I want to create some bizarre monsters, some of which are sapient and have societies of their own. How do you go about creating a weird creature without doing the old Roman "The Feet of X with the Head of Y and the body of Z" ?
>>43979820
Find an obscure animal species and build it up from there. Tapeworm people that live inside colossal animal creatures which they worship, or something like that.
Biologists have theorised that the reason we see certain features recurring in nature is because they're perfect for whatever need they fill. In other words, you're going to see certain features recurring no matter how strange the beastie looks - i.e. something recognisable as tentacles or feathers, even if they are on the same... birdsquid.
Still, if you want some inspiration for truly bizarre shit, google up some of the sea life that washes ashore after tsunamis. Or, have a look at pic related. This is an example of life during the Cambrian period of our own...

I guess I see what you're saying. I'm fine with certain recurring features but I'd really like to avoid having dog people and cat people and squid people and so on.
How come Raptors don't get more love!?
I don't know but they're great and I'm gonna make some. I have like 50 tacticals among other things that have been gathering dust for a decade and I feel like painting.
Kind of need to have Issodon as your HQ to make them really feel and play like Raptors ought to it seems.
Because they're not an important or, for many people, particularly interesting Chapter. Not that this stops /tg/ from wanking them endlessly.

They're purposefully contrasting with the iconic chapters in order to appeal to people who think that camo makes sense and that maybe bright red tanks with 12ft banner poles on them might be less than ideal if you don't wan to get shot.
It shouldn't be surprising that the chapters that follow the...

Ayy lmao, looking for a good set of defender cards for my defender/health gain deck for casual games in the dorms. I have a couple Archer's Parapets, a Dazzling Ramparts(?), and some other wall-type cards. I'm looking for a few of pic related, but I thought I'd look for some recommendations from you fellas.
I have a friend who made a monoW wall/lifegain deck with Chalice of Life/Death as its main wincon. It was pretty shitty. I do not recommend doing a deck like that, it'll be boring as fuck, you'll spend the whole game doing nothing and then you're suddenly just dead because you're not really affecting the boardstate, just playing walls. You'd be better off just going full on control.
>>43979773
What do you recommend for defenders, then?
>>43979801
It's like you didn't read my post. I pretty much recommended NOT doing a walls/lifegain deck. It's fucking boring and you're just gonna spend the whole game doing nothing and looking at your opponents steamrolling your shit.
Could a seasoned stormtrooper have any chance to win against a novice astartes? In which conditions? Discuss

Ok, two scenarios: a) full gear and weapons both of them, at their choice. b) No gear or weapons available at start but it is available scattered in the field.

>TiranelAnon, you made Yserafel, Lucira and Ilara?
I did. If a story involves lesbians (though I think futa may be involved most of the time), it's probably me. :)
>Might you or someone else do connections to them, as they are quite inert in their own forms. Is Ilara servant of Al-Elat?
None of them are servants of anyone anymore. They've broken away, to assert their own destinies. Yserafel would probably be friendly with other low-level entities, and this would lead them eventually to know Lucira and Ilara.
>The two angels formerly served Myera? No more?
Formerly, yes. But no more.
>What have they done since then?
Well, Yserafel has been roaming the world, saving/avenging folks, more or less aimlessly adventuring, following her heart and her desires. Eventually she's going to hear Lucira, and rescue her, though whether that's already happened is a matter of debate.

We still need to paste all the stuff from the last thread somewhere.
Also damn we have been going for days, we could stop for a morning, don't you think? The relationship chart is still not uptadated, what is the meaning of going forward if we leave behind most of the stuff?
And anyway, while I don't frown on anyone's fetish, let's do the important stuff before the futa goddess smut, ok?
>>43979653
Heh. I only mentioned it in an aside, though a clever person might wonder how the goddess Beryl sired a daughter on her priestess Avariel.
Anyway, I wanted to keep the thread alive. I'm writin' some stuff about The Wretch.

I completely agree with Ura-Anon. Fetishes are fine (and weird shit is kinda expected in god-pantheons) but leave it out of this.
Also some of your creations are a bit passive - after their story (some which go against the nature of other gods) they just exist - which is something that this kind of Pantheon does not need. I moved the angels...

DSP has representatives that come to these threads and discuss Pathfinder with us and make design decisions based on those discussions.
While I don't think that's in any way a bad thing, it's very obvious that /tg/ likes DSP.
This doesn't fill me with confidence as to the quality of the content. /pfg/ is not the end-all perfect storm of Pathfinder discussion, and more than a few times, people here have been wrong as fuck or just outright dicks about design decisions.

Rules and tactica discussion is encouraged.
Fluff and rumors are better suited to the General, so kindly check the catalog.
The 30K community is still small, but growing, so don't get discouraged if your AoD list doesn't get feedback.
>Rules of Thumb
1) If you post a list, please critique other lists, if you are familiar with other codices.
2) Type your lists cleanly. Lists with poor formatting are usually ignored. Picture versions or PDFs of lists *are* acceptable, but not encouraged, and will often be ignored as well.
3) Preferably, advice should be given from a place of experience, i.e.; don't give advice you haven't tried yourself.
4) Don't bump excessively either, as that will diminish the likelihood anons will respond.
5) Finally, it helps if you have a short description of how you intend to run your list. This also helps anons give better criticism, and will typically illicit swifter responses.

Found this dropped on a countertop, it's a new oath spoiler.
First off, it looks like there are some non-eldrazi to use diamond mana - glad to see the zendikari are branching out.
CMC of 61 seems a bit steep, but being able to do 20 damage for 2 mana with no tap is pretty good (though there's no remainder text on the new headbutt mechanic so maybe it's got some other cost).
Plus, looks like Waste isn't the only new basic we're getting! Lots of cool stuff revealed from just this one card.

it is tribal though, only works on creatures with the pokemon creaturetype, so it depends on which other creatures with that subtype are released

I like it.
Doors are fun for D&D and similarly low powered adventure, but for higher power leveled systems they just become too easy to circumvent, unless they're magical legendary plot doors sealing another dimension or something.
Challenge:
How to make an interesting door encounter for, say, a normal/high powered M&M party. Or some high powered WoD Vamps.
>>43978342
>M&M
Hows this for a start:
The door leads to the villains extra dimensional fortress, but has a super-alloy iris and a bunch of passive defenses (traps) and active defenses (turrets). Pretty much a fortified stargate leading to a pocket dimension.
MTG might as well have added the color purple to mana pool.
