Are they?
2 warlock, 18 sorcerer:
Quickened Spell Eldritch Blast, with the invocation, and 20 CHA
That's 8d10+40 damage, 48-120 damage per round, average: 84 damage, and you can do it more times per day than action surge.
Without quickened spell, you deal 4d10+20 damage, or 42 damage on average.
Is there a non caster build that can beat that for damage, both peak and sustained?
Do you plan to lv 20? Should you?
>>47218728
Ooops, sorry, I neglected Hex. Add in an extra 8d6 damage on the quickened spell, and an extra 4d6 damage on sustained.
What major change did GW to Necrons? I am relatively new to 40k universe.
They're Tomb Kings in spess
>>47218008
Presuming you know the basic lore of the necrons at the time of dawn of war, judging from the used picture, the major changes are
-no more pariahs
-the necrons are not slaves of the c'tan, instead the necrons broke the c'tan into shards and imprisoned/weaponised them
-instead of exterminating life to feed the c'tan, the necrons have the intention of rebuilding their empire to its former glory, conquer the rest of the galaxy and exterminate/enslave anyone who fights back
-the biotransference...

They were "EXTERMINATE ALL LIVING THINGS" faction. The only interesting thing about them were hints about how they set up a setting for others.
Then, Matt Ward made them Tomb Kings in space: undead, soulless, but still willing to communicate... sometimes, when they don't feel like reclaiming the galaxy from lesser species.
I like this change. Many others don't. Skub must flow.
What happens when two chainswords clash edge-to-edge?
Baby chain swords, and awkwardness between the owners.

Some metal looking imagery fit for an album cover.
Describe the average life of an Imperial citizen
A pointless, insignificant detail in a nonsensical world built around selling toys.
Soviet Russia
Probably pretty decent, actually. Hive worlders have it kinda shit and working on a forgeworld probably sucks, but you really don't have to worry much about xenos or heretics, honestly. Galaxy is fucking huge, most probably go througj their lives without seeing much in the way of bad shit.
The ones that do, though.....hoo boy....
We are a level 4 party and our DM gave
us the mission to kill a green dragon,
Any idea to survive?

lure it into a trap
My group had exactly that encounter a few months ago, just with no warning (we rocked up to the ruined town it was in from the wrong direction and told it to suck a dick when it demanded respect). We killed it with no casualties and pretty terrible tactics, play it smart and you should be okay.
Just went to buy some recast 40k minis after years of not buying anything from Jew-Workshop, only to find them all closed down. What recasters are used nowadays, which ones are cheapest and best quality?
There's a leddit dedicated to this, you can find catalogue and some older emails on it, but they still use them

Last time on Song of Swords:
Ballad Lore (Zells!)
Chevauchee gets some feedback, /sos/ style (we ripped it to pieces)
Jimmy launches off into another pointless side project. Get the popcorn lads.
Song of Swords is a realistic fantasy tabletop RPG that draws inspiration from historical fechtbuchs, weapons and armor. Its combat system is fast and it can be used for both fantasy and historical/mundane settings.
Call of the Void is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.
Here's a .rar archive with the newest version of the rules as well as all related current working documents. At this time the latest version is v1.9.9:

There's also a roll20 room where new players are encouraged to try the rules, test new rules, and find game breaking issues: https://app.roll20.net/join/346755/hRKd4w
The room might be empty, but the people who teach the game still browse the thread frequently. If you're looking to learn, post here in the thread. We also play Guy Windsor's card game Audatia in the room.
The Legend will return, harder and stronger.

What's this new side project?
How is anyone still hype for SoS after all this time?

>Tamiyo being this best
Goddamnit, Wizards, stop writing your side characters as so much better than any of the Gatewatch members.
I'd much rather read about a team with Tamiyo as blue, Kiora as green, Elspeth as white, and Koth as red.
So what plane did Tamtam's frost song story come from? Kaldheim?
It was amazing to see Kamigawa and Mirrodin both being referenced in the same tale.

GURPS - Alternate dice edition
What do you think about playing GURPS with different dice? Like a d20 instead of 3d6, or d4+d6+d8 or Pyramid's Nontransitive Dice ideas?

>What do you think about playing GURPS with different dice?
Anathema to the core mechanical design; The entire purpose of the 3d6 roll under is to use the bell curve to its predictable outcomes.
It's like asking to play baseball with a pineapple. You theoretically could, but what would you gain from it?

The storms still raging around this patchwork monster of a ship, cannons are still firing, and screams still fill the night air. Hell I can barely hear myself think in the current volley of noise. Wind and rain blows against me, nearly blowing my cap off.
I yelp and hold it down, and glare up at our prisoner as he turns around with a glint in his eye.

"Yeah, it doesn't really matter, all that matters is that it is pretty cool" Ochamu says happily "it's like we're raiding a castle or something, I've always wanted to do something like this"
Me, Yotshi, jack and our prisoner all turn and tilt our heads, staring at the big girl as she turns away, her messy mane of hair covering her eyes as she starts blushing furiously, pulling her cap down as she whimpers like a pup.

Have you ever been falsely accused of cheating?
Has your experience with a game or system ever made you look like a "tryhard"?
Has someone's misinterpretation of the rules led to an awkward moment at the table?
Please share any stories you have!
>>47219927
One time I was accused of cheating on my physics final in college. Not that I was copying other people's work, that I was colluding with other students around me to allow them to copy my work. I didn't even know or talk to these people but apparently they were copying my answers without my knowledge. I demanded a hearing and was exonerated after one of the cheaters came in and confessed his guilt.
>>47220098
While that sucks, it's good that one of them came forward.
My friends had a big falling out in college because friend A let friend B copy his answers, but when it came to the final friend B wouldn't let friend A copy because of the risk involved.
Personally, I think they're both pretty retarded, now.
Come to think of it, they were shitters in MtG, as well. They were really in to that whole stacked shuffling method.
>>47219927
Back when I played 3.5e there was a guy who called anyone who made sensible decisions about characters tryhards and munchkins.
If you build a character that's capable of surviving a single encounter at his level, you're a munchkin. He was pure 3d6-in-order, and was more about ideological purity than fun or results.
Basically Bernie Sadners.
>humans are considered one of the weakest races in fantasy games strength wise
>They don't know about how strong human nomad's/tribals were or know about the feats done by body builders
Anyone else sick of seeing this trope in fantasy games? Humans are fuck strong probably one of the strongest on Earth if training is done. Humans can be strong as gorillas if enraged enough to the point where people can flip cars or move boulders.
>Humans are fuck strong
Yeah, but a lot of fantasy races are stronger. HFY somewhere else.
>>47218942
>Humans can be strong as gorillas if enraged enough to the point where people can flip cars or move boulders.
Imagine what a gorilla sufficiently enraged could do.
Also, humans are rarely considered one of the "weakest" races. They're typically depicted as the base standard that the rest use as the measuring point, because they're the race we're most innately familiar with. A human with +0 strength and a Morxie with -2 strength is the same as a...

>>47218942
What? Considering elves, halflings, and gnomes are all weaker, Humans are at the average: I mean, how many races do you know of that can lift a fucking automobile?
If a boxy Dreadnought gets knocked down, can it get back up without assistance?
Nope, Dreadnaughts arms are too stubby for them to even achieve 45 degrees, let alone get off the ground
>>47205773
It could potentially get up by putting a fist on the ground and swiveling really fast.
Armless variants probably wouldn't be able to get up.
I mean, I know it's stupid to apply logic to the designs of 40k vehicles, but that seems like a huge flaw in their design. I'd assume they would have SOME kind of failsafe to pick them up when they fall down. Or minimally some kind of servitors accompanying them to help them up if they fall down.
