What system? Regardless, probably a barbarian or berserker type with spell like abilities.

Who the fuck is this fat nigger?
So I've recently started a game with a system loosely based on 3.5 and it's set in low/mid fantasy in the late medieval ages. This is the first campaign for the guy playing the ranger and I can't seem to build an encounter that he can shine in, that also includes the rest of the group. I'm not very experienced with DMing (my 3rd game), so I was wondering if some more experienced GMs could give some pointers on how to liven up combat for my ranger.
>>44374458
>loosely based on 3.5
What's the level of CharOp you're dealing with? Is the ranger attempting to be functional in a world of CASTER DOMINATION?
If he's a more sneaky ranger, some stealth/shadowing missions could be fun.
If he's a more naturey ranger, a little jaunt through a forest tracking a monster of some sort could be entertaining.
>>44374472
It early game so everything's kinda low leveled all the players are lvl1. And there aren't any casters in the world yet, but they'll know when they show up.
Ok, /tg/, I'm running/designing an Evangelion FATE hack and I'm designing the campaign. It's set in Egypt, and uses ancient Egyptian mythology as the "It looks cool." However, I am having difficulty coming up with a suitable Second Impact-type scenario. Any Egyptian buffs out there who can point me in the right direction?
Every firstborn child on earth, regardless of age, died.
>>44374264
An entity codenamed HATHOR went on a global rampage devouring man, woman, and child, and was mysteriously defeated by a sudden flood of fizzy yellow-brown fluid that put it into a comatose state.
>>44374264
One of the myths consists of four semi-god beings that are created from horus' hand, set's jizz, and a lotus flower. I'm pretty sure that's easily crowbarred into evangelion.
I've seen this rune thing from time to time, and apparently it's some /tg/ homebrew. Any oldfags got pdfs or insight?
Oh fuck me, that thing! I remember that very vaguely. Somewhere out there the stuff still exists, I guarantee it. I wanna remember it getting highly complex for the syntax and final product of the magic circles.
Keep searching Anon, cause I wanna reexperience that shit too!
Just you and me I guess, anon. Shall we collate what we know? The idea of a circular system that's sort of like programming is great.
>>44374246
your google-fu is very weak, anon-kun, you need to train harder

Is that a blood moon ban? Why? Might as well hit choke too.
>>44373675
jesus christ wizards just cannot into rulings can they?
>>44373696
Maybe because it isn't "fun" to play against? I have been salty since Birthing Pod ban, and now I am playing Merfolk. Thanks wizards for being douchebags.
Variant rules or things you would change about DnD 5e.
Weapon attack rolls use dexterity.
Weapon damage rolls use strength.
Some weapons have minimum strength requirements like armor.
>>44373364
>Making martials even more MAD
You have no idea of what you're doing.
>>44373364
>Buffing arguably the single best stat in the game
>Nerfing strength to be just damage and carrying/lifting things
>a change that does nothing 90% of the time unless the requirements are overly strict
You are an idiot.
>>44373364
Awful change. Dex already covers Ranged attacks, AC, and numerous skills. Strength only covers melee attacks, damage, and a few skills.
Did your group have a christmas special session /tg/?
Tell us about it!
Pic related, out final boss from last session
>>44372843
We did, actually. It was pretty awesome. A bittersweet ending to the campaign and some very dear characters.
>>44372843
Our group had a christmas special.
Our GM recycled the birth of Jesus by putting in aliens who had a baby that had to be born.
Our team of superheroes had to go get three things (a mirror, the head of a frankenstein's monster and a gold bar) for the baby to be born, all the while fighting off evil aliens who wanted to kill the baby.
We got to the little hotel garage where the good aliens had holed up in to deliver the three things at the end of the session.
>>44372843
Not a Christmas Special, but I'm hosting a one-shot for some of my hometown friends now that we're all back for the holidays. Don't want to post too many details since I've yet to run it and I know at least two of the players also frequent this board.
I just hope I don't dissappoint them.

Why do we have 2 breads?
My littleQlippothcan't be this cute!
So /pfg/, my sister wants me to help her and her friends get into tabletop when they get together for new years. The problem is that I have only played online, don't have any physical dice, have never GMed before, and only have experience with pathfinder. If I was going to actually do this, I figured I'd throw Golarian out the window and write up some generic fantasy setting bullshit to toss together, along with a semi-sandboxy list of oneshot scenarios for them to pick from. If it's just a one-time thing, they probably won't care enough to notice all the holes in the setting anyway, and I know none of them will recognize some of the blatantly stolen ideas from /tg/. To save time I'd probably have to make a bunch of pre-built character sheets beforehand, starting them at around level 4-5 to avoid the floundering rusty shanktown status of lower levels.
How fucked am I? How hard is it to explain the basics to a group of say, 4-5 people? I'm so shit at explaining things, I'm afraid I'll start losing my shit if I don't have anything prepped. Will I sound like a fucking tool if I try to give a disclaimer about how pathfinder is kind of a fucked up system, and I'm only using it because I'm used to it and know (mostly) how it works? The worst part is they'll all probably forget and not care, but I don't want to have to throw shit together at the last second. Better to have something all written out and sperg a little inside when it isn't used than have to sperg on the outside with nothing.
So my group has a facebook chat and they added a new guy without my ok (I'm the GM), and he posted this character idea.
"Im a cyclops that has mastered echolocation since my one good eye was damaged and is now useless. I have dwarfism as well so im normal size. Im very nimble and agile, and strong but not very smart."
Should I be worrying?

Doesn't sound too bad. What's the game's setting.
Greetings /tg/. Does anyone remember the Black Locks? Some of you might know them. They are pirate Space Marines that were created some time ago.
Managed to update their wiki last year in order to flesh them out and give them an origin story that would be suitable for them along with explanations and reasons on some of the things they have (like why they are 3x times larger than a normal Chapter, which wasn't easy to justify as I had to make my research doing a thorough analysis on Space Marines and certain things on the Imperium of Man), but due to me going out to work on my master's degree, I couldn't do anything new. Now after all my stuff is settled and I have enough free time, I can work on fleshing them out...yet I'd like to do this with you anons if you are interested.
I did manage to take the ideas from the archived threads and expand on them, as well as made some of my own ideas, but didn't want to add them yet. Instead I wanted to post some of them and see how you react to them. If anyone is interested, then I'll post the ideas. If anyone has ideas of their own or want to comment on the things I have, then post them.
The Locks' wiki page: https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Black_Locks
Also anons with drawing skills are welcomed since these guys lack in the picture department.
Story writers also as much as drawanons.

First of all I was trying to think about the Calico Stars and the places within them, so I came up with areas that divided the star cluster.
The areas controlled by the Colonial Powers (the local planetary powers in the Calico Stars that represent the Imperium), the Neutral Zones that the Colonial Powers left in order to not ignite conflicts between themselves and which serve as no-mans lands, and the Abyss that lies in a forbidden zone that is rumored to have STC and many techno-artifacts but which also has...

In terms of non-Imperial factions, there are all factions presented, but each one has some spins of their own.
The Eldar are represented by Craftworld Ill-Zanath that can be described as some sort of Singapore/Honk-Kong with Eldar from various places coming to it. Ruled by the Corsair Lord Ramman and his Star Walkers, they do sack Imperial trade fleets and take their goods and sometimes even plunder whole planets to increase their infamy. They and the Black Locks jump at each other's throats, but they...

There is snow on the ground,
And the valleys are cold,
And a midnight profound
Blackly squats o'er the wold;
But a light on the hilltops half-seen hints of feastings un-hallowed and old.
There is death in the clouds,
There is fear in the night,
For the dead in their shrouds
Hail the sin's turning flight.
And chant wild in the woods as they dance round a Yule- altar fungous and white.
To no gale of Earth's kind
Sways the forest of oak,
Where the sick boughs...
