I know it's old hat to complain about the artwork in this comic, but come on.
Shouldn't Names and Minimax be absolutely at each other's throats?

Alright guys, I am running a classic civ game. You will serve as the ruling council for the your selected civilization.
The first choice will be for what race you want to play. Since I am rusty and have succesfully DMed these civs before I will give you three choices.
A. Orcs
B. Dwarves
C. Vampires

Question for GMs, would you let your players write scrolls in a book instead of on rolls of paper?
I'm thinking up a character for pathfinder and I'm imagining how they would keep a bunch of scrolls organized. There's always the option of putting more then one spell on a single roll of scroll, but I think it might be more interesting if they had they scrolls written out in a book like a wizard. Additionally moving forward they might use an enchanted book like a blessed book to keep things smaller and safer.
For reference's sake, the discription...

Sure. But the pages are consumed when you cast the spell, so he'd burn through books pretty frequently. Of course, with sufficient skill in bookbinding, he could just remove destroyed pages and add new ones as appropriate.
>>44359304
I'd allow it, but I'd never be able to shake the mental image of a mage with a legal pad.
>>44359322
A binder would be more appropriate. Also with color coded tabs for quick access.
That said, if you're playing a scroll heavy character be sure to have a couple emergency scrolls inside your clothing. Stuffed up shirt sleeves or secured by tacking thread to a jacket. If you ever lose your scroll binder you still have options.
Merry christmas.
Usually there are many threads where people love to talk about how they hate this and that. So I thought that we can for a change do a thread about RPGs, boardgames and modules we love.
Now is usually time when many anons are depressed for having nobody to spend the time with and now we can together reminiscence about our favourite games and memories to have the best experience available on this board.
Why don't you start OP? Get the ball rolling?
There is something beautiful with Dark Heresy and its grimdark setting.
I remember when I introduced it to my family and friends after warming them up to tabletop gaming with homebrews and D&D.
Its gameplay is very different combared to D&D because it actually encourages tactics and thinking about what are you going to do, instead of the regular D&D's 'I stand here, you stand there and I hit you with my club'.
One of my players was thinking techpriest is some sciency fighter and tried to charge in melee at every oportunity and my players were in the end acting like they were very familiar with the setting. If something went out of their control they panicked and killed everyone on that planet by 'purging heretics'

You started this thread too early. There's no one in here.
We don't have these threads often enough. Joke cards, comically bad custom cards, and computer-generated nonsense cards. Anything that made you laugh or go, "heh, that's clever."
Just going to post a bunch of random stuff from my folder.

Because there's no desire for them. You're probably the only person that likes them.
>you get invited to a homebrew campaign
>DM and players are decent guys
>say that this is going to be a lighthearted campaign with only a few rules
>you can play as any race you want, so long as it can fit in a door, and stat it as if it were from 5E (whether it is in it or not)
What race and class do you play? How strong/weak are you/how strong do you become? Do you take it seriously?
>>44358064
Dont take it seriously if they dont, you will be that guy instantly. Play something fun, maybe after asking the other players what they are doing? Personally I'd play as a magic horse if fitting through a door is the only prerequisite, a talking horse.

I'm about to play a new 1000 points guard list against an immortal/wraith based army.
CCS
2 vet squads with plasmaguns
2 leman russ battle tanks
1 leman russ destroyer with plasma sponsons
Vendetta
I've been having trouble with necrons, but now I think my list will be able to do some damage.
leman russ Vanquisher not destroyer***
>>44357695
Do you have pre-set missions or anything? Will 2 vet squads be enough to hold the objectives?
In a 1000 point game as guard vs necrons, your first target should be the wraiths. They will kill your entire army single handed if enough make it to your lines. So to get through their 3++ and 2 wounds you need to bring more shots. Try using Leman Russ punishers for this purpose. Also give your vets foward sentries with autocannon and 3 snipes. They should be able to out range the immortals and take shots back using their improved cover saves. A squad with those upgrades is only like 86 points, which is cheaper than a plasma squad.

Do you think passive, non horror campaigns could work? Suggestions? Campaign ideas?
The fuck does that even mean
Define your terms old man
So you mean things like political simulators, day to day daily breadwinners, surviving on a typical medieval farm and so on?
I think there is a small niche of players who would enjoy such a thing. I'm the kind of guy who enjoys roleplaying things like that, I've roleplayed entirely non-violent stories about traveling companions or a young adventurer speaking philosophy to a great genie-like creature in a cave. This shit is great, but without a few monsters to slay and challenges to overcome I'm sure it will bore many people.

It won't ever die.
Everyone knows elves are just for lewds and dwarves is where it's at!!
Dwarves are a natural fit for Drunken-style martial arts, why aren't there more Dwarf Monks?
>>44356734
Ha, I play one.
In an rpg where magic skills are divided in schools ala Elder Scrolls, what kind of spells would be available to the Destruction school for the different expertise level (Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, Master)
Considering that each elemental control is already a single spell (IE fire control/pyrokinetic)
Apprentice: Touch spells only.
Journeyman: Short-ranged "ray" spells (in Pathfinder these are the 25ft ranged touch attacks).
Expert: Long-Ranged projectile attacks, some slow multi-target/area denial spells. (Magic Missile, Rolling Flame Sphere, ect.)
Master: Huge multi-target spells with long range. (Fireball, Ice Storm, ect).
>>44356665
The elemental spells are already kinda including all of these effects. I'm trying to find different effects related to destructions like Wound and Rend, anything else thats not directly related to elemental spells?
>>44356774
The Destruction school, by Elder Scrolls standards IS pretty much just elemental magic.
Coding-wise, in Skyrim, the wound and drain health/stamina/magic effects are counted as Destruction, but in previous games I think they were Mysticism (which is now Alteration).
Destruction is the manifestation of magical energy as other forms of energy (and Frost which is "negative" energy?).
Really guys, why are you not basing a evil character on him?
At the start he looks like dart vader, evil, hateful, strange, probably mortally wounded by another jedi.
And you think "what a shitty character, they copied vader"
Then you found out
>the other general does not fear him, he hates him
>strong force user as expected by his family
>he cares about how he looks
>he is a weak fighter
>he failed...

Even though this is bait, I still agree with you. Kylo Ren was the only good thing about that movie.
>>44356350
The writers understood something very important. They needed something like vader but they knew that if they tried to make something even badder and grand it would fail miserably and pale in comparaison to the original. So they did the next best thing, they made a volountary pale comparaison of vader, they made someone who aspire to be vader but never will.
>>44356350
Can't wait to see it still. My pick for villain of 2015 so far had been Indominus. Best serial killer I've seen in a while.
Looking forward to seeing Kylo in the movie.
