>Spirit of the Law over the Letter of the Law
Can a paladin follow this and not fall?
>>47704043
You can fall either way.
>>47704043
If your DM is shit then yes. He'll probably make it happen anyway.
>>47704043
sometimes the hardest thing for a paladin to do is to do nothing. sometimes that is what is needed to preserve the peace.
I want to kill my group's DMPC.
The fucker is a half-gnome, half-aasimar druid with a juvenile T-rex Animal Companion. What can I use to drug this dino's food so as to take her out so the rest of us may have some hope of taking the druid out through sheer numbers?
>>47703564
Have you tried talking to your group, and getting everyone to talk to the dm about removing the dmpc?
Maybe even switching up who the dm is sometimes because dmpcs are mostly dms wanting to play for once.
Failing that, sounds like you're in some sort of 3pf hellhole, so just get the wizard to do it.
>>47703696
This is a group of new players and the DMPC is at this point a plot device/side quest. The cleric has been transferred from one diety to another (the DMPC's diety, who also hates the character) and tasked with finding a way to deal with him.
>>47703564
If the DM is that DM enough, you will fail
do not harbor any illusions that you can wrest away control from God.

What's the most ancient civilization in your setting /tg/?
Elves? Lizardfolk? Yuan-ti? Or is there something even more ancient than that?
Tell me about them. Why are they no longer around and what did they leave behind?
>>47702686
A race of humanoid bird people who worship the sun. They call themselves the firstborn, most other people call the the Ancients. They're still around, people had thought they were all dead until explorers on the far side of the world suddenly ran into their home continent now that naval technology's advanced enough to make it across the ocean.
They've got a lot of Egyptian influences, and while their technology is primitive compared to the "developed world," their understanding of...

Creatures with space age tech that were creatively named as Old Ones, which are basically not!Cthulhu-folk
>Why are they no longer around
They merged with their dying creator god in a attempt of healing it, which . . . wasn't very successful.
>and what did they leave behind?
Nearly everything basically, and with their departure all the other enslaved races (humans, elves, orcs and pals) fought for anything of them, since they are...

orcs
Demons got wind of The One True God's plan to uplift the apes, so they uplifted pigs first. Everything went pretty well for the orcs since demons are pretty open about mathematics and simple arcane knowledge. They would have exterminated humanity if God hadn't nuked them, turning their homeland into inhospitable desert.
And then the demon lords showed up since God was low on go juice and humanity had to get it's shit together REAL fast.
What races DON'T have a chaos equivalent? Why not?Why can't I have Slaanesh Orkz?
>>47702102
If Orks go for any Chaos god, it would be Khorne, due to both the constant fighting and the color red.
>>47702102
Orks canonically can't into Chaos.
>>47702149
They just want to make the perfect WAAAGH,,,
Has anyone ever used an hdtv as a table? The idea would be that I would use a 40-50" lcd tv put legs on it so that the top is the screen. I'd then use a PC or equivalent to display a picture that's the map etc.
I'm not good at art so I'm thinking this might be a great way to easily use maps off the internet or just piece together some in gimp.
I understand having a proper gaming table is preferred.
>>47701711
I think it could be cool, but I do not trust anyone (myself included) not to fuck it up. Make sure you have some thick glass on top of it.
There's potential, but it can go from "cool dynamic gaming table" to "broken piece of shit" instantly if you're not careful.
>>47704127
You just need some tempered glass. That stuff is strong as hell.
>>47704173
Very true. OP, you get a nice layer of tempered glass over that television and I could see this turning out very well.
When you RP in a setting like Warhammer 40k, which has serious situations like killing off entire worlds to stop a hive fleet and comedic ones like "Da red wunz go fasta!" do you like focus more on the serious aspects, the comedic ones, or both?
Never take yourself too seriously or risk falling into edgy territory. However, a grim and serious campaign usually provides the best or most memorable jokes when there's an unexpected moment of comedic relief to ease the tension.
>>47701330
Take a moment to remember just how grimdark the comedic things truly are.
Orks are truly terrifying when properly looked at as a regenerative, literally unstoppable mutant fungus that know only war and bloodshed as something classified as "Fun".
Easy Black Comedy.
This is a setting that has a planet full of Rambos,a cowardly commissar who is considered a hero and a daemon who constantly rides a motorcycle though hell. While at the same time is one of the scariest scifi settings to live in.
Hey guys! Anyone up for a civ game? I got a great scenario to play in.

A. Fortified March- Being so close to the frontier this town was settled by veterans of the imperial wars, when Angevar III gave land grants to soldiers in exchange for long service. Due to our large amount of access to good land, our town has excellent horsebreeding facilities and stables, supplying horses to the imperial army and many prominent noblemen.
Our town starts off with a medium wall, strong militia, balanced economy and a large farming community with good access to the imperial highway system.
Stats:
Military: Medium
Industry: Medium
Trade: Medium
Magic: None
Special- Most flexible, start with bonus food and population, a strong garrison and a large supply of horses.
B. Trade port- Access to sea lanes and the imperial highway system made us a center of trade in the eastern empire. We have shipbuilding facilities and a well developed trade port.
We also have a low wall and a well equipped but poorly diciplined militia.
Stats:
Military: Weak
Industry: Medium
Trade: Strong
Magic: None
Special- start with Caravan and trade ships that can go out for trade, gives excellent information gathering and wealth accumulation, a guild is based in your town, specializing in a craft of your choice.
C. Military Headquarters- Access to the highway and being a major settlement in the east, it was designated by Emperor Charles IV 200 years ago as the Shield of the eastern frontier. The fort has a large military forge and training ground, in addition to a large workshop, capable of constructing wagons, siege weapons and other things.
We have high, strong walls and a large military garrison. We also have 3 resident battlemages from the Imperial college of Karelia.
Stats:
Military: Strong
Industry: Weak
Trade: Weak
Magic: Weak
Special: Starts with a significantly larger army and military fleet than your neighbors, you are well fortified as well

What are the best systems for one-shots?
I have a player unable to make it tonight, so I figured we'd just sit around and have fun with a one-shot. But so many systems really don't work well unless it's for a campaign with character progression or more 'arcs', in my opinion.
What are some systems you've used with one shots that you really enjoyed?
Well if you want a less serious one, I really like Everyone is John.

I ran a Paranoia one shot. It was fantastic
We were in a lecture hall and I had the speaker playing the computers voice.
Character creation is simple. Roll 6 d20's and allocate those numbers. Pretty much done. Everything else is handed to them by the DM
Is this mechanic considered a failure?
>>47700902
No it's worked fine on a few cards. That particular one was just bad.
>>47700957
But there wasn't any of it in the last block and hasn't been any of it in this block.
>>47701251
So?
Everyt mechanic won't be in every set. That doesn't make it a failure.
Hey /tg/, how successful have you guys been at getting some tear jerk reactions from your players?
Stories are definitely welcome and am looking for some tips to bring to my group too.
Will bump with some art in the meanwhile
>You are one of three characters: Samson, a spoiled bard, Dyrus, an axe-wielding rebel's son, or Rene, an orphan adopted by a high-ranking Director of an ominous empire, now a prepromoted archer-lancer. POV will rotate between them on a thread-by-thread basis, with a HIGHLY unlikely chance that someone else might someday take a chapter.

'Marduk's gonna be so disappointed when he finds out,' Dyrus thinks to himself as he carries on through the battlefield. 'He even talked about Omar as one of his close friends, and he was doing the exact opposite of hurting anyone!' Still, though, Via's poor attempt at comforting does have a point, even if she thought she was accidentally only making it worse. It'd be selfish of him to whine over the one kindhearted Imperial he happened to have met and fought alongside personally. With the baelstorm disposed of with Kristina's warping...

I've never played a board game before, but a friend just sent me the video for how this one plays and I thought it'd be really cool.
https://youtu.be/yL2hngajqNs
Is this style of play fun? Or would it actually get repetitive after a while?
>>47699651
I think the boardgame could be fun, but honestly I backed for the miniatures. The game being good would be a nice bonus
>>47699788
There's no way those miniatures will look that good
>>47699858
What are the Guild Ball ones like?
Do you enjoy creating your own alphabets, with their own kind of rules, for your settings?like tolkien did
>>47699607
I used to, until I realized that all I was really doing was making substitution cyphers out of random symbols and got bored.
>>47699626
The point is going beyond the "leter A = leter 1". The fun stuff is making a new system to write the sounds of the language, and also new ways to arange those simbols.
For example cramp "c", "k" and "q" in one simbol. Or invent a different set of vowels. Or make the vowels little marks around the other letters.
>>47699766
My problem is that I do not know enough about languages to do that.
Who thought this is a good idea for a logo for a SWASHBUCKLING game? This is shit level logo. NATO copy+paste shit.
>>47698846
Eh, compass has been part of the logo since day one. Still prefer the old logo, though
>>47698846
7th Sea is not a swashbuckling game. Never was never will be. It has probably one of the slowest combat mechanics I have ever seen in an RPG. You can't play swashbuckling at snail pace.
