demon that wrote it..
>>
>>44019940
What's a quest without a few risks? Besides, this will probably offer a good chance. Everyone else is going to be busy losing their minds during the Full Moon, we'll have plenty of privacy, and I think we can resist the three temptations.
>>
>>44019939
>I fail to see how this could go wrong.
Famous last words. But fuck it. Now that we know we're selling our soul in exchange for the power, >>44019940
Ignore me there. Let's do this shit!
We'll just find a way to weasel out of it later. though I'm gonna be mad if it turns out Angie could have made the exact same pact with us, if we only asked.
>>
>>44019968
The ritual will likely lead to Allegsiet/ 4 grand necromancer dickery at minimum. Fact checking would be wise. We can last 1 month here without magic.

>>44019940
smart
>>
>>44019988
Blood-chan seems nice, so go for it.
>>
>>44019968
I half disagree with you. There must be better way of acquiring power. Just because something is risky wouldn't you want to increase your chances to survive it?
>>
>>44020010
Literally who? Going YOLO and jumping in without looking can get us in seriously deep shit, and BTQM wants us to be paranoid. NEVER take a source at face value, and always look up extra info or second source for confirmation.
>>
>>44020013
But it's RIGHT THERE. It's power, it's in our hands, we got it, we should absolutely use it, if only to make things even more interesting than before. Which, admittedly, isn't necessary, but I want it to happen for the Fun.
>>
>>44019850
I would like you to reread our premise quest. Our mother told us a powerful VAMPIRE can bring dead vamps back. We don't even know if this book will work on the former undead. It's just the easiest path, which, >>44019968, is often how you get a bad end. It's only day two. I say we take a month for more research like >>44019988
Cause what if it won't work and we can't become a vampire cause of it?
>>
>>44020042
And when dealing with demons, it's good to be a little bit paranoid.
>>
>>44020059
You just want us to die so BTQM has to focus on BTQreboot. Hush. Most of us really enjoy the social games we've been playing.
>>
>>44020067
That is the most impotent argument in this entire chain so far.
>>
>>44020059
You realize rushing into something is exactly how BTQM said we'd die right? That'd make the quest so interesting and fun, oh wait, no it wouldn't, because we'd be dead.

>>44020078
yup
>>
Am I the only one that expects the demon to a qt?

Knowing /tg/, we will make a deal with her if she's cute.

Which I'm totally for if we get a qt3.14 demon waifu
>>
>>44020085
BTDreboot* sorry
>>
>>44020098
>Make deal with demon
>Get damned
>Get eaten
>GG no re.

At that point not even Angie could keep our dumbass alive.
>>
>>44020098
It's a low level demon, so probably not even humanoid or gendered.

Alright, I think we've beaten this dead horse. Let's do a straight aye or nay so BTQM can advance the plot, yea?

Rushing for power is a good way to fuck yourself.Besides if we fail to acquire this power we won't be able to acquire other kinds of power. And because i like Angie i don't want to mingle with demons.

You don't have the authority to call a vote on this, and trying to do so will just mean that I vote yes to spite you.

You gently wake Sammy up, adjusting your bag a bit as you shake her shoulder.

"Sammy?"

She mumbles softly in response and you kiss her gently. She kisses back sleepily before yawning against your lips and rubbing her eyes, sitting up.

"Mmm...?"

She smiles and gives you a drowsy wave.

"Hi... Sorry about that..."

You open the car door and climb out, offering your hand to her.

"No worries. You alright?"

Sammy nods slightly as she climbs out and takes your arm.

"Yeah... It hits me hardest when the full moon is approaching since I'm... you know... But everyone else is probably napping right about now..."

You head for the door and Sammy fishes her key out of her pocket, unlocking the door. The house isn't nearly as crowded as last time. In fact, you only see two werewolves curled up on the rug, fast asleep. Then you hear the clicking of heels, and Jennifer walks out of the kitchen holding a can of Red Bull in one hand and a glass of what is probably vodka in the other. She frowns at you.

"Good evening, Samantha. Oliver."

>Write-in
>>
>>44020154
Yes.
We need power, it doesn't mean we have to use it, but we need it anyways. And, if the thing is just a low rank, maybe we can deal with it?
>>
>>44020194
"Good evening Ma'am. Hope we didn't disturb you."
>>
>>44020194
What a hoe
>>
>>44020201
The problem is we may be fucking ourselves over hard for the power, and I'm fairly certain we couldn't kill even a low level demon. We really do not need power if the strings attached damn us, rip out our soul, or make us go into a bloodthirsty rage, etc.
>>
>>44020194
>Write-in, Smile, wave, say hello, try to take Sammy up to her room.
Girl needs some comfy before things get nuts.
>>
>>44019932
I'm also mostly nay on this at the moment, since we only have one source. That could tell us all lies and we wouldn't know. So before doing it maybe collecting more info would not be bad. Also this >>44020236

>>44020194
Seconding >>44020211 and >>44020241
Greet her friendly and get sammy into her room
>>
>>44020236
There are only significant strings attached if you're stupid enough to try and make a secondary deal with the demon, going by what information we currently have.

Also don't respond to the troll.
>>
>>44020211
Second this endeavour.
>>
>>44020272
>Not responding to trolls
Where do you think this is, /tg/? Wait...
>>
>>44020194
>>44020241
Second.
>>
>>44020194
>Red Bull isn't an adequate substitute for sleep. Talking from personal experience here.
>>
>>44020272
According to the book which is our one source that we haven't fact checked, at all.
>>
>>44020201
I don't know how demons work in BTQM quest. But once a demon is destroyed in our plane his soul goes back to hell and after a long period of time he can re-create his body and be summon back. Unless we get spells involving bidding or destroying souls we can get in big trouble.
>>
>>44020272
I'm getting the distinct feeling this might be some cursed book made to screw over mortals. As certain passages seem to appear only if we look for them.
The first thing you check is the mark.
>You could swear the passages on it weren't there the last time you looked through the ritual, but here they are plain as day. A magic book on magic.
>>
>>44020302
I'm aware. I didn't say that we shouldn't do more research. Just that we currently have no facts indicating that there would be strings attached.

>>44020364
It's also possible it's a magic book made to hide it's secrets from one or more kinds of creature, or that the wizard who wrote it just found this a superior alternative to an appendix/table of contents.
>>
>>44020296
>But when combined with vodka, it can do wonders for like 52 hours, assuming you don't have to drive.
>>
>>44020364

>Also don't respond to the troll.

Only because you asked nicely.
>>
>>44020412
True. So, spend a month finding secondary sources before we commit?
>>
>>44020440
So long as we don't discard it entirely, I'm fine with that idea.
>>
>>44020440
I agree.
>>
>>44020457
We totally have time to call Angie right now and ask her about it, while the wolves are all napping before the party. She's been as honest with us as anyone, and I do believe she owes us some secrets from our dream-gamble. Though I might be mistaken there.
>>
>>44020492
Milf wolf is still awaken. But we can always expect to have a good roll.
>>
>>44020530
We obviously make polite noises, then excuse ourselves and step outside. Might as well indirectly ask Mel about it too, since she monitors our phone with a subroutine.
>>
>>44020492
It's worth bringing it up with her, but it's unlikely to satisfy my desire for further knowledge on it's own. An angel would likely have a strong bias towards discouraging a mortal from pursuing any sort of deal with, well, depending on the nature of the setting, any magical creature, but especially demons, and possibly any path at all that would result in them acquiring power beyond their station.
>>
You wave politely at her and smile.

"Hi there. Sorry to intrude. I know there's a big party going on tonight and everyone is pretty tired at the moment, so we'll try to keep things quiet."

Jennifer takes a swig of vodka and washes it down with Red Bull, shuddering. You can almost smell her drink as she draws near, and it's certainly not vodka. It's a sort of... aniseed smell. You wish you could remember what drink smells like that. Something with an A...

"It's fine. I'd like to have a word with you later though. I have some matters to discuss with you."

She looks over at Sammy, her expression shifting to neutral, if a bit imperious.

"Alone, preferably."

She turns back to you. You've almost worked it out. Ab-something. Ab...

"I've had a word with my husband about allowing you into the clan. We've made some arrangements. We will discuss it when you have the time."

She heads for the stairs, taking another swig from each drink. Absinthe. She's drinking a whole glass of the stuff along with an energy drink. Either she has the tolerance of a god, or she's going to get seriously fucked up tonight. Sammy squeezes your arm.

"At least there's going to be good news, right...? Otherwise she would have told you right now that you won't be able to join the clan... She would have liked that..."

You shrug a bit. Mark acts like a jerk but enjoys writing poetry. Sophie acts scary but it's all a game. Patrick acts like the big dog in charge but is a huge softie around his girls. You're starting to wonder if every werewolf is like that, dual in nature and in form. Maybe Jennifer's icy exterior hides something underneath.
>>
>>44020583
She's drinking fuckin absinthe? Goddamn.
>>
>>44020583
>Maybe Jennifer's icy exterior hides something underneath.
Untold fathoms of further bitchiness.
>>
>>44020582
I dunno. She's an angel of death, a grim reaper, not a halos and harps angel. She seems more like a reaper from supernatural than the Bible. that's probably just my preexisting bias though
>>
"Maybe. Let's head to your room and relax."

Sammy nods, and you walk with her to her bedroom. She blushes brighter with each step, and as she opens the door she glances at you shyly. Her walls are covered in posters of bands and athletes, and her bedspread is the same purple as her carpet. Her bed is right under a large window, and there's a bathroom adjoining the bedroom.

"Home sweet home..."

>Let's take a nap and rest up
>Wanna make out?
>So there's this ritual thing I was thinking of doing...
>What do you wanna do?
>Other (write-in)
