How do I deal with a powerplayer at my table as a DM? What's your way to deal with these kind of guys?
>>48205502
A firm no followed by a friendly chat. Explain you're looking for a more relaxed game environment and don't want to make everyone optimize everything to stay on an even footing.
That or spray with a squirt bottle every time they start thumbing through splatbooks
>>48205502
As long as they're not ruining the fun of others I'll let them do their thing. If they are interfering with the others' fun I'll talk to them. If that doesn't work I'll subtly change my encounters so that they counter the powerplayers but not the normal players or just straight up kick them if I deem that it's not worth trying to fit them into the group.
>>48205502
Making combat encounters counter them to give them a challenge will result in them whining about it being too hard.
Talking with them about it might lead to them laying off their habit, or at least working towards doing so, or them getting angry since they can't see what they're doing wrong and blame you for not catering to their needs.
Throwing them out will remove all your problems but may or may not lead to you finding a "That DM" thread later on an online anime imageboard with a story...

Can "approaches" from Fate Accelerated ever be salvaged, or are they rubbish compared to traditional skills from Fate Core and "modes" from the Fate System Toolkit and Atomic Robo?
To me, it seems that Fate Accelerated's approaches strongly encourage narrow-mindedly using your best approach for everything. This is easiest if that approach is Clever, because the book defines Clever in such a vague and all-encompassing way that it could apply to virtually anything with minimal effort. Every character might as well be an Ozymandias ripoff who performs...

In my opinion, approaches are shit. Useless, minddumbing, counterroleplaying shit.
>>48204805
Jadepunk actually had a good way to deal with approaches: they named the approaches after D&D-esque "classes" and they work more like broad skill categories instead FAE's standard approaches. They're much more clearly defined, and none of them are as vaguely universal as fucking Clever.
Other alternatives (mix and match at your discretion):
1) simply accepting that being creative enough to always use your highest approach was kind of intentional (which, I gotta admit, IS bullshit).
2)...

There is also the option of making rolls depend on two approaches at once, only one of which is picked by the player.
How much blood would you drink to get into character?
Silly anon, the proper question is "how much blood HAVE you drunk".
Also that pic looks fake as fuck.
>>48204706
Depends on the setting.
>>48204706
All the blood.
How do you deal with encumbrance /tg/? Track it diligently? Eyeball it? Don't' give fuck at all?
>>48201836
I like to track it. Nobody else I have played with seems to share my views. Fuck them.
>>48201836
I treat as a big deal for gritty systems or low level / non-magical campaigns.
Any setting or system that has bags of holding, though, I usually just toss a few out early on and not bother with it.
So it depends on the feel of the game, basically.
I ignore it unless it seems like one player has their character carrying far too much.
So since the advent of the Internet and it becoming a part of the everyday person's life, I've noticed that "mass games," or games where there are more than a handful of people, are common adaptations of tabletop RPG's.
A lot of them have things like world building techniques where there are wikis, and you can post your character, and so on.
However, there are no games I've seen that were *designed* for this purpose. That is, there are no games where this is just a fact of the game in its original text, as opposed to some kind of adaptation.
So to this end, can we have a thread for such games? Examples of what I'm going for might be roleplaying games designed as:
* MU*'s,
* Wiki world building exercises,
* "Augmented reality" stuff,
* etc
You mean games where a wiki is required?
That sounds unnecessary.
>>48203518
I mean games designed specifically for an Internet medium, like a wiki or a forum. Tabletop RPG's were designed for sitting around someone's kitchen table and rolling dice. All online variations of them are just that. Are there games that are intended to be played online?
You mean, PbP?
Would you play pic related /tg/? As a DM would you allow a character combo like this?
>>48200448
If its two different people playing the characters sure.
>>48200448
Pretty much every group I've ever played in I was an elf-raping, leg-chopping off son of a bitch
>>48200448
i had a DM let me play an orc and another guy play a gnome caster who sat on my back.

I guess that's why he's chaos?
>>48200050
This anon again. I'll concede that Cao Cao was the fucking master of JUST AS PLANNED but his whole philosophy was imposing order (albeit, HIS order) on a very chaotic and troubled nation.
Liu Bei, as I said, is the Lorgar. Just replace "muh gods" with "muh Han" and you get pretty much the same result. For all we know he may well have be a genuinely good man who wanted the best for the people but "the road to hell..." and all that. That being said he was just as conniving...

So, I've been wanting to learn more about the White Scars, but I can't find much reading material on them. I know about Scars, but is there anything else out there that's obtainable? Short story, novel, or otherwise.
Index astartes was a white dwarf feature that focused on the history and background of a different chapter each month during the 90's (iirc?) - they were collected into books which you could buy through black library too (not sure if theyre still in print)
Someone will have a scan of the whitescars section somewhere.

The prequel and sequels to Scars. Brothers of the Storm, Brotherhood of the Moon, and Path of Heaven.

They are probably the least popular loyalist space marines. There's not much on them.

Tell me about the Vampires in your setting, /tg/.
>>48195583
Why was this comic so homo-erotic?
>>48195583
They're blood drinkers as you would expect, and weak to light.
The twist to them is very minor; a vampire cannot go to Heaven or Hell. Once you become one, you are denied the afterlife. Nothing awaits a vampire but oblivion.

Created througha virus from a previously incurable disease. It also has the nifty effect of giving you psychic powers like telekinesis and flight and regeneration!
Me and a group of friends have decided to play some D&D together, however, none of us is really experienced with the DM role. We'd like to know some of your tips and tricks to improve our experience.

Use quick reference rules tables or at least bookmarks for core mechanics pages.
Nothing slows down play like having to check the index for some obscure rule.
Post an image that looks like a game or setting you'd like to run.
Others, suggest a game or setting for said images.

Hey, Sibella Quest!

No, it is a derivative work.
