It's extraordinarily good for playing board games, especially board games with many cards and expansions, like Arkham Horror or Munchkin.

I use Roll20 for DND but all the utilities are on TS if you want to use them - and they're in 3D.

Also fun to dick around with games like Life or Pictionary.

I use it. IMO, Tabletop Sim works best for simpler board games. It's fantastic for things like Red Dragon Inn, King of Tokyo, Duels of the Battle Wizards, basically anything that doesn't involve a lot of components and precise positioning.

As you start adding more components, it gets more and more fiddly. Still possible, but less ideal. You can play Battlestar Galactica on it, but it involves a decent amount of work, for example.

I wouldn't use it for RPGs or card only games, those are both better served by specific clients like Roll20 or OCTGN. But for board games where the tactility of components can be a factor, Tabletop Sim is great.

How quick and easy is it to make custom decks?

I've been testing a game with some friends in roll20, and making decks takes forever since there's no card database and you can't copy cards in the same deck?

Asking the wrong dude.
TCG's don't work out that great for that reason, I've found.

What about standalone card games, like BattleCON or some shit?

Just fine, if Munchkin is any indication.
Deckbuilding might take some time, though.

It's not hard, you can find a simple guide through Google

I've played magic, yugioh, monopoly, cards against humanity and even 40k on tabletop sim

I've got a dnd session running on it, works just fine. There's a slight learning curve to using the interface, but now I deal/play/handle cards better in game than I do irl.

It's kind of tedious, but easily doable once you know how. Better than any alternatives I've seen.

I've been making a game in it. Program is unintuitive at first, but once you know how to add things it's easy enough. Not been able to test it with other players yet, but whatever.

I play boardgames almost daily on there and have a weekly game for our 2E game

I've been playing wargames and board games on it a lot.

Board games work pretty great.

Wargames are hit or miss depending on what's in the workshop. Playing Flames of War is hard due to a lack of 15mm WW2 minis, but 40k is chock full of stuff ripped straight from Dawn of War at perfect scale and everything.
