Rolled 1 (1d12)
Fantasy Craft is a fairly crunchy style RPG based on the same core game engine as D&D 3.5 (as released under the OGL), but rebuild form the bottom up to be more cohesive in vision and contain no 'trap options' when it comes to character building.
Here is a link to literally all the books released so far (though you should definitely buy a hardcopy if you are at all interested, as Crafty Games is a very small operation): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5dkzgw3cn842eyw/AACivEvWTEODXQgsjBPsHv8wa?dl=0
In fact CG is selling a bundle...

Glad that you fixed that 1d14 error in the species line.

A drake. A drake? A Drake!
Fuck, yeh.

A mystic Drake even.

I'm gal you noticed, though I have made a few more corrections even size starting this thread- like removing the extra '-' after "Species".
And now for a potentially stupid question: what exactly does gaining caster levels entail for a PC, especially in regards to expert classes that advance spell caster levels?
so is gates of antares any good? was it worth the wait?

The website is way too busy (and "imtel"? really?)
Models look okay but generic, like someone filed the serial numbers off of Infinity.
So probably not, and probably not.

I've heard people say the beta rules had some janky stuff. Didn't read them, so can't personally comment on them.
The models outside of the Ghar are all pretty bland.
What's your best Ultralight/Rules Light system to use? I'm a big fan of this due to its easy compatibility with the massive 1e Module catalog.

For oneshots I tend to go for extremely-narrow scope rulesets, e.g. Lasers & Feelings or Everyone Is John.
For campaigns I'd prefer a more comprehensive system. A lot of these fall into an uncomfortable space of being too little for full campaign so you'd have to houserule out the ass or too much for a oneshot that you'd be learning the rules for half the time and not get the adventure done.
>>43959197
I don't think World of Dungeons even counts since you wouldn't know how to use it without having read Dungeon World.
Here's Old School Hack which does a great job of having the early DnD feel without paying any undue attention to following DnD's ruleset conventions.

Should i get into dropship commanders? Or is it dead?
There's a thread right now, and there's a kickstarter campaign what are you on?
What you should ask yourself is... do the minis come pre-painted?
>>43959183
No there isn't.
3.X/PF fucking blows pig cock.
Okay, now that that's out of the way, I was thinking of instituting a houserule to make the Profession skills more useful.
Putting ranks into a profession gives you membership with a guild associated with that profession.
Each guild has its own list of guild skills.
You may put skill points into your guild skills as though they were class skills if that skill isn't already on your class skills list. However, the maximum number of skill points you can put into a guild skill is equal to your skill rank in that guild's...

Or you can just play something else.
RuneQuest has rules for guilds/cults/etc. built in without a broken skill system, casters sidestepping skills entirely (despite having some of the best access to them), and a desperate reliance on minmaxing.
>>43958586
All skills that give synergy to other synergy skills can be used with the synergistic skill as a separate check, adding a bonus to the original check for how much the other check beat the DC. DM fiat applies for stupid shit as always.
y/n?

It's kind of like the challenge of fixing up an old Model-T and modifying it into a Hot Rod.
Like using oldschool D&D to play Alice in Wonderland + Dracula, or using 4E D&D to play mecha vs. kaiju.

And may I remind you that long-range communications are down. It's too risky to leave the planet with Tyranids looming about.
I say we let them tear them apart and finish off whoever's left. Eh, Commander?

>everyone needs to roll a cliche'd anime character stereotype

>only one left is the trap
>mfw i have to crossdress to take part in campaign
Also, D&D greentext thread.

This is when you come in playing as a weaboo in character
Or better yet, a westaboo
>>43958397
fuck off
>>43958397
Anon, just because your character is a trap doesn't mean you have to go CD.
Just like crossplayers don't have to get GRS in order to play their character.
It's almost harvesting season!
Fuck adventuring.
These count, right?
What would be some interesting alignment systems other than the classic good-evil/law-chaos?
/tg/'s homebrew Zelda RPG used the 3 divine virtues of the triforce -- power, courage, and wisdom. This works well, because it's quite straightforward to interpret an action according to these virtues -- if you're acting with brute force, that's power. If you're acting based on careful calculation and reasoning, that's wisdom. If you're acting despite great great risk, or otherwise acting in such a way that synthesizes the other two virtues to...

You have five minutes to explain to me why Science Fantasy is not the greatest genre.
It's literally everything good about Fantasy and Science Fiction put together into one glorious clusterfuck.
>>43956733
But it's also not Science Fiction or Fantasy, so it lacks the things that makes those things those things.
It's all subjective. Just because someone wants to play Fantasy doesn't mean they also want to play Science Fantasy.
>>43956733
Sometimes science fantasy embodies the worst of those two genre. Like in your pic.
>>43956733
Because if YOU like it, it must be flawed.
Can you keep secrets? Can you hear a thing and never say it again?
still not pleased, cousins.
>>43956784
You stuck your nose in our business, you got cold and harsh pragmatism. Do you think we enjoy killing our loyal brothers and the civilians we swore to protect? No, but if it comes to that to keep our secrets kept, there will be nothing we aren't willing to do. If the galaxy knew our dark past now perhaps we would get leniency, but our founding fathers would have received merciless persecution and were forced to damn their successors.
>>43956714
Yes Gene-Father.
does anyone here give shit about deadzone?
I enjoy it but there isn't much to discuss. There's barely any lore and the game is pretty straight forward.
>>43955964
I enjoy it, but i've been unable to play the game lately due to shitty work hours. As it is, i'm still assembling / painting everythign i got from the kickstarter.
>YFW you haven't even started on the enforcers yet.
I like the rules, never played becauar iI'm the only one interested in this game
Systems that handles summoning and familiars in a fun way.

Such as?
Anima Beyond Fantasy has a pretty extensive summoning system, with several flavours for different uses.

I know it's a meme but actually GURPS.
Hello /tg/ its time for a name thread.
Tell us about that character you started thinking about, or that npc you may drop on the players soon, and the others will give them a name. (or perhaps other traits if you need them)
Alternatively, post a name you have created, and others say what kind of character would have that name.

Ill start, A little lizard creature who is mildly insane and follows the party, willing to do whatever they ask in a likely pathetic manner. Likely to be the subject of humor and/or abuse.

I'm making a king of yet to be selected race for a 10 minutes into the future modern fantasy where the fantasy races have admitted that human tech is growing too fast for their magic to stay ahead of. Rather than be discovered, they've chosen to make themselves known. This King is fulfilling a prophecy that one of the party will believe targets them by making them suffer and fail in order to become the hero they need to be to basically stop the apocalypse. I just don't know what to call him. P.S. He...
