Is it possible to cure someone of being a bad sport?
Me, I'm a bad sport and I hate it, no matter what I do I always go into full sulk mode.
I recite a "it's only a game, have fun" in my head, I even recite "It doesn't matter, win or lose it doesn't matter"
once upon a time, winning or losing didn't matter, how does one get back there?
>>46695296
Have someone taze you if you go into sulk mode. You'll learn.
>>46695296
Time. When the weight of winning or losing is secondary to just getting to do stuff that involved your hobby, it's easer to shrug off a loss.
>>46695355
This, honestly. I used to not want to play games I was bad at because I thought I looked stupid or weak or whatever when I lost. It's why I never really played 40k or Warmachine that much because all of my friends were much better at that kind of game than I was so I quit. Eventually I grew out of it and now I don't really care as much when I lose a game because I'm hanging out with my friends and we're all having a good time and that's what's important.
I'm want to run a Viking campaign (possibly Varangian, probably Varangian, those guys are cool), and I'm trying to look for a good system that would work well for such. Help a guy out?
Now, it doesn't need to be an rpg about vikings specifically or anything, those things tend to be easy enough to fidget around. I'm more intrested in finding a game that has a good feel to it. There's likely going to be a lot of combat, and I think that it should feel pretty concrete and immediate instead of heavy and abstract. Some "oomph" to it, so to...

You could try GURPS, it's combat is really good if you use the full rules and fits what you're looking for, and it has enough flexibility to handle literally everything else very well. 3e even has a good Vikings book for it.
Only problem is you would have to learn how to DM GURPS, which is actually challenging.
>>46692626
Song of swords
>>46692898
Does SoS actually, I mean *actually* improve on TROS and fix the problem areas (basically, everything but dueling) of the system? I haven't really looked into it.
What does it do to fix the game?
Whats worse the Skrull or Genestealer cults?

What systems have good rules for chases?
What system has the best?
How do you do them well in other systems?
What non-gameplay things (e.g. RP, storytelling) make them better/more fun?
Unknown Armies had a decent set of chase rules, although they were mostly for vehicular stuff, and were sorta loose/abstract as is the general style of the system.
Shadowrun also has Chase Combat, but once again that's vehicle based and it is clunky as fuck.
>>46685369
my advice if you want to run a chase scene, be it on foot or in vehicle, is keep the mechanics simple. The whole point is for it to be fast paced, moreso than normal combat, so do that. Run it as a minimalist normal combat with the addition of the occasional maneuver roll to gain on or lose foes. It honestly is mostly in the descriptions you make, not the rolls themselves.
>>46685369
You know, I never actually had a chase happen.
D&D 4e skill challenges are supposedly good for chases, but it never came up. Savage Worlds also has some chase rules, as does Strike!
I'm dying to make a setting like Treasure Planet, 17/18th century, the age of sailing recycled in space.
It's really easy to imagine the colonial powers in space but I want a deeper lore.
Are you guys up for some brainstorming?
Please
What, specifically, are you hung up on?

Try Rogue Trader.
Greetings, fellow fa/tg/uys!
Endless Legend is a great 4X game, but in the game itself we are given only the bare minimum of the setting. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xD9UkJQAiw)
I think EL would make a kickass setting for a tabletop game, but the setting has to be expanded upon before it's remotely playable.
So, how about we start fleshing out our EL heancanon right here and now? Answer my questions, or ask your own!
My questions (i'll post them in packs):
The Dust (ancient nanomachines)
> How pervasive is it, exactly? Is it present in the bodies of the commoners?
> How do the alchemists and mages interact with Dust? How do they "feed" commands into it without having acess to Endless machinery?
> Sure, the big states use Dust as an exchange medium. What about common folk? Do they use Dust as well, or do the various states use Dust-equivalent coins for small transactions?
>>46695645
> Is there an Auriga-encompassing Dust-network?
> The Enldess sure have lef a lot of junk on Auriga. What kind of mechanisms do the locals encounter often?
>>46695645
> Sure, the big states use Dust as an exchange medium. What about common folk? Do they use Dust as well, or do the various states use Dust-equivalent coins for small transactions?
Perhaps everyone uses some sort of command that causes Dust to congeal into convienient coins or at least small cubes?
I think it would be the best to treat Dust as the magical currency it is described as in the game. As far as I know the whole Endless thing and their machinery is a mystery to the common folks.

Pretty sure beholder pregnancies work like this.
Once in its lifetime, a beholder has an instinctive urge to gorge itself and patrols its territory with special ferocity, because in a few months, a womb/eggsac in the back of its mouth will swell up with young.
Eventually it gets so large that the beholder can't even eat or see out of its main eye, rendering it especially paranoid and pissed off.
Then, it bites the womb off, and watches it intently. The young inside chew their way out and...

Let's play Santorini!
The game I'm about to start will be named 'Thunder'. That mean's if you respond to this game write 'Thunder' at the top of the comment box so people know which game you are playing and people can easily find it using ctrl+f -> thunder. If you want to start your own game just give it another name.
This game will be without Gods. I'll be the first player, Player A. You'll be Player B. I'll place my builders, then you will, then we'll start. You can copy the below layout I'm using....

I assumed most people were aware of this game due to the recent hype. The rules are fairly simple.
>Setup
Begin by placing your two Builder pawns on the board. Your opponent then does the same.
>Playing the Game
Players take turns, starting with the player who first placed their Builders. During your turn, you must perform a Move Action, then a Build Action.
-Move Action - Move one of your Builders into an unoccupied Neighboring...

The Warrior is flashing his brightest smile, in front of a jug of beer roughly as big as his own head.
The Tavern is desolate as usual, there’s no one around besides you, the Warrior, the Priest, and the Innkeeper, who had just served the Warrior his drink.

You breathe a sigh of relief. The dude blocking the entrance is simply to big and too strong to be dealt with on your own.
“Good, let’s leave when you’re done with your beer”
“You mean right now”, the Warrior responds.
“No I mean…”
You have no time to finish the sentence.
The Warrior raised the beer jug above his head and is gulping it down in one swing.
After a few minutes, he slams it down and gasps for air.
“See… told you… we’re leaving now”
“That...

Do you always have a BBEG in your campaign? Or is it possible, or even preferable, to play a campaign without a BBEG?

Anyone here have some awesome, unique ideas for fantasy races? I'm tired of plain old Elf, Dwarf, Halfling. I know people are always trying to innovate on these options and I'm curious what ideas you all have come up with, for homebrew games or your own settings, etc.
>>46691521
I'm tired of constant shitty attempts to make things different, usually by way of making the races either stupid or a shallow stereotype of a historical society.
>>46691545
Totally agreed. I was hoping someone might have come up with some legitimately unique races that aren't just a caricature of a historical society or NotElves.
>>46691521
I just do humans and nothing else. I've never found non-human species to be necessary.

Have you ever snuck references into your game stealthily /tg/?
I once had the players get transported onto an enemy vehicle pretending to be prisoners. They were wearing hoods until an ally vehicle started attacking. That was the signal for them to break out and they started wreaking havoc on the mooks inside. They eventually crashed the transport and managed to escape, but everyone else including their allies died in the fight. It wasn't until way later in the game that one of them realized Ihad them reenact the plane scene
>>46688118
I'm the only player in my group who's had a good deal of non-videogame experience with the fantasy genre. I rip off scenes from books and movies they don't know anything about all the time.
I once inserted a massively powerful DMPC self-insert who could pull powers out of his ass to save the party at every opportunity. It's only later that they realized I stole fromLiterally every shonen manga ever produced ever.
>>46688118
The Orcs in my setting are suicidal followers of their Messianic figure and will gladly employ tactics like igniting themselves on fire or suicide charges/bombings against both military and civilian targets. They also employ chariots which they customize with spikes, skulls, bones and other paraphernalia. They're basically the Brotherhood of Nod with some War Boys mixed in.
Constructs dozens of different patterns for different armies, sisters of bolter. Imperial guard. Space marines and various other smaller factions.
Wonders why its losing the tech to do so.
Why isn't the imperial guard supplied with rhinos and predators as a replacement for the lemruss and their respected transports or vice versa.
The Sisters of Battle 90% use the same models of vehicles are marines.
I mean, the Immolator is a very slight variant of a space marine Vehicle and both the Repressor and Exorcist are built on the Predator Chassis.
>>46687238
Yeah. Why doesn't the imperial guard use the same?
>>46687245
guard vehicles are better than vehicles based on the rhinos chassis.
Greetings Agents,
Following the last few weeks of hectic activity it seems the market has slowed down. It's been to nice to have a few days to recover.
But the easy times don't ever last, do they?
While Accounting settles with Mr. Wonglei (Something about missing swords and property damage?) I've got a little side deal lined up for you. I'm sure it'll be nothing major, just simple missing persons case.
I've recieved a missive from-- let's call them Head Blue - who insist that he knows that we're keeping a feral...

Also, who's got controlling interests in that area of the camp?

Well Agent Roma, I had a look at the availabe information.
It appears Teralin is the relative of one of the UNSC higher ups. Here on some research project about mythos formation in displaced populations, interviewing the refuges mostly. War experience and stories. Other cases were youngsters, gangers, relief workers. Only connection is the geographic area.
As for who has controlling interest? Gangs, I think. Blackwaters. It was the UNSC, but that was years ago and by now the entire situation's...

Since there's no real interest tonight, we'll try this some other time.
