Out of your current players, who is the punching bag of the party?

IC - my PC (tough brawler, can take it).
OOC - the GM.
Typically the brick shit house with regeneration. He can take the hits and keep chugging along
He may also be a furry, jury is still out

Question: What kind of weird alien technology and space travelling races have you got running around your fantasy setting? Have your PCs ever travelled to other planets?
>What kind of weird alien technology and space travelling races have you got running around your fantasy setting? Have your PCs ever travelled to other planets?
There are aliens races on all the planets around earth and they're mostly devious. Players haven't made it there yet but aliens on earth are fucking with them. I'm thinking that at least some places like the moon will have breathable atmospheres and full on societies of weirdos.
I don't have my own setting yet, sadly. When I do, I'm sure there will be aliens in it.
Hey, /osr/, I know many of you prefer LL Advanced over S&W Complete. Why is that? Not trying to start our own "edition wars." Genuinely curious as I really am enjoying S&W Complete, considering buying the book, but if there are good reasons to choose LL instead, I'd rather know before I invest real money.
Someone asked about it last thread, so I'm reposting the right half of my frankensheet.
It's just LotFP's encumbrance being divided into base load (which is 5+STR with an additional +5 if dwarf) and encumbrance boxes with oversized items taking up a whole box (marked off by writing it down in the middle)
It's far from perfect, but I find it helped cut out the unnecessary description of how encumbrance works.

Anybody playing in any games on or around D-Day? My FLGS is running Firestorm: Overlord but I must admit I'm not that familiar with it. Anyone ever played it before?
>>47419100
Oversaw one, played two airborne missions recently. The rules are pretty simple, but it takes a lot of effort for the Defenders to win with the constant recycling of attacking troops. If the Attacker knows what they're doing reasonable, they can easily score a 4-3.
>>47419100
Never played a FIrestorm campaign, but I have played a D-Day game themed around Juno Beach two years ago.
We'd set up the table on june 5th with three of us together, pooling our collections.
The two other guys played that day, resulting in a German win.
On the next day, I played another round against the German player.
In that game, some less-effective defensive placement allowed my AVsRE to move up fairly safely on one flank, breaching fortification after fortification and pushing into the hinterlands supported by infantry even though my Shermans were getting stuck on the soft sands of the beach.
The StuGs trying to reinforce made things a bit scary for a few turns, but the breach in the coastal defenses was already too big at that point.
It was a lot of fun, with some interesting mechanics and a very different feel compared to regular FoW games.
Sweet, sweet banespammer tears edition.

I'm not disagreeing with you -- your general point is that ranged jack spam doesn't do as much damage as one would hope (at least, that's how I read it), and it just so happens that an obvious target (and a melee jack that's going to get spammed) is impervious to it.
I think Harkevich is going to run better spamming melee jacks, whether Mad Dogs, Marauders, or Juggernauts. Mobility + Reposition is a nice bit of support for a melee jack, because going full ranged...

If jackspam is gonna be the new meta then bane thralls still have a purpose. Jacks don't get enough attacks against them and bane thralls still eat armor for breakfast.
>>47522551
That is, unless you drop them into ranged-heavy jack spam, which is what Cygnar will most likely run.

Caliban is, essentially, fantasy Australia.
Don't you mean Catachan
>>47514588
No. Look at all the fucked up mutated wildlife on Caliban, it's totally Australia.
>>47514434
Nah, Caliban was Fantasy Europe. Vast dark forests full of great beasts. Knightly orders. All that stuff.
Cretacia is probably closer to Space Australia.
Well, do you?

What a retard.
>>47501886
I don't mind mana weaving ad a superstitious ritual, as long as it's not actually done in front of the opponent and keeps them waiting. If it makes you feel better, and you sufficiently shuffle after, I don't mind if you do it before the tournament, or if you finished your game and the other people are still playing, but if your opponent is sitting in front of you, don't waste his damn time with that shit.
I need help with an idea, /tg/.
I've been making a campaign focused around a newly discovered mountain that is easily the biggest mountain in the world, and it's acting as the new frontier for the world.
Deep within the mountain is the "Heart of the Mountain", a large artifact that everyone that knows about it wants to control it.
The problem is, I don't know what to do with the "Heart of the Mountain" to make it worth going to war for. So far, the mountain is infested by goblins, new settlers coming in, and has an abyssal...

Energy is always worth fighting over. Maybe have it be a limitless source of energy since it draws from the planet's geothermal reserves.
It gives control over the Elemental plane of Earth.
It quadriples all stats of a being, turning them into super-%speciesname%.
It is guarded by a shitload of dragons, they don't tell why is Heart important but it should be reeeeally powerful if even dragons sacrifice themselves to protect it.
It's STC, or piece of alien technology that allows to control other mechanisms left by aliens/Predecessors.
Powerful enough?

FIRST FOR THE PIMPMARINES!
>I2 orks
So I've never played a game of 40k, but I know the fluff a bit. I'm a bit confused as to how they balance armies vs the armies they are specifically fluffed against. An example of what I wanna know is how do they balance Grey Knights vs the daemons they are apparently so good at killing.

"Nine point six seconds," Master Roshi announces. "Now, Tofoo, do you think this means that eight point eight is the fastest you can do?"
"Of course not!" You tell him. "One day, I'll be even faster than you are!"
Master Roshi laughs. "That's the spirit! Now, do you boys understand?"
"Yes, master!" Krillin and Goku say together.
"Good," Master Roshi says. "We'll work on applying...

Do you call yourself a geek, why/why not?
No, because things like "geek" and "nerd" have lots of different meanings, and I don't like to be categorized as a certain type of person

How do you feel about people that identify as a geek/nerd?

Marines having the same BS as the most elite regular humans makes perfect sense, honestly.
Less sense is veteran marines having essentialy the same statline, and of course this idea that there's anything wrong with scouts having WS/BS 3. The average marine scout is explicitly -not- as experienced as a schola progenium graduate.
Where do space marine tanks come from?Surely they don't always use thunderhawk transporters...
