Hey.
I'm going to run a Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0 campaign (my fifth one with this game, but the first with so few house-rules) soon with at least two players, maybe three or four if the other players wake up. The campaign is called Night City Stories, and I'm planning on taking most inspiration from the various GTA games, Michael Mann and Guy Ritchie movies, plus the Cyber and the Punk, of course. Conspiracies, aliens, psychic powers, silver lady with rippers and chrome tits, et cetera.

But I need pictures. I noticed the board game Netrunner had a lot of great pics, but I don't know where to find them online, so I'd appreciate a source if you have one. Other than that, I'm looking mostly for characters that'll serve as NPCs or random encounters (I draw a pic at random and improvise the encounter on it). Please refrain from posting Shadowrun material (even though people with bodysculpted elf bodies exist, but because the SR brands are really easy to recognize and I want to run it like Night City). I'll post the other character sheet, then dump the art I already thought of saving.

For house-rules, because everyone house-rules CP2020, here's what I have :

>The Netrunning chapter I actually crossed out of the summary in my physical copy. Netrunning is handled by Interface, Programming and System Knowledge, but is completely freeform and essentially a matter of player decision (pick one option or push for both, take risks for better rewards) and basic character skill (roll against TN 20 to hack into the system. Ok you're in, there's the data node here, the security center there, where do you go, etc). This makes Hackers still cool, but not more complex than any other mechanic in the game, so everyone can still do things.

CharGen is done via Method II : roll 9d10, re-roll any 1 or 2 and assign wherever you want. It's not balanced. Fuck balance.

And that's it. The whole book other than that I use as written.

This is Jan Ditlev, also known as Gasparsky. He used to be in the same gang as Bonnie. He eventually took over after she left and sent them straight to the slaughterhouse. As in, he literally declared war on the Slaughterhouse gang. He survived, though nobody really understands how, and apparently wants Bonnie's head, despite still considering her as a great friend.

Chevoyo is the best bodyguard in Night City. He once took a .45 ACP FMJ bullet in the head at pointblank range and got up about half an hour later, unharmed. The nanomachines inside his body make him a prey for corporate interest, but his jobs usually make him hard to track. Word on the street is that he spent his childhood in some rotting gulag and that evil scientists did crazy experiments on him. He LOVES holo-cartoons.

That's pretty cool. I'm thinking of making the afro guy the regular fixer the PCs might work with.

For this campaign, I think I'll set up a few independent runs taken from the screamsheets at the end of the core book (there's a decoy truck escort, protecting someone from a cyberpsycho serial killer, and even a bank job), and try to introduce as much personal drama (as in their past come in and kick them in the teeth until they fix it) as possible in parallel. The idea is that the three or four first sessions will focus on regular jobs, and then it goes wherever it goes. The game is very well suited for sandbox gaming, what with a supplement detailing the entire city in a use-able way and the great encounter tables.

What was your favorite PC? Stories?

I cherish the first time I introduced people to RPGs with Cyberpunk 2020. It ended with C4 blowing up everyone in a Night Club, then half the party getting shot and the other half trying to murder each other while half-counscious. Good times.

Some people complain about CP2020 being too crunchy. Searching for some pictures, I found this:

>So im about to start playing come Cyberpunk 2020
>>Why? I mean sure, use the setting. But the crunch?!

>ZOMG! The 'crunch' doesn't use cards, tokens, 52 buzz words, etc, therefore it must suck! The crunch is fine and because it's fast & easy allows for GM's with story telling ability to actually concentrate on the story and not spend 15 minutes at a time looking up obscure shit. I'm reminded of an old old button from the 80's that reads "We play Role Playing Games - not Rule Playing Games."

It summarizes pretty well the appeal of basic Cyberpunk 2020. It's not a rule-light/freeform game. It does have crunch. But it's simple.

It's really far easier than it looks and can run pretty smoothly, the only thing I've always had trouble with is keeping track of NPCs wound state. I can't Shadowrun, GURPS or even D&D 3 and I still have a blast being a Cyberpunk Ref, so I think most of /tg/ might derive pleasure in this.

Of course, there is the fact that it's a first generation RPG in design (Pondsmith was more inspired by the little brown books from 1974 than more contemporary games), so there's absolutely no balancing anything. I don't see that as a problem though.

>ugly and/or overweight cyberpunk female
>cyberpunk chick (hot or not) that isn't asian or white

Does such art exist or do I have to dust of my subpar drawing skills?
>>
>>48240915
There are black, hindu and arab characters around, though I can't find most of my pics, thus why I made the thread.

Ugly or overweight is somehow rare but that's not the Cyberpunk genre, that's people wanting to draw pretty people most of the time. And it kinda makes sense in a world where any punk can get a bodysculpt that you won't find as much uglies. What I'd like to see more in Cyberpunk art is regular joes. Not super badass ninja people and just, average if somewhat quirky city goers of all sorts and ways of life.
>>
>>48240915
Try to open the Cyberpunk 2020, it has non asian, non white illustrations. Ugly or Overweight isn't very Cyberpunk in aesthetics though.

First time I played Cyberpunk 2020, I was 14 and the mission was the Night City Stalker mission. My character was a South-Am veteran who got some cyberware for free as the DM was a 13yo noob, and my character had to operate alone.

I don't know how my character got contacted, but he had to go into some night club to meet Medi, the female dealer he had to protect from the Stalker. On the way to the club my character encountered some techie. For some reason the encounter ended up in a firefight and the looting of the techies bodies. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I didn't knew what techies were and that when I asked the DM, he simply replied that they are weak as fuck. Anyway, the meeting with Medi went smoothly and my character got 50% pay in advance.

The subtile plan was to hide in streets and minimize movement to avoid meeting the Stalker. And by in the streets, I really mean in the streets - which was in a trash container in some dark alley and not in a coffin motel like Medi had imagined. Anyway she had no choice, it was the container (which got bulletproofed with the armored jackets from the dead techies) and eating kibble from Grandmill's or facing the Stalker alone. I also remember that my character had bough two or three Claymore mines and laser trip-wires detonators which got used to defend the alley.

After some day and meeting some contacts the Stalker finally appeared. Of course he never crossed the Claymore mine line and my character had to shoot him with using his trusty MPK-11. As the Stalker was heavily armored the firefight lasted a while, but my character emerged victorious, also thanks to the fact that the DM had forgotten to equip the Stalker with handgrenades, while my character could shoot from his armored trash container.

Non-white and non-asian I can do (also got at least a couple of Indians, if you're not counting them as Asian)
Ugly is a bit harder, and is of course subjective
Overweight I think remains the pretty much the preserve of fat guys - I think the closest I've got is an executive who's a bit chubby, but even then it's in her hips.

Sorry, it's mostly bad news - there is no single compilation of netrunner card art.
Worse, a lot of the artists don't put up all the netrunner stuff they've done on their own sites - I know at least a few who've got like a third of their work up.

That said, I've got quite a lot of it.

The biggest compilation I think I've found is probably
http://www.netrunner-italia.com/galleria/#prettyPhoto

Though that can be a pain to get pics from.

The most prolific artist who's got most of their stuff readily available is probably Matt Zellinger

In D&D, you start as a zero and the better you play, the higher you can go and the more important you can be.

In Cyberpunk 2020, you choose how many points you put in your special ability at chargen, meaning you can start as a major player or as a little guy, whatever you want. It's a tool the player use to say "I wanna do that kinda shit". I like that.

I take this option whenever I get to play. Sadly, my own players are wiser than that so I've never got this kind of pressure to put from the start.

I usually don't give this option to my players from the start. It motivates them more to hustle during the game.

Ok so I'm going to run the Screamsheet #1, the convoy protection gig. I think Petrochem will send two squads of regular soldiers with an armor plated sergeant leading them. That would be 8 soldiers with REF 8 and +6 in the necessary skills armed with sidearms and assault rifles. The boss has a kerenzikov booster, armor plating and a shotgun.

They can't use rockets or the such so they're going to put that weird carpet of nail thing that the police uses to pop tires and pursue them in jeeps.

Years later I DM'd for quite a lively group of stoners.

We had John Doe, an extremely handsome solo, who hated corporations after they had his girlfriend killed during a mission in Hong Kong. He was a US army veteran. John was also a true American patriot. His cellphone ringtone was the Star-Spangled Banner. Forgot to mention that being extremely handsome, he also worked as a gigolo.

Then we had Iron Black, an Afro-American solo, also with military background (marines). There was a terrible rivalry between him and John Doe, that would often lead to infighting. His ringtone would be Dead Skin Mask from Slayer. He also worked as pimp for John.

Finally, we had the calming factor in the group: Adolf Krauss, a German citizen and proud neo-nazi gang member and solo. His ringtone was the old nazi-Germany anthem, Deutschland über Alles.

Together they went through many missions and ended up working as private hit-team for an Arasaka top-exec.

The most memorable event that almost lead to a fistfight was:

I had created a chart to calculated the income of sex-workers. Having seen it, the player of John always made him do the most perverted and degrading stuff. Iron Black would then make sure the customer would pay. One time John agreed to do a mega bdsm gangbang with a bunch of Japanese female students. The pay would have been awesome (around 5000eb). What happened was that the girls bondaged and gagged John. Then they did horrible things to him and filmed it. After, one after another, they started leaveing the hotel room, telling Iron Black that one girl was still finishing but she would come soon and pay everything (the girls were all rich corporate brats). Unfortunately, Iron Black counted wrong and waited one hour in front of the door. When finally he went inside to check what was going on, he only saw John bound to the bed, injured, smeared with filth, and with different objects protruding from his dilated ... And Iron Black didn't have the money.

I'd recommend 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. Ronin is also a good movie that shows how operations are planed. Otherwise many Michael Mann movies are pretty operator. Blackhawk Down is another classic. Sicario is pretty good, too. Triple 9 isn't exactly an excellent movie, but it's not too shabby either. Finally, I'd recommend The Unit. It has a lot of undercover ops.

With the right neuralware and whole-body organ (& cyberware) printers TF2 immortality is possible.
TF Industries is the parent corp (Washington state; TF is Tango Foxtrot: Totally F'd).
Valve Corporation (in universe subdivision of TFi)
Valve Co provides games (with optional Steamcap controller or TF medical cyberware) that can be linked to bot bodies (WiFi required), cybershells (AI or wet-brain-organ-printed copy) or full-body printers (brain copy) to provide on-demand personnel in TFi's quest to profiteer off and stop major events.
If you die with Valve Co's Steamcap on or TF medical cyberware they print an indentured servitude contract and a copy of you.

The Sicario border crossing and shootout scene would go pretty well with the Cyberpunk 2020 Screamsheet #1 Mission. The Ural truck is stuck at some checkpoint. There are numerous civilians around. All of a sudden the characters notice two or three cars with suspicious individuals on board. Sicario's soundtrack is also excellent, making the world seems more menacing and on the edge.

Not the other anon you were talking to. Noticed pic related on your page. Do you use it as it is (purchase basic system, then purchase upgrades on it) and do you have a CP2020 compatible price list? I'm also interested in your skill list.

>Cyberpunk 2020's cyberware now being all based around upgrading stats
It's like you took what makes new edition Shadowrun's cyberware extremely lame and boring and applied it to 2020. I think I may just vomit.
>>
>>48255434
I find that system not bad for a rule lighter version of CP2020. From my experience I can say that noobs easily get lost in CP2020's long cyberware list. A simplified list also prevents discussions like: "Can I take the Adrenaline Injector, if I already have a Sandevistan booster? Do I get a BODY bonus if I take the linear frame but don't have cyberlimbs? And what about if I have muscle grafts, do I get a bonus if I take a linear frame? And if I have cyberlegs, I could squat much more, do I get a BODY bonus." Therefore, I'm not as categoric as you on this matter.

This would be the cyberware list I used for years: http://www.ambient.ca/cpunk/blackhammercyber.html
The list is definitely too long for new players. What I did, was simply to ask the players what kind of cyberware they're looking for and then I would give them a few options. But letting them read through the list will be too time consuming.

And here's an excellent drug production system that I also used for years: http://www.ambient.ca/cpunk/drugprod.html
A tad more crunchy than the basic CP2020 system, but it makes drugs much more varied and cheaper.

To go with it, there's a better system for dealing with Humanity: http://www.ambient.ca/cpunk/change.html
Again, it's a tad more technical than the vanilla system, but gives some good ideas about how to play and deal with cyberpsychosis.
>>
>>48255541
But with that lighter version it makes cyberware so... Lame. Before each piece of ware was unique and it built up the character. With what you have, it's just as bland and boring as Shadowrun's cyberware. I have not once met someone who did not understand how 2020's cyberware worked, or didn't know if something was allowed once they read the description of it. I think if you're playing with people who can't understand something so simple, you may want to look for your players outside of an elementary school.
>>
>>48255873
There will definitely be less variety by using a list of 30 cyberware parts vs. a list of 100 cyberware parts. Same as creating characters with 4 stats and a list of 20 skills will give less variety than characters created with 10 stats and skills out of a list of 100 skills.

The guy who made this chart wanted to make simpler version of Cyberpunk 2020 (see character sheet enclosed). As such I find it ok. Is it needed? Personally I don't think so, but if he and his group want it, why not.

What are the dominant colors in your cyberpunk game?

Mine would be white, grey and blue for corporate environment. Black, red and green for the slums.
