I'm at a loss for ship design for a little sci-fi single-ship game I'm running.
Nothing as outrageous as Star Trek, more Firefly-level tech. I don't have a direct equivalent, but whatever.
Picture related, USG Ishimura from Deadspace.
I don't think I need a complete map, as in every table and chair, but I can't make up my mind about things like where what sections should go and what should be included in those sections.
That aside, space vehicles discussion?
Its important to make sure your command and control section is as far from the section you point at things to move that way as is possible without leaving it fully at the rear.
Engines could be out front, chariot style, keeping them safer from rear ambushes.
The middle area of the ship could contain the crew living quarters, cargo hold etc. It should have some turrets maybe for defence.
Life support etc should be largely central and heavily defended internally and extrernally.
Doorways should be low enough to require crouching to enter them as...

I think Traveller has spaceship floor plans. Maybe some kind anon will dump some.
Friends and I have dabbled in and out of various card games over the years. Decided we should get into one of them. Options are Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Magic. We already have some cards for all three games. Which one should we go for, /tg/? Convince us.

yu-gi-oh is decent. no one seems to know the official rules of pokemon, but if you can find people that do that can be fun. never checked out MTG
haven't really checked out yu-gi-oh/ pokemon card games in years now though

Here's a Dropbox that's more complete than the Mediafire link
That said, it's a small independent company of literally two dudes and there are only two books, so if you like the system, toss a few bucks their way and pony up.

I basically always do my campaigns in Reason era, because it makes it more flexible, what I can and can't include.
Of course, I also have my settings utilize magic in logical ways to get effects that you normally wouldn't see until much later, technologically.
Like, getting messages to people quickly is one of the most important things in a settled society, so there's a few institutionalized magical solutions to that, among other things.
>>43774064
Makes sense. That said, I think there's something fun about building characters for a more limited setting, even all the way back to Primitive
There's something liberating about building an Orc whose best weapon option is 'rock'
Rock can actually be pretty devastating if you build hard enough for it, and Rock, Large has the advantage of being available anywhere you can find a cinderblock.
Is this true? I don't think this is true, but then I'm not a hirsute yogi.

Hair being a magical focus is a pretty common idea in fiction, especially those that involve curses.
In Vance's The Miracle Workers, almost all of the jinxman take extreme care to make sure that they don't allow one of their hairs to be lost, by either wearing caps or shaving themselves bald, since even a single hair is a powerful focus for casting curses using hoodoo.
In D&D, one example of the use of hair is that it is a requirement for the spell Simulacrum, which creates a duplicate of the creature.
>>43773628
Compared to most other skin, hair actually has an excellent blood supply, meaning at any given time hair can contain a short record of the blood and consumption of a person within a recent range.
For settings that use blood as a type of identification, hair makes a quick, relatively subtle substitute.
And as >>43773823 stated, hair is a common focus in curses throughout myth.
In fact, a caster having possession of a lock of hair gives a target a massive -10...

Alright /tg/ what's with all the hate why the rest of the Ultra Marines? I get why people hate Sicarius and the 2nd Company. But the rest of them?
Because memes
>>43773551
It's because they are popular
I think it's less that ppl hate Ultramarines and more that ppl hate Matt Ward. Personally I love their Roman theme, and I also love Guilliman cuz he's actually not that strong physically but is overall a good dude and the only Primarch I would wanna be friends with.
Also Invictarus Suzerains in 30k are awesome.
Just wondering if there's anything like an IRC channel that /tg/ hangs out in?

irc.installgentoo.com /g/'s irc server has #ad&d, but no one on /tg/ seems to know it exists.
installgentoo also provides other cool services. like wiki.installgentoo.com for purchase advice, liniux help, etc

mail.installgentoo for mail

Doesn't that happen in person, either? I'm not looking to *play* on IRC. Just hang out.
Have you ever played or designed a setting that didn't have any humans in it? What playable entities did you have in it instead? How did it go?

Right now I'm working on a world where the three major races come down to dragon-like desert people, bipedal beetles, and essentially really slim yeti's.
The dragon people are held up in large cities across the northern desert and can rapidly cool themselves down by breathing fire. They also have some pretty neat steam tech that abuses how fucking hot it is where they live.
The beetles are mostly barbarian tribes with a few major cities across the central expanse of the world. They can't...

Yep. In my world there are only giants and elves left after the goddess killed herself to save her world from the beings between the stars.
Today the corrupted giants, ancestors of the titans that ate the bbts, try to release them from their prisons that are guarded by the elves.

How's the new Legend Rule? Still gay or has /tg/ finally realized it makes games more fun?
Everything about magic is garbage.
Its business model, its term bloat, its constantly changing rules, its broken card pool, its flawed resource gain for play. Pretty much everything about it is bullshit by most modern gaming standards but people still cling to it because they are familiar with it even though it is a shit game.
The same way people only really associate board games with garbage like Life, Monopoly, and the like. Those games are shit, just shit we are familiar with and they taint the overall opinion that games have on others.
If you play MtG,...

You seem upset
It really only affects EDH, since legend rule interactions in constructed and limited rarely come up.
It's annoying in EDH though since combined with the changes to how tucking affects generals it's become really annoying to deal with really dicks generals like Rafiq or Azami. I get the idea was to make sure that guy playing Omnath and 99 forests wouldn't get immediately hosed, but it's given already good generals even more survivability.

I'm interested to see what new Vampire Bloodlines we'd get.
In a post-nuclear apocalypse world, there are at least three more Zeka.
>>43773277
heh. and one of them is a construct made from the divine fire settling in a pile of wood and metal that had someone shadow Burned into it.
His name is Mandus.

nothing really just watching old movies
You are Captain Kusajishi Riku, and your Ninth Division has been roused from sleep.
The morning of August 3rd started just after sunrise, with the clanging of alarms all throughout the Seireitei. You yourself didn't bother sleeping last night at all, instead standing vigil atop the roof of your empty office.
High above you, a bright ball of light collides with the protective dome high above the Seireitei. Rather than being destroyed, as it should by all rights be, the orb of light seems to suspend itself in the barrier itself... you realize that this is Kūkaku's...

“So, who all are we dealing with here?” you ask, craning your head to spot anyone nearby who may be listening in.
“Kurosaki, Arisawa, Yasutora, Ishida, and Ganju,” Yoruichi explains succinctly, allowing you to work out that the fifth name is likely Shiba Ganju. So she did get help from your sister... you hope that won't come back to bite the Shiba in your collective ass later. Yoruichi's involvement in this whole mess can be written off by the Shihōin clan in the event that damage control...

Yasutora Sado steps over the body of an unconscious shinigami, one of the handful who seem to have been stationed nearest where he fell after the cannonball designed by Shiba Kūkaku exploded. It seems he's alone for now.
The giant young man stoops low over his opponent, carefully examining his frame and uniform before glancing down at his own clothing: jeans and a tank top....

“So it seems one of the invaders has been encountered on Eighth Division's turf?” you ask, looking up from the brief written report Mirai has brought you, interrupting your morning coffee.
"That didn't take long."
“Yes, ma'am,” she bows slightly. “At least, they believe so based on the number of walls that have been mysteriously destroyed there.”
At the same time, you can tell there's trouble brewing elsewhere in the Seireitei even as your second pot...

My players voted on the next setting we are running. They choose to be vampire hunters in the Twilight series...
I have no idea on how to run this game, what system to use, and if a group of humans can even work together to kill vampire in this setting.
Any help tg?
If this isn't bait, which I'm sure it is, just use a mixture of World of Darkness and Vampire: The Requiem rules. They're both White Wolf publications, designed to work together, and more story-driven, which is likely to appeal to people interested in Twilight.Humans can easily take out a vampire as long as they're resourceful enough, and if its just *one* vampire, or if they happen to have special anti-vampire weapons.
>>43772457
Not bait, I wish it was.
And the only way I can think they could kill one is tricking it into a building and firestorming it.
>>43772421
You could always try GURPS, it's pretty good for modern-day games. Would also give your players many vampire-killing capabilities if you delve into High Tech a bit. Like silver tipped incendiary bullets.
What is the best system for settings similar to Bloodborne?
I haven't played Bloodborne and I know next to nothing about it, but the answer is Lamentations of the Flame Princess.

This is probably actually correct.
