Have puzzles gone too far?

That looks awesome. Someone actually considered some creative options for a puzzle and you immediately think they've gone too far?
>>44643135
That looks like it would be fun

How large of a bullet would you need to take a tarresque down?
>>44642654
What edition?
But generally speaking, bullets won't do shit no matter how large, you need magical weapon.
>>44642654
Large enough that you can't reasonably call it a bullet anymore.
>>44642654
How big is a Terrasque? What kind of creature is it?
Height?
lbs/kg?

Rape, Pillage, Execute.
Remember kids, never adventure with crazies.
One line greentext banable offence when
>Continued conflict with the Inquisition over the use of Chaotic artefacts during the 13th Black Crusade resulted in the Relictors ultimately being declared Excommunicate Traitoris by the Ordo Hereticus and the Chapter was all but destroyed by the Ordo Malleus' Grey Knights under the command of Inquisitor Cyarro.
Isn't killing other chapters the job of the Space Wolves?
>>44641897
No.
>>44641897
Player of the Relictors here, I like to imagine that they're still loyal to the imperium because they're such an interesting concept. Also last I checked there were still 200 or so of them left, the Crimson Fists rebuilt from less. Either way we're not dead until you rip the Screaming Flail from our glorious chapter master's cold hands. Also there are still sympathetic elements in various radical inquisitorial factions.
>>44642356
Wait, they use a flail that has screaming heads on it?
Cool.
Hey I am DM'ing for the first time tomorrow and was wondering if you guys could share some tips that aren't obvious and would enhance our session

Don't listen to the people who shout "JUST IMPROVISE MORE!"
Prepare. Prepare. Prepare. There's a pretty good chance that the exact preparations themselves won't come up, but the process is invaluable, IF you do it right.
Don't make a long daisy chain of events, don't go
>First A happens, and then B happens, and then either C or D happens depending on which lead the players want to investigate, but both will lead them to E, the adventure boss, who has a few clues leading into the larger plot once he's been defeated.
That's bad, and vulnerable because the successive occurances are very dependent on the prior ones, creating a multiple fail situation.
Instead, you should prepare by plotting out loci of important NPCs and monsters and factions in the area that the adventure is taking place in, the geography, the culture, the politics. Have a good grasp of why people are motivated to do what they're doing, who they are and what they want. Once you have all those pieces in place, it's enormously easy to adjust things on the fly if the PCs do what you don't expect, because you've created a background and can derive new alternatives from it instead of just pulling it out of thin air.
I know some people will say that "If you're good enough at improvising, you can do that anyway without all the prep", but I personally have never seen it., and I've played for a long time. The ones who are "good at improvising" are also the same ones who put a lot of energy and effort into their games, and bring notes to the table.

How do I invent coherent (and engaging) plot goals?
Since I often feel that way myself and don't want to start a thread for just my question, this one is for everyone. Read through a few posts and help where you can, then post your own question.
If a post already has 5+ responses, it might be better to focus on other ones. And don't start arguing too much about other suggestions, people will be able to find out if the system is a good fit for their gaming group themselves.
What I am looking for:
>Generic Low Fantasy applicable for most settings
>Not class-based
>Rather deadly combat
>Maximum of three books necessary
>Able to play non-combat-oriented characters
>Bonus for elaborate crafting/enchanting rules and tables, but not necessary
>>44641801
I'm going to "fantasycraft,"even though you said "not class based." I still think you'd like it
>>44641801
Dominion Rules.
>>44641838
OP specifically said not classed based though.

A lot of the people who call 3.5 broken site examples of exploits like Pun-Pun and Iron Heart Surge that rely on very specific interpretations of ambiguities in the rules. I agree that these ambiguities should not be there in the first place, and that the system as a whole is weaker for having those ambiguities, but seriously, what kind of shit DM would let this sort of abuse fly at their table? What kind of shit DM would let you bring Pun-Pun into any sort of serious campaign?
For reference, the Pun-Pun build assumes that the Manipulate Form ability allows him to raise his familiar's stat to a level equal to his modified stat, after buffs are applied, rather than only to his base stat. 3.5 has lots of problems, but Pun-Pun isn't one of them.
>>44641190
Most people who tell how bad 3.5 was never played it. It's just a stupid meme.
>>44641190
I as a GM had a blast allowing it for a game.
Trying to build a coherent world or narrative in a land where people can, via specific arcane methods, become invincible, is fun.
>>44641255
This... and the people who HAVE "played" don't understand the point of Roleplaying, or that the rules are just a suggestion and any GM worth anything will put a stop to blatant exploits.
He wiped out entire SM chapters which means said chapters were a massive waste of money LMAO Marines are useless shit and they didn't do anything Guardsmen and Bolter Bitches couldn't do in centuries just cut off the funds trust me it would make Imperium a better place.

Get in there everyone than likes fantasy minis but doesn't have a General to hang around.
Today get Hyped be Momminiaturas new resin halbardiers in process. Any fantasy game without general are welcomed too.
>>44640986
The good thing about mom is the price, normally a human sized infantry mini is one euro the piece, while an hero is 4 (like the banner-men in pic). The quality is good too, it has minis ideal for Frostgrave, Morheim, Song of Blades and heroes or KoW, or for some WHFB proxies.
Warmonger Miniatures has to have some of the most interesting orcs out there, look at those Not-Landsnechts orcs. Wargames Foundry is a bit pricer (metal minis after all) but has lots of old school cool pieces.
>>44641108
Wargames foundry also has Kevin Adams goblins (Kevin Adams is the one than made the Gw classic goblins if I recall well) he is doing some aweseome ones for crooked claw miniatures.
Is this a good idea for a chapter ?
My idea is that they are a chapter that values learning and technological advancement which made them come to blows with the Adeptus Mechanicus.
At the end they fled to Tau space since that is the only place where they would be sort of safe and made a deal with the Tau. They would act as mercenaries for the price of a planet to call home, recruits, and access to Tau tech and armaments. They would also make many deals and contracts with Eldar and tolerant Rogue Traders.
They became total tech heretics mixing Xenos and dark age technology...

>>44640915
I think the Imperium would consider that pretty friggin' heretical and be forced to form an actual Crusade through Tau space instead of semi-ignoring them or tossing weak Crusades at them as has been standard practice.
Entire chapters joining Chaos is bad enough. An entire chapter joining the Tau means that the Tau are a much, much larger threat to Imperium stability than has been previously shown, and they're continued existence only makes the problem worse as time goes on. Especially if they determine...

What the fuck.
What the fuck.
WHAT THE FUCK.
Not even Chaos Space Marines would ally themselves with god damn Xenos as servants. Xenos are universally hated by humanity, especially Astartes, even renegade Astartes. The only time Astartes are willing to work with Xenos is in the case of like Chaos Space Marines employing Kroot as cannon fodder. And that's because the Kroot will get slaughtered, and they're employed/enslaved by the Astartes, not swearing fealty to the Kroot mercs.

Entry level horror board games go.
Why is Zombies!!! so popular? People I know always want to play it, but it's just kinda dull. Is there any expansions that actually makes it fun?
>>44640895
I don't know but it is dull
>>44640959
I kinda feel like the only thing it has going for it is all the little plastic zombies.
How do you make scenes where the PCs have to perform a musical act on stage actually interesting *during the performance itself*? Rolling dice hardly cuts it.
Consider this game online.
>>44640871
Performance combat, tracking the public approval. You can subdivide rolls in 3 different categories:
-Pure skill: playing on an higher level. Raw point gainfor being good at what you do. Medium gain, but hard to be penalized by opponents.
-Performance: being flashy or flamboyant. High point gain, but can be attacked by opponent attempt to discredit, or may have decreased effect based on public composition
-Discredit: like crew battle, you mock or ridicule your opponents on stage. Detracts...

What if there is no opponent?
>>44640960
Probably avoid using the discredit option. There's only the skill and flare to worry about if there's no opponent.
ok, so share the biggest rage out you have ever been apart of/witnessed /tg/ related Go
>>44640787
Not really a singular act of rage but a long-standing irritation. My friends has been playing various RPGs for about 9 years, but one of them who I have to say is one of my best friends and I would never kick from the group has always been an issue with his character choices. Now they're never mary sue annoying characters they do stupid shit all the time. What he does is he never plays a character the flows well with the group almost to the point of consciously choosing to take something that doesn't synergize....

A girl who DMed for me a few years back once threw a catastrophic shit fit in a bar because she lost a game of darts. Like crying and screaming, it was completely embarrassing. I was lucky enough to be on the outside of a group of about 6-7 people so I could casually walk away like I wasn't there and I spent the rest of the night trying to pick up girls.
>>44641565
Would you please rewrite you post with proper grammar? I am having a hard time understanding what you're saying.
Given that at least one member of delta Green is a Ghoul and they are OK with that would they be OK with having a Serpent Man as an ally?
He would be wealthy and powerful enough that they can't kill him, he will be impersonating Carl Ichan. He would be a really good ally, money, magic, technology and influence.
I'm planning out a politically based modern CoC campaign, Delta and Serpent Men figure highly in it. I'm trying to figure out if Delta and the snake could get along as they are going to be on the same side.
They might roll with it, but I doubt they would ever be buddy-buddy.
Delta Green General?
Agent NANCY was a member of Delta Green before she was a ghoul. Furthermore she's mostly a consultant after it happens and they have a pretty good handle on her for the time being (the events of Targets of Opportunity not withstanding).
If Delta Green is knowingly dealing with a full-blown Serpent Man it'll probably be a lot like the way they deal with Stephen Alzis, at arms-length and quietly maneuvering towards a catastrophic take-down that will probably go pear-shaped.
>>44641163
This is the most likely scenario but if you want to have a big twist you could make it so the PCs are the ones that find out Carl is actually a snake and have them decide what to do with the information.
