Hey /tg/ I need some help
my cousin has invited me to play dnd 5e but I'm more of a 2e kinda guy so I need some help building a character. Party so far is a paladin, a sorcerer and a rogue so I was thinking of making a cleric since i figure they could use some heals. Any idea how I can make a character that isn't woefully useless or otherwise a better class to fit in?
>>43099073
two words: dragonborn bard
>>43099121
can that be done with just core books and do I need any sort of special build?
>>43099151
All you need do is name him 'Scales'
Why is this guy so under-developed in the HH series? Every other Primarch has had their own book.
>>43098728
He very well may get one.
Primarily, though, it's because it's pretty difficult to flesh him out in such a way that hasn't been done with other characters. Grim, brutal stoicism and total disregard for losses is already a hallmark of many other Primarchs, so it'll be difficult to translate that to Mortarion in an original way.
He already failed at everything in the old IA articles, so there was no need for the HH series to find new ways to shit on him.

>every other primarch has a book has their own book.
Which book is for Sanguinius?
Guys, I want to make a set of items based on materials made out of animals. I need six kinds of such materials and so far I came up with:
1. Bone
2. Chitin
3. Fur
4. Leather
5. Scales
I need another one - what could it be?
Sinew

Sinew.
Feathers.
Sinew.
Teeth.
Claws.
Horns.
First off, I am a new GM, this is my first time running a campaign.
My main problem is that I get so nervous describing locales and progressing through the story, that I feel (in my mind) I have ruined the moment. The BBEG I spent weeks pondering over, how he would look, his goals and ambitions, etc. I describe him in 4 words.
He's not scary and powerful to me. I've been doing this for 4 months already and I haven't hit my stride yet. Has anyone experienced something like this? The party is supportive, but in my mind, I feel I could do better.
You are not alone brother.

If description is a problem for you, write out what you want to say and use that as a reference. It works for me. Don't read it word for word but it gives you something to fall back on so you aren't stumbling. Glad to hear your players got your back though.
Wish I could help, OP. I'm in kind of the same situation although I'm still running a module for now.
I typically try and feel better by telling myself that I can't trust my own perception of myself so I have no choice but to trust my players when they tell me they enjoyed themselves. Go easy on yourself, OK bro?

I want to make a char that can both heal and take life to manipulate it, kinda like a necromancer.
I still want to heal though. Not 'cause I want to heal people, but because I want to heal people for money in-game.
Cleric
Play a cleric?
Might try a cleric.
How do you handle save or die spells as a GM? As a player?
If an encounter ends immediately because a caster popped a Save or die spell ,then no XP and little/no loot is awarded.
>save or die
I had forgotten that this was a thing that exists.
Why did any game designer think this was a good idea?
>Remember, once you start using save-or-dies, so do the monsters.
Alternatively, play a system without them. They're dumb.
>GM wants to run the new game in his own setting.
>Sci fi, we are gonna be a crew and well rolled for the captain spot.
>Time to chose races... Humans are space jews.
>Humanity controls key planets and trade stations because a few worlds were glassed when we were a neutral power in the last big war, losing Empire was forced to give us tech, training, territory, and a formal apology at the galactic level.
>200 years later humans...

Your picture is stupid.

I think your GM has done some good setting building and that you're a massive asshole who doesn't deserve to have a game since you don't appreciate what you have.
Whats better for complete a noob playing a rogue or a cleric
>>43095669
What system?
If it's 3.PF, Cleric, rogues are terrible and Clerics can be built as combat monsters.
If it's a balanced system, do you want to be clerical or roguish?
>>43095669
def cleric
Rogues are pretty difficult because they have to know about tactics to use their backstab/sneakattack.
If you're playing Pathfinder, pick up a Rogue. Not an Unchained Rogue, just a normal one.
If you're playing DnD 5e, do not pick Cleric under any circumstances, they are the weakest class.

Has LARP gone too far?
>interactive onaholes
Has LARP gone too far?
>>43095573
I don't think they've gone too far enough.
I work in a restaurant, and as such frequently injure myself. I play around with my injuries, but I wouldn't let someone else do the same.
I'm currently working on a campaign for some buds and I'm having trouble finding monsters
Any ideas for a very mountainous/rocky northern region?
Take a monster that oridinarily doesn't live in the mountains.
Put it in the mountains.
Enjoy being creative and original.
Yeah but thats total faggotry
I'll keep it in mind

Galeb duhr. Rename them to Gayleb Durrr.
Also margoyles, moss dwarves and giant carnivorous auks.
Anybody have any good ideas for an interesting Dracolich encounter?
>>43094790
A non-violent one.
Perhaps the draco-lich wishes to be entertained, immortality can get rather dull after all.
Or maybe he needs some new minions to run around doing tasks that he considers beneath him.
>>43095694
What kind of location would a non-violent draco-lich inhabit, assuming it's still evil and has dragon needs and all?
Are there any free ways to play Magic: the Gathering online with full access to every card? Is it worth it to buy one of the online games, or do they also make you gamble / buy cards?
Also what is a good deck to teach someone how to play?
>>43092466
Cockatrice? It's a pain to get working but hey, it's free.
Cockatrice, Xmage
Use intro decks to teach how to play.
>>43092466
LackyCCG is a good way, but you have to do regulate the rules yourself. Magic Duels exists and is official and free to play, but is shit.
Why are fat monkeys the best familiars?
They aren't seeing as nothing is objectively the best
thats not a monkey
what you should be asking is "why do orangutans make the best player race"
>>43091876
>monkey
Aw, shit, you dun fucked up now.
Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, especially simian ones. They are not all that subtle
Do you like Dark Fantasy in your tabletop? Why and why not?
Personally I run almost entirely Dark Fantasy Berserk-esque stuff. After a while I could see the players not getting attached to npc's because they know the meta of dark fantasy and the best npc's have the worst time and stuff like that.
>Every game I run is like this anime
>>43091186
this thread seems very, very familiar
Dark is boring.
Bright for life!
