Fuck it, I'm bored. Anyone want to help me make a character background with this thing?

Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you fought a disciple and launched an invasion of R'lyeh.
It is currently the 30th of Svarthi, in the year 936 NH.

You shoot a bolt of flame along Zahak's side, the scales on his neck rattling contentedly. {Why don't you help Mahana's servants. Torch the creatures wielding spears. I want to perform a little experiment upon the disciple.}
There's a vague impression of his agreement, and then he leaps into the air. The throne room is large enough that he can freely circle about the ceiling without worrying about colliding with anything, and the hallway wide enough to accommodate his wingspan. You can't help but feel a tinge of pride as your son swoops down upon...

In the interest of expediency you cut your attempts to leech the man's vys short. Taking a seat on the coral floor, you assume a meditative pose and skip the usual process of gathering ambient vys. You only have so much time available, the spirit could return at any moment and you'd like to be ready when it does. Forgoing the process of restoring your depleted husk, you allow yourself to sink into a trance. Becoming sufficiently detached from your mortal form requires more time than you'd necessarily like, but it's necessary for any sort of fine manipulation...

Channeling Earth magic, you create a blade from your will and begin to carve into the spirit of the rival disciple. Unlike the bandit who you previously dissected, carving through the soul of a disciple is incredibly difficult. You think their souls are, for lack of a better word, denser than the souls of most other mortals. However, the blade jammed into the disciple's core seems to have created a soft spot in its soul through which you're able to work.

What do you guys think about Redwall, I remember really liking the books when I was younger and played with the idea of making a 5th edition DnD game based in the setting. (Races Reskinned) However I think the stigma of being seen as a furry is turning players off the idea. Have furries really ruined this setting or is it still possible to enjoy and use?
They aren't really furry IMO. Look at Mouseguard as a start.
>>46823014
Just say from the start that you don't want any weird sex stuff and that should be that.
>>46823014
It's wholly possible to have a Redwall game. You might want to try and avoid some of the pitfalls of the series to have a more complex game for adults - namely the black and white morality that borders on racism (all vermin are evil). That being said, I think that keeping the heroic tone is important. Just because you add in complexity is no reason to to grimdark it up.
I disagree with >>46823092 , however. Mouseguard is a fantastic series and a great game,...

How do we solve the human problem?
>>46822540
We can't, there's too many of them.
Your name is Amy Nakamura, a 17 year old void Oni, and you’re fairly certain you aren’t supposed to feel so alive after disarming a gunman. Matter of fact, a rational (human) part of your brain reminds you that you should probably be terrified, or at least worried about Trish. Yeah, the latter thing makes a lot more sense, you’re a badass. You shake your head side to side quickly, you need to stop thinking like that, it’ll get you killed.
“You alright? You look a bit… I dunno, shaken up?” Trish asks as she struggles to keep pace with your longer strides....

Rules: Votes are given a 10-15 minute voting period (This is not a hard time limit), the dice used are 3d10s and the occasional d100 both are best of three. I try to add write-ins to the post if they’re applicable to the situation, shitposting write-ins will be ignored unless they are genuinely funny and can be added.
Try to have fun!

Is a two-stroke motor driven sword more, or less dumb than the gunblade of FF6?
Also, stat this weapon because reasons. Let me know what system you're using -- I only ever play 4E even when my party switched to Pathfinder

Did you mean FF7?
6 was the one with Kefka.

FF8 was the one with gunblades. FF7 was the one with Sephiroth
Also, isn't this basically a Sawzall?

“What do you mean, 'What am I doing here?'? The answer is simple, I am sleeping with my husband.” Laura says with force in her voice.
“The door was locked. Just how did you get in here?” Cecilia asks, annoyance and frustration coloring her voice.
You look up to see Cecilia and Laura arguing upright on the bed. It really is too early for this.

You take a good look at the figure floating in front of your group. The 'Rabbit Goddess', Kaguya Ootsutsuki. She looks imposing enough, but you use your Sage senses and come to truly understand your situation.
This woman's chakra dwarfs even Madara's. You can scarcely imagine such a powerful being existing. And you all have to seal her away. You notice the face in her sleeve again. Black Zetsu, it seems. Apparently the mastermind behind this whole plot.
You see veins rise up around Kaguya's...

As someone with a roughly 50/50 split in their GMing/player career, I can say that I enjoy many types of adventuring sequences in fantasy RPGs.(I also tend towards more outright heroic, high powered, high fantasy in general.)
I like investigation, be it of murders or cosmic mysteries. I like intrigue and infiltration, including heists.
I like politics that are presented intuitively. I like establishing rapport with NPC friends.
I like a good, tactically engaging combat.
I like exploration, both urban and wilderness. I like uncovering grand secrets and relics from...

tl;dr
>>46821782
tl;dr how do you make dungeon crawls more interesting than death-making xp-full lootboxes?
Ultimately a dungeon is probably going to be an affair where a group is going room to room dealing with whatever is in said room to progress.
You can implement the best design you can and have more than just random hack and slash combat and death traps everywhere, but.
Ultimately though it's still going to be an affair where a group is slowly exploring an area for whatever reason.
Storytime? Storytime!
This is the story of the first quest my players had in my Pathfinder game. They're all part of the same guild, a guild for adventurers.
The four players are
K, a middle aged woman who claims to be nothing more than a housewife and is a sword 'n board martial artist who is in the guild to protect the younglings
P, a young alchemist who joined the guild to have opportunities to learn more about all the beasts of the world so he can make his beastly mutagens more efficient and effective
R, a half-orc from a tribe of orc...

Everyone heads to the guild hall, with K making a point to get there first. She sits in a chair in the corner and waits patiently for the rest of the group to greet them with a warm, motherly smile and to exchange pleasantries. Everyone talks for a while, introducing themselves and giving a brief explanation why they've joined the guild before P examines the room for what to do next. The room itself consists of a range of chairs capable of accommodating all sized races, big and small, with a central wooden desk in the back. On the desk, P found another letter on the desk...

The actual walk was rather uneventful until they set up camp for the night. R and R2 hunt for food in the nearby wilderness, and R manages to find a birds nest with five eggs while R2 finds several berry bushes. With enough food, they manage to avoid cutting into their rations, for the first day at least. K cooks the eggs for everyone, while the boys shoot the shit. When they lay down for the night, P decides he wants to sleep in a tree rather than on the ground. K, worrying for his safety, sleeps underneath him...

The only one to notice before the wolves attack is K, who immediately wakes up everyone else by slamming her shield and sword together to make more than enough noise to rouse everyone else, and almost enough to startle P out of his tree and onto the dirt. The noise doesn't scare off the wolves, but it does wake up R just in time for him to roll away from a wolf that had poked its nose inside his tent and was about to snap its jaws on his throat. In the ensuing battle, none of our heroes manage to get a single...

Got a hypothetical for you, /tg/. It's the 40k universe and Mars.....is gone.
Fucking destroyed, nothing of value left, no hope of rebuilding it beyond just starting from scratch. How or why this happened is no important, all I'm asking is what would then happen to the Imperium.
Now don't just say "Imperium fucked.", go into some detail. Just how fucked would they be? Could other forgeworlds even attempt to pick up the slack? What designs would be permanently lost? How screwed would the Imperial supply system be? Could they even maintain...

your primary mistake was assuming that once such a technology exists, the economy would be recognizable in any way, shape, or form.
you just, in one stroke, removed mortality in any reasonable way, created a post-scarcity society, and resolved every physical differentiator between people.
our entire civilization as we know it would crumble and be reborn in the space of a few short years.
