Our remilitarization under the warlords continues, as we somewhat try to delve into Brood mutations, and meet up with Tek bandits who say they are able to make any kind of tek for a price.

This is a discussion thread since I believe we've reached the point where our forces are so complex it does warrant additional planning. Also in case Genie is okay with a marathon.

For once, the Warlord was actually. . .enthusiastic about Arty'ing up our Mountain! Awesome, I want to make it happen.

Action 1
Get a price range from the Tek Bandits on the following modifcations to our SAMFAP + RAGE system.

Currently, our SAMFAP + RAGE system has some key drawbacks which we would like fixed.

>fast firing artillery.
>Stating that at such rates what it can't kill will waste ammo
>what it can kill it doesn't need to spend that much ammo killing
We need to modify it to be able to select fire as well as full auto, with adjustable RPM. This should actually be fairly easy.
Similarly we would do well increasing the calibre so that it can kill bigger things, maybe more effective shell types for different things?

Artillery silencers. This is the main thing. Instead of buying them pre-built how much for blueprints?

Luckily we have the giant flying mountain for this. So that issue is resolved, and the Warlord even said to arty it up.

In addition, there is also the matter that we haven't exactly tested the other RAGE roles of AA and Anti-Tank. In theory, with the rapid rates of fire and rapid traversing turret they should be able to unload five shells upon five tanks in almost five seconds (or five helicopters), but I wager that would require more effective targeting computers as well as choice of shells such as AT or HEAT

Air is probably going to be the biggest threat to our mountain because some monsters fly. On top of that enemy air attacks, including droppods that deliver troops and explosives through shields.

Our RAGE system is capable of firing flack shells like machine guns and track moving aircraft but even flak stopped being effective in the old world by using fast planes or aircraft with heavy shields to repulse flak shrapnel or point defenses to take down surface to air missiles

Our SAMFAP's can manufacture either shells or rockets and missiles. Got any good AA weapon designs or ammo types to counter Anti-AA and take down even advanced flyers?"

Usually trade doesn't cost an action. We spent 2 actions on trading with those motherfuckers WITH the CEO (hopefully he gets another upgrade from the crit).

Anyway, as nice as that is we NEED to keep Axum training our military. I went to sleep and everyone fucking forgot that he still has shit he wants to do to them.

And let me tell you that something very, VERY bad is coming. We need to trade for what we need and RAMP UP ASAP.

Just pull some of the tech form the ninja behemoth. Then we should be able to get with in range to sucker punch with the Fist. Send in the boys and leave the target to the monsters and zombies.

So why don't we just build a network of normal-sized thrusters that include the same touch JAL performed on our base structures so they're self repairing? Distributed targets are harder to take out, we could network them all together for the same effect as a few giant thrusters.

Also, since we're trying to improve our military and integrate broodtech.

-Armor augments and/or implants that let us take advantage of the brood's diversity of avenues of communication.
We've got the Corp Comms Center and it's obviously pretty good to have lasted us this long, but we noticed when our guys ran towards our base and caused the big clusterfuck in our last area that sometimes orders just don't go through in the heat and confusion of battle.

-Combat Drug Manufacturing Implants
I'm SURE the Brood has some sick-ass combat drugs (or could develop some easily, shit we could buy some), and I'm SURE they can make something to plug into our guys that releases those drugs when appropriate. Combat drugs are an extremely effective and relatively cheap way to give our guys extra OOMPH to take on really tough enemies and win.

-Medigel Implants
Self explanatory. It plugs up holes and lets our guys keep fighting, decreased losses of troops is always a good thing. Umbra is a medical Mega and the Brood probably already has something that accomplishes this so it shouldn't be too hard to get a version for our guys.

-Increased Toughness, Regen, Reactions, Endurance
Standard stat increases that are still very valuable and shouldn't be overlooked. Redundant organs and/or healing factor makes our guys tougher and quicker to recover. Reaction time improvement can be accomplished with some sort of implant or improved senses. Ideally endurance would come from somehow make our men compatible with brood hyper-efficient fat cells.

-Implantable Weapons
I've never actually been able to come up with any ideas along these lines that work in concert with power armor but I'm sure there are some.

I think what anon is also asking is that preferably we get blueprints for those special ammo types/gun mods instead of buying premade from stock.

That way we can just make more instead of having to come back and buy and stockpile. Our forces are geared around "produce what you need when you need it"

Understandably this is probably more expensive but we'd like to pay for it.

We want to emulate and copy what they did, and we have lots of scraps they can use to reconstruct and reverse engineer the technology and we will pay for it as well as provide some of the extra scraps as payments

The artillery silencers will be especially expensive however.

They aren't ones for selling blueprints and naturally they have some MAD countermeasure for reverse engineering their tech.

Former major commerce center crashed by a fuck ton of space debris.

It had a huge city around it...megacity size used to mind you.

You have to be aware that most of the 'megacity' was actually for commerce and not actual city space.

Most of it was wiped out or heavily fought over. Much of the former city is simply gone and the near the tower has been converted into crude living space.

The tower was considered VERY important and was well protected during the Fall the rest of the city however...not so much.

At best you had corp forces fighting to defend their installations.

Buy them. Blueprints first until we have them bought, then the rest on retrofitting/equipping what we have now. Money is not an issue.

I'm kinda wondering why we don't just pay them to build our crap for cheaper than the blueprints. Build up trust in the new possible trade partner and maybe get a discount later.

It would be nice to have some allies for taking the tower back. Otherwise it's merging with JAL's forces to gain more actions to work with.

An obvious one is to try to raise our population back to what it once was, both for more troops and generally because it is useful.

I feel we need, and have pushed for us to, expand our number of bases and our production facilities.

Another would be fusing with a group of survivors or a think-tank.


There is the plan to go and become a space civ but I feel we are quite unready for such an action.

Umbra could not do the space civ even if they wanted to. Consider that.

If we want ultimate power we are better of joining the Brood which is an option that is barred only because we don't know the full ramifications or have controll over the process.

I believe our strategy, however, should involve more brood. We will follow the Brooding Bandits by laying brood nests and having them take over zombie hives and monster dens to multiply, thereby pacifying areas. Unfortunately the drawback of not being able to live in those areas, but I think that's mitigated by having nices places we can live in.

I dislike the concept of relying on the brood. They are a "win" button if used correctly and that doesn't mean they are bad but rather I want to try to develop besides them.


Also I agree, we need a change of strategy, because WW 1 tactics was never going to work out. For one simple fact; the enemy isn't going to agree to not use things that make them redundant or retarded.

I want to make our troops competent and then to develop a theme from that rather than the other way round.

Eh, yeah that's already going the way considering a stronger investment in fast vehicles and blitz tactics.

Of course we can develop besides them, however, encouraging their development gives us the best of both options.

If we choose to unite/be absorbed by the Brood, then they are aptly strong enough.

If we choose to remain independant we can continue to do so, whilst having them be strong.

There is very little reason not to support Brood growth especially considering we already have some smatterlings of brood tech among us in addition considering that what is very likely the avatar of the Grim Reaper himself Elton Skeller and his army of the truly dead is coming for us we need all the help we can get.

There's also hints he may bring an army and a VERY powerful hero from a past civ against us too

Consider the fact that we're not the only ones to use this tactic too.

Zed bandits do a similar thing with zombies akin to Umbra, send hordes of them at the enemy like a sledgehammer while their own elite forces like a scalpel slice em up, and then raise the dead as more zombies while the Zeds remain human.

The Rejects integration of mutants and robotics forces into their warband.

The use of feral or unnatural wildlife is hardly a revolutionary concept.

Expeditions are however popular to go into the tower.

Mostly in the attempts to repair, climb, or pilfer what it may still contain. Lot of forces are digging around in those old ruins because they know much of it was old corp trading centers which are bound to have some good left behind cargo.

Hey Genie, help me make sure I got this down, trying to describe that fuck awesome battle against the Heart of the Jungle.

So from what I remember, General Dukov and his paramilitary army of vast hordes of behemoths, mobile forts, and even 8 mobile bases lead an attack down the slopes of the great crater into the heart of the Jungle itself, with Ramona and her shining chrome Super Bandit Spider tank at the helm cutting through beasts with gunfire.

Warlord Slag and Joe actually emerged WITHIN the crater from the underground brood passageways fighting the entire time. They were believed dead at the time.

The mobile walking bases combined into a super base to unleash the super weapon to scour the crater as a last ditch effort that succeeded. It worked killing the brood leader...but the King survived to make his way out to near the Memor base.

Because nobody EVER survived using one of them. Eventually they couldn't suppress this despite insane battlefield losses against the Brood and despite the horrifying side effects they were still regularly fielded. Just now with volunteers and criminals.

Death Cans became one of the most iconic images of humanity's desperation during the Brood Wars. Especially when a particular crazy bunch of glorious bastards weren't satisfied with them.

They actually volunteered to use the 'experimental' ones where the nuclear reactors to be replaced with the far more dangerous mini Fusion reactors...that then forcefully jury rigged the system to fuse with plasma weaponry and a self destruct switch.

That group became one of the most legendary fighting groups during the Brood Wars known simply as the 'stars of the brood wars'. There was not a single survivor who lived to see the end of the Brood Wars as supposedly the last of them died during the final onslaught. A suit of their jury rigged armor was captured and put in a museum.

The 'stars' were a widely popular accidental propaganda when a few videos were seen with soldiers using their experimental Death Cans and jury rigging to annihilate vast swathes of brood forces with their redlined screaming in protest plasma weapons before seemingly detonating by accident or by choice taking even more with them.

The few users of the suits who talked about the suits stated that the suits when fired up in battle ran so hot you really did start to cook, even as leaks proceeded to dissolve you slowly, and ironically when cooling fluid leeked keeps you cooled down enough/alive to fight a bit longer.

Nobody has ever seen the effects of the suits on the users because they always self destructed in a great plume of plasma. Unlike with the Death Cans with whom 'survivors' are well documented. However as witnesses tell you the stench was incredibly unique before the guaranteed plasma plume.

Even when the death cans finally stopped being death cans the fusion death cans were still commonly seen on the battlefield. Cooking themselves alive and slowly just so they could kill even more brood before their suits invetiably self destructed.

They were such a terrifying foe even Brood forces were seen running away from them.

We should be getting blueprints of all sort from the Tek Bandits this turn. That's what the past two action-plans that both got 100s dictated.

My objective with this is to establish our ability to fight in a combined arms manner and quickly, as well as establish a basis of good solid fodder to prevent losses of valuable vehicles when we get ahold of blueprints for them or purchase them later on.

You have to keep in mind that we don't have a single thing that an inferior quality design. The worst, most basic designs we've got are still good and solid (such as all the basic bandit vehicles, the super vehicles actually being drool-inducing to most bandit factions) and benefit from bonuses from our manufacturing to boot.

Was going to suggest resource bots to get crap for daily operations to make sure we don't waste the good stuff, but raiding is actually better.

Remember now that we have all this tech and materials we should start building on the mountain soon. Like, as soon as our vehicle fleet (and shielding) is up to snuff.

Telescope is cool, but not the best idea (awkward angle, probably debris in the way).
Maybe an advanced spybot capable of reaching orbit. I liked the spider base climbing the Elevator idea, maybe we could build a tiny tank spyder as proof of concept.

These two pastebins are from when Genie ran a MMO-esk quest. Unlike the heroes we used here. We had to build these two up from the ground. In turn we got to see all the hidden stats. I believe each hero we get has something akin to these stats. Just that we don't get to see it all.

So at the moment we just been buffing the CEO doing trading and things he's already good at. Which means it will take longer to see a new skill from that. Even more so that he is now a hero and harder to mold into something different. Really to see faster growth I believe we will need to buy or make equipment.

In Ginny's case she gets that new tech and soon after gets a bonus. We were even told she was about to get another one from hanging with the Wasting Warband AI. So if we find other trade heroes or CEOs he can talk to. Then maybe he can pick up new tips and tricks to speed things along. Similar to Ginny getting new tech knowledge to work with.

I guess it'd be cool if we can find Fortico, but I don't understand why we aren't just fixing the mountain up ourselves. We have the technology, we can rebuild it. (Seriously, I think all that tech made us even better at building shit.)

I still think we should actually design the fortress before we build it. We should also figure out how we're going to power it.

Also important to note: I'm no engineer, but even I can guess that when it comes to building defenses, a flying fortress carved from a floating mountain is a whole different animal from one that's stationary and on the ground.

See but that's where I disagree

If we go the extra mile TO essentially attach what is battleship armor to the entire superstructure, instead of making armor a part of the mountain, it will be that much more resiliant against enemy attack and the superweapons they will no doubt launch at us.

Every direct hit on our mountain will send chunks of soft rock and dirt flying up into the air, eventually wearing down our mountain.

If we did build this like we would a ship, prefabricating large armored plates, hallways, and turrets the structure would be that more deadly and resiliant to attack.

Technically speaking we would build the inward infrastructure first, the hallways, living quarters, engine and fuel rooms, air and vehicular storage plus supporting structures, then the external heavy armor on the outside.

But it would actualy be wise to have multiple layers of armor both on the surface of the mountain itself as well as the inner armor. Battleships IRL and in sci-fi tend to have that and it would make the structure even more difficult to board and take over as we'd protect the different sections with thick bulkhead doors and inner defenses.

The inner core is floating rock, but the outside of the vessel will be several floors and layers of different levels, possible separated by additional armored plating.

What I mean to say is I do not want just pockets of bases and forts on the mountain protected soley by shields,
