Too soon for a Force of Will thread? Too bad I'm making one anyway.
I know some anons play this and I was wondering if buying sealed product is worth it or if I'm better off buying singles when it comes to common and uncommon cards.
Also are the Valhalla Cluster cards even worth tracking down?
And I guess we can speculate about how the prices of Grimm cluster cards are going to drop when it rotates.

>I was wondering if buying sealed product is worth it or if I'm better off buying singles when it comes to common and uncommon cards.
Really depends on what prices you're being asked to pay for the singles. If someone is asking like $2+ for an Elvish Priest and you can get CMF packs for $3 you may as well just crack some. But most commons/uncommons don't even break 50cents so buying packs to hunt them isn't economical.

Thanks for the help, are box ratios usually fairly consistent or can they be all over the place? Like if I want a play set of every card in a set should I crack a couple of boxes or just straight out buy it?
>>46800900
I've heard box ratios are pretty consistent, but the general price of cards is much cheaper than the price of sealed product. Except in rare cases where a common is worth several dollars (so Elvish Priest), you're just better off buying singles because the secondary market is so devalued.
How do you guys make mountain adventuring interesting?
How do you design mountain maps?
Is this even possible?
>>46797822
bumperoony
>>46797822
You could make those mountains maddening.
Include high-altitude townships, lots of ruins and old monasteries, or altars to ancient things long forgotten. Perhaps even an entrypoint upon the highest peak to another realm entirely.
Caves, mines, crags, hidden valleys, places of significance set upon high mountain peaks... There's actually a lot of potential in a mountainous setting.
I have yet to do it, but I want to build a serious mountain-scaling adventure in D&D.
You'd have to kind of model out the mountain/range and get real particular about what it looks like, it's elevation, treeline/snowline, etc. Decide what kinds of climb/balance/whatever DC's for various elevations or rockfaces, and determine the various routes the PC's could climb. If they can fly, determine the wind currents (is it suddenly much stronger in some areas? does it gust every once in a while?). How much colder is it at the various elevations? At night?...

>this isn't "just a bow", you dumbass city dweller!
>this is an Aldamiel mk-16 "Takedown" deciduous 60lb hunting bow
>with reinforced elk gut string for maximum situational responsiveness and strategic operationality!
>>46797586
What about a bow with a burning torch strapped to it to aid in dark environments, and a bayonet for close-combat situations?
Plus a small quiver built into the bottom of the bow for faster reloading.
>>46797586
Nice string discipline faglord
>>46797686
That's adding too much weight to the bow. It's a rookie mistake to purchase too many addons with your first paycheck and wind up with a weapon to cumbersome for extended use.
I've been working on building a game for like three years now, and i love telling people about it. Ask away, /tg/!

forgot to mention there's like 77 playable races and 30-something classes
Would you say you're high-functioning or low-functioning autistic?
>30 classes
Why not just go classless and be done with it?
Is there a reason why the sides of a d6 are arranged in that specific way?
>>46797223
Opposing sides add up to 7
>>46797223
opposite sides sum to 7.
choose an arbitrary side as the 6 (opposite is 1)
The choice for 5 (and thus 2) is similarly arbitrary due to radial symmetry
The first and only choice is whether to have 4-3, or 3-4, a choice no one would even notice, and it itself is a reflection.
it's a bit more complex on larger dice, because choices are non-trivial to distribute values evenly.
>>46797223
Opposing sides always add up to 7.
After that, there only ends up two orientations you can put the dice faces in. The two formats are called clockwise or counterclockwise, depending on how the 1-2-3 faces are oriented. The two are mirror-images of each other, and there are no other ways to orient the die while still following the first sentence.

sounds mary Sue.
Why is he offended? Is it just obvious to everyone and he's resentful, or did someone point it out?
>the BBEG, a man of his word, offers to make you rich beyond your wildest dreams

What would you do, /tg/?
My current character is LE, but loyal to his allies. He considers them good friends. Hell he met his wife because of one of them.
>>46796680
Say no, obviously. Material wealth is pretty low on my character's list of priorities.
>>46796680
Nah. If we kill him, his riches will be ours anyway.
Consider the katana.
Consider the birds!

Consider the puppy!
Consider sudoku.
So their making a dark souls board game. Actually looks pretty cool and could be fun with some mates. It's a shame other video game series don't release board game versions, I would love a bioshock or fallout board game.
What do you think?
I'm disappointed that they went for a generic dungeon crawler, but I kinda love the minis.
>>46795250
>It's a shame other video game series don't release board game versions, I would love a bioshock or fallout board game.
Halo just released a 15mm wargame with some great minis. Spartan Games is handling it, so the rules will be pretty decent. They've also already got a fleet game out as well.
>>46795250
Me and a friend both want a copy, so I'm thinking of scraping together the extra $58 now, giving it all to my LGS in advance, and making a deal with them for 4 copies. (using their vendor licence)
This is your party's next random encounter.
>>46795240
Oh no, azhdarchid pterosaurs! Whether on land or in the sky, they're faster than you. Guess we can't run, just have to stand our ground and fight.

What is this bastard children of Tarrasque and Cliff Racers?

No problem.

>>46794651
Does that mean I was the BBEG's ship? Or out of game the DM's been shipping the BBEG and me? Is the literal narrative vehicle ship a metaphor for the figurative narrative relationship shipping? Is this the DM's way of telling me something, or am I overanalyzing the situation and the DM's just shit and doesn't know what the fuck he's doing?
>The ship was inside you the entire time. The campaign just gave you the confidence you needed to believe in yourself.
So it's pretty commonly believed on /tg/ that 3.5/Pathfinder spellcasters (specifically wiz/sorc) are OP as fuck, primarily because their spell list is broken.
On the other end, I've been hearing here and there that the Psionics "casting" classes are pretty balanced, and if not balanced they're at least better balanced than normal spellcasters.
So this got me thinking... how viable would it be to basically replace the wiz/sorc spell list with the psion power list, making thematic adjustments where necessary? Has anyone ever tried something like this?
They're still bad, just not as bad. Really, at this point, don't even worry about something being OP and instead try to look at tiers. Yes, a psion is weaker than a wizard. But they're still a few tiers higher than the rogue, so if somebody wants to play a martial in the group with a psion, he should play a martial of the same tier.
The psion power list is broad enough to replace wizards pretty easily, but you'll have to adjust for the lack of divine spells/casters.
Closest thing I have done is take out a list of spells and either removed them or made them rituals of some sort.
WAs a lot of work and was never satisfied with the results. Had to accept the fact to either ban some spells, classes or options , move on to another system or accept the janky mess and do the best a dm could do to mediate the disaster.
>>46794140
Are there any good story times of an all caster party? Or is it just s.s. nofun because casters can do anything they want anywhere at any time?
Why is a powerful ritual in fantasy or some super weapon in sci-fi always demonstrated by shooting a laser into the sky? What is the purpose of this? Does the laser just keep on going into space? Does it fizzle out embarassingly once it reaches the clouds? What is the practicality of this?
>pic related is the only time I've actually seen it come close to being rationalised
>And it's fucking the Phantom Menace, jesus christ
Why does radiation in sci-fi give you superpowers instead of cancer
Why does magic make your eyes glow
Why does a kingdom with a dragon problem build castles designed to only protect against grounded opponents
Why does OP make pointless threads instead of contributing to improving the board

It's possible that one or both of us might have died, but it's impossible to be sure, since we avoided the encounter.
We were a party of two, and it was my character's watch. The other party member was asleep.
During my watch I saw a troll begin to rise from the water.
Neither me nor my one fellow party member were capable of acid or fire damage at the time, so we would have had no way to cancel it's regeneration if we had fought it.
My character being so not okay with this shit, raised...
