so /HHG/what kind of human allies do you take with your big stompy marines
First for BLACK TEMPLARS EDITION
GHAZGHUL GET OUT
>>44425896
I imagine I'll end up adding a little bit of Taghmata to my Marines eventually.
Third for the Auxilia!
In seriousness these guys are beasts. Where else are you going to find 10 Volkites jumping out of an AV15 Vindicator, as a Troop unit? Or a unit that drops 11 Haywire shots a turn while simultaneously making your vehicles invincible? Or Superheavies as a stock HS slot...
Whats the best way to tie in Auxilia with Legion allies? Use them as ground control with Vox'd Drop Pod support?
Confirmed Mark fucking rosewater is the reason why white can't have pretty things
How can you simultaneously be so obsessed with the Color Pie, and rip out mechanics that are associated with a certain colour and place them somewhere else on a whim at the same time?
>>44425417
Is incredible to notice how blue spells have gotten exile lately
>white works best when it doesn't
>RPG theorycrafting
>a "fighter" is any character who can both directly deal large amounts of damage in combat, and tolerate a large number of attacks, whether through evasiveness or tankiness.
>"fighter" is less a class than a standard for combat effectiveness. In D&D, a monk is effectively a variant fighter because its unarmed strikes stand in for weapon proficiency, its ki pool can be used to simulate Second Wind, and so on.
>"wizard"...

Agree with all of them except the part about the wizard. You're forgetting to factor in spell slots. If you want to define everyone in terms of being a fighter, a wizard is a "Potential fighter" who can, depending on what spells he chooses, opt to specialise in defence, offence, or a mixture of the 2. But then you're forgetting about stuff outside of combat and class features meaning the whole theory isn't really feasible.
I think you mean "D&D theorycrafting", bruh.
>let's bitch about casters for 500 posts
Jesus /tg/, take your meds.
So - I want to create my own RPG. What's the best open-source\CC\generic system to use?

You know that weird Problem Limbo, where you know if you bring up a problem you have with something, you know you're just going to make it worse?
>the DM has designated you as a supporting character after choosing another PC as the main character
What are you even supposed to do?
It's either you remind the DM he's supposed to spread the spotlight evenly, and have the DM deny his favoritism and you get labelled as an attention-seeking whiner who is always silently second-guessing everything the DM does, or you...

I bet he's some poor Forever GM bastard at the end of his rope, trying to find an angle that is interesting enough for him to be able to keep going, and right now it's that PC since yours is some unfunny tripe, which he accepts only out of unwarranted feelings of obligation towards you as a group, and what he really wants is to run a game in another system than fucking D&D but you deadbeats thinks it's too much of a hassle to learn something new.
>>44424849
That's not an impossible scenario, but that largely sounds like you're just projecting all sorts of your own unresolved issues onto it.
Aside from your weird D&D hatred that you needed to splash in there, you seem to think that the GM is justified in focusing the story around a single player simply as a matter of personal preference. If anything, that's the exact reason they're not supposed to choose a favorite player, because they're arbitrarily and subjectively deciding something...

>GM
He said DM, as in Dungeon Master, as in Dungeons & Dragons, which is shit.
Rate my setting's genericness from yes to 10 /tg/!
this a mapthread?

Lands further east.
>>44424553
Generic/10, would play.
Nice map, I like it.
What ECL is this encounter?

CR 13
>>44424491
That seems surprisingly low for a colossal construct.

The mages living on the fairy island seem pretty evil
What can one do as a GM to make a city feel 'alive' and just full of options and hooks to keep the players there by their own choice - rather than forcing them?
I'm pretty new to the whole GM thing and I'm just not sure if my city they'll be be reaching next session is.. well good. Not sure if it's alive enough and has the options and everything to make them want to explore and talk to people and all that good stuff.
>>44424374
Make someone bump into a player to open a conversation. Maybe make him drop some things you want to repay him for.
Show your players a broken down cart in the middle of the road. Make them help and have the grateful merchant offer your party his goods or service.
Show your party a robbery they can interfere with... and so on
>>44424374
wow that is a terribly designed city. The first time there's any sort of heavy rainfall yuo're going to lose a dozen buildings to the encroaching waves, and thats just the river, let alone the bay. Nothing is set above the ground, and there doesn't appear to be any sort of industry for all that wood.
>>44424506
No industry for wood except those logs they're bringing in by water in the bottom left
So I'd like to know a bit more about Warhammer 40K. I got introduced to the series by If the Emperor had a Text to Speech Device. I've played a few of the video games and read some of the books. Anything I should particularly lore or series check out?
>>44424280
>If the Emperor had a Text to Speech Device
forget everything you have "learned"
>>44424298
Oh boy. I have said something bad right? What's wrong with... Do I even want to know?
>>44424298
So you tell me I am wrong and then leave. What a gent. Didn't even buy me fucking dinner. I'll remember you generic Anon #42.
So anyone else care to explain?
So I've decided to make my own star map for 40K. It's my first time doing it an currently experimenting with openCanvas to create one. Using the map of the Calixis Sector as an inspiration.
Does anyone have any tips on what to do while making one and not to do?
Also any extra features that one can use in making a star map?
>>44423211
OP look at:
http://www.nbos.com/
Specifically their 'AstroSynthesis' star map making tool. You can do your own sector in glorious 3D.
>>44423317
Wow. Thanks lad. You made my life easier.

Glad to help - AS should come with tools for make 'skins' of a planet's surface that you can use when viewing the planets from near orbit, and you convert them into flat 'maps' of the surface of the world as well. They come in handy when doing a story based 40K campaign, or a location based campaign.
Let's do a small survey:
Age, gender, occupation?
Preferred or most played system?
Pick the extreme that you feel fits you best:
>The players are playing my setting / we are creating the setting together as we go
>Plan everything out / make up everything as you go
>Use races and classes from the manual / try to come up with your own races and classes
>Grim / Bright
>Players are dedicated hero-adventurers...

Why are there no Skaven in 40K?
>>44422610
They're called Hruud or something.
>>44422648
This. Hrud.
Minor xenos race.
Hooded, come out at night, sneaky, etc.
Maybe there are, its a big galaxy.
Aparently id been playing in all the battles without centurion suits until about a year ago. Just not seen it all I guess.
But seriously, why not just do it and field them as could as. I could see kick ass guard.
>slaves as conscripts
>stormvirmin as scions
>all the big tanks and artiliary skaven-contraptioned-up to 11
Why did the Imperium retreat ? They weren't getting massacred and could've gotten reinforcement. Isn't this their usual MO ?
>>44422553
Plot armor.
If the tau lose they lose their entire empireA few hundred planetsand GW needs to sell more weeb models because the Eldar aren't enough.
>>44422553
Because Tau wank.
>>44422553
They were being massacred by combined forces of Farsight and Shadowsun plus the Tau weather device.
The book outright says the Imperial commander couldn't requisition reinforcements and other hard gear like titans because these assets were busy somewhere else (Check for the upcoming Admech vs Tau FW book).
Chivalrous non-humans art. Knighthood and armour optional.
I might have some things that maybe-sorta fit. Or I might just have this image, I haven't looked through them yet. Anyway I'll post what I have because I like the concept, or more specifically I like races that are stereotypically evil behaving normally or in a good way.
You really should have more images of your own if you start a thread like this though.
Hm nup I didn't have as many fitting images as I thought because most of them are human. Oh well. lurking in case someone else delivers on this
Hey /tg/ i need help naming an awesome sword that I use to slay evil as a witch hunter. I use it to slay evil creatures (including krampus) but i have no idea what to call it.
