Do players secretly admire and idolize GMs?
>>43920964
I mostly pity them, despite being thankful for them.

BWA HA HA HA HA *pfffttt* Hoo HAA ha ha ho hoh ha hue hee.
Hooo..
ohhh...
No. No.
I feel sorry for them and their god complexes, and for the entire gaming community that they push their egotistical bullshit on everyone and end up making gaming a more hostile and inhospitable place.
If you actually identify as a GM, rather than simply someone who happens to facilitate games from time to time, then I have no sympathy for you, and probably actively hate you for what you do to the hobby.
How could humans possibly match an elf in martial or magical skill when their life-spans are so much shorter? Are elves just retarded or lazy?
>>43920960
Elves still get rusty and forget things.
>>43920960
You know how when you have like, a week to do a project, you put it off for way longer than you really are supposed to and do it all at the last minute?
Now imagine you have forever.
>>43920960
Not all elves are old or trained in fighting. For example, a younger non combatant elf vs a older human soldier.
Humans live shorter, travel further and are more adaptable. While elves might train for longer, their ways are slower to change from traditional styles they believe is best. Humans could mesh different styles from their travels that surprise an elf.
Because it's not like you have one of these every goddamn day, amirite ya one-dimensional skinpuppets?First one to post Owlbear gets a prize!

I would, but 4chan only displays 2-d images.

You don't stat plot devices.

I've posted his statline like three times now. Just go to the DVV Gridlocked doc for it.

“Oy, oy! Dammit Takashi, wake the hell up! Fucking hell, are you even listening to me?”
You hear the sound of fingers snapping. Then the rough movements of hands grasping the scruff of your next and shaking you about.
“Um, Akikazu, I think that’s enough. He’s awake now.”
“Who’s awake?” You gasp out.
“You are!” Akikazu snarls.
“To elaborate, Takashi-kun, you stopped in the middle of the road and fell into...

"But why GURPS?"
1) The splatbooks/worldbooks are universally written by people who know what they're talking about. The Fantasy book is written by archaeologists and historians, the Space book is written by astrophysicists, the Guns book is written by gun experts, etc. The factual mistakes are few and far between, and almost always acknowledged later. They give great advice on how to make believable worlds, how FTL affects society, how magic...

Suppose I take DF templates and cut some attributes, like it was done in the 'DF on the Cheap, down to 100 points total. Assuming players won't necessarily raise the attributes back to their 250p counterpart (when they get enough points), will there be any issues (balance-wise or similar)? So there will be a 250p barbarian, but instead of 17ST he will have 15ST+some advantages/perks/higher skills.
I just want a dungeon crawl lower in points, and I don't want to use Henchmen. And I will be using community Bestiary, not DF Monsters.
>>43922281
I don't think that's the best route, at least not universally. While high attributes and the universal competency they produce are certainly a target for reduction, don't ignore stupidly high skill levels and expensive advantages.
Maybe use the multi classing lens with a base template? ST and IQ 10, DX and HT 11, the 25-point lens, then 20 more points designated for attributes of the player's choosing and the remaining 25 points towards whatever they feel their PC still needs.
I wanted to make a custom Skaven codex for my GF to use to play 40k with me. We both currently play Warhammer fantasy, and I play 40k which I would like to get her into but she really lacks the funds to properly collect a second army so I was wondering if anyone on here has any experiences with making custom rules could give me any pointers.
The safest and easiest bet is to just use a pre-existing codex and add 'flavour text'.
For Skaven, I'd recommend using IG. Shitload of conscripts. Tanks can be the stats you use for Screaming Bell/Doom Wheel.
>>43920134
Ratlings or if you want to get interesting use the 30k Cults and Militia army list.

not sure if ruse... anyway, count as Tau
Okay, so say the emperor for some reason known only to himself and his glorious mane of hair, decided to make a 21st primarch in secret for some mysterious reason, maybe he just liked the number or something.
Now say that this one was flung so far from terra he just gave the poor bastard up for dead, or just never got around to finding him.
Now say the inquisition or ministorum found Big E's private diary, and were shocked to discover there was another, hopefully untouched, uncorrupted and unmolested primarch out there somewhere in the stars.
And so...

So just Magnus 2.0 I guess.

Taking a seat on Charlotte's massive king-size bed, I try my best not to be too obvious in my admiration of the sight of Charlotte in her underwear as she walks over to the dresser.
"You don't have to wait for me to get done here, you know," Charlotte says as she picks her phone up from where I left it. "I'll get back to you after I call back home."
"It's fine," I reply, shaking my head. "Just pretend like I'm not here."

I keep seeing Dwarf fortress on this board even though it's a video game. had /tg/ turned into a general fantasy board, or id dwarf fortress so crude and low-tech that it's considered traditional anyways
also DF general
Its kind of the same as SS13 and Elder Scrolls being on here.
That is to say, I have no idea.
>>43919736
Because /tg/ fetishizes dwarfs and DF is needlessly complicated, yes, it will always belong. Dare not mention the unholy intersection of minecraft and dwarf fortress, though.
Of course dorf fort is /tg/. Anyone who says otherwise both sucks cocks and is wrong.
If I were to run a game where the players are 1970s teenagers out on a night of debauchery and partying, what system would I use?
Fiasco.
>>43919681
None. If they're a buncha post-hippy stoners, they fail at everything they attempt anyhow.
So, I was searching in my basement and I found the old AD&D Spelljammer Box set.
I've spent the the last hour or so unboxing it and just admiring all of the sweet 1989 beauty of it all. I'd love to run a game of this...
... but I don't know a lot about the setting beyond its DnD in Spaaaaaaaace! Anything important/fun for me to know?
>>43919486
>>43919496
Right now I'm just fucking around, setting up the star map and such~
>>43919525
Do you know good dark/horror fantasy settings?
They're a dime a dozen nowadays.
>>43919142
Meh. Fantasy is heroic, horror is not. You can have horror flavored fantasy, although Victorian steampunk appears more popular atm. But fantasy flavored horror? Scifi flavored horror is a more natural fit.
I know Ravenloft, I wouldn't call it good. Played it to death when that Photoshop Dracula came out.
There's Invictus, but beyond the Mythos stuff it really tries to portray Roman times historically accurate - not really fantasy.
>>43919142
Does Hellboy count? I feel it'd be a great setting to play in.
What are you guys thinking or speculating?
Do you think the Colorless required Eldrazi will be enough to be played in Modern over the slightly more easily cast ones? Considering it's mainly Urzatron running them, I don't think it would be an issue. If they're strictly better than the entirely generic mana cost Eldrazi, they'll be run, and if not, they won't be. If they are, maybe painlands will spike in price?
Also, something I've been considering is if pucatrade could affect MtGO pricing. They're about to roll out real world...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
MTGO prices are kept cheap due to a constant source of drafting pouring cards into the market. This on top of one player only ever needing 4 of a single card to fit all of their decks means that prices will always be way cheaper than paper Magic.
Pucatrade is also pretty useless now that fakes have begun to circulate their way into the market.
>>43918769
I think fakes only truly affect high value rares. It's not like $5 rares are being faked at high enough rates to drive prices down or anything. They'll just make fake FoWs.
>>43918809
True, but the biggest advantage of pucca trade was trading up your standard stuff and low cost cards into legacy staples and opening you to a wider potential of people willing to trade those staples rather than the 1 dude at your FLGS
I'm tired of hearing about how awful people can be, /tg/. I'm sick of hearing about That Guy.
Tell me about This Guy. This Guy, who shows up to every session on time. This Guy, who brings his own coasters for you to use. This Guy, who, upon realizing he's built a character too strong for the campaign, nerfs his character for you.
Well all know That Guy. Fuck That Guy. Tell me about This Guy. Have a cute gif, to boot.
>>43918677
Once had a player who was VERY into the setting, asking questions about how societies and religions worked, about how things tangentially related to the plot worked, because he wanted his character to act as if he had grown up in the world. He helped me drag the other players from playing nothing but PF and D&D into playing other games like DH and stuff.
He also brought food & drinks all the time.I miss you, Greg.
>>43918677
I got a guy who bring free beer to every rogue trader session. He's a swell individual.
A GM of mine had a 3.5 houserule that there was a limit on the number and total power of enchantments you could heap onto one unit at once. As you approached that limit, the likelihood of unforseen side effects increased. It really did a lot to help balance things out.
what kind of effects does an anti-magic field impose on the undead? Liches?
>>43918436
Summoned creatures of all types disappear, standard ones (everything not summoned) just keeps functioning (though you'd have to be a retarded Lich to stick around in an Anti-Magic field).
Though, of course, depends on the DM and Setting.
>>43918436
I would make it to where regular undead are destroyed. Intelligent undead would act as if they were turned by the caster. Liches are made of special dm magic so are unaffected.
