so /tg/, what went wrong?
Did something go wrong? It was just a parasitic mechanic. That's all. Other than that it worked just fine.

The cards that used snow mana all sucked balls
Lands are lands. Hell, I'm thinking about ordering a bunch for my next deck because they're so goddamn pretty.
Here are the rules:
>post a short idea about a setting, race, character, item, whatever
>Others immediately judge whether they like the idea or not
>You are allowed to say why you like it, why it's shit or if there are any redeemable factors, as long as you keep it brief
I'll start:
a scifi-western setting where gunpowder and coal is replaced by lightning. Lightning guns, lightning bombs, lightning trains...
>>44109037
Feels like it would kind of lose it's charm over a while desu senpai
I've been thinking about adding (based on a post here) a kind of sin (maybe also virtue) system. Each race has a sin on which they must sometimes roll to not act upon (based on the classic 7 for now). Ogres have gluttony, a homebrew bat-race wrath and worm-parasites have envy.
(Back Story) my character is a dickass rouge determined from birth to be the world's most powerful gypsy. The only problem is that he has never even seen a gypsy, nor anyone he knows. For where he is at he tries to intimidate with a "gypsy curse" and dresses like how he thinks a gypsy does.
>>44109197
That's a nay in my book.
I feel like it has been done, black eye has a bunch of anti-stats like fear of heights and greed on which you have to roll from time to time. Plus, you could be making you races a lot more one-dimensional if they all correspond with a single biblical sin.
A race should have a rich culture filled with their own drives and morals.

The "Hopefully 4chan wont crash" Edition
Guys I know you continued to post after 4chan launched but I had to go to bed. I saw someone offered to GM in my absence but I'm not going to count any of that.
This has been my first ever thread and really the first time I've ever posted more then once or twice in a handful of threads, though I've lurked for a very long time I have learned a lot about how I want to run the game.
So Here are the New Updated Rules:
1. Game Change: Switching each turn to a season, I think this is going to make things a lot better.
2. I will launch each season with a random event based on tables I have.
3. For you to take a valid turn you must link the new season random event and use the following format.
"Research"
"I want to research this type of technology"
(include a 1d20 roll if you wish to research)
"Build"
"I WIsh to build this random thing"
(No role required but you must have appropriate material)
"Trade"
"These are the trades I agreed upon last season"
(You can make as many as you want but they do not take effect untill you list them in your action the following turn"
"Citizen/people"
"I want to explore this/attack tha/ Build ships"
(This is how you use your population, Note exploring territory does not make it yours untill you sieve it with troops.)
Open Nations [2] [11]
Held for the Moment [4] [6] [7] [13]
Only for the Rightful Heir [1] [3] [5] [8] [9] [10] [12]

So google says whale leather is real, and congratulations, You have basic whale leather. It will require further research to build your hot air vehicles.
Okay you build root cellars in the tundra to store the whale meat.
You collect more oil, blubber and meat. Also now some leather
A peaceful German town. The neatly tiled roofs of its houses don't reach very high, seldom higher than the frequent trees, keeping the blue skies clear to the thin crowds of citizens beneath, and the warmth and glow of the sun available for all. You’ve heard that, in larger human cities, such commodities are absent. They say that the skies there are hidden behind tall buildings and obscured by industrial smog; man's selfish progress at the expense of the world.
It is the duty of the Shinigami to keep humanity safe, but not from itself.

I mean, there is still something more here, since the signal is still being blocked by something. As for this guy, currrnt theory is he was over-reliant on his Zanpakuto's homing abilities it seems, and he was duped by a hollow with the ability to 'throw' its reiatsu and then retreat. That's why he has multiple reports killing the same hollow. It's unclear why the hollow decided to finish the job now instead of continuing the game though.
What's your problem with Dark Sun?
Why do you hate Dark Sun?
Is it because of that MST3k episode of "Outlaw of Gor" that you refuse to run a campaign of Dark Sun?
Never heard of it.
Spoony likes it.
It can't be good.

Your character has to get the bread and milk.

Sir Horvath looked upon the dying wizard at his feet, the dead minions that surrounded them. The wizards plans had been foiled, his evil empire crushed. Sir Horvath had done it, after four years of campaigning across the northern wastelands, fighting in two separate wars, finding and subsequently losing the love of his life, inciting a rebellion that lead to the total ruin of the grand city of Kinsvik and getting elected as the Supreme Magistrate of The Order of The Eagle, he (and the army he had amassed) had brought down the tyrannical ruler of the north, the evil wizard Beghaer...

Here's the story:
Game noght the other night, we were playing King of Tokyo. However, we immediately noticed that all the monsters were kind of boring. I've decided to make some monster cards and standups of my own to use next time we play. I'll either just print them here, or maybe go to staples or something to print them on cardstock.
Any requests?

Ah, welcome, to the ends of the world, traveler. I’ve been expecting you, of course. No need for introductions, your memories make for an excellent resume. Your name is Seymor Treekiller and you come to play the Game of Fate against me.
I will arrange a deck for you, each card will have an encounter for you to overcome. Or perhaps it will overcome you. I will lay the cards face down, and you will move your game-piece from card to card.
You’ll get the hang of it, don’t worry.
You feel satisfied, as if in coming here all of your apprehensions were dismissed. You settle eagerly and await as cards flit through the air before your eyes. You snatch glimpses at some of the words on the cards as they arrange themselves. “Lurking Arinx, Doomed Traveler, Lonely Road”. After a few minutes a neat row of them settle before you, and a small bronze pawn lands on the leftmost card.
“I have opened the way. All you must do is take the first step.”

Seconded.
Is it possible to play a skeleton in a pathfinder game? If so, would that make me that guy?
Also skeleton thread, I guess
Depends on the group.
If they're cool with you playing a skelly and you aren't inappropriate with it (derailing everything with awful bone puns for example), then you're not that guy.
If you ignore the group asking you not to make a skelly or you ruin other people's fun playing one, you are that guy.

Get this bonehead outta here.

That wouldn't be very humerus.
What's Guild Ball?
Short answer: The best game you haven't played
Slightly longer answer: Medieval mob ball crossed with gladiator combat from the coliseum.
Long Answer: Guild Ball is a table top skirmish game for a fantasy sport. You win by reaching a set amount of points before your opponent, which are gained by taking out his team, scoring goals, or a mix of the two. Playing Football or focusing entirely on combat are equally viable ways to win.
Teams represent one of the various trade guilds, currently there are 8 playable guilds with more being released next year. Guild ball is simple to pick up but hard to master. Teams are composed of six models, fielding a team for a full sized game costs <$100 USD.
Rules and templates for proxy models are available for free http://guildball.com/#downloads
Abridged Lore:
> Stupid humans are stupid humans and start fighting amongst themselves. Conflicts continue and escalate, strings of wars break out across the entire continent that become known as the Century War
> Century War is fucking ruining everything. The various trade guilds realise this is ultimately going to do nothing but bankrupt them and leave all their customers dead.
> Guilds unite behind the political scenes and simultaneously lean on all the weakened countries to eventually broker a peace.
> Realising that humans are fucking stupid ass animals, if they don't give them something to channel their aggression and nationalistic pride into the peace will be shortlived and the wars will resume.
> Guilds nationalise mob football, a popular peasant game in every country, as Guild Ball. Guild Ball essentially becomes Europe's The Premier League + Roman Gladiator fighting.
> Guild ball is keeping the peace but also making the guilds a fuckload of money.

I don't like how killing is part of the score for winning the game, as well as goals.
In Blood Bowl, you can maim or kill half the other side, and whilst it will mean you're more likely to win, you can still lose 2-1 to that last minute Hail Mary.
>>44108053
It's an integral part to how the game is balanced. Some factions are really shite at the football, if they couldn't score by taking out their opponents they'd never win. It's possible for a Football oriented guild to kick 3 goals in 1 turn and win if they completely outmaneuver their opponent.
It's also integral to the theme, the game is as much a game of gladiator combat as it is football.

Is it wrong that I want to play mary-sue characters?
Human fighters and half-orc barbarians just don't interest me as a player. They're naturally pigeon holed into something bland whose stereotype has been thoroughly explored and inverted and beaten into an easily recognizable state no matter what you do. I'm not saying that they're bad, but I'm just not into it. Sometimes I stare at the D&D races and classes and sigh. Once the new and shininess of 5e wears off it's not much for customization.

well you can go for unique/weird combinations without playing "mary-sue" characters
You realize that a character is more than a handful of mechanically-defined options, right?
>>44107827
See, heres the thing m80: An abnormal character is not inherently a Mary Sue.
What defines a Mary Sue is more their role in the plot (they happen to be in the perfect position to solve all problems ever), their power level (unbeatable unless it will let the creators love interest comfort/protect them) and the fact that every character usually knows them already.
Make a weird character, fucking go for it. Nothing wrong with weird. If you want to make an actual Mary Sue, go for fanfic writing. Its near impossible in ttrpgs without DM collusion and that pisses people off.
I am trying to conjure a rule so my players will buy helmets. But I can't seem to come up with anything good and realistic. I am using the D&D Rules Encyclopedia. So far all I have is:
>If a character is faced in a melee fight without a helmet, first make an attack roll against the character's AC, if the hit is successful, roll a second attack with an AC of 10, if the hit is successful the character receives full damage including all the modifiers with it. If the second roll is a natural 20, and the attack is made with a sword or axe,...

keeps intended mechanics equal and makes sure no one will go bare headed

What prevents different aligned divine factions from exterminating others? Say have Good gods slay all Evil gods?
>>44107741
Killing gods is hard as shit, yo.
>>44107760
Not for a god!
Maybe all-out war would destroy a chunk of their realms, so the gods turn to less violent solutions.
Good gods try to live in harmony with the Evil gods while Evil gods look for more subtle, non-zero-sum ways to wipe out the Good gods.
What's your favorite orbital-reentry assault vehicle /tg/?
Are they viable? Are they safe? which fiction did them best?
I'm thinking of running a three shot of mid Sci-fi focused on an orbital assault on a heavily defended planet. the players will be the very first wave, expected to die and ordered to soften the defenses for following waves.
>>44107720
I personally love the ODST from halo, the way their Drop Bays are set up, the angular shape and the blast-forward door.
>>44107735
I forget if they had a name but I dug the suicide assault teleporter from Riddick.
What it was, you had a squad make landfall then fight their way as deep into enemy defenses as they could, then last guy standing would set up the teleporter beacon as he's getting filled with lead. Couple second later you have a metric shitload of back up popping up without a sound. Perfect entry for bad guys.
