Speaking philosophically, can you have free will if prophecies work? Or does a sort of "reality inertia" not violate free will?
>>44577607
Prophecy's don't usually have a guarantee of success anyways so their existence does no mean free will does not exist. Even then who cares. If your divinely ordained to behave or act a certain way it'll still mostly feel like your in charge so whats the difference?
>>44577607
You can still have free will. Fate just knows everything you'll "will" to do, though.
You could even call fate a product of collective wills, and that the power to see your fate would change nothing, as working to try and undo it more often than not ends in an M Night Shyamalan style "trying to stop it is what caused it to happen" ending.
Fate's a bitch, but it also makes for good tragic stories of people desperately fighting to work against it.

That gets me thinking. If King Laius didn't try to kill Oedipus and raise him as normal, would he have grown up normally and the prophesy would be bust? Or would Oedie and his mum have developed a forbidden love and Laius would be fucked anyway?

Scientology got me thinking. Tolkien and Robert were way better writers than Elron Hubbard, why does HE get a cult, but no sick Cohan/Silmarilion religion.

What are spellcasters like in your campaign? Are they respected? Feared? Hated? Are they trained centrally or by individual apprenticeships? How much do they abuse their power?
>>44551898
I did the "magic is science" thing, so "mages" are just scholars, machinists, and alchemists making use of fantasy chemicals and technology that muggles just can't understand without the same number of college credits. Much of the setting revolves around applications of monster blood, such that it's the primary ingredient of my fantasy black powder and critical to all explosives and firearms. It also factors heavily into miraculous potions and alchemical concoctions. Some mages are fusiliers...

Varies, but most of their training is at the hands of the first martial to defeat them

No but they get plenty of abuse

General disussion about rules, plot and ideas
Okay guys, help me out.
I plan on introducing my group to the gameworld by playing. My idea is an adventure similar to In 80 Days around the World. Something about a rivalry between two Neolybians wich involves lots of traveling. But where do they start? What are the objectives of the players? How can I involve them?
Any ideas are welcome.
Been reading the rule book sooo good. I want to play so much. Thing is half the people I play with are D&D players so they don't understand subtlety and other half are shadowrun players .
I want too run a short campaign thats basically a Scrapper gathering people to find an artefact. A group of angry Neo-Lybians are also aiming to get the artefact. Its a race against time, Neo-Libyans and other scrappers. Its supposed to be quick and introduce the players to the world.
>>44545564
A point to point race around the Mediterranean coast could work. The players are gathered, by one route or another, in Gibraltar and are paid to race between pre-arranged checkpoints that take them all around the coast till they get back to the other side of the Gibraltar land bridge
Wait no never mind it died again edition

With cygnar, i imagine seige would be top, with stryker2 (assuming our S tier being haley2/3 and caine2). If you count seige and stryker2 as top/S tier (a stretch I think), i dunno who'd be up there. Nemo3 or Haley1 maybe?
Will Darius be the Battle Engine Caster for the Swans?
Whats this about errata I keep hearing about
Is it sometime soon?

Quest Start
It is busy and quiet in the dark of the night as you explain what you’ve scouted ahead within the bowels of the under construction Ellis building in Adachi City. Flanked by your Knights, with the Guardian of the Sun standing a slight ways back, you carefully regard the assembled soldiers and civilian...

How are minmaxing and netlisting not legitimate? One of the things that makes them so bad is the fact that they are legitimate.
>>44584137
I love it when my players do this. I always make them not the only people who have discovered this power. Or, if they are, they begin attracting adherents. Disciples who want to learn the skills which make the PC so powerful

>>44584154
Netlisting I'll agree with; it's making the best of what there is, often with the goal to win prizes/money.
But TTRPGs? You're basically playing cooperative make believe. Most people grew out of the "nuh-uh I have super special anti-bullet shield I can deflect anything" by 5th grade. Minmaxing is like inheriting a fortune, then berating all your friends for being poor. Like sure, you got the money through legitimate means, but that doesn't excuse your behaviour.

I like the Bodyguard -> Take the Blow featline, since you already have Combat Reflexes.
You may wish to take Seize the Opportunity from the PoW:E playtest, but I think my reading of things is that you can already use most combat maneuvers (trip, disarm, etc) as an AoO.
If you're going full Intimidate, then I suggest taking Signature Skill (Intimidate). Combine that with Grim Guard's Laughter and you stand a decent chance of making your opponents run away while...

How invulnerable were knights in armor, lets say around the high medieval age? I know they got butthurt and tried to ban crossbows as being 'unchristian,' but did platemail and a horse really make you some unstoppable juggernaut in ye old times?
Also, general arms and armor thread.
>>44577621
Unstoppable juggernaut? Fuck no.
Depends on the time for level of protection.
But generally you would be lucky to have armor. Mistakes are not as deadly, and you are invulnerable to blades in most areas. Maces hurt you the same, but they are slow weapons compared to the sword you would probably carry, so you still have advantage.
>>44577621
You're asking in the very wrong place. Try /his/ or something, instead. That said, full plate armour was effective enough for knights to reliably survive on the front lines of battle. Nobles sons and hiers would vie for glory by participating in major battles, and the plate armour they wore give them very little chance of actually being wounded or killed.
Really, the effectivness of plate armour was the primary influence for people adopting bludgeoning weapons, and the rise in popularity of long, thin,...

Storm?
It's translated.

storm only plays two spells in a turn on the turn they go off, triggering this only once

>4 mana for something that doesn't do anything the turn it comes down unless you have extra mana
>only counts for the second spell for the turn vs every other spell triggering it
Not really making the cut for storm, but are there more "second spell matters" cards coming out? Could be cool
Yes, this is still the thread for oWoD discussion.

Alright fuck me I'm having trouble figuring out what to do with the Manifestations.
I wanted five Unlocks for each Key, but even ignoring the more difficult Keys, that seems harder than expected. Meanwhile I could do like Werewolf and each one is one and one, but that seems a bit too low, since most of the Manifestations couldn't be covered in just one power.
Maybe I should scrap the existing Manifestations and try to break them out into different ones? Werewolf has like 20 Gifts with 5 powers each.
The other option is some...

Focus. As much as one splat varies from another splat, the goals and methods of a video game for that splat should also change. What genre best supports the themes?
